I think my most expencive doll was Soom Amber what I bought from secondhand market at 1350$. I sold the Amber away after not bonding with it, so now the doll what is my most expencive owned doll is Volks Souseiseki, 1200$.And these prices don't include shipping fees.
At the moment, my most expensive doll (and newest) is my DS18M Rosen. He cost me $650USD, with each doll I seem to get progressively more expensive... I do have a Soom Chrom Head which I purchased off the market place a few months back, and once I get a body for him he will probably ring in at most expensive. It always stings right after you hand over the money, but then when they arrive I forget about the money and just go into awe at how amazing they are
My most expensive doll was a lot less expensive than most peoples was a bit under $500 and she's a ShinyDOLL Fragille Hikali, which is a MSD size she's a cutie and she's so different from anyone else so I adore her. It was money well spent. However I'm working on getting another doll with looks to top that at about $700ish. Maybe I'll be sucessful and keep it under a grand. Although if I love a doll they are coming home to me
I paid about 1700 for my Volks Yukinojo. He was the most expensive doll i've ever owned, and really, i never wanted any but him. But he was worth it I've noticed that his value tends to fluctuate. I've seen him go for 1000.00, and i've seen him go for 1800.00. i guess it depends on the economy LOL
My Soom Lazule - around 850$, including jointed hands and eyes and not including the rest. I bought a pair of hands separately though...
A Secondhand Soom MD Topaz that I "won" (was an auction, but could had BIN for $1,500 but was stupid and didn't do so ) from the Marketplace without the original clothing or the jewelry that cost $1,750 (included shipping). Thats the most expensive doll I have bought, and hopefully the last to be that high!!!
Oh Gosh, I kind of feel a bit silly saying this after looking at everyone else's comments but my most expensive is my one and only doll so far. DFdoll Lyre $370.00 (after conversion from US dollars). I am only allowed to buy two more but I am not allowed to spend over $280.00 (australian dollars) on any of them. I live with a partner who is very strict when it comes to finance. At least I have a doll I guess after five years of wanting one.
This is a really good point, actually--adding up all the necessaries makes the real total price a lot more! I've probably spent more on just one one of my OT girls than the doll herself cost.
My current most expensive doll is my Migidoll Owen ($120) on a Domuya flexibody ($250). The most expensive doll I ever owned was probably my Minimee Cloud ($90) on an Iplehouse model body ($400).
I've always comforted myself with doll prices that I've never spent more on a doll than a single months rent - which is $525. Granted, that's for 398 square feet without utilities, but still! I've always been pretty lucky that way. Or really really cheap.
my most expensive is my dollmore dollpire MSD Shiloh. Whith shipping and everthing she was around $400.00. In the grand scheme of the dollie world thats not alot. I find that i spend way more on clothing, eyes, face ups ect. than actual dolls. The cost of makeing them into your ideal doll is what is usually more expensive than the one time purchase of the doll.
So far the big purchase for me was my IpleHouse special edition Akando. I ended up spending about $900. The second biggest purchase of my life so far. Looking at my other doll orders, my Abadon order ended upbeating that coming out at $1000 but I bought a fair bit of stuff with him. I can safely say I've spent a few grand on doll purchases in general so I suppose if I'm logical, a doll that's a 1k or more isn't that big a deal if I'm not buying a ton of other dolls/junk for awhile after.
Strictly money speaking, i guess it would be my Souldoll Kayla with $685 (around 500€. But for some reason, i tend to think that the palm goes to my RealPuki Soso on the market with 305€. Cheaper maybe but so much tiny. ^^
After buying and then selling close to 200 BJD over 3 years I would have to admit my most expensive doll was a Dollshe Saint I paid after fees and shipping $1000. I felt so guilty for spending so much on him and I feared damaging him so after talking to first owner that she couldn't really swing buying him back we agreed to list him on ebay and he sold for a good price and I was able to not only refund what she had paid to buy him back so far plus some extra. I sold him on ebay and even though the Postal Service says he arrived at his new home in Russia after taking 2 months I never did hear from buyer on DOA, email or ebay. I have come close to paying close to that much once you pay for doll, shipping to USA and then face up & body blushing plus just a wig and eyes. My Ou a RS IP EID is very close to that $100, but with her no fears just pure enjoyment.
