Reason for choice:

I wanted to make the character's sculpt consistent throughout her female variants (she was originally a Fantasia Doll Vivian)

Best Points:

Really nice sculpting on both the face and body. Aesthetics-wise, I love her so much.

Worst Points:

While the HID poses noticeably better than my JIDs and has better ankle mobility, she still has those infamous "butt clickers" that could look so unattractive if seen from the wrong angle.

Name story:

Kaguya (written as 香紅夜 -- "incense," "deep red," "night") is actually the character's legal name, but she is called "Adhara" by a trusted few. It literally means "virgins" in a tongue foreign to her birth land.

During the late Sengoku period, an infant was taken in by a childless couple who were barely scraping a living as itinerant peddlers. It was obvious to them that the little girl was supernatural: she played with fire and wind, and had even transformed into a beautiful feathered serpent several times. Then, there was the unusual amount of luck that came their way, seemingly attached to the child. They became well-off enough to settle permanently in Nagasaki, where the flow of foreign goods was irresistible. Her foster mother named her after the legendary protagonist of The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, but she identified more with a foreign nickname her foster father obtained from gaijin sailors at the port.

Her foster parents cultivated rumors that they were keeping spirit weasels (ozaki) picked up during their travels, or that their daughter was one (or possessed by one), to draw social outcasts and misfits to their side. Protected by superstition (and actual supernatural forces through their adopted child), the Ozaki syndicate grew into a feared force in the Nagasaki underworld. But the fact that she was not human, and that she had no idea why she was seemingly abandoned by her own kind, was always at the back of Adhara's mind.

When she first encountered Guórén, a Han Chinese-Portuguese child who was trapped in Japan due to unfortunate circumstances, he was a scrawny street urchin with distinctive eyes and she had the appearance of a teenage girl (but was far older). Despite the age and social gap, they took a liking to each other. She secretly decided to help him by arranging for his adoption by one of her staunchest allies. As an adult, Guórén would cross paths with her again. This time, their relationship ran deeper than friendship, and would result in multiple children: Kokiden, Kokichi, and Aijiro.

When she reunited with her long-lost lover Okuni, the two of them decide to include Guórén in the relationship instead of cutting him out, completing their trio. Adhara would raise the daughter Okuni conceived with Guórén, Airinko, alongside her own brood. They would later foster another child, Maiya.
