Y.Cen Dolls Chong Lin

And congratulations on ordering him!

I am very excited for Chong Lin! I have been following this artist since Flickr day (I am in a hobby for a long while LOL). I ordered him in Tawny and hope that the color is similar to SOOM Tawny, but it is ok if it is not the same!
I do my dolI faceup and I am still doing research on his faceup but the most challenging thing is that I have never done faceup on a sleeping face before so certainly will be out of my comfort zone.
Since he is Idealian75 size, he will have mixed of modern clothing and Chinese traditional costumes (just like all my boys LOL).
Oh yes, he already has a name: Apophis or Apep for short (Yep, the one and only Egyptian God of Chaos).
Nice to meet you and it is good to have someone waiting for this handsome Bae together!

Both heads are super gorgeous, but the little smirk on the B head is *chef’s kiss*.

I received a confirmation from Moonlight BJD House that I will received Chong Lin in Tawny.

When I first pre-registered, they told me that there is a need to have enough people order him in Tawny so they can move forward with the Tawny skin order. They told me if there is not enough people order, my Chong Lin will be automatically change to Tan. I was so afraid that I will not be able to get him in Tawny and Tan will be too dark for me. So I email them after order period closed to see and they confirmed that I will have him in Tawny. I am very happy.

Plus one for Chong Lin! I’d never heard of Yi Cen until he popped up on Moonlight BJD’s Instagram, but was immediately spellbound. Fastest I’ve ever placed a doll order. I ordered him in tan with the A head, and am currently thinking long white hair, especially if I could find a wig like the ones in the promo pics

Looking forward to receiving him, and to seeing what you all choose for your beautiful Chong Lins!

 

I can't wait to see everyone's photos of Chong Lin when he arrives.
He's a gorgeous sculpt, and if I hadn't recently started a layaway for a Ringdoll boy, I'd have ordered him. If there'd been an option for the individual head, then I would have gone with that. I'm just hoping that there will be another order period for him in the future!

 

I hope she releases him again, but when I asked MoonlightBJD, they said this was currently the only release she was planning. The body looks so amazing. She was one video on her IG where she's posing the leg and he just seems to hold every pose!

Hello ! I have ordered Chong Lin too, in NS. I fall in love, because he is similar to my main OOC, with the white hair and pale eyes, so I had to order him
Can't wait the 6 months (at least) to get him

 

Hopefully there will be enough interest in a rerelease that the artist decides to do a second preorder at some point!

Hi all, I hope you are doing well.

While I am waiting for my Chong Lin, I have been busy researching for his faceup. I have eyes for him already and for clothing, I do not think her will have any problem sharing with other boys in my Harem .

If the production time stay true (10-11 months) and this is September, so, not too long to go and I am excited to see him!

 

I already have my outfit, shoes, and wig ready for mine. The eyes are on the way.
Last month Moonlight reached out to me about the balance and said they would be ready to ship in the next 2 months. So at the latest hopefully they'll get them in October!!

Y.Cen is having a family emergency so the shipping of the dolls from her to Moonlight is taking longer. Moonlight said they should start shipping at the end of this month or the beginning of next month.

Hello ! I recieved an email from Moonlight, asking to pay +270$ for shipping by EMS for Chong Lin, the insurance is for a 100$ package. I already paid 85$ in January. It seems very pricey...
My last order with Ringdoll costed 144$ for 2 SD dolls in the same order !
I'm a bit upset because I can't pay this huge extra amount The other option is China Air Mail, which is an +40$ extra but no insurance...

 

I don't have a doll on order from this artist but I do have a doll ready to ship from a different Chinese artist. Last week they quoted me $175 for my doll in shipping, which I paid. However, today they said that EMS returned some packages to them because they did not calculate the shipping cost correctly. Apparently EMS now uses volumetric costing for their packages, which is way more expensive. This is apparently a very recent change. So I am waiting for an update from the artist, who is waiting on information from EMS as to whether they will have to revise the shipping charges. But that may explain the major cost increase for your shipping quote.

On the other hand, someone in a Discord doll server I am in was apparently quoted $600 (!!!) from Moonlight for their Y.Cen's shipping via EMS.

 

Yeah, shipping was really, really pricy. Higher than I was expecting. I wonder how big the box is going to be?

 

I was quoted $470 for EMS personally, and I’m shocked. I have other packages coming in through EMS and the price hasn’t changed one bit from the norm. Granted, those are coming from Japan, not China, but I wouldn’t expect a huge difference? Moonlight said it might be lower after Christmas, so I decided to wait. They sent me another package through ChinaPost in July that still hasn’t arrived.

 

I received the same message from Moonlight as well that the EMS shipping cost may reduce after Christmas. Mine EMS quoted was not far from yours @Natty. I am crying. I also have packages from other Asian countries that shipped via EMS, and the price is increased but not outside the norm. I have not decide what I will do yet, I asked Moonlight for more information and will wait for the response before I will make the final determination.