I think it would be my Volks SD16 girl and my Volks SD17 boy. I believe I paid $800 - $900 each. Carol
My most expensive doll is my Volks Bianka, who came in at just under $1000. The fact that this is much more than I pay for rent a month apparently doesn't have much effect on me, because now I'm looking at Volks SD13 boys! I just tell myself that expensive dollies are why I put up with engineering school.
Ok I'm gunna add everything up... Dollshe Bernard with DSAM 35 body- $825.90 this includes shipping and paypal fees but nothing else Souldoll Chantel- 737.30 this includes faceup, eyes and shipping SOOM mecha angel Corvi- around $710 and a base faceup, jeans, eyes, wig and shipping included My SOOM Chrom and DIM Marianne...I don't remember how much they cost all in all I think these are my three most expensive though.
Soom Cyborg Sabik, from the Marketplace for the better part of AUD$2000. probably more if you bring into consideration all the taxes I got lumped with from Customs... But he is one of my dream dolls, and I absolutely adore him. Most definitely worth every penny
So far my most expensive doll is my Volks SDGR Souji Okira that i just received at 1500 (thanks to my bf), but my Chalco is tied or pretty close.
keep this secret and don't tell my hubby, OKIE? well, the most expensive doll i have spent ... is Lati Yellow Mystic Xmas at USD 1,200 >< haven't count yet how much i've spent for dolls ><
Currently, my only doll is a ResinSoul Ju... I've spent about 200$ on her, including eyes and wigs and stuff. I can't see myself ever spending more than 1000$ on a doll, but my income is pretty limited. I would say I could spend up to 500$ on a doll, max. At this point in my life anyways...
The one that blew me out of the water financially was the purchase of two original DS Hounds at once - yes, it was one of those situations where it was the right thing to do, no matter what the price. The intense surges of joy I feel when I look at them is worth all the money in the world.
My most expensive so far is probably my 2005 Vampire Breakaway... $750 total for him... A close second is my Harang at 726 from the site before the prices were dropped T_T"
Haven't finished paying him off yet, but my most expensive doll is and will always be since most of the other dolls I want are not even half the price of him, my Iplehouse Kamau. $830... I'm used to buying ResinSoul dolls, one MSD and one SD sized doll, so going from $200 to the $664 for one of my dream dolls was a huge shock. But then Iplehouse brought out the PERFECT doll for my most beloved boy ever AND they brought him out in the right skin tone and I just knew I HAD to have him. But $830 for one of my dream dolls nearly killed me. I swear I haven't even finished paying him off yet and I'm already dying over spending that much! lol
Well, i think I won't spend that much on doll again >< I'm a bit feel guilty to myself when I'm dying for a lovely doll.
The most expensive doll I've owned yet was SOOM MD Hati, blank with a wig plus shipping... that's almost $400. (Yay for layaway!) My income is very limited so I can't afford the more expensive dolls. I don't think that I could ever buy a doll for more than $600.
I've finally broken that invisible barrier -- previously my most expensive doll was the Volks Irvin that I got without the full-set, second hand, for a total of $950 including shipping and insurance. I just smashed that, though, by winning a lottery for the Hijikata who will be arriving sometime in the next month or two... Yikes. Over $1500. He'd better be worth it, that's all I can say... I'm such a dedicated bargain-hunter that the vast majority of my dolls have been under $500 (which is the only reason I have so many of 'em). Buying a few limiteds really kills that, though. wow.
I'm pretty sure that I won't get another doll that'll best this amount XD" But my Soom Bygg (currently on the way) was 650$, including tracking/insurance/all that good stuff. That.. sorta makes me glad that I'm dedicating this year to buying limited dolls |D"
Hideo, my Volks Amakusa, is a close runner-up... But even after all this time, Kessari, my first-release CP/Delf Breakaway, is still the one I paid the most for. I bought Kess second-hand not long after the sculpt's first sale, and over-paid by more than I care to think about, even considering what Breakaways went for at the time... But I did it because I wanted HIM, specificly. Not just any NS Breakaway, but that particular doll. He was, and remains, one of the most attractive dolls I've ever seen. He's far and away the most beautiful one in my collection. He's worth every penny of the $1400-or-so it took to purchase and complete him.
My price range is usually limited to around $200 per doll. However, I did go over that once with my Orientdoll Tae. Even moreso when one starts to count what I spent to mod him in sculpt and the outfit I bought. In the end, I think I shelled out closer to $375 total, which I know is just a drop in the bucket compared to what some of you [and some of my friends] have paid for their dolls. But it was worth it for me just so I could have my blind, albino dragon.
