Youpla Dolls - Discussion - Part 1

Apr 15, 2017

    1. That's been my experience, too. Sometimes they even forget to scan the package.;)

    2. because postal services just pack them in a container and it sits at the airport untill there is a commercial flight that can take the container across the ocean this could take a while. Once packages are cleared by customs it will say ‘left the country’ but due to less commercial flights due to covid it can take several weeks untill it actually does. You won’t see an update untill the package is checked into us customs and released to usps. Untill then USPS website will not register. I use 17track.net for my international packages. Since they track several Postal and courier services its most of the time more clear on there what is actually going on.

    3. @Luna_and_Stelladolls - Thanks! I appreciate the clarification. I figured the package was sitting in a pile at the airport. It's been 10 days now. I just tried 17track.net to see how it works. It says the package is ready to leave as soon as there is room on a courier. So far it's taking longer than packages from Russia and Korea.

    4. Sometimes USPS doesn't admit that they have a package. Even before the current problems. I could track a package from Korea and know that it had landed in LA but it was sometimes three or four days before USPS admitted the package was in the US. I think they just let containers sit until they had time to process the packages. Currently times vary widely. I just got a little bubble pack that took thirty days to go from Chicago to LA!

    5. Lupita has finally landed in the US. Trouble is, she went to Chicago instead of New York, so now she has to backtrack to reach me. I hope it doesn't take 30 days like your bubble pack did, @nancy_schroeder_ca ! O'Hare used to have the reputation as the busiest airport in the US, which doesn't bode well. On the other hand, if it does take that long, by the time she gets here the weather is more likely to have cooled enough for me to paint her.

    6. @vermont chick That was an exceptionally long time. Most go through faster than that. I hope your Lupita flies through! It's better for her to wait for her faceup in the safety of your home.

    7. She's still there. I hope they release her by Monday. Totally agree it's better to wait at home.

    8. Lately I haven't seen much updating on the weekends.

    9. That wouldn't surprise me, although I did have an FID land in New York today. They scanned it about an hour-and-a-half ago. (Everything I ordered in the first half of the year is coming now.)

    10. It will be like Christmas in August! :) So many packages are delayed or lost. I have been waiting for an outfit to arrive from NY to WA shipped July 7th. :(
My Ophelie arrived pretty fast. I hope Lupita arrives this week.

    11. It has been Christmas in July here. Everything seems to be arriving at once but one package took a side trip to the USPS Mail Recovery Center after a long period of no activity.

    12. I hope your outfit shows up soon, @Oliveoil. It could have come from France in that amount of time. I ordered an in-stock OT doll from Fabric Friends and Dolls in Maryland last week. She arrived four days later, much sooner than expected. Meanwhile, nothing is being scanned today at either O'Hare or JFK airports. When those two arrive, that should be it for a while, although I'm hoping Youpla Celeste will arrive close to my birthday in September. A couple of weeks either way won't make a difference.

    13. Smart Doll arrived already?? :)
My package never got in the container to WA. Hopefully they will find it.
      Keep us posted on Lupita.

    14. At least your package was mailed in the States, so you don't have to worry about an overseas loss. With a tracking number they should be able to find it.
According to USPS, Lupita is still inbound into Chicago Customs, whereas the FID that landed in NYC yesterday is already out for delivery. Go figure.
SmartDoll arrived Saturday. I'll post photos to my Flickr, assuming it stops raining long enough for me to take some.

Edited on Tuesday morning to add: Lupita is out for delivery!!!:celebrate:cheer:dance

    15. I finally had good painting weather. Today is hot, humid and sticky--fortunately photography is not dependent on dry conditions. Here is Melusine. I love the pale eyes that Marie sent with her. With the tan skin they remind me of Vanessa Williams.

    16. Here's a side-by-side of Lupita and Ziya. They have the same stands and same shoes, so these don't affect their respective heights. I would have attempted a photo without stands, but after Melusine (Lupita) did a faceplant without one I wasn't taking any more chances.

    17. @vermont chick Lupita is very pretty. I like the eyes too. You did a nice job on faceup. :) Thank you for comparison photo. She is taller. What do you think of the new body? I am guessing you like it.

    18. Thank you @Oliveoil - I really enjoyed painting her. I like her very much, even though she is darker than I anticipated. For some reason I thought she would be light tan like Ziya, whereas she matches my Vaeron in coloring. I haven't tried posing the new body yet. I did try a dress on her that I had crocheted to fit Ziya (not the purple one). I could just get it on. It was very tight across the shoulders and quite a bit shorter on the new body. When the weather gets cooler I'll crochet her something in wool. Right now even cotton thread sticks to my fingers.

    19. Yesterday my Lupita arrived as well. I don't know why I had expected her to be the same color as my Ziya, when in fact Ziya was light tan and Lupita is tan :sweat. She's almost the same color as my Ophelie though :). And I also love how well the new body poses. <3

    20. Oh wow! They are both beautiful! Where did you get the wig on Ophelie? I love the cat ears. :)

    21. She's gorgeous! I love seeing all the new Lupitas!

    22. Thank you very much :D! Well, the wig on Ophélie I got together with the doll as a full-set during the last LDoll. However, I happen to have the very same wig in another color as well, and I can tell you that I got this other one from Fatiao's Doll Shop back then.

Thank you! Yes, I love seeing pictures of them, too. And isn't it strange that one hardly sees any of them? For instance I remember that the dark tan ones were sold out in a day, but I have yet to see a photo of one. Where are all the dark tan Lupita owners hiding their beauties? ;D

    23. @Sharkyra Thank you! I thought it looked like a Fatiao wig. Very pretty.

