Change resin colors because I don't think I could live with that many girls. And the options for resin color is manifold.

Would you rather fan dolls or original character dolls?

 

All OCs. My attempts at fan dolls have all turned into OCs anyway.

Would you rather have all your dolls have different eyes or different wigs?

 

Different eyes! I've got most of them wearing super cheap Ebay glass eyes and they just don't do it for me, but all the wigs have been carefully selected and curated for quality lol.

Would you rather add elf ears to a standard head or remove elf ears from an event head?

 

Elf ears to a standard head any day! I want all the elves! And the idea of modding a limited head is just wrong to me. I'm just picturing someone modding a Lucywen elf's ears and cringing.

Would you rather shell your OC with a doll you can afford and upgrade later, or wait until you can afford the perfect sculpt?

 

The perfect sculpt. If I'm going to spend the money to shell a character, I'd rather save up and do it once.

Would you rather make your own dolls and buy the add ons, (wig, eyes, clothes etc) or buy your dolls and make all the rest?

 

I'd much rather buy a doll and make wigs, eyes, and clothes! Doll making seems REALLY hard.

Would you rather buy a doll that's perfect for your character but the wrong skin and dye it, or buy a less perfect doll that's the right skin color?

 

Dyeing can be a little hit or miss, but I think I'd rather give it a go and have the perfect doll than just settle for one that I'd probably regret eventually.

Would you rather be gifted $20,000 for dolls and accessories, or $20,000 for the vacation of a lifetime?

 

Vacation! I'll save for the dolls later, I can't even imagine spending that much on them.

A discontinued doll coming back or a doll still in production coming out with a limited version (fantasy parts, more resin colors, etc)?

 

Discontinued doll coming back; there seems to be a good number of mods to do fantasy parts and the like.

Best friend for sure. My husband is super supportive and encouraging and interested in his own things (which I try to encourage too!) I wouldn't change him for the world.

Would you rather have fantasy color or fantasy shape (centaur, mermaid, satyr, that kinda thing)?

 

At this point, another fantasy shape. I do have 2 anthros and I enjoy them. The fantasy colors just don’t really call to me that much right now although some of them are so striking and beautiful, especially with creative blushing. I like to look at them for sure.

would you rather suffer the extended wait time for one certain doll or is it so much of a deterrent that you have decided to get one or more different dolls instead because you can’t endure a long wait?

 

Oh snap! I kind of simultaneously am doing both these things atm. But I'd rather the second (get one or more different dolls); much more exciting.

Would you rather... Keep a doll you couldn't 'bond with'/decided you didn't like, or sell your favorite doll?

 

KEEP THE DOLL I never want to sell my favorite dolls! If nothing else, the unliked doll can be a model for making clothes or wigs!

Would you rather go to a lot of small doll meets or one big convention?

 

The big convention which is sort of surprising since I'm somewhat of a solitary
introverted sort but I've attended both and there is so much more opportunity
for creative expression at the larger ones.

Would you rather have a single curated outfit or several mix 'n match pieces.

 

A single curated outfit. If I have to be broke and live with my doll looking the same sort of cute every day for eternity, that would be fine as long as she looks complete. Also, as into fashion as I am, I'm not the best with picking out mix-and-match pieces I can be satisfied with for longer than three seconds.

Would you rather try to dive into faceups on one sculpt you love without much experience, or spend the money practicing on a few sculpts you aren't as attached to that cost a little less first?

 

Faceup on one sculpt I love. I know that I can always start over until I get it right. Plus the inspiration by the doll I love will help me do my best.

Would you rather have custom eyes at a higher price or cheaper eyes that sort of go with the character?

 

Cheaper eyes that are pretty good. Wigs need to be more suited to a character or it annoys me.

Would you rather have an easy time finding eyes for a doll, but go through six wigs before you find the right one, or vice versa?

 

Vice versa. I currently have an easy time finding, storing, and giving away eyes. Wigs, not so much.So I'd rather go through a bunch of eyes than a bunch of wigs.

Would you rather have one pair of perfect shoes, or five pairs of so-so shoes?

 

I think one pair of perfect shoes. I do like buying doll shoes, but I'm constantly feeling like I never have the right pair for this outfit!

Would you rather have the ability to change your doll's look via multiple heads/faceplates or multiple wigs and eyes?

 

Probably the heads/faceplates, but only to change their expression. I usually have a pretty specific character in mind with my dolls, so I don't like to change them much when I get them how I want them. But I would LOVE multiple heads/faceplates to give the character more expressions (sleeping, winking, smiling, frowning, that kind of thing).

