Your doll's wardrobe: Empty or Bursting?

Jan 31, 2011

    1. I have trouble deciding on what I want to get for my dolls, so my doll closet is very slim. I am however working on getting new things.

    2. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?

I have several outfits for my doll.

(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customise them further with clothing?

Nope ! I like her because she is just perfect even if she would only wear undies
 But I do spoil her... She always changes her clothes and I make a lot of clothes so her wardrobe will be bursting in the near future hehe

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?

If I buy sth for her it´s intentionally. But this is quite rare since I sew her clothes. So I only search for stuff which I wouldn´t sew myself.

    3. My doll's wardrobe...

Let's just say I don't even think they have a wardrobe. Iplehouse EID dolls are really hard to find clothes for, at least for me. I have an issue with spending more for my doll, than for myself, but that's another matter. ^^

Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?

-I dont get the default outfits at all. I have a particular style/idea in mind whenever I buy my dolls, so I just buy separately. Sometimes, I make my own outfits when I can't find the one I want. There's always customization! :)

(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customise them further with clothing?

-My dolls don't ever feel boring at all, even with a limited wardrobe. I use them as models for artworks sometimes, as well as characters in my writings. I change their faceups at times, whenever their character changes, that's fun too. As well as adding modifications, tattoos, scars, etc.

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?

-As I've stated before, when I started out, my dolls don't even have a wardrobe. I think it's just underwear for them. I have a few clothes lying about, and I am quite biased in one particular outfit. The same goes for my other dolls. They all have that one outfit they always wear. I think it's because it's the one that's in line with their character. I think you have too many clothes when you don't even know you have that clothing. Ex: "I don't even remember buying this." ^^

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?

-I don't buy... Intentionally. I plan to sew clothes for my dolls, That way I can save up money, and hone my sewing skills. The only thing I buy are wigs and shoes. And some accessories as well.

    4. Pretty empty, since I just started this hobby. That will slowly change, though.

    5. The box that I use as my girl's wardrobe is bursting with clothes now, but I just see that as time to get a bigger box! Aside from one pair of jeans, I sewed all the clothes myself and i'm really enjoying making things for her so I won't be stopping :-)

    6. My girls have a pretty empty wardrobe right now. Not for a lack of trying, though! Super Gem females are just hard to find things for, so I've been commissioning, which takes time of course. :sweat I expect a year from now, they will have a pretty sizable wardrobe.

    7. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?
Normally, several different outfits. I currently have 2 dolls that only have one each due to sizing difficulties.

Do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customise them further with clothing?
No. I do wish I could change their clothes. I dress my dolls for the weather and I like a change of scenery, but the dolls themselves are still very relevant to me and I still find them beautiful and interesting. I become attached very easily and I have a strong sentiment toward my resin kids.

How many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
The wardrobes will grow forever, but all of my dolls that have extra outfits have at least 3 full outfits with the ability to mix-and-match some of their stuff for a fresh look. I don't think you can have too many clothes. It's great to have a variety and you never know when you'll get another doll who might fit in clothes you've bought for another.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
I do both. I don't make enough money to throw it around thoughtlessly, so I am a very careful buyer of clothes and I only ever buy what I intend to and I pass on what I can't afford or simply am not interested in.

    8. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?

It always varies, I will seek out default/fullset outfits if I like them but not as a rule. I will also buy several other outfits, sometimes even before my doll has arrived.

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?

I have many outfits that I use on multiple of my dolls. I definitely consider myself a BJD parts and accessories collector as much as a doll one.
I am not biased per-say, I do have clothes I prefer but I love all the outfits I have. I change their clothes constantly, it's a great way to enjoy my dolls.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?

I have no qualms about purchasing internationally. :)

    9. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?
I buy tons of clothes for my dolls. Most of mine wear the same size so it's easy to use the same items among them. My bigger dolls are going to be display dolls so I'm currently working on getting custom outfits for them. Once they have those it's unlikely I'll dress them up further since I have my tinies to play with.

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
Oh geez, Um I would say that maybe I have at least 5 full outfits for each doll.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
I'll be honest most of mine come from Asia. About 90% the clothes I've bought from the US have ended up arriving damaged or a completely different product than what was advertised. American sellers aren't as consistent as their Asian counterparts as far as my experience goes. I like European sellers too but the shipping prices are steeper.