    24. Love your girls, @Sharkyra ! I also expected Lupita to be the same light tan as Ziya, but the tan is beautiful. Did you get her with the company faceup?

I'd like to see the chocolate skin as well as the dark tan, if anyone ordered them. I imagine both will be difficult to paint, especially the dark tan.

    25. Thought I would post a photo of my Olivia (Alish) with Ophelie. I love the quality of these dolls.

    26. Lovely! I am obsessively scrolling through the #YoupladollsLupita tag on instagram because I am so excited for my girl's arrival. :D:dance

    27. Love your Ophelie and Olivia, @Oliveoil - and I couldn't agree more with the quality. The resin is solid and smooth and the sculpting is first-rate. If for some reason I had to part with most of my doll collection, I'd insist on keeping my little Youpla family.

    28. Celeste arrived today. I thought she would take longer so I have nothing prepared. Well, I have boots, but that's about it.

    29. Hi everyone,

I ordered a blank Celeste and she has been shipped, I’m really looking forward to her coming home, she’ll be my first Youpla Doll~

    30. Congratulations @Kaname Kimura ! The first one is always special. Well, they're always special, but the first even more so.

    31. I also ordered a blank mint Celeste and she will be my very first Youpla as well! I'm so excited :dance

    32. @A_Nonyme.Art Nice! I hope our Celeste’s arrive home soon~

    33. Can't to see her well too. I think she's first mint Celeste I have seen.

    34. My Celeste arrived home today and she is breathtaking!!
The annoying thing is all the clothes that I thought would fit her don’t, does anyone have any suggestions where I could find clothes that fit her?

    35. I have a chocolate Lupita. Shown with Ophelie to show the difference between petal skin and chocolate. I also made a video on youtube posing her a bit, the link is in my signature.

EDIT: The reply I received from Youpladolls about the frost on my Lupita is that it's dust from sanding and that darker dolls need to be cleaned with winsor and newton (maybe alcohol too but I'm scared of it so I will not try that) or a magic sponge. I will keep the photos up for whoever needs them as reference.
I have a question, my Lupita has this weird dust? all over her. I washed her with soap but it didn't come off. Does anyone know how to get it off? I will seal her with my airbrush if there aren't any other suggestions, I just thought I'd ask
      Here's two pictures of it:

    36. I would totally use a magic eraser to rub that spot, then wash again before sealing :D

    37. I actually got an even better suggestion from a couple people to use a little bit of vaseline and to wipe it with cloth. I'm a little nervous but excited to try this!

    38. I've been following up the Chocolate/DarkTan-dust discussion! Is there any thread focusing on this specific problem?

    39. If there is, it would probably be in the Workshop section.

    40. :whee: one of those owners is me. I made my girl a wig, but I am literally a terrible procrastinator about faceups, so I get shy of showing my dolls off.

I love her, and she has great posing. In fact, she made me buy a Celeste right after. :wiggle

The only problem is dark resin tends to dry out on the surface, so she looks a little ashy sometimes. I feel like it changes with the weather?

    41. Ahw I actually managed to write a profile and take some pics but I’ve been otherwise superbusy with work. But here’s my dark tan Lupita.

Long story short: ordered her in Chocolate, she arrived, she was great, found her in Dark Tan, decided to go for it, sold the Chocolate Lupit and now I own this babe in dark tan and I absolutely Adore Her.

    42. Are you using MSC uv? If yes, this also often causes dark resin colors to look powdered. Or does this also happen without any sealant on her resin?

      @Antika Your girl is beautiful!

      • x 1
    43. I haven't used any MSC yet, this is just the dark resin doing its own thing. It probably happens on paler resin, but isn't as visible.

My theory is that most plastic products naturally have oils in them (most being a byproduct of oil), and it's just a natural reaction of the surface to dry air. Someone else mentioned putting certain SAFE oils on their doll I think? And I think that makes sense. But it might cause a reaction if you use it in combo with MSC?

    44. Don't mind me, just showing off this babe!

    47. Absolutely amazing girl! [IMG] I'm happy to join this thread because I received my Lupita in the middle of November and love her so much! But she doesn't have faceup because of closed borders.. Can't wait to send my Lupita for a spa :D

    48. Congrats! She is such a gorgeous doll! Has the CuTeST nose!

    49. Thank you! ♥
Agreed, her nose is the first thing I fell in love :D

    50. Hi ! I come with you to speak of this nice company !
I've one Tamara and soon a Ophelie :D

    51. I received my Ziya a couple of days ago and I am in LOVE! I just got a new wig for her yesterday (not the one in the photo), but haven't decided about it yet. Here's the first pic of Piper!

    52. she's lovely! congratulations!

    53. That blouse is as pretty as she is! The smocking is beautiful.

    54. Your Piper is adorable. I also love her blouse.

    55. Thanks! I need to take some new photos, though I'm not really sure about the new wig I got her either. I actually think I got that blouse of the MP, but it's been so long I'm not sure anymore!

    56. Hi! Does someone know Lupita's exact head circumference in cm?

    57. I've gotten a new wig for Piper and she's heading out soon for a new faceup from AngelToast.

    58. Crossing fingers that your girl will be soon back from face-up, @Kirahfaye . I'm sure she will be gorgeous.

This thread has become so silent, so maybe it's time to share a picture of my latest addition with you. She's my third Olive who just returned from her face-up session with Mikiyochii. I love her, but I still haven't figured out a name for her.
