The first tiny I ever saw was a DIM Leisha, and she's not that small for a tiny, but she was so rediculously adorable. I saw a Yo as well which was adorable, but I was so afraid to touch him even though his owner kinda handed him to me and looked away. He was bigger than I thought he would be. Then I saw a Orientdoll So and some Pukis and realised just how small they were...they seem smaller than Kelly dolls (which I was comparing them to), and I was really put off by that, so I took them off my wishlist. They're just way too small for me. I'm really amazed at what people can do with them. So to all you Puki/Teeny Tiny owners I give you some sort of virtual trophy...or a cookie or something.
My first tiny was also my first ABJD..my little Pocket Fairy Roa. She came to live with me about 3 years ago, and for a long time was an only child. I wasn't shocked at her size-just pleasantly surprised! She has since been joined by over 60 brothers and sisters from Puki to Lati Green size. I love them all.
I just traded for a DiM Leisha, and while I can't say I was shocked by her size, it was still... weird . I'm so used to opening boxes that are two feet long and filled top to bottom with doll. Leisha (who I've named Pizzelle) shipped in a Pipos box (read: SMALL), and she didn't even fill it! FWIW, she got instant approval from grandma. My grandmother made a beeline for my computer desk (Pizzelle's spot) this morning despite the light in the room being off, and immediately picked her up and started playing with her. She made a point of saying that she likes Pizzelle best, and I believe she's of the opinion that I should trade all my SDs for tinies.
My first tiny was a Lati Yellow Coco and she didn't shock me, I was charmed. The one that shocked me was my second tiny, an Orientdoll So Dong. I have never see anything that tiny and complete, in my life. Her name is Emily and I love her with a passion. I love the teeny tiny dolls (and all the other sizes too
My first tiny was a BB DZ Ani. She was actually bigger than I thought she'd be! My second one I was shocked by, though. Tinybear Moona--- NOTHING could have prepared me for the actuality of how small she was. She has to be one of my favorite dolls, though!
My very first doll was a Petite Ai Gabriel, and I think my mom was more horrified that I paid almost $500 for something so naked and so....small. I liked that she could fit in my purse, but we never really got along... However after having an SD, I'm more partial to MSD size and under. Toting an SD around the mall for an hour would just about make your arm fall off. XD;;
My Puki Piki is my tiniest tiny, and I was shocked at how small he is when I opened the box. But he quickly became one of my favorites, such a sweet bundle of love! I like the different sizes of tiny dolls. My YoSD Kuuta is not that small, and ideal for dressing/ posing. My Jaimedoll Ara (roughly the same size at Lati Yellow) is Kuuta's little sister. She likes to sit on his lap and give him hugs.
I don't currently own a tiny (yet! *pokes sig*) though the first one I ever bought was a Yo-SD Suzuna. I wasn't too suprised when I opened her, since I was used to smaller 1:6 scale dolls. Though I was thoroughly impressed by how small yet perfectly formed she was -- so like my SD's, but not in size. I loved the idea of a tiny SD so much! Unfortunately, I loved the idea so much that I tried to convince myself that I could love Suzuna (the only Yo headmold, at the time) . . . but I never did warm up to her and sold her. It had nothing to do with her size though.
My first was Bisou ai Bon Bon, i was shocked when i got her, not for any bad reasons, more because i ADORED her, i was expecting to get her and find she was too small to handle, but she is such a cute little size, any smaller i don\'t think i could handle comfortably, my first love was Lati White Belle, that little face is TDF but even sp version might be a tad small for me.
Oh, I'm so with you. I too was shocked at bisou ai's size and find myself a bit awkward handling her, so this will be the ultimate tiny size for me. As much as I adore the pocket fairies, lati yellow and puki puki, I must be firm as I don't think I can handle their tininess.
My first resin ABJD was a tiny Bobobie Erin.I wasn't shocked at all by her size. Even though she's only about 5.5ins high, she has a cute chubby little body. What surprised me more was how I fell instantly in love with her. There was such a presence... or... personality that she seemed so real - er, hard to explain!
my first was a Pocket Fairy Yoko.. she was too adorable for words.. I still have the little stinker and 5 other PFs.. they are still one of my fav tinies.. I was surprised by the scale of my newest tiny (well not so tiny) Roono doll Yumi she is more barbie type body.. but she is cute! oh and I know Yo are considered Tiny, but I don't think of them as such..