    10. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?

My girl will have several outfits. I only have one so she will definitely be spoiled.

Does your doll ever get boring? Do you lose interest in it/her/him because you don't spoil or customize them further with clothing?

Right now, my girl is off getting a face-up plus she's new, so it does feel a bit boring since I really don't have anything planned out for her just yet. I would buy her more things but at the moment all of my favorite places to buy clothes from are closed and hard to reach. ~-~

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?

I try to keep buying doll things domestic, just because I like low shipping costs. :P As much as I may like it, I probably won't buy it unless I'm in a group order or something.

    11. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?
One outfit per doll, period. All of my dolls are hard to dress, so once I have their outfit complete, they are finished.

Does your doll ever get boring? Do you lose interest in it/her/him because you don't spoil or customize them further with clothing?
No, never. I'm just satisfied at getting them dressed!

Do you buy or not buy intentionally?
I try not to buy clothes as I don't have the extra funds to 'make mistakes', i.e.: not have the clothing fit even though I triple checked size. I have learned to make my own.

    12. I did get the outfit with the doll. But most of the clothes my doll has, are hand made. My dolls wardrobe is huge!

    13. There are now three full dresser drawers of my dolls' clothes. They are spoiled. :sweat

    14. Cissy has a small bag of clothes, most of which I made, and a singular pair of shoes...

Have a bunch of things bought for planned dolls that are just collecting dust until then... Mostly rainbow things for Pan...

Aaaand Yune has literally nothing... like he is wearing MY clothes right now so he can not be naked. Poor guy. It's kinda cute though :3

    15. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?
Very tricky question for me to answer. My anthro bjds who even though have their own stories and personalities are rolls i.e. princess, dragon handler, soccer have each only one outfit even though I would consider a new outfit should i find one more fitting. My only human bjd Amy (tiny delf dorothy) has a full box of clothes… they all suite her personality but as she has no defined role she has no designated outfit… I spend more money on her clothes then I do on mine lol. I think part of the problem is also finding clothes that I like that would fit Zuzus and Dearpets… kind of hard to shop for at times.

(If you only have one) do your dolls feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you do not spoil or customise them further with clothing?

Even though I would like more clothes for my anthros it is something I can put up with. I do not think I find them any more boring or anything like that… I do have fun spoiling Amy though and buying her outfits and dressing her.

(if you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?

My 4 anthros (one is on it's way) have one outfit each. Amy has 9 outfits so far even though I still need to shop for her autumn winter wardrobe.

      - One school out fit (white blouse, blue skirt and pink cardigan)
      - 4 casual summer dresses
      - 1 party dress
      - 2 sunday dresses (for the summer)
      - 1 casual winter dress
      - 2 long socks
      - 1 black buckle shoes.

I do have a bit of a preference for her sunday dresses in the weekend and school outfit during the week so I do feel slightly guilty she has not worn any of her more casual items yet… As for a question I think it would need to get to the stage that I would need a full human sized wardrobe to fit all my doll clothes for me to realise there is a problem lol

Do you buy or not buy intentionally?

I buy very intentionally with a list of items clothing I think my doll will need for that season. I kind of go from what I usually would want my own child to have to wear and start there.

    16. will be bursting once I received the clothes. I think I spend too much!

    17. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?
I haven't bought any default outfits. I make all their clothes, except for gifts from others. And shoes. I'm bad at shoes. And jewelry. My sister makes them jewelry.

Do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customize them further with clothing?
I think you're right there. I got two dolls that I got no stuff for and I ended up eventually selling them. Poor things didn't even get names.

How many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
I don't remember how much clothing I've made for who. I think Amiga's in the lead for daywear, but a couple of my OT dolls have more holiday clothes. Amiga needs a Halloween costume, and a winter holiday dress, and something fun for Easter, and something for Independence Day...

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
I do take pride in seeing my dolls' beautiful handmade clothes on.

    18. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your doll?
I feel like just one outfit would be boring though I wouldn't mind a default outfit for my girl to lounge around in on a daily basis xD I typically tend to let her stay in one outfit for around a week or so, and then change it. This will probably change when she gets more clothes, though.

