Yes, if you select Zuzu Delf with special skin, lots of head types and skin colors are available.

 

Just went to check myself and was about to post that. Well, now I have things to consider.

 

Hello! Does anyone own a Zuzu delf Miyo? Im so torn between Rumi and Miyo so if anyone would like to post some pictures Id be super grateful!!

 

I’m so tempted by the fantasy colors…but also nervous about how some of the red/pink based shades might age?

 

Might be something to start a request images thread for. Almost all the zuzus I've seen pictures of on instagram are white. (Considering grey, mint grey, and a brown shade for various purposes, here.)

 

I worry about that stark ‘Zuzu white’ too, haha. I’ve never liked the way paper whites yellow. I reckon realskin white would age relatively gracefully…same for realskin brown and anything grayish or blue (because yellowed blue just equals teal). I’ve seen one picture of an old lavender Zuzu somewhere in this thread and she’d gone quite grey, but not in an unattractive way. I would definitely be curious to see aging progressions for strawberry pink or any of the redder toned tans.

But I also kind of feel like anthro dolls have more wiggle room than human dolls to go funky colors and not look too off—it’s not like there aren’t plenty of animals in the world with grayish or yellowish coats!

 

I'm probably weird in the fact that I'm okay with Aurum yellowing and in fact considering trying to dye her, at least in part. The yellow airbrushing on the zuzu white looks great, but even with multiple coats of munitorium, it still likes to chip/scuff. But unfortunately outside this thread and the instagram tag, finding pics of older zuzus seems difficult.

 

I have a Mong in light tan from 2020. If I look very closely, it looks like the red shade has faded very slightly on the exposed parts, but the change is very small and hard to see.

 

I have a Miyo in orange! She's a super cute little kitty This is from her opening when she arrived, since apparently I haven't uploaded any newer photos of her...

She's a very good cat! I got her to be a BJD version of a cat I had in high school; I need to go digging up photos of said cat so I can start planning her blushing.

 

Wah!! I’m ready to pull the trigger on a Truffle but still waffling over colors! Can I request pics of some older Zuzus in various colors? I’ve only ever had NS dolls before so all the colors I’m considering are new and scary to me, aging-wise

 

I understand your fears of fantasy colors aging over time, but from my personal experience I can assure you that I’ve pretty much had all the colors (from various companies) and they’ve all either stayed as new, or perhaps faded only slightly to a lovely shade. Back in the early days of this hobby such things were an issue, but resin colors are far more stable these days, and if there is a change it is barely minimal. Here is a grouping of actual Luts colors that are represented in my crew: lavender, zuzu white, tan, and even pumpkin orange. All are more than 3+ years, and some are many years older than that, and if there’s been any subtle changes, it’s not enough to even notice.

Does anyone have pictures of gray versus mint grey on actual zuzus? I like the warmer mint grey, but looking at how intense the bubble mint zuzu sample pic is compared to the cap color on Luts' site, I'm wondering how it actually looks in-hand.

 

Which wig size do Zuzus wear? 6-7 like YoSD?

 

The site says they can wear 6-7 wigs (I looked at that size wig and it listed ZDF, which I assume means ZuZu).

 

Someone sent me some pics of their mint grey and bubble mint dolls (not zuzus) recently and it was definitely not what I expected. Mint grey looked different in every photo, it was quite neat. Highly dependent on lighting. It ranged from a light neutral grey to pale blue to pale green. Bubble mint was similarly soft, but a touch more saturated with blue.

Is she on the 26cm body?

I am really struggling to choose between short and tall Zuzu body...

 

Finally bit the bullet and placed an order. Mint grey Velo with the double jointed body, changing hands/feet (because I regretted not getting them after ordering Aurum), the special gold pearl antlers (no idea who's getting those yet, but they looked great), extra elastic so I can do some restringing so certain dolls aren't so brutally tight, and the long blanched almond gift wig in KDF size. I'll be curious to see how long it takes to get it all.

 

Good choice!! I really like Velo, and those antlers are gorgeous!

I have also made up my mind: I ordered a Zuzu26 Truffle in lavender! My official return to the hobby after 6 years away, woooo!

Does anyone know what the ideal eye size for Lurus is?

She is indeed on the 26cm body It's a very nice body that poses quite well!

 

I’m glad to hear it poses well! The couple of videos I saw seemed promising. I’m super excited about it—the slightly odd size of the basic Zuzu body is what kept me from buying one years ago. They seemed like such a pain to dress. As a bonus, I really like the proportions of the 26 body with the Zuzu head

Lavender is suuuuper pretty and I think faceup C goes nicely with it. Chuffed to receive teal eyes as well. I really like the proportions of the Zuzu head on the Zuzu26 body. My only body complaint other than her being strung INSANELY tight is that I didn’t realize the knees were single jointed, which I hate, but that’s on me!

The wig is from Etsy, it’s super nice but I’m not sold on the color now that I’ve seen it against her resin. It just looks blonde, which doesn’t feel right to me for a purple dog LOL

Help me name her?