The most I paid was close to $700 for a LE Volks Manabu. I'm not sure if I'd let myself spend anything more than that on a doll; I like to keep this as a casual hobby
Volks Kaelin (fullset) who came to about 1000 when I ordered from Volks international. He is a dream doll so no regrets there. I also happen spend the most on accessories and clothes for him because I find it difficult to make clothes for boys and much easier to make things for my girls. So he remains my main money suck
At the moment the most I've paid for a doll was USD$320 + shipping, unfortunately that equated to over NZ$500 (Ouch). My self imposed financial limit is USD$600 as that will mean it will still be under NZ$1000 (Even more ouch).
*drumroll* ...and the winner is, topping the 3 Madoka/Shizus in my possession, and my Unoa Zero...... Volks Genji (second hand). I don't like disclosing prices really openly, but in terms of rent, he was about 3 months worth. I don't regret it at all. He's the kingpin of my collection.
Well my most expesnive doll to date is my B&G Aurora LE which I just got and if all is intereted there r some box opening pics and a thread with her and another of my dollies. But she was 614.30 including tax and Insurance and stuff.
I don't think I've paid over $1500 for a doll yet, but I've gotten closer and closer... Really, when you start paying hundreds of dollars for a doll, it's getting expensive. And the expense is relative. I mean, rent is high in my area, so that's not a good scale to use (the big price-tag dolls are only one-month's rent here--not two or three months). And some people have more disposable income. OR some people will prefer to spend the money on MORE dolls rather than a few pricey ones, but add up to about the same amount that way. It's all what you can afford and how much you are willing to spend for what you want. Anyway, I do have some expensive dolls, but the prices on the Marketplace rise and fall over time. I have an original release (2004) Elf El with the Vampire head and prices in the after-market for those went sky-high for a while, but have come down over the years a bit, and with the decline in the economy, and with the second release of the Christmas versions. The vampire head should still be high enough--but there are so many other dolls out that compete with it and are now more popular, I'm sure it's not worth what it was, but I paid retail, so I think I am still OK with the price I paid. And since I don't intend to sell--it really doesn't matter what the market value is. I paid just under 1k for my Volks oneoff Shirou (over $1k if you include tax!). I'm not sure what his market price is, but it should be about the same... although they released the After-School version and other versions alway make the value drop. But again, One-offs should hold their value pretty well. I have a Soom Sard--and since he's a bit more recent and a bit earlier in release, he's probably still in-demand. I was lucky enough to get him at retail price, too. He was just under 1K, but that's because I didn't get the outfit and wig and eyes... I'm waiting for a Iplehouse EID NC Tedros--and he's also over 1K buying him straight from the IH. He might be my most expensive, although I'd have to subtract the clothes and such. But then my Volk One-off price includes the clothes and wig and faceup and all... So the price is not a reliable indicator... I should compare them all as just naked dolls and adjust for inflation, etc., in order to compare prices. For naked dolls only--all of the big ones are from $500 to $800, I think... (rough estimates), with the dolls I mentioned above being on the high end, the Elf El less). Tinies from $200 to $400. So... not up to 1.5K yet! Spending that much is possible (if I have the money, anyway) if the doll is super-amazing. But I'm hoping to not ever spend that much for a single doll. Mostly because I have enough dolls already!!! How I feel about them-- I try not to spend too much by buying at high prices afterwards, so even though I'm spending a lot, I still feel as if I have a kind of good price for them (which is fooling myself a bit, but oh, well!). I'm happy to have them. I buy dolls that I really, really like... and don't see that I should spend hundreds on a doll I don't like quite as much, since that's still a lot of money. It's better to save up and have money available for that really special doll. But even so--it's still very scary to be spending such a large amount! I really agonize over every purchase! But I'm happy once I get my doll.
The most I spent on a doll would be my Juri 06 on a modded girl body for a whopping $865... ow. I doubt I could spend more than that on a doll... let alone some of the massive ammounts some people want for a Yo-SD size or MSD size....
To date my most expensive doll has been my Volks YoSD Nono fullset which set me back $730 I believe. But she was a full set and I love the Nono headmold and having a tiny version omg how could I say no to her face? Although I am willing to go up to almost $2000 if it means getting a Kurumi or a Dollmore Dahlia.
