WITHdoll Mini Discussion Part 6

I actually really don't find any issue in finding clothes for my dolls. Etsy is a gold mine for Slim MSD clothes, but other places like Nine9 Style, TATA's paradise, Arcadia Dolls, Ringdoll, and Alice Collections do have clothes that fit Slim MSD dolls pretty well.

 

I have 3 boys in my cart .. so I came here to double check if I do want them... YES I DO hehe

I need few more days to decide coz my MNFs need these handsome boys in their group :P

 

MNFs and WithDolls are definitely a good combination!

I love the height differences between the two companies as well. I think it can look really cute.

 

I do love nine9 style though they're pretty pricey! The annoying thing with tata is most of their clothes are out of stock! I'll have to look into Arcadia and ringdoll, didn't know they were suitable!
I was surprised that a pair of shorts from alice were a snug fit on my slim msd!

after further researching different MSD boys.. I decided to go ahead and buy 3 WITHdoll boys now the waiting begins .. it's been a very long time since I last ordered directly from a company ^^"

 

They are pricey at Nine9 Style but the clothes are nice with nice details and are well made. Tata does do that, but they have some stuff on Etsy which tends to be in stock. So it could be good to check them out on there. Ringdoll do only have have a small selection, but they are suitable. With Arcadia dolls, they make them for you and they do have a drop down menu for a lot of the clothes, you would just click the Minifee/Unoa option.

The problem with Alice Collections is they are actually a dealer, so their clothes come from all kinds of sellers. They clothes can be hit and miss in both quality and how they fit. However I have bought some really nice things on there, and they are pretty cheaper. Although they do charge paypal fee's which is stupidly annoying.

No problem, and Slim MSD clothes are really easy to find these days. They're were pretty difficult when I first got into the hobby because there was less and about, and it was before Minifee's got stupidly popular. So you should be completely fine finding something.

About backgrounds, I have a local paper store near my house, and they sell this papers with different motives... they are softer and more manuvable than cardboard, but still rigid enough. Plus, they have a different print on each side, and cost less than a dollar. Maybe you can look for something like that?

Karla-chan -yea it seems they had problems fulfilling orders (some people were waiting almost a year!), it looked like they had reopened after catching up with the orders but I'm guessing they couldn't keep it going. :/

 

I see that is such a shame, they did make the items to order so I can see how they would get behind if they got more orders then they expected. There were so much more I wanted from them as well!

 

Musume Thanks so much! I really love her. Ruby's eyes are 12mm Glastic realistic eyes in teal green. Coco's got a great outfit and boots! You are very talented. I sew, but I never made boots! And such fancy ones, too. Great job.

what is the waiting time for a doll with a face up? (I ordered 3 so this might add to the waiting time)

I contacted Withdoll through the Q&A 3 days ago but no answer so far.. the waiting is giving me lost of ideas though which is good

 

Latefa, it's hard to say exactly; they are pretty much ready with the elf girls and I'd say Ash and werewolfs weren't as popular. So they wouldn't be as busy and it could be fast. It depends on the face-up artist too, as they outsource their face-ups.

Generally lighter skins are faster, maybe two months, while tans and grays take three or more. Yours were real skin, right? It shouldn't be too difficult, and weather is supposed to be better for casting during winter months, so that's a plus too. Face-ups seem to take 2-4 weeks. I'd guess casting won't be any longer for three than it would be for one doll, but face-ups might take longer?

Or I'm completely wrong and your boys will be home before Christmas. Or around spring. But my guess would be mid-February. ^^

Musume They are very nice eyes with lots of detail and the color is great. I think I might get her some other colors, too. I will share more of her when I get her clothes made, I have two outfits planned for her. The one I am working on is a fairy outfit and then one for her Elf hunting activities.

You're welcome. I enjoy sewing, too. Sadly I am just really slow. But I never tried shoes! I would think heels would be very hard to make, not that boots are easy, LOL. Wow, and you want to do fancy ones, too. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Goldie thanks! I know the feeling I have tons of dresses planned! I was thinking on doing a Snow-related dress, for this season, maybe with a train... it would be the first with train I have ever done!

The Eliza looks gorgeous too! Should have got her in Brown Tan UV from the start I think! Don't think I can afford her though, sadly.

They're right about well worth waiting for! My boys are incredible, and amazing posers.

