These rosy brown dolls are all so lovely! The almost-purple tone is gorgeous - I'm a little tempted to order one just to put him or her in this excessively purple outfit (which just didn't work for my dark brown Aiden):

Yeah it is hard to describe how it looks in person, it does have an almost purple tone to it, but it is dark also? The colour is unusual but it is amazing.

 

Hi guys, I have a request if it's ok >.<
I'm looking to get a Withdoll tiny, but not too many people have them yet - And I'm really interested in the Rosy brown colors. I've seen all the pictures WD has posted with color samples, but it's not quite the same as looking at a doll in an owner pic...so could anyone who owns the Rosy Brown please post a pic? Either in UV or non - I really can't decide which I want, and I'm a little nervous about the UV - I have never owned a french or environmental resin doll. If you have both that would be even more fantastic!

 

We have a rosy brown tag in our tumblr. Most are urethane but in photos by the colour itself, there isn't much of a difference. If you scroll through that, you'll see how the colour looks different in every light. Caracal has both (new being the UV) in one photo. Also, if you scroll through several of the latest pages in this thread, you'll see a lot of rosy brown dolls have been arriving and they've been posted. So, there really is a lot of existing photos of it out here already. But it's really quite impossible to show you how it is through pictures. You'll need to see it in person to really understand the colour. If you are at all doubtful that you don't like it (or the french resin), you might want to get another colour.

Thank you for the tumbler link! Unfortunately I have the same problem I've had here looking at photos, where it's unclear if what I'm looking at is Rosy Brown, or Rosy Brown UV (unless none of them are UV...). The only photos that are clearly tagged are the examples with hands or feet or other parts, and while helpful, it's not quite the same as looking at a full doll, or even a face. I only went through this discussion thread however (and the database which is still kinda small), maybe in earlier ones it's posted which resin the dolls are in...?

I love the Rosy Brown color, I would just like to see more examples of Rosy Brown vs Rosy Brown UV and I'm having trouble finding any that are UV, or if they are they don't say...hopefully that made more sense than my original post

Thank you, I've been there, but it's still pretty small and it doesn't look like anyone has one in the colors I'm looking at yet (or at least if they do there aren't any photos) - which is why I started looking here....not quite the same since the dolls are bigger, but better than nothing!

 

Like I said, there's not really any difference if you look at a single doll in a photo. It doesn't matter if it's UV or non-UV, it'll look pretty much the same if it's alone. I think most full dolls in the tumblr tag are non-UV, but if you go through this thread and look at the new rosy brown arrivals (almost everything that's arrived within a year), it'll be UV rosy brown, because they haven't sold the non-UV in a long time. Also, it's often unlikely for one person to have both types, because there's usually a preference for a resin type. I don't like french resin and thus do not own a single UV doll. Some people have it the other way around. People rarely have both from the same company.

So, yeah, the best comparisons between non-UV and UV are the ones of the parts only. For the full dolls, you'll be stuck looking at single dolls in photos and both UV and non-UV will look about the same, because they BOTH change according to light. There is no difference in that case. They're made to be the same colour in any case, so you should choose the tone according to the resin type you like: urethane or french. Yes, the UV runs darker but that's because of the qualities of the resin. The colour mix is essentially the same.

 

My Elf Hunter Emma arrived this morning~ I had such a busy day that I didn't have time to post about her until now... whew. x.x;; I did quickly take some photos when I opened the package in the morning, but it was dark when I started so the first half of them is not very good... I'll have to see if I have the energy to edit and re-size them and post them into the box opening gallery. It might take until tomorrow, I'm quite exhausted. xD;; I was out of town for a week and of course Withdoll shipped her while I was away (I was so surprised, I didn't expect a notice until November) and she arrived super quickly to Finland. xD;; Oh well... Luckily they delivered her to my door early this morning so I didn't have to wait until evening to see her.

I'm so happy with her, the Emma sculpt is beautiful~ And I love that her ears still show even though she wears long and curly wigs, yay! When I still had Angela, her ears were so small and short that they were covered by her wigs most of the time. >.<;; Emma is definitely a better match for Apate, I love her smirk. ^^ I have a day off tomorrow and hopefully the weather will be good so that I'll be able to paint her face up~

I love her face from this angle! She can't wear Fenrir's skull mask on her face, but it works great as a hair accessory, haha~ Apate collects bones so it suits her.

I also got a (human) Ruby head in White skin that I added later to the order. She'll be my cutie girl, Aimi, who wears kimonos and lolita dresses. So many face ups to paint and clothes to make, agh! xD And Aimi still needs a wig and eyes, I hadn't ordered anything yet because I didn't expect my order to ship just yet. @.@;; It was a pleasant surprise, though~

I ordered my first WithDoll girl - rosy brown Luna. I have thought of buying Luna since I first saw pictures of her, but I had hard time to decide wheater I'd like grey or rosy brown skin more. ^^ Now I just have to wait. (Can you tell how long average waiting times are on WD?)