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
I view doll clothes in the same way I view my clothes--YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH :D currently I don't have a favorite outfit for Astrid but I think that'll change once I get her new clothes, and I figure that'll be the same for my second doll whenever I finally get him.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
I have yet to buy any clothes for my dolls (all of them are handmade) but when I do buy things for them it is usually a planned purchase--a very involved one that usually entails several hours of me rethinking individual pieces to make sure I get the most use out of them for the price, and many recalculations and estimations with shipping costs later.

    19. Almost all of my dolls have odd bodies so it's hard to find clothes for them - so I make them myself. I've made a simple dress for each doll. I'm planning on getting more clothes for them (that I didn't make) - but I can only do that if I stop buying more dolls.

    20. My one Yo-SD has a wardrobe filled to bursting!

My 8 RealPukis however... They have like 3 outfits between them all.

    21.
    22. I think it is charming that you have different drawers for each doll! My SD's exchange clothes and wigs frequently.

    23. Currently... my two dolls sit around nude (save for their boots) while I slowly get around to making them clothing. I do intend to make them a few staple pieces... but I don't think I will have a huge wardrobe for them. Maybe two or three distinct outfits of multiple layers and then strip away the excess for more casual looks which I can mix and match.

    24. Um, I think this says it all, this doesn't include the two suitcases that are packed with other clothing, wigs, armor and etc.
This is almost one quarter of my closet, all the blue and white hangars are my boys clothes, down to the purple dress.

    25. @SteamWitch : I chuckled, seeing your closet! ^
Because I fully look forward to mine becoming like that before long (but with much more eyesore-bright colored clothes!)
It looks nice, all hung up like that though. So that's reassuring. :sweat

Well, here goes my thoughts and tendencies on the thread's topic:

I have several dolls but only one is OT for DoA. I literally have one shopping bag full of clothing for each of my fashion dolls (Each one is a different size so they can't share..) all of which are in various stages of completion, but I do like to change their clothes at least once or twice a month, whenever I take them out of the house, or when I can remember to.

With my BJD though, I've been doing a lot better than I do with my fashion dolls. I've completed a couple of nice-ish dresses and clothes for her within the first month that I've had her, and have even taught myself the basics of knitting, with intentions to knit her some winter clothing by time that's in season.
Wig and eye wise, once I find the right look for the doll I tend to let that rest, but clothing-wise, I'd rather have one doll with an extensive wardrobe that I can change and play with, than several dolls with one or two outfits each. It's just personal preference and how I enjoy playing ^_^

    26. This is such a funny thing; I was wondering about this today! I thought after 4 years in this hobby I finally have a recipe on how I want each doll to have their wardrobe. I decided that there will be two to three outfits for each doll; one trendy, modern/casual and layered where I can switch out a top for a sweater and hat or coat and scarf (spring/summer; winter). The other a fantasy, historical or magical outfit depending on their character.

So far I have suitcases to store outfits and a special organizer with drawers that keep outfits that I would be using more often depending on the season.
I also use a "cosmetic" case for organizing doll eyes, zippered bags that hold either, fantasy colorful wigs, natural looking wigs and another for "highlighted" wigs. However, I am finding that there are about two wigs to each doll now so I place those with their personal bags that hold their accessories too.

Wish I could use an entire closet just for the resin kids!!!

    27. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?
I buy several different outfits for my dolls.
(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customise them further with clothing?
      N/A
(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
It's about two-three per doll or more. I change them sometimes. When it's cold, for example.
Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
Yes, I buy outfits intentionally. Maybe it's because I'm looking for my doll's image.

    28. I now have my doll and can actually properly partake in these threads!
This makes me super excited. Ok, here goes :)

Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?
I knew what her character would look like as far as hair and eyes, face up and silhouette, but the actual details still illude me, and so I got two dresses at first, and used the closest one to her style, then bought an ensemble, and so for now, she has three outfits to choose from, but she keeps one on most of the time, changing the details every si often to avoid boredom.

(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customise them further with clothing?
I only take her out when I plan on playing with her, so I'm constantly in awe of how great she is, simply because I don't see her often. But if I didn't keep building her closet, I'd probably lose interest. I think one of my main attractions to BJD's is that they're dressable in ways that humans are not.

