Y.Cen Dolls Chong Lin

Jan 26, 2021

    1. Put in an order for Chong Lin F and M heads yesterday! (I slightly regret not waiting for YCen's response to my IG messages last night and it would've let me order directly from her *sigh* but all is well and done :)
I'm really hoping the new F head's eyes aren't too narrow and cause difficulties with the eyes.

Does anyone know the extra turnaround time if you ordered the jointed hands? Isn't it like part of the standard set normally?

    2. I’m debating grabbing one of these boys during the pre-order period. The only issue is the resin tone since I’m stuck between tan and light tan. I’m leaning towards light tan but would love to see comparisons if anyone else has come across a good one.

    3. Gosh he’s so pretty… I’m still awaiting Chi Ye. I think I’ll sit this one out.

Do you guys have any recommendations for clothing these tall bois?

    4. Re: extra static hands she did not specify in her Chinese order that it would be extra time, only that the jointed hands would be about an extra 1~2 months more. I would assume then that static hands do not add extra time, or negligible time. Jointed hands are not part of the standard order and have always been an optional add on in her official Chinese orders.

Re: comparison of colours, light tan is similar to 2021 onwards soom Tawny and tan is similar to soom bronze.

Re: clothing size, ID75 fits legs with a little bit of space as his legs are skinnier, but don't expect buttoned tops to do up because the chest is bigger. You can try loose fit ID75 but most popular TB shops that make clothes for large dolls will have YC76 as an additional size these days anyway.

    5. @Setsura - thank you! That was really helpful!

Do you happen to have any insight for how close to the release estimates YiCen is?

    6. My friend put the first release light tan WuQi body on a 2020 tawny Narmer and the match was basically immaculate. Tawny has gotten progressively redder since about 2021 I'd say, but I think it would still match the 2021 ones well and any recent ones shouldn't be too different either.

Yicen herself doesn't claim to match any colours, they're her own resin colours, and I find as a general rule of thumb her resin tends to be more on the slightly yellow side (esp that white) than the red side. Her tan (first WuQi release) is very similar to my soom bronze (but not the same) and I find it errs slightly on the yellow side. If you put it with my tawny heads it's slightly too dark, if you put it with my bronze heads it's slightly too yellow and just a TINY bit lighter. It's closer to my 2019 bronze (more yellow) than the latest bronzes which are very red, but if you're not that picky, or you get a faceup, you can probably match it without much problem imo.

You can probably use tan to match a soom tawny (the new redder ones) OR bronze without things looking too off but I don't think you can match a light tan with a bronze is probably how I'd put it.

I will say to take what I say also with a grain of salt as SOOM colours are notoriously all over the place, and as with all companies, different batches of resin will look different. However, if you're generally not too sensitive to colours, then I don't think there will be a big problem.

    7. Thanks for the details, @Setsura ! I caved in myself a day ago and ordered CL tan in the 77 body who’ll be shared between my floating tan heads.

    8. Really appreciate the extra time you’ve taken to describe the colors!
I also ended up ordering Chong Lin F 76 in light tan because it just sounds right and I’ve been wanting a big boy. The body sculpting and engineering also look really good and I’m super excited to be able to mess with him.

    9. I'm new to this thread and I am wondering if anyone could describe the normal skin color.

    10. I

    11. I pre ordered him in light tan,as I was afraid the tan might be a bit to orange going by photos.

    12. I was hoping the same with the eyes…I like how they look in photos though

    13. I'm going in with a more positive outlook with this since the head is a bit bigger. Its a 14.5 so I'm hedging my bets on glass eyes to get maximum eye visibility :D
I had this issue with a Ringdoll sculpt that had an extremely narrow eye and small head (non-75cm) so I had to be very conscious of super dark eyeliner for faceup and looking for super small iris molds. I think this will help with painting him, too :D

    14. I think the larger head will def make the difference.
I love my Ring dolls, but they have such small heads in my opinion. It’s harder to find wigs and eyes that fit well.

    15. I know we probably have a while yet but I've got everything ready for Chi Ye! I've got 2 outfits, his wig, eyes and shoes. So excited! :D

    16. What are other ~70-75cm boys that work well in scale to the proportions of YCDOLL? I’m still waiting on Chong Lin but heavily considering another companion.

    17. Idealian 75 looks good together.

    18. Moonlight let me know their orders are being sent piecemeal but they estimate that I should have a shipping notice in roughly two weeks. We’ll see but I’m excited and I hope the shipping cost isn’t too bad.

    19. I hope it’s not too bad…I’ve hard horror stories of how expensive shipping fro ycen is :...(

    20. Wish me luck! I'll let the thread know once I get my shipping notice. I am SO thrilled to meet him! I've got everything ready for him, I just need HIM!

    21. Best of luck! I’m excited for you! I’ve got months left of waiting still :atremblin

    22. Does anyone know the ankle measurements on the 76cm body? I'm looking for optional feet and Moonlight doesn't have the ankle size listed. :(

    23. I got my shipping notification! Has anyone used China Post Air before? If so, what was your experience like?

      • x 1
    24. I don't speak for myself but have read others go through China Post and delays are a possibility. Was it registered with tracking number, that should be helpful with the waiting, I hope.