Congrats on your order, my order took 15 weeks before I got the shipping notice but that was for the Elf Hunter Emma. A lot of people have told me they have waited about 3 months for their order, and this is especially likely with the rosybrown skin tone since they are harder to cast.

 

Congrats!! The wait can got from two months, to four. If you ordered clothes/wigs/faceups it can take longer because those are outsourced.

 

Ohhhh wow wow wow guys! Them ears!!! I am getting more and more excited! I cannot wait for my girl to arrive.
Got all them lovely shoes coming with her as well, so looking forward to playing around with all of it.

Thank you! Yup, Moros has also been ordered, but from Souldoll. I fell in love with Kyron at first sight, and he'll be taller than Apate now. Withdoll girls are as tall as boys with their high heels, but Soulkid NL boys are even taller! I always used to have problems photographing them together, I had to take Apate's shoes off every time, lol. Poor Aimi needs to wait a bit before I can introduce her, I must order her eyes and wig next week... but it will take a while before I get them, I'm sure. @.@;;

Well, I did manage to paint a face up for Apate today. I'm not a 100% happy with it, MSC was acting strange today probably due to humidity so I struggled with it a bit... but it's good enough to keep for now. Thankfully, because tomorrow another rainy period will start and probably last all of next week. -.-;; I won't be able to paint Aimi anytime soon. *sigh* Oh well, I suppose I'll focus on sewing in the mean time. But here's one quick photo that I took before it got too dark:


It's quite similar as the one she had as Angela, but this time I made the eyeliner on her lower lids more visible. Last time I tried painting the purple on top of the black, and of course it didn't show well at all, lol. xD;; I'm really happy with her~

Oh, and I posted her box opening photos into the gallery late last night.

 

I am so happy they made a Elf version too, since she is also perfect for my girl! I am really happy with mine too! I really like what you did with your girls fave-up it looks really unique. She is so beautiful.

I didn't knew Withdoll girls with heels were as tall as WD boys. Boys are 45cm, right? And the Souldoll guys are around 47cm if I remember correctly?

Thank you! :3 I wanted to do this kind of eyeliner already with Angela, but failed back then... but now I've had more practise with face ups so it turned out better this time, haha. xD

Yup, I will definitely be photographing the siblings together a lot~ Well, if I remember right, the booties that I used to have gave at least 3,8~4cm extra height for Apate, so she was around 45cm tall then. Not exactly as tall as Moros at about 46cm with his armour, but it was such a small difference that it didn't make me too happy. xD; I prefer having a bigger height difference for couples, so that's why she was always barefoot with him, like here. And in this photo she had these pumps, which don't have as high heel as the booties, but she's still too tall to my taste. And yeah, the Soulkid NL boys are about 47cm tall (I have a Narin head on that body at home, I just adore his height). :3 And I also got Kyron's boots, which will probably give Moros 1~2cm extra height. So Apate definitely won't be even close to being as tall as him anymore - even in heels, haha~ xD

Bee379, Thank you! I haven't painted French resin myself, but I have heard from my friends that it's a bit more difficult to paint than Korean/urethane resin. I have a sample of Gray (UV) and the surface does feel different from my urethane dolls, so I would think that pastels behave differently when applied on UV resin. Your experience also suggests that, so there must be some truth to it being more difficult.

Hopefully you'll be able to complete painting your Luna, I'm so curious to see how she will look! I'm a big fan of Will-o-Wisp and I'm sure that your Luna will be wonderful, too!


Musume, Yeah, both the updo and hair down look seem to suit her. I need to try more wigs on her~ About the heels, I remembered that we have this comparison photo of the girls' resin shoe parts on tumblr. Looking at that, it's easier to see the difference in the height of the heel. :3 I like that Withdoll has variety in the height of the heels and soles~

Coco's Halloween outfit is looking great! I love the spiderweb shawl and the sparkly boots~ They go well with the dress! Every girl should have a sexy black dress in their wardrobe, right?

Congratulations! Nana is very cute. /edit. They are slim, I'd say very slim. I'm not sure what fits them as I sew all my dolls' clothing, but normal MSD clothes are probably too wide and too short.

Yes, I was lucky to have a happy ending! Thanks for your support. The face up is very beautiful actually, but I asked for freckles as it's a main feature for the characted and she forgot to paint them... Maybe I'll try adding them myself later - after practising on another head first!! She also has purple eye shadow when I asked for a very natural, non-make up style face up and I don't know what to think about that, but it isn't very visible under her bangs, luckily. But I really fall in love with her more every time I look at her, so I'm not going to complain any more! I hope that we'll get some bright, sunny days soon - preferably when I don't have school until 5 pm - so I could photograph her together with "her" boys. I took some pictures of her alone today, but the light was lousy (even though I was outside, in the middle of day) so I'm not sure there'll be any good ones in there.

