v would you rather take your doll on a year long trip and have them end up with a broken finger or leave them behind and have them safe but not able to see them for a year?

 

haha actually going through this decision right now. XD Going to be moving overseas in a month and dont want to leave them all behind. I'd rather have a few with me than leave them all. I'd be too sad without them I think. Broken fingers can be fixed.

Would you rather have your doll be faceless for a year or without clothes for a year?

 

Nekkid! I think they would creep me out too much without their faces.

If you had to leave for an extended period of time, would you rather leave your dolls with a friend? Or keep them in a storage unit/ attic?

 

Well I dont have any doll friends that live close enough to me to leave them with. Would be nice to have them loved and played with, but I think it would be hard to get them back if they get attached. So I'm storing mine in a closet at my parents. ^^ So storage~

Would you rather have dolls with a horror theme or ultra fluffy/frilly?

 

Probably ultra frilly/fluffy, but before I got her, I did briefly consider putting large acrylic eyes onto the horns of my Ada and molding some gore around them and then blindfolding her actual face, but the faceup the previous owner did was too cute to even consider wiping haha. I DO have three frilly dolls coming in, though

Would you rather only be able to do high quality faceups and low quality photography, or low quality faceups and high quality photography?

 

Amazing faceups. My photography and faceups both suck so it wouldn't change much.

Would you rather make a doll based on a TV/anime character or one of your original characters?

 

Anime characters. My original characters do not need to exist in resin as well as in novels-in-progress.

Would you rather have a doll with no wig or no face-up for a year?

 

No face up. I can't stand it when my dolls are wig-less.

Would you rather own 100 dolls with barely enough clothes, wigs, eyes to go around. Or 1 doll that has plenty of everything for itself.

 

One doll. Naked, bald dollies creep me out. And don't even get me started on eye-less ones, all staring at you, following your every movement.... *shutters*

Definitely turtle!

I'd rather make/do it all myself. I really enjoy making clothes for my dolls. I generally end up liking them better.

Would you rather take your dolls outside everyday or keep them boxed up all the time?

 

I'd rather take them outside everyday. Asul's already yellowing and Xephanes is grey skinned.

Would you rather cross dress your dolls (if you don't have proper clothes) or leave them naked?

 

Definitely cross dress my dolls! Androgyny is so beautiful

Depends on the character, but I have both. Most of them will have human ears though.

Would you rather have a doll with weird looking hands, or weird looking feet?

 

Feet. Those are easily hidden by shoes... and if they are so weird that shoes will not fit, I think I could make feet and hide them in shoes (cause I would not be able to make pretty feet).

Would you rather have your favorite doll suddenly be deemed off topic OR have every time you try to post about or discuss your favorite doll you get a forum error?

Would you rather have one of your dolls able to move by itself or able to talk?

I already own my grail doll, but if I found another grail, I don't think owning it is worth my entire collection, so I'd rather never have that grail.

I'm making one right now, actually! Honestly though, I think making eyes and clothes and wigs is more useful nwn;;

Would you rather buy your grail sculpt heavily modded to the point of it not looking much like your grail anymore, or so greened/yellowed that not even blushing could salvage the color?

 

Probably heavily modded. If it's just the head and it was really green/yellow then I probably wouldn't be able to find a body to match and that would be much more disappointing. :<

Would you rather order a doll with the company faceup or leave it blank until you can send it off to a faceup artists?

 

I actually usually fall in love with the factory face-up and wouldn't want a different face for my doll. But that could change!

Would you rather be a face-up artist or a sculpting artist?

 

^ Face-up artist! It means I get to work with everyone else's sculpts. Think of the potential!

V Would you rather have one grail doll or spend the money on getting several other dolls?

 

Eyes definitely. There are so many different things that can be done with both, but they would look much more diverse with individual hair shades. Limiting the eyes by the color alone, on the other hand, still leaves open many possibilities. Plus, it would look remarkably creepy.

Would you rather have dolls with broken, reglued fingers on their default hands, or with impossibly fiddly jointed hands that barely behave, even after wiring?

 

^ I'll take the impossibly fiddly jointed hands! Just cuz I'm something of a tinkerer and I'm sure that even with the wiring fail, I'd eventually figure out how to correct the problem. Or I wouldn't, which would give me an eternal project (which is fine too!)

v Would you rather have a bunch of perfectly made store-bought outfits for your crew that don't really mesh with any of their senses of style, or some not-really-awesomely sewn outfits from friends that match up with their style sense exactly?

 

some not-really-awesomely sewn outfits, because is kind of difficult to find clothes that are part of their style and because i like handmade stuff

I would rather have a few that I really love and mean something to me.

I'm a fan of historically dressed dolls, actually.

Would you rather have a big wardrobe for your doll or just one "signature" outfit?