      -------

Does anyone have the 77cm body?
How was it in terms of finding clothes? Also has anyone tried hybriding the 77cm body with other doll companies' heads? Can someone please share their experience?

I have three days to decide if I will take the last stock of Chi Ye on offer via Stacy's and wanted to split him with someone else as I already have a 76cm Chong Lin on the way and I want to reassure the person I'm splitting with will not have a hard time with the 77cm class

    25. I got my shipping notification too!

I used China Air Post for random Spreenow/Taobao purchases and imo its pretty fast. I had a shipping notice arrive within a week for some doll clothes and eyes.

    26. I’ve used it for lots of Taobao purchases and eBay purchases, and it usually takes about 1-2 weeks. There can be delays, but in my experience…delays can happen with everything these days

    27. Thank you, everyone! I’ve opted for China Post Air based on your recommendations. :D I can’t wait to see Chi Ye soon!

    28. I did CPA also for my Chi Ye 3.0 (76cm).

    29. I paid my shipping on Tuesday… about how long does it usually take to get your tracking number? I’m not complaining, I’m just excited to finally have this boy home!

    30. Anybody that ordered Chong Lin from Moonlight, get any updates ? I’m close to being able to pay him off…but haven’t heard anything about shipping dates. I saw Stacy’s has him in stock already? That seems really fast… he was just released in Jan.

    31. I ordered Chong Ling from Stacy's but I don't think that he was actually ready yet. They've had the listings for the 77cm version available for a bit so maybe they ordered/ were allocated some extras for late-comers? I thought it would be at least 6 months. Given that Chi Ye's ordering period was in October and we're just seeing them arrive home now, I thought that Chong Lin would be similar.

But they did email me a week or so ago saying that the artist had some extra Chi Ye 77cm that were looking for homes so maybe it was something like that where they had some extra Chong Lin.

    32. That’s what I was thinking, because it said IN STOCK and there were 2 available. But I was confused as it was the F version, and so don’t think he was sold in the previous Chong Lin release?
Like there is no way it can be that quick,I was thinking at least 6m,and it’s only been 3

    33. I was kinda confused at first as well because I was offered by Stacy if I wanted to purchase an in-stock Chi Ye from Stacy's as well, I had to double check that she wasn't offering Chong Lin by mistake. It seems like Stacy had chong lin in stock might be her dealer allocation/quota

    34. Maybe Yicen had some Chong Lin heads ready to go and extra 77cm bodies? I’m still iffy on the size and finding clothes otherwise I would’ve pounced.

      • x 1
    35. I know…I got the 76,as I figured it would fit into some ID75 clothing
But I’m kinda annoyed though ,as I wished I had ordered from Stacy’s to begin with….moonlight hasn’t communicated with me at all, they take like a week to reply (if at all) and then someone was telling me the charged like $300+ for shipping

    36. Possibly on Chi Ye since I was only offered the option for the 77cm body for Chi Ye from stacy.

I am also in the same boat about the 77cm, pretty hesitant too.... i ended up getting him still (clowning is strong, I'd say)

Given how popular the 76 body was, I was suprised that the 77 doesn't get the same love from makers. Right now I'm banking on eventually getting hold of some clothing for the 77cm body made for those 80cm dolls as they become more common.
      :aeyepop:

if its any comfort at all, Stacy hasn't emailed me anything about Chong Lin and I suspect he's still in production...I'm stalking YCen's weibo too just because I need to tide myself over waiting for any news :eusa_pray

    37. I finally got my tracking number! Now I have to stop myself from refreshing it every 10 minutes...

    38. Hello, did anyone have experience with Stacy's ordering Chi Ye from her?

I've asking for updates about the on hand doll I mentioned above and she finally said she will ship him to me today. I'd like to ask if anyone knows the box size and shipping weight of the dolls?

I already paid USD 100 on checkout for shipping (EMS) but I am considering DHL as the alternate option. I was quoted an additional 83usd.

I ask because I'm wondering if this is fair price for shipping as I've only ever ordered from Alice and I bought a fullset 73cm doll from her before I only added 23 USD to get the DHL option on top of the free shipping.

The speed of shipping would likely be the same for me with EMS being slightly slower at +2-3 days...except the chances of me getting taxed if I choose DHL is lower vs if I choose EMS and customs open my box....

    39. Moonlight BJD told me shipping has gone up all over the world. Obviously that’s not Stacy’s… was your purchase pre-pandemic? I noticed a pretty big spike in shipping price during and after the pandemic.

    40. nope I bought him last week! he was an on-hand chi ye from Y.Cen that got offered to her.

