    4. I too am enjoying the places this thread keeps going to. St. Albans looks absolutely stunning (another live postcard/snowglobe locale!) and red-rocks Australia, as does smalltown Japan and the business-skyline of Singapore. You all remind me that it's time to go back outside & take some more photos of the dolls out in my own world soon.

D00d! Snow! :celebrate: Even cooler! Dolly snow pictures! Any kind of snow pics I get envy for, too. (We dun get snow here either. It's 60 degrees all the time. :P) Are you in the east or the west? I grew up in NJ, but went to school in Pittsburgh, and criscrossed the whole big state of PA in all seasons, and it looks like a seriously scenic postcard in all of 'em. Fall is best, but winter's a very close second. C'mon, Lancaster in the snow? Even Hallmark can't make a snowglobe that quaint!

Even Three Mile Island looks beautiful in the snow. That used to be the scenic highlight for me on that whole long train-ride! ^^ Used to perk up my attention somewhere around Harrisburg & start looking out the window for the big ol' cooling-towers and billows of steam. A dollie showing off Three Mile Island, now, that would win SERIOUS cookies. With sprinkles on top.

    5. I'm in Northeastern Pa. I'm so glad that we didn't get hit with snow. I live in a valley, but apparently they wound up getting a foot of snow on top of the mountain. And the one town near me get 17 inches of snow. X_X

I kind of want to take doll snow pictures now just so I can show everyone. ^_^

    7. While I grew up in the northern region of Virginia, I now live in Richmond. Here I've got some pics from directly outside of my apartment. Though I'd love to go down to the Shockoe Slip/Bottom area. All those big old buildings and highways crisscrossing overhead-that's my favorite place for gathering sounds for projects-but not an area I'll go to without someone watching behind me while I shoot. Richmond's not as bad as people make it out to be, but there are a few spots where it's always safer in a group.

Richmond is full of brick. Almost all the buildings are these nice old bricks, and most of the signs are painted directly on the brick. (I'll have to bring Aidara down to the Carytown area to get photos of those someday)

    8. Sooo...I've finally manged to get some photos for this thread. I've at last found time to take some fairly good pictures of my twins in a local cemetery. I live in Baltimore, MD and this cemetery is in walking distance of my house, so I figure that it counts. It's a great place, if a bit small compared to many other cemeteries here and has had a beautiful Gothic style church (now converted into a hall used for various functions, but it still has an amazing pipe organ in it) built on top of it. It is called Westminster Hall and Burying Grounds, and it's the final resting place of Edgar Allan Poe, his wife and mother-in-law, plus some war heroes and local figures of importance (mayors and such). I love the place, it's quite possibly my favourite place in the entire city, so I thought I'd share a few photos from the shoot today.

Spike and Sean sitting on the headstone on his original burial site. This is part of a family plot. The building visible in the background is part of the University of MD campus, since this burying ground has pretty much had the city built up around it and is now surrounded by UMD buildings, both the school itself and the hospital.

One of the tombs in the cemetery. There are a few of these in it, but this is one of my favourites, mostly because of the name. (The twins said that they always suspected that that guy was a vampire, but this proves it. XD), One of the others has some beautiful Egyptian themed decorations (lotuses and other things) on it.

The monument which marks the place where Edgar, Virginia and Maria were (re)buried. Probably the most recognisable monument in the cemetery. I regret not getting a shot of the entire thing this time, I'll have to take them back and get more photos of them with it. Those flowers and pennies you see are tributes left by visitors (the pennies relate to how the building of the monument was funded).

The boys visiting with the children. Those are graves of several of the children of a family called Brown, most of whom are buried there. They seem to have been a fairly unlucky family in the area of losing children at young ages. I like going to visit them when I go to the burying grounds, since it seems like not a whole lot of people do. The graves are tucked away in a space between two parts of the building and behind a couple of tombs.

One of the stones hidden in a sort-of out of the way place under some side stairs on the building. The stone is too degraded to read anything beyond an initial and the date, which appears to be from the early 1500s (1508, I think it is).

I was actually there twice in three days, as I went for a Halloween celebration and tour of the Burying Grounds on Friday. I am now kicking myself for having NOT taken the boys with me so I could get a few photos of them in the catacombs under the Hall, since those are kept locked up most of the year and are only accessible at Halloween and during the tours scheduled throughout the year. Ah, well...maybe next year.

We have some other great historical places I'd love to do shoots at if I could only make the time to do them. *grumbles about having to work for a living*
(Oh, and I do apologise if I've talked too bloody much about five photos, but I just can't help myself-I really do like the place that much!)

    10. Happy Halloween to us! We get dollies posing with Mr. Poe! <3 I personally feel old Edgar would've gotten a ghoulish kick out of those dolls. Huzzah. Those are wonderful shots, very in the spirit of the season.

    12. Thanks!^^ I've been meaning to take them to get some photos since I got them but only just got around to it, and I thought that it was appropriate for the time of year. I like to think he'd have gotten a kick out of them, too...maybe they'd have inspired a suitably creepy doll story? (I actually took them to his house after we left the cemetery, but didn't get any really good photos. I'd have loved to photograph them in his room, but the public isn't allowed in there anymore. Understandable, I guess, because the room is *tiny* and the stairs slightly dangerous.) Interesting note re: the monument: When you're standing at the monument on the side where Virginia's inscription is, look down at the floodlight embedded in the brick. Her bones are buried in the ground under the place that light is located.

@SailorLimaBean: Yeah, they were probably doing some maintenance/preservation work on the graves and the Hall. Some of the stones are in rather bad condition because of their age and there has been work going on to repair some of the damage.

I am really, really loving some of these photos! Some of you all have really gorgeous places around you. I was lucky enough to have such pretty views near my house. (I love all those pictures of mountains annd deserts and lots and lots of green!)

Some of the city. You can see the bridge in the background, it's a "famous" local landmark.

Last shot of the Capitol, there were a ton of news trucks lined up infront. I was expecting to see protesters, but I think they were all in the courthouse.

    46. The furthest I've ever gone for photos is Seattle (less then an hour north of me) so luckily all my pictures are around here.

This one was taken in my backyard during the summer. My mother used to race bicycles - so I think that's what the sign is about.

This is from Point Defiance Park - back around by the Pagoda there's an awesome Japanese pond that I only just discovered this summer (by discovered, I mean was told about).

    59. The free-thinking town of Arcata & its battleground McKinley statue have a colorful history. Some want the statue removed because it represents imperialism, others want it to stay because it's part of the town's history. An odd President to be such a battleground. But this was the town that refused the Patriot Act; they says what they thinks.

And BlueGhost, :whee:! Those pumpkins! That is the awesomest shot evar. The statue pic is amusing too of course, but waaa, what a ground fog. And what a perfect picture. One could almost expect the Great Pumpkin to arrive on a day like that.