 

Big wardrobe, probably. I love to mix and match and add layers when I dress them.


Would you rather have a doll with a very beautifully sculpted body with few joints and limited mobility, or one that is incredibly posable but has a lot of torso joints that looks strange undressed?

 

The beautifully sculpted body with single joints all the way!~ You can use wire in the body to make them pose better, this sometimes causes large gaps, but for me, it's better than a weird looking body with a million joints! Plus I like the simplicity of them!

Would you rather go to doll meet's in a public setting or a private one?

 

I like public settings personally. I like seeing the reactions that we get from people in our city. Plus there's usually good photo opportunities outside or in public.

Would you rather a beautiful doll that yellows rapidly or a not so beautiful doll that will never yellow at all?

 

I would rather have a beautiful doll that yellows rapidly. Beauty is ephemeral and I just have to spend more memories with him/her!! (Plus I don't know how to mod dolls ;; v ;; )

Would you rather sew for your doll or would you rather commission people?

 

Haha, how fitting! I just tried my hand at sewing for the first time today and it was pretty frustrating. If I had the money I would be more than happy to commission other people to make me glorious outfits for my dolls... but considering my current situation I would rather sew the clothing myself.

broken. in both cases I would be sad, but if it was stolen I would be so mad and OFFENDED and out to kill on top of that. screw you thief! you don't deserve this doll or the money from this doll!

would you rather have only male bodies or female bodies for your dolls?

 

I think I would rather have all male bodies, since 1. most of my dolls are male and 2. even my females are very masculine. Plus I like the challenge of making clothes for guys.

Would you rather have all of your dolls spontaneously grow to human size, or shrink to the size of apples?

 

Grow to human size,i'm not a fan of tiny things in general *too clumsy*

Wigs. Definitely. I have way too much great clothing than to just reduce it all to ash. I can just go wig shopping again, it's not like I have all that many to begin with.

Hounds definitely,I like the big ones.

Would you rather have a doll house where they can lounge or a cabinet where they showoff on their stands.

 

Doll house. I plan on building a set of cubes into a house soon enough!

Hm... Probably wigs? I can't make either, but wigs seem like they would be more useful, since head sizes seem to vary a lot more than foot sizes, IMO at least.

Would you rather have several dolls and not enough room for them, or have one or two dolls in their own rooms/spaces?

 

One or two in their own spaces (hopefully they learn to share spaces). I'd feel bad if the dolls are all cramped together.

Would you rather have dolls displayed or kept in box?

 

Displayed! I didn't buy them to stash them away. I want to mess with them move them around, be inspired by the clothes they wear.

Would you rather have jewelry or accesories like glasses or cameras for your dolls.

 

Accessories. I'm not into jewellery myself, so I can't expect these girls to either >.<

... I already survive on the same drink forever. I drink water and tea. That's it...

Would you rather spend the money on materials to make doll cloths yourself or use that money to buy store-bought clothing?

 

Make the clothes myself. Money for nice clothes would cover a whole lot of nice fabric. Unless we're talking about that skinny 14 cm one.... One of these days I'm goona pay Spampy Stuff to make her some clothes.

Would you rather all your dolls had the wrong wig or the wrong eyes?

 

The wrong eyes, I think... That is difficult.

Would you rather have your dolls all be the whitest available or the darkest available?

 

I'd rather have the whitest available. Coz i like elfy types and they seem to always be papery or glowy in a way

Would you rather buy a used doll from an owner with loads of pets who've been all over the dolls/clothes/wigs or from an owner who smokes around the dolls?

 

An owner with pets. Most pet smells and fur can be removed relatively easy, but tobacco smoke can leave a smell for years and cause discolorations.

Would you rather buy a doll from a company with bad communication and long shipping times, but with good quality, or from a fast and easy to deal with company with poorer quality?

 

Considering I've already done both? The better quality product is the way to go in the end. It might take forever to get there, but at least it is sturdy and will hold up over time. Not to mention, in the case of dolls in particular, quality is a part of bonding. The pricetag, no matter how cheap or expensive, is irrelevant if the doll cannot hold the most basic of poses, or looks nothing close to the owner's desired aesthetic.

Would you rather...

Commission your friend, whose faceups you don't happen to like, to decorate your doll, or commission a respected faceup artist whose style you enjoy and risk the possibility of insulting your friend?

 

Given only those two choices, I would go with the artist I like, though I do all my own faceups in reality.

Would you rather buy a doll from the company and wait 7 months for it new, or buy the same doll secondhand (but in new condition) at a 15% markup and have it arrive within two weeks, though the seller is rude and communication is subpar?

 

New with the wait. Bad communication gives me heebie geebies and honestly, unless the second hand one comes with extras, a markup will never sell me on a purchase.

Would you rather only have floating heads for five months or only have headless bodies?