The price I got quoted from Alice was just mid last year and and things were already moving at that point so my comparison probably eh.
For context I also live in Asia hence seeing steep shipping fees isn't super normal for me unless its a doll I got from a US seller/dealer

    41. Oh I see! Please disregard my previous post, then. I don’t know the answer :(

    42. No worries, thank you!

I totally get why everyone's hoping for other official dealers for Y.Cen as the communication is just......tough. I'm suspecting there's something missing in translation somewhere when I email and its a little frustrating. I will say she is transparent for most part communicating. The shipping fee is still half of what was quoted by moonlight to someone but I seriously think for all the added costs creeping in which I thought I would save vs Uncle Dolls (her Thai official agent, who I was considering ordering from)...I would've just really tried to put effort in myself and order directly from her next time even if my Chinese friends start to choke me for asking them to check my grammar etc

    43. I'm losing my mind... my tracking hasn't moved in 3 days T_T I know it's on the way, I'm just impatient!

    44. hang in there our lovely boys will come home soon! whats the average shipping via air for you?
(lol i am ending up making this a waiting room)

      -----

my tracking finally refreshed and i can finally confirm SPO is based in China. My friend got quoted for 12USD to ship to her forwarder based in CN if anyone is interested to take that route down the line.

When i asked for a quote for dhl and eventually decided to stay with EMS, I got a refund for the excess shipping fee so I ended up paying around 75usd for shipping. I'm pretty pleased about this as i was not expecting a refund. given this, i am looking at a similar refund for Chong Lin when he starts to ship. What I am bracing myself is if SPO followed my request to lower parcel value and no physical receipts attached as this will determine if i will pay tax.

overall, i must say this is not too bad despite some stressing over the ordering situation haha!

    45. I'm not sure what the average is but according to Parcelapp, the last 60ish packages have arrived in 18-28 days, so I'm hoping that mine ends up within that timeframe!

    46. After 4 days of no updates, he's in Los Angeles!! :D He's so close!!

    47. I finally got my Chi Ye!!
After much trouble with my local customs office and some extreme value lowering of the package that got flagged...*sigh* i will definitely avoid ems for Chong Lin for sure. I can't stand to lose so much more $$ on them.

but gosh, I have other 73-75cmsand i'm unused to it he's a chonky man at 77cm haha! (he's the one on the left) I'm kind of liking his normal skintone and its reminiscent of Ringdoll's but I've been too occupied to take a pic to see resin match, maybe tomorrow.
the shirt and pants on him were originally in anticipation of Chong Lin who i got the 76cm model and was very very lucky the Kamizone shirt was loose enough to wear and the pants just barely closing. He will definitely be tough to dress up unless you take the 80cm clothing alright.

I'm excited to work on his faceup in the next couple of days :D

Here's a short unboxing reel i made on instagram for anyone who wants to see: Aegxir/Eggy on Instagram: "✨️ New dolly unboxing! ✨️

    49. Congratulations on the incoming arrivals.
I picked up my Chi Ye from the post office today.

I’ll have to get him in some clothes and take some pictures of his basic look in a couple of days and share. Here’s hoping I can conquer my first face-up soon on him before summer or I’ll have to wait for fall due to the humidity where I live.

    50. My big boi arrived and he's more gorgeous in person than I could ever have imagined. The clothing I bought for him doesn't fit and neither does the wig. He'll be a fun challenge for sure~

    51. I'm eyeing the in stock dolls for either Chong Lin and Chi Ye, but I can't seem to tell that big of a difference between the two sculpts :sweat. Not sure which skintones are still available, so may contact Stacy's ocean later.

    52. There are minute differences in the jawline, eye shapes, and lips. But I had to look at their blank face pictures to see it and it took a lot of back and forth. Hopefully Stacy’s has more helpful pictures.

    53. More wigs and clothing are on the way for MrBigHead. Hopefully they fit and look good!

    54. Just payed off my Chong Lin :dance now to keep being patient for him to be made and shipped! :wantshipping:

    55. I'm waiting for a Chong Lin E in WS from Stacy's. Ordered him Jan 25th and finished paying him off Apr 13th. He was likely ordered Feb 28th or so.

    56. This is driving me nuts 2.0

I'm looking at compatible jointed hands (that are not YCen's though from what I saw from her weibo, she will soon open for orders of the jointed hands separately) I don't think I can wait another few months so I'm considering other options for the hands *and* feet.

The 77cm version is proving hard for me to find non-custom clothing and the shoes are a little on the hit or miss side.... so now I'm considering swapping out the feet and hands to give me better options. Has anyone had luck hybriding their 77/76c with other body parts?

    57. I just got an email from moonlight telling me to pay off my balance…and I payed it off in MAY?! I have the receipts to to prove it,but they’re not responding to my messages. Anyone else heard anything from moonlight about Chong Lin?

    58. Is it possible that was shipping you were paying for? They sometimes don't charge me for shipping till it's done on outfits. Also, aren't they notorious for being like that? Could always leave them a question in a public way, like on their IG on a pic or something.

    59. Wait, is he shipping already? I have not gotten any notice from SPO on Chong Lin and shipping out.... hmm.

      ---

On a different note, since nothing else has been stated but just a teaser about "little ones" I think this is still on topic:

and I'm still waiting on the jointed hands pre-sale ... (but still looking for hand alternative recommendations!)

    60. No,they were asking for the same final payment for the doll. I Finally got through to them after sending multiple messages and screen shots. And the ly said sorry for the mistake…they forgot to take me off the list as payed. :pout: Still no word of shipping…And I worry how expensive that will be,as they seem crazy high.