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
(I only have one, but I'm choosing to answer this anyway because I think it's also a cool question) I'd like to have a whole trousseau of clothes for my doll - like one of those old fashioned one with loads of pieces for every occasion, all beautifully matching and in gorgeous fabrics. I am currently biased tiwards the best outfit for her character. But as my closet grows, I assume I'll have one main outfit for everyday wear, and a bunch of others that I love for special occasions, just like with my own wardrobe. I have my favourite pieces for everyday stuff, and my favourite seasonal and occasion stuff.
I believe you have too many clothes when you forget about a lot of the pieces you have, and the pieces you have start to feel more like quantity is winning out over quality. I believe in a substantial amount of clothing, where every single piece is intentional and important. So as long as that stands, I don't think any amount of clothing is too many.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
Do I buy intentionally? I guess that comes back to the last part of the above question. I know what I want and have a basic idea of what I want, so I buy what suits and what fits. I guess that's intentionally. I also wait for a while before purchasing stuff I don't have an immediate feeling of "THAT THING! I REQUIRE THAT THING!" for, because as I said, I don't want to have a lot of clothes where I only really love a quarter of them, and quantity takes over from quality.

    29. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls? Hmm I'll know only with time. I think he'll have a deafult one tho.

(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customise them further with clothing? Of course not! He really likes the sweater and I like seeing him. With one, 2, million, or even without clothes.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally? I still dunno. xD

    30. Ii don't have many clothes but what I do have gets shared. My girls have a sorta default outfit or style and I just mix and match what I get. I tend to buy more dolls than clothes, so they tend to sit around nekkid for awhile till I finally get around to what style they need.

    31. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?

Oddly enough, I don't have a specific outfit for my dolls. Most of my dolls (those matching size) share outfits or accessories.

(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customize them further with clothing?

      N/A

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?

I would say that if I don't change their outfits often, once a year I try and give some of my dolls a new faceup. I believe that having too many clothes is a subjective and very personal perception since different people see quantity in different ways. Currently though, I'm keeping my dolls' outfits in several stackable clear containers -one for clothes, one for wigs, one for shoes, and one for props.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?

I tend to buy outfits, shoes, or wigs that are on sale, so my purchases are premeditated.

    32. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?

Each of my dolls has a few items in their style they use. Enough for two or three outfits if you mix and match pieces. Issac always stays in the same outfit though. He doesn't look right in anything else. I need to work harder at finding him clothes.

(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customize them further with clothing?

I get bored if I haven't done anything new in a while. Currently I'm bothered haven't build a room for them or at least given them furniture to sit on.

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
My dolls have styles they seldom deviate from. I have one box my bjd clothes go into, and when that is full, it's time to get rid of some. Just like my real closet.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?

I try not to buy since when I do I spend too much. Plus I'm trying to be a professional doll seamstress.

    33. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?
I have one main default outfit (bought) and a few other outfits mostly ones made by me.

(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customise them further with clothing?
nope I like being able to sew new clothes for my dolls and her default outfit is so adorable.

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
I have 4 including my default for one doll and for the other I have 5 peices of clothing.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
I do buy internationally because some of the international clothes are very well made and beautifull.

    34. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?
Several different outfits and they all kind of share a wardrobe.

(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customise them further with clothing?
I like customizing them occasionally cause its fun

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
I am definitely biased towards certain outfits

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
I will buy both if the price is right~

    35. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?
For me, this depends on the doll. There are some dolls which I buy fullset because I adore the way the entire thing goes together. I bought Ringdoll’s Warren because I loved his Victorian/Western vibe. I try other clothes on him occasionally, but I know he won’t stay in them.
For other dolls, I love to change their clothes, but I don’t have a lot of outfits yet!

(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customise them further with clothing?
There is an element of boredom with some dolls (only in the sense of clothes, of course). I have a Ringdoll Misha B I ordered because I really like the anime-shinsengumi style, but he wasn’t what I expected when I got him. Nothing else has even remotely worked on him, so he mainly just sits on a shelf waiting. I hope to find clothes that make him pop one day, but it hasn’t happened yet.