EDIT: updates now that I’ve actually had a chance to play around with her…the knees are double jointed. She’s just strung so tight that they aren’t engaging quite the way they should. They want to buckle so badly that I wouldn’t trust her to stand right now, and one doesn’t want to bend all the way. We’ll get there. Overall quite happy with the engineering on the body. Arm posing is great (and the sculpting on those little hand paws is to die for, squee). The thigh joint is a really nice feature that allows for an impressively naturalistic range of range of motion through the hips. She needs some sueding at the neck to keep her head from tipping forward but that’s no biggie. I love her ears. They seat completely flush against her head (pet peeve when fantasy parts gap) and the magnets are so strong that not only do they stay on securely over a wig, they actually help hold the wig on!

 

So I got my order! ...and there's a slight error. And by slight I mean HE TALL.

See, I ordered the type 2 zuzu regular body; my order history has the record of it. What I got is a Zuzu26. I double checked and yes, I definitely paid the regular Zuzu price. After getting somebody else's tracking earlier, I'm kinda wondering if somebody out there is going ??? at a much shorter Velo than they ordered...

 

Did you order directly from Luts or a distributor? Cause you can contact them of the mistake if you wanted the regular sized.

 

Directly from Luts. Honestly, I'm real gunshy of trying to ship anything back to Korea.

Oh boy, that must have been an 'ummm?' when you opened the box! It'll be interesting to see the character if you do decide to keep it

 

I hadn't been able to work much on my dolls this year but I did finish doing up my Truffle as a boarder collie! I used to have an imaginary boarder collie dog called Timmy so it seemed a fun idea to base the doll on.

I really love the zuzu bodies, they're easy to create expressive poses with

Omg @Epicari they are adorable! I had a border collie when I was a child and she had the same coloring. Absolutely adore what you've done with them! I have a Zuzu26 Fenny that I haven't done anything with. Seeing your customization really makes me see that the biggest issue I've had with my Fenny is it doesn't really look like a fox to me. Perhaps I'll turn my Fenny into a corgi.

Regardless, he’s instantly recognizable as a border collie! I love it. That’s a remarkable dye job too, how did you manage that?

 

Wow I hadn't looked at my Fenny in months and thats definitely a different sculpt. Oh well, I can still look into trying my Fenny into something not a fox.

 

Still haven’t had a chance to get my lil critter anywhere interesting for a photo shoot but here she is helping me water my plants

I love that, the coloring looks so smooth and even, and the fur ruff is really cute. Dyeing or airbrush?

 

This super cute!!! I legit thought it was full black resin. You faceup is great!

 

They are suuuuper cute! Love that fur ruff! And the paint job is gorgeous!

 

The black is dyed (I used Rit dyemore for synthetics) as I find it works well and holds up well. I covered the areas I wanted white by painting on latex. Unfortunately I still get seepage through the latex and around the edges so there is still a sanding job to do to clean up the white areas. It does greatly cut down on how much sanding there is so worth doing the latex, it's just all a bit of a faff. The good part is the dying is easy as dying to black is the most simple colour to do!

Thank you! I wasn't sure if the faux fur ruff would look ok but once I put it on, it doesn't look right without it!

It can be helpful to change plans a little if the idea and the doll isn't gelling together. I had originally thought I might make my Truffle a white wolf but once I thought of turning it into a boarder collie, that idea seemed to work better (and be more meaningful).

Zuzu Delf Lurus

My rosy brown Lurus came in! The color is absolutely lovely. I don't know how I want to style her but she's so stinkin' cute!

Wow. I’m super upset right now. I haven’t really gotten back into the hobby so I’ve been trying to sell my lavender Zuzu. I just undressed her for more photos and discovered SHOCKING color change. She’s been sitting in my office—a bright space, but about six feet diagonally from the window and never in direct sunlight—for less than six months. I’ve never seen anything like this and I’m not exactly new to the hobby. Guess my nerves around special colored resin were justified after all. I’m going to have to sell her at a huge loss and wow. I’m just uuuugh. Is this normal??

 

Oh dang, that IS dramatic. For what it's worth, I think she still looks super pretty? I haven't noticed any color change with Arrow (my Velo, but he's mint grey, so I'm unsure how obvious it'd be, if he does start bleaching out.

 

The only thing I can think of is heat. A few months ago I had a space heater go bonkers overnight and superheat my office. But if that had done it, wouldn’t the change be more even? It’s a very stark clothing-no-clothing line.

She is still cute, and I wouldn’t mind so much if I were keeping her. But I’m pretty pissed about losing so much resale value on an already unpopular doll

 

Oh my goodness! That's so strange. My 2019 lavender Persi hasn't experienced any noticeable color change, so you may be right about it being a tempature thing. Sorry about the resale value. Hopefully she'll sell quickly, at least.

 

Where do you keep her? I’ve asked in a couple places and the consensus is that my office is simply too bright. I feel like such an idiot. I’m not new to dolls, but I guess previous houses were just a little darker :/
