World Where You Live (show me the scenery!)

Wo0T~ I finally have a few pics to put up.....kinda.....I took Reck out today *first time out of the house wooohoo* And we got wet in the rain!

 

this is the view from my bedroom window which is in the front of our house..... those cactus are where the cyotes live... and the wasps and foxes



btw this is nothing like the rest of la mesa (which is baisically 1940s-50 style so-cal suburbia that's trying to turn itself ritzy... my friends and I joke that la mesa's like a sitcom town)

I live in a small (9,000 people) county in eastern VA. We're surrounded by water (we actually have the most coastline of any county in VA!) and from my deck you can see Milford Haven, Gwynne's Island, and the Chesapeake Bay. I wouldn't trade this place for anything.​

We've had crazy weather for a few days and violent storms.. here comes another one! (It's raining and lightning now.)​

 

Isn't it amazing how BJDs can make the most ordinary places so much more interesting and beautiful? Some of you live in very interesting places, whether they're seasides, Japanese garden-spots, or coyote-filled scrublands!

Soah Nozomi-Cho has been with me longer than any of my other dolls, and gone to more places with me, from the painfully ordinary parking lot of the shop where I work during the week...



To my weekend workspace, which can sometimes be more . . . exotic . . .



Whose eggs are those, anyway? And does she want a cookie??



Sometimes, she helps to care for orphans . . .



And she brought her boyfriend, Kisho-Ryuu back to the place I work on weekends. He's perhaps a little bolder than she. Can you find Kisho-Ryuu in the Jurassic?



After which, they enjoyed a walk in the park together.



Kisho returned to the same park with 'Noli, who wanted to find some bunnies...



As it happened, they found no bunnies, but something very different, and far more foreboding . . .





Sometimes, the BJDs hang out in the front garden.



Sometimes, they spend time in more isolated places.

Just slapping this thread back up because I lurv it. Not really an amazing scenery shot, but this Firefighter memorial has seen the evolution of all my dolls. I try to take one at least once a month for pictures there, and to clean up the memorial, since the park keepers don't seem to clean it very well. It is public property, located in the largest city park in Carson City, Mills Park. Ezra's probably the most dramatic change I've photographed there. I love the grungy cement and the amphitheater layout.

We have lots of lovely parks around our area so here is the newest photos from out meet! And the lovely green that has taken over where it was all white!

 

My little girl in Terme di Traiano, an ancient Roman sauna building/termal residence from Civitavecchia, Rome, Italy. It's like, 50 kms or so away from the place where I'm living.
She loves playing in the outdoors, so she was extremely happy to go hide&seek with me in the ruins. ^3^
(And to think there still was a flowing hot water stream there until 40 years ago - then some stupid company decided to mess it up and the steam dried for ever.)

Just moved from Auburn to Duvall, and man is it soooo much better. We are right on the top of the hill and get the most gorgeous view of the Cascades.

That is Duvall down there.

Of course it is way more breath taking in person...The mountains kind of get washed out with my camera

I found my courage and took her up to the balcony on the roof of my house (it's semi-treacherous, dirty, and covered in spderwibs) while there was still light out because I had to go babysit about 1/2 hour after I took this and it would be dark by the time I got back



so that's the view from my roof. all of the houses are La mesa then WAY off in the distance (like around the horizon)......... that's Mexico

normally you can see mountains or something but the sky has been a little cloudy (or foggy? I have no clue)

 

During Memorial Day weekend, nightengale and I took our boys out & about and took some pictures. Enjoy!

Well, this isn't technically where I live, but it is where I lived for almost 16 years. This was taken at some old ruins at my parents' place. It's a bit rural there....

I finally have a pic to post here that shows, with a landmark, where I live!
For those of you who've never been there, this is the sinuous blue arc of the Coronado Bridge in San Diego, with Mathonwy posing for a picture and looking very anachronistic.

 

Well, these were taken by me, last summer, of my best friend's (UkeAco's) Weylin, Gemis. I still don't have my own doll, so he's been staying with me almost solid for the past few months, and he almost feels like he's mine . These pictures are all in Bidwell Park, the city park in the town where UkeAco lives and I work. I'm planning on my next day off to take him to one of the parks closer to where I live, and further off the valley floor. I'll try to get better scenery pictures, as these were intended to be looking at the doll, not the landscape. XD

And if anyone's curious, there's more info about Bidwell Park here. It's a lovely place.