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
My ¼ girls have more clothes than anyone else, but that’s because I got a great deal on some clothes for them from other doll owners. I am biased toward particular outfits for them, and keep them in these outfits when they’re not out and being posed. I guess they have “dress up” clothes for play and “everyday” clothes for hanging out. :P
I don’t know when you have too many clothes. I don’t have a lot yet, so I haven’t reached the limit.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
I don’t buy a lot of clothes, but that’s because dolls eat up all my money. After getting a doll, there’s barely enough money left to dress them, let alone dress them well or in a variety of ways. I’m saving up now for clothes, but I’m worried that I’ll just spend that money on another doll, ha ha.

    36. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?
I usually get a bunch of outfits for each of my dolls.

(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customise them further with clothing?
I do get bored with just one outfit, but for some weird reason that boredom makes me pal around more with the doll. I've never been able to explain that, but whenever I want something for one of my dolls I do more with it.

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
I change Johnny's clothes on a regular basis, and I'll likely do the same with my future dolls. I do have a favorite look for Johnny, but he doesn't wear it all the time because it's a cardigan set. One simply does not wear cardigans year-around in southeastern Missouri.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
Sometimes. If a piece is cute but too much like something I've already got then I don't bother with it. I also think twice about purchasing knitwear because I knit and crochet on a fairly regular basis. On the other side of the coin, if it's something intregal to my doll's character I grab it, no questions asked. Johnny's must-have trinket is a pocket watch, for example.

    37. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?
When I bought my doll, I ordered several outfits with her since I knew I'd probably want them at a later date anyway, & wanted to save on shipping. I'm trying not to buy anymore clothes for now until I have completed each look.

(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customise them further with clothing?
I think the most fun thing about owning dolls is that they are a creative process and therefore never really 'finished'. If I feel bored with a look then I work on a new accessory to make it more interesting.

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?

I have favourite pieces of clothing but I change them regularly. I think you have too many clothes if you never wear them, or have no real attachment to them. The same goes for clothing in real life I guess!

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
I think it's really hard to buy bjd clothes unintentionally because you have to spend so much time searching for them & making sure they will fit well. Buying impulsively would be very expensive too!

    38. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?
I have lots of clothes per doll. They are all cosplayers of some sort, so they've got various costumes, then they have their every day outfits (casual, dressy, winter, summer, etc etc). I sew. I've got an immense stash of material. So I can do this. I do have several full-set dolls but they certainly don't sit about in those outfits much.
(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customise them further with clothing?
I cannot imagine just dressing a doll & leaving it sit. Gag.
(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
I have no idea what this 'too many clothes' could be LOL.
Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
I always make or buy clothes with either a character or a cosplay in mind. Now, MATERIAL, well, different story LOL.

    39. Currently, I have temporary clothes for my dolls, but in the future I'd like to have two or three different outfits for each. I don't want to get too crazy with clothes for them, but who knows. If I find something I think would look good on them I'd do my best to get it for them.

    40. I finally bought an outfit and wig after three months of owning my doll. She won't be naked anymore!

    41. I have only one doll, but another is paid for and should be here any time between now and and within a month.
The first has only the undies she arrived in, but I have the first outfit planned, will start it next week.

I intentionally did not purchase an outfit for either doll. The second is arriving sans clothing, face-up, body-blush, eyes or lashes, and her head will be separate for ease in face-up workshop. The first doll has two outfits planned, but I have not a clue on the second, and won't until she is here for awhile.

Part of the appeal is creating the whole effect, choice of wig, eyes, etc., all the way to the accessories and furniture/settings. Maybe the pets too. Going through the fabrics left from previous sewing projects, sopping on line or in shops for just the right material .....

Will there be many outfits for these dolls or the ones in the future, that is also part of the appeal, exploring where this takes me.

    42. Mostly empty. I've made a dress so far, but that's it. Otherwise only slopers as bases for patterns. I recently moved, so I didn't have any time or energy to put into making more clothes yet.

I also haven't purchased any clothing, either. Hope to do so soon!

She doesn't have a wig anyway lol. That's also a priority.

    43. none of my dolls have the right clothes right now they are all were clothes I found cheap on ebay until I can make them their perfect outfits so my doll clothes are empty lol

    44. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?

Each of my dolls has 2-3 outfits that they can rotate between. However, when I make the character, I have an idea of what they would wear and tend to keep the doll in that outfit, or a similar one.