Speaking of them though, I really wanted to share an updated shot of Carlos, my WD Kyle. he's finally finished and I could just die.

 

I don't have any Withdoll doll but I've eyeing the twins Nei and Mai...anyone has picture of any of them? I can't find pictures anywhere >_< I want to see how they look in owners' pictures before making a purchase. Also, I would like to see pictures of the tan and real skin types! I can't decide which one would look better. Help is greatly appreciated!

yumi~, The Withdoll group on flickr is a good source for owner photos. Unfortunately there aren't that many photos of Nei and Mai around, though. :S


One of the reasons why I haven't been very active online is that new Moros arrived from Souldoll last week, so I've been working on him~ I was able to take a quick photo of him and Apate today:


She's pleased now that her dearest brother is here again, haha. xD I adore their height difference - Apate no longer has to take her shoes off to be shorter than Moros!

Yes, unfortunately they're not making it anymore. It's really a shame, but apparently brown tones (and dark tones generally) are hard to make properly out of the urethane they're using. It's really a shame because I really want to buy a tan doll from them at some point, but I just really don't like french resin. I would even pay a lot extra to get tan in urethane, but I guess they don't want to charge their customers (and of course it's easier for them when they don't have as many tones available at the same time).

I was watching box opening on utube and was surprised how big the doll boxes are.. now am worried about my 3 boys getting shipped! I use a forwarding shipping service and I pay shipping twice .. I left them a Q&A inqery about this matter I do hope I can find a solution so I wont pay twice

 

Oh no!!!! Withdoll uses french resin for their dolls?! I didn't read anything on their page, do they use french resin for all skin types or just for the tan brown skin?

I'm so disappointed to read this, I just ordered Ner in real skin....the order is fully paid but if it is french resin I don't want it >_< can someone who knows Withdoll very well confirm this? please! it seems I had to research more before taking the plunge.

 

The UV marked resins are axson brand french resin with sunscreen. They won't yellow like French resin does but they have the same look and feel (which isn't quite as apparent in the dark colours). All the colours without the UV mention are regular urethane.

What a bummer! I've been waiting for a chance to get a urethane brown Juwel basic edition for quite some time I guess I'll have to decide on a different skin tone. I love the cream white, pink white, and normal so it'll be hard to pick which one ><

lemonlime I think that when they are having troubles with weather, they take that option. It seems to be a lot more difficult to make.

Yumi as Yenna said, the resins marked as UV are french. But I can tell you that it is not shiny nor translucent. I have a Donny in Brown Tan UV.

Mine is going to be a character from a anime I really like and keep my other Withdoll girl company since those two will be the only ones among my dolls who are based on existing characters from a anime or manga.

Also I thought I would share a picture of Casca. She's my first Withdoll girl and is Brown tan UV. Also not complete with make up and the right clothes yet. She is supposed to be a character from the manga Berserk. Fair warning everyone! Be careful if you search for pictures of this character if you're at work because unfortunately the Google search for this character will show a lot of the darker stuff in the story. JAS101 Casca is gorgeous, and I'm a fan of the Brown Tan (UV); it is such a perfect skin tone! She looks stunning, and Berserk was interesting, though I only saw a couple of episodes from the manga... the photos you shared look really interesting, too! Can't wait to see how you do the custom!

 

OMG Casca!! that sculpt is perfect for her! she looks awesome!! I'm very excited because Berserk is my favorite anime of ALL TIME and Casca is my favorite female anime character of all time as well!! can't wait to see her with face up, she's so beautiful and the tan skin color looks very rich.

 

Hi guys. I'm in love with Taren, so thought I'd take a look at him on the Withdoll site only to find that he's marked as sold out! Any idea if he's likely to come back ?

 

You should probably post on WD's Q&A board. The page probably just ran out of the stock they'd set for him and that's why he's sold out. So, if you message them, they should make him available again, as he is a basic sculpt.

Berserk is a really great story but you do feel very sorry for this character and all the bad things that happens to her.

It might take me a long time to complete her since right now I don't have any way to do her makeup at the moment. But eventually she will be completed

Thank you so much! I absolutely love Berserk and it's my favorite anime and manga. And Casca is amazing as a character. I got this idea a while back and when I found Withdoll Angela and saw she was available in tan I just had to make a Casca doll