My first doll cost $300, and that was way more than I'd ever spent on any one frivolous thing in my life! That was only 2 years ago, and now it doesn't seem like so much. My most expensive doll currently is my Super Senior Delf at around $600 including wig and eyes, but I'm saving for a Volks SDGr and it's $1300, so.....
Okita Souji was the death of me >>;; $1800 i paid for him ( but quickly sold the parts to compensate) T^T i cant believe i spend that much money..
My most expensive doll to date is my Fullset DOD E-an for around $850. I was so surprised my parents even let me get her!
My Soom Chrom deffinitely tops the list. ^_^; He was 700 + 30 for shipping + 150 for faceup+ 52 for eyes + 45 for hair + 181 for clothes + 72 for wings. He is very spoiled. That's like $1,230. Without shoes xD I'm 15 by the way >.> This hobby is very difficult for someone my age, but I make it work. They are really worth every penny, and they provide me with more satisfaction than anything has ever done before in my life. I shall continue to buy them ♥ My next dream is Volks Souseiseki or Suiseiseki, but those are pretty far off.
My newest addition, my Volks SD Rose. She was a limited release at the 2008 Kyoto Dolpa. She was a full-set and she came to about $1000 even. She's so great and I couldn't be happier with her. She poses like a dream too~ I don't really know what I'm going to do with her, but it's going to be fun!
Hmmmm, the doll I spent the most money on is my Unoa Sist. It took me 2 years to manage to get one. All the second hand market prices at the time were so high, my only realistic option was to buy her directly, and that was hard! After all that, I don't even like her that much. She's cute, but I hate the body. It's too wonky, and she doesn't hold a pose very well. I was going to sell her, but my daughter had a fit.
My Volks Olivia boy takes the cake. His body, the SDGR, was $850, and his head was $600. OTL. BUT HE'S SO PRETTY.
My most expensive was my dream boy, a DM Kara Klum which ran me about $613. Which surprised me honestly I would have thought my KDM Issac LE would have been higher. I still have a small doll family so who knows how much higher I might eventually go for a new dream doll.
My FCS-16 was my most expensive doll at over $600, but I had no qualms about spending that kind of money. When I decide on a doll I generally start saving whatever it takes to get him/her no matter what the price is.
Yukinojo! But as much as I paid for him, I have seen them higher so it makes me feel a bit better about it! Plus, he is worth every. single. cent! And for those saying " I would never spend over $500... $700.... $1000..." I think we all said that at some stage
Once I said I was going to save up for a $3000 Volks limited, but then I got the head for a bargain price. I don't think I'll ever come across another doll that will make me say "$3000? Yeah, that would be okay.", but I guess that's because my interests have shifted a bit away from buying new dolls and more towards enjoying the dolls I have. Now-a-days I'd rather spend $1000 on doll clothes and stuff and $2000 on a vacation. My most expensive doll would be my Soom Sabik Cyborg I bought for about $1200 (shoes and outfit included). I find it amusing that I got the Volks head I mentioned for half the price of my Sabik while the secondary market prices are above $1200. So the doll that was for me the most expensive to buy is not the doll in my collection that's the most expensive to buy in general.
The most expensive doll I bought was the first one I ordered: IH Lion Fullset. He was so handsome - and the AU$ was so bad. He cost me just over AU$1,000. At that price, when he arrived he caught the attention of customs so, by the time I got him home a week or so later, he'd cost me over AU$1300 His stay in customs also meant he was the second doll to arrive. My DOD Camine beat him home
My fifth doll was the most expensive. I bought him second hand from the marketplace and he cost me 800-900 $ or so. It's a Souldoll Iljimae. Generally sold for 1200 with the fullset, I then found the outfit used in another of the fullsets, and that was my most expensive outfit. Figured I'd raise his value a bit. But the truth is, I don't think I'll ever sell him. Since he's one of my dream dolls, he was totally worth it. In fact before I actually bought my first doll, I heard about this doll but thought 'sure..I'm sure it's too late to ever get one'. So when I saw it in the marketplace, I was really happy!
Probably my Elf Chiwoo. I bought him second hand for $600 which was (at the time) quite the shock. He came with a wig and some clothes, so the cost seemed justified. I'm fighting the urge to buy a couple of dolls on the marketplace that are over $800 each. Meep.