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?

I am very biased to one outfit. As I said, I tend to keep between 2 and 3 for each doll, just so I can rotate them for a little bit of variety. I don't change their outfits regularly, just as I feel like it or if I'm going to a themed meet and the outfit they're wearing isn't as on point as a different one. I think the definition of 'too many clothes' depends on the owner and the doll in question. Some of my characters would be more likely to own many different outfits than others.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?

I see no problem with buying internationally if that's the only way to get the outfit I want. The only issue would be saving a bit longer to pay for shipping and a possible wait for customs.

    45. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?
I always get several outfits for all my dolls.
(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
At least 2 complete outfits (winter and summer) plus spare shirts or other times to change from time to time. I like to change them from time to time and taking pictures of the change. I do not think I have too many as long as I am able to keep them in a medium-sized box.
Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
I try not to buy by impulse so I always think carefully before purchasing items for outfits. Also my dolls have a very specific casual style (and one is a Souldoll Vito so his measurements are hard to dress) so the usual stuff won't fit them.

    46. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?

I buy several different outfits for my dolls. I may start with one to make sure the style and fit is a good match, but after that I buy each doll multiple outfits, shoes and accessories!

(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customize them further with clothing?

Never. If anything I wish I could lose interest in order to be able to fund some of my other hobbies! I have to force myself to split my allowance, otherwise I would blow all of my extra cash on my girls!

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?

Hitomi currently has five complete outfits, and Mariela has three. Of course I plan to expand on both of their wardrobes.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?

I buy internationally and nationally. I find that I have to bu internationally for my dolls due to their unique size.

    47. Empty! I have no clothes for my doll. :atremblin:...(But I am constantly looking!

    48. My bjds have some extra items but not a heck of a lot compared to some of my other dolls. I want to get sewing and make them more. I find some are enough of a pain to redress though, that they will always stay in what they have on. And some wear very specific looks that I probably will never want to change them. So the answer is closer to empty than wow look at all the stuff they have.

    49. My boys get what they want! I buying more stuff for my HID because I'm afraid he'll get caught if Ipelhouse decides to stop selling any of it & he won't be caught with out a change of 2 of clothes.

    50. Empty. I got my first BJD over 10 years ago, and my poor dolls have the saddest wardrobe. There aren't a lot of things that I like, and when I attempt to make things, I'm rarely happy with the clothing.

    51. I would say it depends on which doll I look at. Some of them have quite a large wardrobe while others has just the one set they are wearing. Since my SDF Loid just came home and his clothes is still on the way, he has nothing but promised from one of the dolls with more clothes. and yes i split the clothes to the dolls. i buy it for a specific doll and that will stay that dolls clothes even if i purchase something else for them.

    52. I wouldn't say my dolls' wardrobes are bursting, but all my dolls (except one whose character is notoriously difficult to find the right clothes for) have a good selection of outfits. Partly because I love collecting miniature clothes and accessories, but also because I feel more inspired to do things with my dolls, photograph them for instance, if I can change their clothes from time to time. The poor girl with only one outfit that fits her character is also my least photographed doll.

    53. Right now my dolls' wardrobe is a bit sad - I have just enough clothes to go around, and they don't necessarily suit the style. My focus for a while was buying dolls, rather than clothes. Now I plan to switch that around.

They do have a lot of accessories though, because they're much easier to make than clothes. So Melanie has one single outfit to her name, but she has multiple gemstone necklaces. And Chloe literally just has the dress she came in, but has a silk beaded lace shawl. (In fairness, she only arrived yesterday and is a funny size.)

    54. Have one doll so far, made about 55 outfit sets for her so far, definitely planning on making more. My next doll is a character with a limited wardrobe, so that should keep me restrained a bit.

    55. Can you say ditto to an image? Well, ditto to this one! I have my SD and MSD clothes on different racks, but I'd say volume wise it's about the same.

Suitcases?! What a great idea! I have some many failed and unfinished projects I just have nowhere to store them!

    56. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls?
Several, always. I want them to be able to change clothes from time to time, including seasonal wear, fun outfits, and in-character clothing for their stories.

