I live in a pretty ugly neighborhood (in the Eastern panhandle of West Virginia) and my own yard suffers no small amount of neglect, due to my spending so much time in dolly pursuits. But I live in a "holler", across the road from one rise and halfway up another. The sun sets over the hill out front and the sky at that time of day is often quite pretty. It's my favorite time to shoot dolls outdoors, except the light can be really tricky, so that I end up with mostly profiles against the sunset.

After sunset, I am sometimes able to capture the moon coming out over the eastern part of my yard.

I don't mean to put down West Virginia; it's a beautiful state that lives up to its motto, Wild and Wonderful. I just happen to live in a not-so-wonderful part of it.

And looking out towards campus during twilight. My dorm is quite a bit off campus (a good 5 or 6 blocks) so you can't really see it but it's in that direction. I'm on the 7th floor btw.

 

Thanks so much for sharing our first look at this part of the Universe. I didn't know there were schools on Pluto! Which looks a lot like Earth, surprisingly.

 

I tend to agree on that one. ;D There's more trees on Pluto, and the weather is nicer than I bargained for originally, too!

 

lol. Just wait till it starts snowing for real. I got one outside too. Don't be decieved though, it may look sunny and nice but it was really 22 F outside (google told me) so I only got a couple on my way to the car (went x-mas tree shopping ^^). The bad thing about piercings during winter is they hurt if i'm out side too long.

 

We're getting a major snowstorm at the moment... welcome, dear winter !

I'm on the third floor and all windows are covered with snow... I don't want to imagine my car...

 

I'm lucky in that I work in the more scenic end of the industrial/office parks that sprawl over a good 2-3 mile-long stretch of what used to be woods and farms. Thanks to "buffer zone" requirements around newer buildings, there are many little bands of natural woods left:


As well as some patches of farmland (most has been sold off for commercial or attached-townhouse use):



AND the long, narrow field right next to my building's parking lot. There's been a sign up for a set of stores to be built there, but the signs been up for over 2 years now, and the field is still used to grow corn and then pumpkins. It's surrounded by high weeds later in the year:


But it's accessible and dandelion-city in the spring.


And often working as part of the very limited Saturday shift means I get the run of the areas when they're pretty much deserted, and no lunchtime power-walkers to gawk. What a wonderful thread! Really makes me want to go out with the gang and take pictures at more beautiful sites around my hometown ... we have plenty of those ... it just takes a lot of willpower to decided: Hey! Let's take my 3,5kg hunk out to the park xD

They got SEVEN!!! bars in their house including a swimming one ... xD And a wonderful front yard, which I could kick myself not taking pictures there >__<)

Oh I see! Well all the more reasons to come back, eh? ^^ So on top of the Rollmops I shall make sure to take more pictures of the snowy North ... once it's back that is oo we had a rush and now it all melted again U_U

 

The Cornwall pictures are lovely! Reminds me of a lot of favorite movies! (Including the scenery in the latest HP movie!)

Being on the South Shore of Long Island, the land's pretty flat. (Long Island was once the outwash moraine of a retreating glacier, if you must know --) But we have a lot of nice lakes. Some are manmade, like this pond w/artificial fountain and waterfall, by my Town Hall --


Others are natural, like Argyle Lake -- a favorite spot for wedding pictures, since there's a bilevel area with white balconies, as well as smaller "gardens" set up:

In a slightly different spirit, I've had my current house for exactly a year this week - having always been in city houses in the past, this is my first time having a large garden, so I thought I'd share a year's worth of it with you all:

Not really all that fabulous but I snagged a picture of Fenris (04 Elf El) looking out the window and caught a pretty good image of the victorian E-town historical building right across the street from us.


Shame I didnt wait... Its going to be decked out in lights for christmas here shortly. >_<

 

I live in Hungary in a little city. I prepared the pictures before our house.

 

You can see the bay near my place fairly well from this image of Rose...I tried to get as much of it behind her as I could when I took it.

 

Alegro and I recently visited the Biltmore house here in Asheville! They don't allow pictures inside and it was too cold to take a lot in the garden... So here it is. I live with the Biltmore literally right in my backyard. I could walk to the entrance from my house but the driveway is like fourteen miles long.

 

I wanted to get the Japanese cherry tree while it's blossoming, but it's only budding now :\

I live in Berlin, in aperipheral area of it. Ha ha you walk 30 minutes in the direction of my school and are on the field. xD
But this piece of street is the more urban one. My daily life.

But I like my hometown Berlin a lot.

I live in farm country, which is very conducive to photoshoots =). However, in that transition between winter and spring, it's a bit temperamental and sometimes ugly ><. But here's Kousku right beside my house.

I'm pretty much jealous of all you people who live in England, there's so much history there. I live in Saginaw MI, the only interesting thing here is the fact that we consistently make it on the country's most crime ridden city list. Here's a picture outside of the apartment complex I live in... for now. Pretty boring (and smelly). I wish I lived near some mountains or castles or mossy forests. *runs off crying*

 

I do not have a yard so no pictures from that.. and I do not have any landmarks near me so none of that either.. and it has been very wet around here lately so I cant go out and get some atm.. but I do have these window shots with My doll Zakia. I hope to take them to the park once it dries up a bit.

Heh, I'd actually scouted out a nice autumn photo spot yesterday while I was walking the dog - and then we had a massive wind/rain storm last night which took out most of the colourful leaves! Still, the dog needed his morning walk, so I brought Murad (EID Chase) along anyway.

This is the edge of the Niagara Escarpment, so when you're perched on the cliffs, you can see all the way down to both the Burlington and Hamilton Harbours (we're on Lake Ontario, about halfway between Toronto and Niagara Falls)

Aw, I love all the pictures. So many interesting places. I'm smack dab in the middle of Washington suburbia, and damn proud of it!



Tohru in a rainstorm last year, looking up the hill from the corner of my street (like, one house over). I guarantee the only thing different between then and now is that it's snowing instead of raining.

I love this area... there's pockets of trees and little interesting nooks and crannies. All the streets interconnect, so in the rain, or the last dregs of summer evenings, it feels like a maze hiding a secret if you can just find it.

 

I'm taking a lot of classes this semester, so right now my world consists mostly of college! So, here's my Arietta on the steps of the Math building!

 

There's supposed to be snow on New Year's eve in Sweden, but that's what it looked like this year - and it's still not much better.





This is Flogsta, where half of the students in Uppsala live and party. I know it sounds weird, but I like this place ^^

 

That was from my girlfriend's room, mine is in the same house and on the same floor, but on the other side. And now we have snow!

 

This was April or so of last year, but here's where I live in Utah, USA. I'm a Southern Californian originally, so Copernica and I were bemused by the idea of winter in April, and snow in general.