My first tiny is also my first doll. I got A Bobobie Sunny. I was shocked at first to see how small they are. I fell instantly in love with him the moment I held him in my hands. I was vary happy to get him as well as happy to attend my first BDJ pannel because I got to see the dolls and get an idea of what size I wanted for the future. The 60cm are just to big for me the MSD are just fine.
I wouldn't say I was shocked by any of my tinies as like many other older members I was used to Pippa/Dawn sized dolls and other even smaller things. Pleasantly surprised and delighted is perhaps more accurate. The only one that was perhaps smaller than expected was actually my BC Kumi head. Even though I had a BC body and had seen loads of pictures the face seemed so tiny in comparison when I saw it in person. My first purchase was Ismenia, my HappyDoll Lilliput Daisy whos miserable, lost looking face hooked me. While I was paying her off I got a small bonus and snapped up Tinybear's Leeke Sweet/Bambicrony hybrid Ophelia. When I opened the box I just thought Wow, handled her like porcelain for a few hours, then placed her gently on the shelf. I loved her hands, her delicate face but was a bit scared of damaging her. Ismenia arrived a few weeks later and even though she's a bit smaller, she is such a sturdy, well built chunky little thing that I instantly gained more confidence and felt less afraid. Tinybear's Moona was a must have, followed by Bracken. A BC Kumi elf head was next, then the curvy ladies BonBon and CoCo. I love the variety and the attitudes that tinies have, that fact they pack so much into such a small space, maybe that's why I can't make my mind up about a larger doll, they don't seem to have the same feistiness about them to me.
First tiny was a Latidoll Yellow line Cookie (who's now been rehomed); I've seen them IRL, so I wasn't surprised by their size, etc. I did appreciate how portable they were!
My first tiny was Moona. I had no idea she was so itsy bitsy. Pictures can be deceiving. Especially if you are new to the cm measurements. I find her exquisite. The detail and quality are marvelous. But I was extremely surprised. Jane
I guess I should post my own stories seeing as I started this thread and all My first tiny was a Bobobie Nissa and yes I was shocked! Not just because of how small he was (Especially next to a 70cm DollZone Yuu) but because he was SO cute!
I just got my first tiny yesterday, and I was actually surprized with how big she was. She is about the size of my forearm and wasn't really expecting that. But I really need time to bond with her and get to know her more. I really haven't gotten a chance with all the stuff going on with school.
Well, when I first saw a tiny [It was a Banji, coincidentially] I was like :O! That thing is so small, and it was like $200! I thought it was kind of ridiculous. But then, I grew really attatched to them. They're just too adorable, and they're pocket sized! You can bring them basically anywhere, and they don't take up a lot of room.
My first one was Ara by Jamiedoll - she really grabbed my heart and still is my favorite. Second would be my Volks papi and a very, very close third is my Orientdoll So.
I think the thing here is that tinies comprise such a wide range of sizes - I would separate out the ickle ones from the Barbie sized and larger child dolls, if I was the goddess of dolldom. My very first doll was a DIM Sweet size, so she is a tiny, but quite a decent size of doll, in general. If I was shocked, it was because I was inexperienced and didn't realise a fullset would still be naked and bald in the box. Once I got over a few initial disappointments with her (a different story), it wasn't the size I was shocked by, but that I'd wanted so badly - and loved - a child doll, when after my beloved My Child from early childhood (who we still sleep with, hee) I'd only been interested in adult dolls. But I wanted her so badly! Now one of the things I really want is another tiny, but a *tiny* tiny. I started collecting Kelly dolsl in between, but for the cute outfits - the doll herself is a bit meh. I've been looking at Elfkins to make a Snugglepot/Cuddlepie or a Ragged Blossom, because I'm in love with their sweet faces and the resin colours, but I'm afraid I'll be shocked and disappointed by how *big* she is. Even Pukis and Lati Whites, the measurements look bigger than the image in my head! I know there would be technical problems with making them too, too ickle, but I'd love a bjd I could keep in a dollhouse.
it was love at first site!! I couldnt stop looking at her and she just made me smile! SHe was soooo tiny and so adorable!!
I received my first tiny just yesterday! It was a huge surprise and I'm still in shock. TaiOfMine and her mom, literally, gave me a Cutie Delf Mary (known as Bernadette, but I might change her name eventually). I'm still walking around the house, mumbling, "I can't believe they gave her to me!"
my first tiny doll was a pocketfairy yoko - I had seen tons of PF photos on flickr so I shouldn't have been surprised by her size... but once I saw her in person I just couldn't get over how little (and adorable) she was
I want to get my first tiny doll, I am still looking at photos but I LOVE the tiny ones they are so very cute and have so many different expressions. I can't wait to get one!!!