Richmond, VA pics!
I'm always a little bummed that anyone else in the area posting here takes pictures at Maymont. Yes Maymont (park) is beautiful, but you really don't see the rest of Richmond in it. Currently I live in "the Fan" area of Richmond, we may go down to Shockoe Slip/Bottom sometime to get some other photos (and eat at Bottom's Up, upsidedown pizza).

But here are some pics from Monument Avenue, full mostly of Confederate statues. Really wish I could have taken a Richmond history art class, there's so much cool architecture and history here.

In the background of the last one is the Jefferson Davis monument... which is huge, and I got a very poor shot of because I walked right up to it before taking a picture. I'll have to get some better ones later.


It's a very intricate monument, lots of stuff carved into it. However, they've put a fence up for no apparent reason partway through semi-circle of the monument. So you can only get to the line of the D shape.

And as we were standing looking up at Mr.Davis, the Special Olympics torch came by with the whole police escort.





Hope you guys like it. If you're ever interested in touring Richmond for historical sake, don't be too scared. Richmond's old violent reputation has been fading with VCU and other groups working to improve the area. The buildings are beautiful to me, and last spring when I visited San Francisco (visiting a potential school) I actually got homesick for the old buildings and brick here, which is a rarity for me.
There's a lot of history here, though still don't suggest going out by yourself at night, it's not -that- friendly here.

I should be up in Charlottesville for most of the summer working on a documentary at a camp, so I should have some pics eventually of that town (my rent's home is there) and possibly my parents other house* on a lake over near Culpepper/Fredricksburg.

* Don't ask. The short is my sister and I are adults, and my parents decided to move twice in a year. It's so confusing.



And just an omake for kicks. Waiting around at the usual laundromat. Because I feel like I waste so much of my life there.

 

I finally have something to add! No exactly where I live, but close, about a hour and a half to two hour drive is the Builtmore House! We went there yesterday, and we brought the boys:

Finally I can contribute to this thread. Here's Lynn showing you the world where we live.


The empty beach just a 2 minute walk from our front door. Now empty since its October and the water is freezing.


The early 19th century manor house (our house has been built on the land formerly owned by the manor house)


Former fields of the manor house, now vegetable patches for the city people.


A reconstructed part of the old stone fence (part of it is in our backyard)


Behind Lynn is the manor house park (it begins in our backyard)


The building we live in behind Lynn, my friend's sons gave it the name 'colosseum' because of its shape.

 

Arizona is a great place to be into dollhobby ^^. It's dry and full of eccentric old retirees~.

Aww, this thread is really endearing. Here's Nell in front of an ex-goat pasture near my sewing workshop. The teddy bear in the background just lives there. He's like a scarecrow.

Nikos the PukiFaun went out with me on a hike near my house. I love March in San Diego. Ahhh, Springtime in the Chaparral. That grass is mayyyybe three weeks old, and dewy with the morning's rain. The air was full of the smell of wet red clay and black sage.





Here's an old pic taken this last Autumn (Oct/Nov here) of Pip the Puki sailing her airship in my neighborhood's park. In the background you can see the local houses and rooftops.

Can't resist adding to this as I love taking photos with dolls outside.







The first is Lucinda (Peak's Wood Goldie from Val Zeitler Bitten Collection) I found this wonderful stand of foxgloves in the public gardens near my house.
The second is Lauren (Elfdoll Hazy) at the beach.
The third is Lucinda again. I wanted to take a spooky pic last year, so I went down to the sea, just five minutes away. It was a foggy day, the sea was rough and there was masses of seaweed on the beach. I should perhaps add that I live in the far west of England, in Cornwall.

 

Some more with scenery. Lauren (Elfdoll Hazy) and Jack (Elfdoll Red) are taking a clifftop walk, and we are looking down towards Land's End, with the Minack (cliffside) Theatre in the distance just beyond the beach you can see.