 

Are Your dolls shipped from China or Canada? I thought they are shipped from Moonlight, Canada. What crazy shipping prices.

Something doesn’t smell right here. If shipping from China is so expensive right now, why is Alice’s Collections running a free EMS/DHL promotion on large dolls? They ship from China too in many cases…

 

@Natty - Alice collections uses a variety of express shipping carriers, not just EMS. Some companies can get a discount on shipping services from third party carriers. For example, at my job an express overnight UPS (1 pound weight) package sent to a nearby city costs $45.00~ but they have a discount that makes the total cost only $14.00~.

 

I agree. I don't really see any other companies charging quite as much as Moonlight for EMS.

 

Ahh that makes sense. Still, why aren’t we seeing these prices elsewhere? We can’t be the only ones on DOA with dolls ready to ship from China, but unless I’m missing something, I’m not seeing any mention of it in other threads.

 

I reached out to Moonlight, and apparently Chong Lin’s packaging is so large that it triggered the volumetric rules @KittyFields was referring to. I’m a bit surprised but I guess that makes sense. Fingers crossed it goes down after Christmas!

 

I got my boy today. I posted a box opening on my Instagram here.
I am so impressed with the engineering of this boy. His knee joint is amazing. I received him in Coco and the color is so lovely.

I was frustrated with the wait and paid for my Ching Lin to be ship via DHL. He is estimate to come home 2/3/2022. It was very expensive but I do not want to wait until mid February to see if the EMS shipping price may drop.

By the way, Wu Qi is tempting and I don’t think I will win this battle. He is driving me insane with his eyes and lips. Did I mentioned he looks so delicious in Tan….
(I am in trouble) LOL.

 

Does anyone know what their Taobao is? I can find the weibo but no Taobao with that or a related name. I thought I had it (from the Flickr group I think) but I think I may be wrong because it hasn’t updated in forever

 

I’m not sure they have a Taobao. I asked the artist on Instagram and they said they only sold three ways:
1) Tencent QQ fan group (in Chinese only)
2) Directly on Instagram (in Chinese only)
3) MoonlightBJD

I totally caved for Wu Qi. He looks so stunning. That expression!

Totally agree with you guys on Wu Qi, he gives off such amazing antagonist vibes! Unfortunately between Chong Lin’s shipping, some home repairs, and an emergency vet bill (puppy is fine now thankfully) I’m out on this one. Looking forward to seeing what you guys do with him though!

 

@Natty he is coming!!! Congratulations!!!! My Apophis came home yesterday (2/1/2022) that was super quick from DHL shipping. He came half of his body unstrung so it maybe for safety reason. Last night I was admiring his posing ability. Wow! No complain here.
I can’t wait to paint him and his Warrior hanfu is coming so I can put him together for a photoshoot.

I could not resist Wu Qi and ordered him in Tan. After this, my wallet asked me for a divorce LOL.

 

So I missed out on the Chong Lin order so I'm very interested in Wu Qi.
I have a few Questions for those with Chong Lin in hand and a Soom Idealian 75...
Anyway anyone would be willing to take a photo of the Y. Cen Body next to a Soom 75cm Body; so I can see full body comparisons next to the other, leg thighs, etc. ( one full nude shot is fine and a full side view would be awesome)? Also a comparison head shot of the Chong Lin head next to any Soom Idealian 75 head? ( A front view and a side comparison would be much appreciated.)
I wanted to see if the heads were similar in size to fit with my resin guy. Can the bodies swap heads fine? Plus do you like the resin quality? It it as good as Soom's Idealian?

Sorry for all the questions gang, I just wanted to know a few things before I took the plunge and I know he has a short order window period. Plus I'm sure this information will be helpful for others in the future.

Anyone know if Y. Cen will re-release Chong Lin again? I think I read in a instagram comment that she would but I could of misread it.

Oh, and Can you order Y. Cen Ball jointed hands along with the full doll at moonlight so they match the body?

Wu Qi is so stunning. After receiving my Chong Lin, I'm such a fan of YC Dolls now. XD I really want to get Wu Qi. The tan looks really pretty. I was thinking of maybe going for a light tan?

I have a picture of my Chonglin next to a Soom idealian body on my Instagram (it's in my box opening picture). I don't know if I have time currently to take other pictures, but if no one else does it first, I'll get do my best to get around to it. The heads are a pretty similar size. I think they could easily swap bodies.

I actually like the resin of YC a little more than Soom, but they're both great to me. YC Dolls has a really nice feel to it.

Also, YC dolls come with Jointed hands! So no need to pay extra. They're already included when you order the dolls.

I'm not sure if she'll rerelease Chong Lin. Maybe try asking her? Let us all know what she says, if you do.

Thanks for the reply, it definitely helps me lean toward getting him and helped clarify some things that I was unsure of since her dolls are just starting to arrive. Great to know the ball jointed hands are also included with the doll that’s awesome, it helps me justify his cost. LOL.