Yep, I was suprised being I already had a 61, 60 and a 44 cm by the time I fell in love with D.I.M. Sief......oh my god when I looked at her box I was in shock knowing how much room was inside! I adore her and then came the invasion of the tinies, Bobobie Nissa, Felix Brownie, Dollfactory Pinee and other sizes inbetween. Never figured myself to be a tiny owner but that's how it worked out!
My first tiny is a Tinybear Coco. People on DOA said she was substantial for a tiny, but when I got her I was shocked. She was so delicate and small. I was like a new mom checking her fingers and toes. She is so lovely with the tiniest freckles and beautiful flowing pink hair. So delicate! I am overwhelmed by a need to protect and provide for her-- definitely mother's instincts. I have two more tinies on the way now!
My first Tiny was a Puki Pipi... I found this doll amazing and was quite afraid to break it... Taking it in the palm of my hand was like holding a really small animal : you squizz it a little too much and your just hurt it !
Puki's are great starters I guess! I knew they were tiny and knew I'd be like wtf?! When I'd get it, and yeah, I said "OHMIGOSH SO TEENY!!! 33" *lovelovelove* Human nature is amazing. We either love super small tiny things, or super large oversized things, and things that imitate other living things... which sounds silly all by itself doesnt it? Yup!
I was thrilled. Tinies are just the perfect size - you can cart them around in your handbag! I love their small size.
My first (and currently only) doll is a Luts Honey Delf Pudding. I adore her. I don't notice how tiny she is until she's put next to the 60cm boys at meet-ups. Then she looks wee. I got her for a child character and she fits the bill quite well. Sometimes I wish she was a little bigger so she could be proportionally a child to a 60cm doll I want to get, but I adore her the way she is.
My Tinybear Mina arrived today and she is extemely small. She is tinier than I thought. I thought she could be in scale with my other dolls and be a child to them but she's more like a doll compared to them lol.
My first tiny is a Lati Yellow white skin Miel, I was quite shocked of how tiny and cute she turned out to be as I was more into Momoko dolls. Lati yellow dollies are so delicate ! But then, i've got used to their tiny size and get more tinier dollies like bluefairy yoko and pukipukis! Pukipukis are so fun to pose and play with, they have mischievous faces !
MY first bjds ever are bbb isabella and bei. I loooove them. I went to a meet several weeks before getting my first doll and I got to see so many different sizes. But I noticed after that it wasnt just that i was scared of breaking the big ones but that i was just so much more attracted to the small ones. So when my first girl came I thought she was perfection in resin. then my second a few weeks later came and wow! I couldnt believe how wonderful they both were. I love the size. To me its perfect. I just wish more companies carried that size! Definitely love the little girls.
My first Tiny was lati yellow coco. I was really amazed and in love! The second Tiny was lati white. And I was really shocked!!! So tiny! So wonderful!
I was very shocked at how small my BB Ani was when I got her... then my Puki Pipi showed up and I was even MORE shocked! They are cute. I want an army of tinies now.
Boy, was I shocked. Before my pukis started to arrive, all I had were SDs...and then this pocket-sized fully jointed thing shows up, and I was scared to touch! But they're sturdy little boogers, and it's impossible to resist handling them! So I got over it pretty quickly, but the next hurdle to hit is painting some parts. o_____o
I was kinda the same way when I got my first Catsy in. She is so tiny my big dolls can hold her in their hands! I have some spare parts for my Catsy twins around.. I just need to get the time to dye and paint them. I have had to do touch ups on their defult shoes, so I don't think painting will be too big of an issue.
Until I bought Baha, all my dolls were SD size but I was absolutely in love with him right from the first. He's pretty chunky so he didn't seem all that small. Then I fell in love with Not Doll's tan Lucy. When she arrived I was simply amazed at the perfect enginering that went into such a tiny thing. Double jointed with a 3 part torso? I was beyond impressed. While my main interest has continued to be the big dolls, I've collected a number of the tinies too, all mature ones except for Lucy & the 2 Pukis I recently bought. There's just something irresistable about little, tiny things.
My first was a bobobie cookie (with a female body - not my choice as he is preloved - so 14cm). Considering what I had at the time was an SD and two MSD sized dolls, the size was surprising indeed. But hey, its a tiny purse sized dolly that was really cute ^^ When I first got him I just couldn't stop touching him and having him moving/posing (I also learned of my problems with msc, he was my first faceupped doll). Couldn't put him down to say the least. Couldn't say the same with my second tiny, who was damaged (not in transit, already damaged) and until someone else handled him I wouldn't dare. He is now very much loved and cared for though. Adore my tinies - convenient to carry, light, very posable, make as good (maybe better in some cases) characters as larger dolls, easy to find furniture for - cannot fault them.