Would you rather be given the money to buy your one dream doll, the ultimate grail, on the condition that you never buy another doll again; or be given double the amount of money to buy as many different dolls as you want, on the condition you never own that one grail.

 

I would give up my grail. As pretty as it is, it's too rare and too difficult and not worth of every I could have with money I could spend on other things.
Sounds sad, but my grail is replaceable. Not easily but it's possible.


If you had a damaged doll, would you rather leave it as it is (maybe tied the damage on their story somehow) or would do your best to hide/fix the damage?

 

Fix it! That's why I've bought several of my dolls ~they needed to be fixed! I hate seeing broken dollies

Would you rather: Have one iconic doll with a faceup that EVERYONE recognizes OR all of your dolls be equally as pretty, but not well known.

 

Equally as pretty, I think I would run out of fashion/photo ideas for just one doll versus my whole dollie group!

Would you rather: get slapped in the face everyday for a month, or drop your favorite doll into a toy drive.

 

I hope these slaps aren't too hard. Maybe I'll get some numbing cream...

Would you rather have your smallest doll grow to the size of your biggest, or have your biggest doll shrink to the size of your smallest?

 

I guess it would have to be my biggest shrink because my smallest (20cm) would look too weird if he were 70cm tall. My big guy would be really cute.

Would you rather have your doll have too big feet or too big hands?

 

I guess i would go for too big feet. The doll would probably stand better. It'd probably be a pain to find shoes though...
Would you rather have unlimited doll spending money but everything takes 5x longer to ship, or have 1-day shipping on everything but give up your favorite doll (and never get them again) ?

 

Oh this is easy, I have a lot of patience and don't mind waiting years for things to come along so unlimited doll spending money + 5x the shipping time it is!
I can't imagine not having Nadeko but even if it was only the sculpt that I had to give up that would mean my entire collection so double no.

Would you rather have perfectly scaled props/furniture or a closet full of custom outfits for your dolls?

 

Props and furniture. Dressing my dolls gets on my nerves so their wardrobe would hardly ever be touched.

Would you rather have one perfect outfit for your doll, but it’s permanently attached, or a bunch of removable outfits for that doll that are almost, but not quite perfect?

 

the one perfect outfit. i've been struggling to find clothes for one of my dolls and just having even one outfit for him would be perfect.

would you rather have the perfect eyes (colour, shape, etc), but they never quite sit right in the head/eye wells, or many eyes that look "close enough" but fit perfectly in the head?

 

I’m pretty much ok with close enough as long as the eyes sit right and look right once posed (?). If the eye was gorgeous but always looked off that would drive me nuts.

Would you rather be able to find all your dolls perfect outfits or perfect wigs?

 

Perfect wigs! I feel that a close enough outfit would look good enough but the wig can really make or break things! Although I don’t think I’ve been able to find an affordable version either of those!

Would you rather have a your holy grail doll but it has big damages or a new perfect doll from any company you chose?

 

Holy grail for sure!
Damage can always be covered up and/or repaired somehow.

Would you rather never have to do maintenance (face-ups/blushing never chip or fade, dolls always perfectly strung, eyes are never wonky) or never have to fix styling (hair/clothes always perfect when you put them on the doll)?

 

Definitely never have to do maintenance again. I have too many dolls that need to be restrung (both for ones too loose and too tight) but I hate restringing. Being sure my faceups would never chip would also be awesome!

Would you rather give away your favorite doll and never be able to rebuy it, or never be able to buy another doll ever again?

 

Never be able to buy another doll again. I can't let go of my favourite, and I'm kinda enforcing the no-buying-more-dolls rule on myself already. (Although I'd like just one more doll, currently waiting for the preorder to open - once I buy that one I'm happy to enforce "no more dolls forever", I promise! Ahah hah... )

Would you rather have your doll be too bobbleheaded or too pinheaded?

 

Bobbled-headed all the way.
Giant heads are already the trend in this house so if they were really bobbled-headed it still wouldn't be that weird and we could totally live with it here.

Would you rather have all you dolls permanently on display or only be able to display them one at a time (regardless of size)?

 

Permanently on display, I like to see all of them.

Would you rather have no shoes on some of you dolls with a few expensive shoes on select dolls? OR Would you rather have cheap shoes on all of you dolls?

 

Cheap shoes on everybody. Then no one would have to be barefoot when its cold out.

Would you rather have one perfect outfit for your doll or several that are nice enough, but not quite right?

 

Several that are nice but not quite right, because right now most of my dolls are naked or have clothes I don't like, haha.

Would you rather have to give all your dolls the same eye color or all the same hair color?