The tan color is lighter than I expected in person, but I’m happy with it either way. Not sold on this wig for him (a darker color might work better?) but his uniform fits him perfectly He’s such an amazing doll - I’m so glad I sprung for him!

Looking forward to seeing what you do with Apophis!! Glad to hear he made it safely!

@Chikku I have Chong Lin in light tan and I am still trying to see if I like it. To be honest, the Light Tan has too much yellow in it that I will have to let myself warm up to it. So with Wu Qi, I want to have him in Tan. Dark, Tall and looking delicious .

@Natty Congrats on his arrival! Yeah! Luca looks great I love the wig and uniform on him.
On other note, you mentioned you are in Chicago, I went to SIUC in Carbondale and I visited Chicago and St. Louis many times. I love Chicago but it just way too cold for me!

 

Oh wow, he looks fantastic! That uniform is perfect on him. Is he in Tan? Or Light Tan? I'm so glad he arrived quickly to you.

It's a bit hard to tell the undertones in the colors! Honestly, your boy in light tan is what made me think maybe I should do tan hahaha. I also thought about Wu Qi in NS, but I have to go with tan of some sort! He just looks so good in both the tan options and I love how tans & browns age on dolls. Who am I kidding-- he looked too good in all the colors! I sort of wish she had coco for this preorder, but hopefully, she'll bring it back in the future.

Her including jointed hands 100% helps justify the cost lol. They also have amazing posing. Ha, not to be the devil on your shoulder or anything. But they're such cool boys!

 

@PowerAndWeakness the resin is more of glossy not matte. So it reflecting light and from photography stand point, I am not a big fan of that.
Just for reference, Soom tawny color has more red compare to Yicen light Tan.

On posing ability, I am very impressed with Yicen body! My boy can stand on his own and I absolutely love the elbows jointed. It is a dream come true for me to be able to bent his arms and he hold the pose. Oh yes!

You can put Soom ID head on Yicen body but only head that can use S hook. For example, my Soom Phonolus can be on Yicen body because he does not have a brain (this sounded weird LOL) and faceplate. Hence, I am unable to put Soom Zak on Yicen body because he has the brain part and faceplate.

The jointed hands are nice and wow it can hold many heavy things! One of my friend said that Yicen’s jointed hands can hold resin sword well and for long period of time. I will play around this weekend. The only thing I am not liking is the fingers are too long but this doesn’t bother me. The jointed hand color matched with the body. I am assuming they made body and jointed hand from the same batch. Did I mentioned that the jointed hands fully strung? So no extra work. Yeah!

My house is full of Soom Idealian (and more to come LOL) and I am going for Wu Qi and this will be second doll from Yicen. I admired Yicen, they are very talented artist. I love both Soom and Yicen, they are unique in their own way, and to me, no comparison needed.

Hahaha I moved here from Raleigh, NC last year, and though I’m originally from the Midwest, -15 windchill and multiple snowstorms in a month have me questioning my life decisions xD Btw I checked your Instagram and I’m not sure if I missed it, but I didn’t see any pictures of Apophis. Do you have any of your gorgeous boy?? Also the tan is such a gorgeous color, I’m really warming up to it - I’m sure your Wu Qi will look stunning in it

@Chikku Thank you!! He’s tan, it’s lighter than I was expecting but still lovely, I’m not sure if I’ve seen a tan like it from a different company I can grab some pictures in different lighting in the morning for comparison!

Thank you on your insight on the Y. Cen Body and the Posability and mentioning the glossy resin. It's very helpful getting different perspectives. I've never had a glossy resin BJD before. I only had Soom and Iplehouse and a friend of mine had had Dollshe's and a DOD in the past but now just Volks. So I've only seen these Companies resin in person over the years. Not that Glossy resin is a bad thing or anything but do you think Mr. Clear (flat) spray might help tone down the gloss? Sorry, I'm such a newbie in that area.

Curious, Does your Chong Lin head fit on the Idealian 75 body? or no? (if your able to try it out of course.)

Thanks for the note on the ball jointed hands being a little long at least if I order him today I won't be surprised on that artistic interpretation. Thanks for letting me know the ball Jointed hands come strung already, another reason to justify cost although, I'm no stranger to stringing ball jointed hands. (*looks at Soom Idealian Ball jointed hands over the years.)

And of course to every one in the Y. Cen room, please feel free to spam away your eye candy when you get yours in or finished to a vision you wish to share.

 

His feet look bigger than a soom idealian 75… will he fit in their brand shoes? Wanted to know if he could use the shoes I have or if I’ll have to hunt for something else.

 

I put him on Chelsea boots I got from Soom a while back and they are perfect fit. So they can share shoes.

They can also share pants. However, I tried button shirts on him and the top two buttons won’t close because his chest part is more like a person who workout and develop nice chest muscle .
So they can absolutely share shoes and loose fitting shirts. They can also share wigs too.

I have Eid tops here since I liked a little room on the idealian torsos. So that will work perfect.