My first tiny is a BBB green Eric. My purpose for getting him was to be able to bring a resin kid to my professional office without being obvious. I love him and I have all sizes . He slips right into his green velvet bag and noone is the wiser...like having a tiny secret!
Not shocked, THRILLED! I adore tiny dolls, and so when they started making tiny dollfies I HAD to have some. Miniature dolls are so easy to take places, and like Alithegreat says, it's like having a secret.
Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum and just recently got into BJDs. I fell in love with Alice Cherry Blossom and now have Alice, Gothic Hoody, and William Winterberry. I am amazed at how light she is, but very solid at the same time. You can really see that she is a quality product. I absolutely love her little piggy hands. Now I am thinking about getting a Puki Puki doll and possibly a Pipos. Does anyone have any suggestions for other tiny dolls?
Hello Hen, nice to see you joined up! I just recently visited Oakland too. My personal favorite tiny dolls are Dollmore Banji's and Elfdoll tinies. They are slender and a bit more mature looking.
Thanks! I'm happy to delve into the world of BJDs! I'll have to check out the Dollmore Banji's. Some of the Elfdoll Tinies are cute. And some of them are a bit scary. Aren't there a totally new batch of Tinies? They look very different from the old model. Which ones are you referring to?
Well, I think the Elfdoll tinies are all very cute! There is a new batch of sisters coming out very soon. Many people are waiting anxiously!
Ye gads, shocked was putting it midly. Haven't been collecting long but started with the 60cm. Then I bought an Elfdoll Sylf and when she arrived I'm like "How in the flowery goodness am I supposed to pick her up let alone dress her without crushing or snapping an arm or a leg?" I'm still a bit nervous about handing her.
My first was a Bobobie Nissa girl, I was soooo bewildered. I knew it would be tiny due to the fact that I used a measuring tape to estimate the height. But I STILL never expected it to be THAT tiny. I mean it was weird to actually touch! Than my second (which came a day or two later) was a Pukisha! lol which was TINIER!!!! lol this I found quite entertaining. I was practically SCARED to touch her. lol
(second post in the same thread LOL, now months later since my puki arrived) No, not shock. Except now I must say, TINY is an extremely addictive "disease" once you fall in love you may end up with an army down the road. Here he is sitting on my keyboard I have now 6 with 5 on the waiting ACK
lol I too got addicted to the puki's but I will have to wait a bit for more! but i want the puki sugar and puki rose. I also want a littlefee, mainly the new fairy one so that may come first since I am sure it will be sold out SOON!!!! lol
First Tiny = The 26cm Unoa Light Azurite. Seeing how tiny all of his body-parts & segments were, & then looking at the all-Japanese instruction sheet, caused me to spiral into a panic-- even though he had already been assembled by his previous owner. Up to that point, I'd collected two 44cms and six 60+, and had no plans for any Tinies at all. I can handle giants, but Tinies? What had I gotten myself into? I had just gotten used to handling the burly Volks SD16 when this scrawy little guy came in the mail. I think "Wow, Spike, you're sure not an SD16" were the first words out of my mouth. ^^ I thought I was prepared for his size, but I was still shocked when he arrived and I held him in one hand.... correction.... when I tweezed him out of the box gingerly between two of my big clumsy Frankenstein fingers.... and was afraid to breathe on him. Yaaah! So skinny! So little! Years later, I have finally gotten used to Spike's size. Now I just make sure that the giants are careful around him. He makes a wonderful contrast to all the beefcake in the house.
My first tiny was a pipos baha cat. But it was not so shocking I guess. I got more shocked when I received my lati white doll. They are so so small!
Tillo is my second doll so before I bought him I already know he was tiny. ... Well measurements doesn't prepare you for the actual tininess that is a puki. So I got used to him, played, enjoyed his tininess... Not until I was finished with Tomato (my TF) and put them together for a photo I was truely shocked at how tiny Tillo was. ... perspective I think. XD
Tinies are addictive for sure. I just received my first tiny about two weeks ago, a Nari Pon Lucky Clover. Her size didn't suprise, I am thrilled with her. Seeing pictures of the tinies along with the bigger BJD's really does put their size into perspective however.........boy are they tiny!