 

All my dolls have white or light grey hair, so it seems like I already have a type there anyway. Whereas I have more fun changing up eyecolours. There's so many pretty options!

Would you rather have a big doll room with lots of props and furniture, but not be able to take your doll outside or get lots of opportunities for cool outdoor photoshoots and meetups but have very limited display options at your place?

 

Gimme that big room with all the props! I do "studio-like" photography with strobe lighting and i'd rather have that over daylight anyday!

Would you rather have the the correctly fitting saddle stand(s) for your dolls or keep them in glass containers that are airtight and do not open?

 

Well, saddle stands for sure. I like to play with my dolls everyday so i’ve gotta have easy access

Would you rather sell your favorite doll to keep the rest of your collection, or keep only one doll of your choice (no buying more in the future!)?

 

This question hits hard because I don't think I can even decide who is my favorite but even so I think I would sell my favorite one if that's what it takes to keep the others. Having just one doll would be so sad.

Would you rather have a tan skinned doll (any degree from light tan to ebony black) or a fantasy color skinned doll (blue, green, red, etc.)?

 

While I think having a purple doll would be interesting I don't think I'd know what to do with it
so tan all the way! A tan with red/pink undertones (rather than orange) would be nice.

Would you rather have small doll events every month or one huge doll event (with several companies/dealers) once every 5 years?

 

One huge event every 5 years because monthly would just be too much for me.

Would you rather have double jointed knees or elbows? Can't have both!

 

Elbows. I'm far too likely to pose my dolls with their hands around their faces to give that up for seiza capabilities.

Would you rather none of your dolls had face ups, or your favorite doll had a bad face up?

 

My favorite doll does have a bad-ish faceup, because I made it.

Hot glue suedeing or real leather?

 

Honestly neither (silicone kips all the way) but if I had to choose one then hot glue it is.

If you could only dress your doll in one dealer/maker's clothes which would it be?

 

Gosh, I don't even know. I only have Barbie clothes, which are 1/6 scale, so I don't know if some dolls even fit those.

Would you rather pay full price for your grail doll (or other amazing doll you want) or wait until it goes on sale?

 

Knowing myself and my impatientness, I would get it immediately. No hard feelings if it goes on sale later, more $$$ for the maker is not a bad thing. Given that I, myself, have the funds tho...

Same color! The different styles are huge parts of their personalities.

Would you rather never buy limited run sculpts, or only buy limited run sculpts?

 

Never buy limited sculpts. Sometimes I see limited sculpts I like, but most of the dolls I've fallen in love with have just been regular standard issue gals!

Would you rather have unlimited dolls, but only one outfit to share between them, or just one doll, but with unlimited outfits?

 

One doll with unlimited outfits.
Gimme all the outfits! They're story fodder - imaging something like a Dr. Who-type character who has a closet full of unlimited outfits to blend in!

Would you rather have only one type of well-fitting shoes for your dolls, or a bunch of different kinds of shoes but none of them fit well?

 

As it is now, most shoes I have don't fit them perfectly and it's mostly alright. However, if I had to pick one option, a well-fitting pair per doll is what I'd choose.

You are allowed to only keep wigs or only keep eyes - would you rather have your collection be hairless or eyeless?

 

I can fake the presence of hair with clothing, hoods and hats. So I'll take the eyes over wigs.

Would you rather have a single-jointed doll who poses really well, or a double-jointed doll who can't hold a pose?

 

I've had both of those- I admittedly prefer single jointed who poses well, its more frustrating to me to have a doll that Should be able to pose really well but won't.

If you ended up with the body of a doll by some wizard magic or other, would you rather have a faceplate system or a headcap system?

 

Faceplate! Faceplate! Gimme all the faceplates!


You'll be painting your own faceup - would you rather have sculpted eyebrows or lashes already on the naked face?

 

With the caveat that I've never done a faceup before... definitely the lashes! I'm reasonably confident in my ability to draw symmetrical brows, but glueing on eyelashes seems horribly fiddly. Plus, what if I don't like the position of the sculpted eyebrows?

Would you rather own a 1/2 scale bjd, or a 1/12 scale one?

 

1/2 for sure. Would be huge, but so fun to work on. Plus I already have a 1/12 scale doll and while I love them, they are a massive pain in the arse to make anything for.

Would you rather have a collection where every doll has to have a fantasy part, more than elf ears, or every doll has to be 100% human?

 

I would rather have human dolls, not sure why but I don't want to be stuck with just fantasy dolls, as cool as they may look!

Would you rather only buy one really expensive outfit that suits your doll perfectly or several smallers clothing items that are much cheaper that don't fit your doll's image as well?