(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customise them further with clothing?
No, Caprica is never boring. I do have two much smaller dolls with no clothes or faceups so I don't play with them yet, but Caprica is never boring. I do sometimes become more interested in her with different clothing.

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
Caprica has four outfits and more planned. She wears her Hello Miss J dress the most.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
No, it's never aforethought, I buy outfits I like or don't if I don't. I did buy an outfit for a doll I don't plan to own for YEARS, though, so that's something.

I'm very new to the hobby, having only gotten my doll last month, but in preparation for her I got her three outfits and a pet, and more recently I bought her a halloween outfit and some undies finally. No one mentioned that undies are basically critical, they save booty scuffs from dark coloured furniture and clothing. She has a lot of booty scuffs that I'm always cleaning off. :(

    57. Do you get one default outfit for your doll and then move on to the next or do you buy several different outfits for your dolls? My goal is for all the dolls in my collection to have full wardrobes - summer and winter clothes, as well as story-specific for the dolls which have stories. But everyone (except the newest girl, who just arrived 48 hours ago!) has at least one outfit and one set of sleepwear.

(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customise them further with clothing? It's the other way around, I'm afraid - the dolls without wardrobes are the ones I obsess over. Once I have a full wardrobe for a doll, I feel like I need to set her/him aside for a while and work on the others until everyone has enough.

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes? I go in cycles. Right now, in the fall, I tend to change everyone's clothes, and try to get new clothes put together. Most of the dolls will go into Halloween or autumn-appropriate outfits that I could never wear myself or put onto a real child (because it's Texas, and it stays hot during the day until November.) But then they will stay in those outfits until I change them for winter.

I'd like to get to where I change all of them more frequently, and put them on display in various parts of the house.

Honestly, for the off-topic dolls, I already have too many clothes. Those dolls have whole suitcases full! But the BJD wardrobes are slowly catching up.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally? Not sure what this means? I don't usually let myself shop for clothes for them, if that's what you mean -- both the budget and my overall need to use up my fabric stash keep me from seeking out a lot of clothes for them. But I do shop for shoes and things I can't craft, and every now and then that leads to me finding the "perfect" outfit for a doll, and I buy (after debating it for a couple of days.)

One doll is a limited edition so it will live in one outfit. My other doll I will change as mood sets me.

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
For my non limited edition doll I don't have any complete outfits. I just have stuff to put together.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
When I was a kid I accidentally bought chat sessions with people kids shouldn't be talking to. Really it was accident. I slipped and dialed the number by mistake. However, I have never accidentally bought clothes for dolls.

I would very like having several different outfits for my dolls~ I find it cute!! I'd be a little boring to me if they'd always wear the same thing.
I'd like my dolls to have like a default outfit, casual outfit, formal outfit, work/school clothing, etc.

(If you only have one) do your dolls ever feel boring? Do you lose interest in them because you don't spoil or customise them further with clothing?
My first doll had the same outfit for two years, I also only had that one doll during those two years. At some point, they had become part of the background, they didn't stand out. They were boring.

When I got them new clothing and a new wig, I suddenly got interested in my doll again and fell into the real bjd hell. Where I am right now><

(If you have many) how many per doll? Are you biased towards one particular outfit or do you change them regularly? When do you have too many clothes?
I don't think have many.. I have two of them.
My first doll (MSD) has three sets of outfits. I want to get them more. (One of them, they'll probably never wear again.. They already wore it two years in a row.!!) My second doll (SD) only has a shirt lol, but I'm planning to get/make a lot more for him!!
I'm currently waiting for three dolls (two are on layaway) and I don't have any clothes for them yet orz...
For my MSD doll, there's this dress I have I really like so they always wear it lately///.
I don't have too many clothes, I need more clothes LOL.

Do you buy or not-buy intentionally?
I'm picky with my dolls' clothing, not just anything will fit them// plus I want to buy clothing they'll wear!
I want to learn sewing, I design outfits for my dolls .. I'd like making them real.

    60. Well I have 2 dolls and different sizes i have a lot of clothes but I find myself fond of my Shibuya Rin limited set and even if I try on other sets i still return to that one
Different thing is my 1/4 size doll
Since there are not too much interesting clothes on the net i make a lot of clothes for her and thats why she is wearing often different outfits