Musume, No problem! ^^ Coco has certainly got her wardrobe covered, then! She's a lucky girl to have so many dresses to choose from, I admire how you keep sewing for her and make matching accessories, too~ I'm so lazy that my girls have to fight for a chance for me to make something new for them, lol! x'D Funny how originally I planned to have only one 40cm range girl, but now all of a sudden I have five - and each of them have their own style so they can share only a few pieces of clothing (not to mention some of them also have different body types so they literally can't fit into each other's clothes). -.-;; And there are still more girls on my wishlist who have different styles, too... but on the other hand, I like having variety. :3 I'm sure my poor bank account would've preferred that I stick with my original plan to have one girl who is a chameleon and can work all those different styles, though, lol!


Supernova, Like Mista said, they're slim minis. They're similar in size to MNF girls, except the Withdoll large bust is bigger than MNF large bust. So you need to be careful with fitted tops, but stretchy/loose ones should fit no problem. Withdoll girls' hips are also a bit more narrow, but most bottoms should fit them ok. Yenna has listed some examples of clothing swaps in one of the older threads: here. She also has some useful comparisons with other slim minis in her flickr: here. But for example, if you search clothes on Etsy for MNF/Narae/Unoa, they should fit fine. There are also some clothes available on Etsy that are made specifically for Withdolls. I hope this helps!


Mista Isilme, It's a relief that you had a happy ending, indeed! Ah, I see about the face up now, that's a shame. But yeah, adding freckles should be possible. There is the possibility of painting the freckles with a splattering technique, or then add them carefully one by one. The latter is definitely more time-consuming, but that way you can have more control over the placement. I was actually thinking of painting some soft freckles for my Aimi (Ruby) because I haven't done it before. I've watched Yenna do it a couple of times and it looked like it could be fun to try. :3

Here's to hoping that the weather will get nicer soon! This time of the year is awful for receiving dolls because the days are getting so short and it's dark. @.@;; I also haven't had a chance to do a proper photoshoot with Apate yet because of all the rain and gloomyness. >A< I'll look forward to seeing photos of Lili with her boys, hehe~

But I'm sure that your next try will turn out better~ Halloween photos sound great! *___* I admire everyone's Halloween themed clothes and photos, they are so creative~ Halloween always creeps up on me, I never finish the clothes in time so I just give up, haha! xD Luckily I can always admire others' work instead~


In terms of my own girls, I just ordered Apate's "default" wig and one for Aimi as well~ I also planned to order a pair of eyes from Mako for Aimi but when I went to their website, it seems they have closed the sales temporarily because they're too back-logged. .__.;; What an awful timing... But well, since it can't be helped, I decided to finally order eyes from ED for Mi Cha, so then I will be able to give Mi Cha's Mako eyes to Aimi. I like Mi Cha's Mako eyes, but the iris is a tiny bit small to my tastes (because the Cathy head is bigger than the others and her eyes are also a bit bigger)... ED eyes have a slightly bigger iris than Mako eyes, so I'm hoping that they'll suit her better. ^^ Luckily both girls have brown eyes, so I'm able to solve the situation like this, ahah. Well, it will most likely take a month for the ED eyes to be made, but in the mean time Aimi can borrow Mi Cha's Mako eyes, then. She does have to borrow her body, too, poor girl. xD; Now I just need a sunny day so that I can paint Aimi's face up, and I can take photos of her once I get her wig~

Musume, Haha, yes, I have storage problems with fabrics, but not with doll clothes yet. xD I buy too many fabrics, really, because I don't have the time and energy to use all of them. @.@;; I suppose I inherited the fabric hoarding from my seamstress grandma, lol! Aww, well, where I live, there are some spots that are usually quite peaceful... but sometimes there are a lot of people (especially during the weekend) who stop to stare. >.<;; When I go out to photograph with Yenna and Aatos, it's easier to ignore the bystanders, though. Back when I used to live in the countryside, I had even more peace because even the nearest neighbour lived several kilometers away. :'D I never ran into other people in the forest, haha.

And yeah, this hobby is certainly unpredictable. xD There have been many times when I've had a solid plan, and then all of a sudden I notice that things won't work out the way I planned after all! Oh well, I love this hobby anyway, even if it sometimes makes me frustrated. Hmm, I'm not sure about what to do with Aimi yet. She and Mi Cha have a similar bodytype, although Aimi should be a little shorter... but I certainly don't want the current WD girl body for her. I'm waiting for them to release a new girl body (but it will probably take a while still, since they said that they'd start working on it after they complete the 60cm girl body, but it seems its release has been delayed more) and if I like the joints better, I will get that body for Aimi. Otherwise she'll have to keep sharing Mi Cha's body. xD; I'd definitely prefer if I could have a 41cm body for her because Mi Cha is 43cm tall on her Minisup body (and even taller with heels)... because Aimi's brother is the Narin/Soulkid NL hybrid at 47cm tall, so they'd have a super cute height difference then... like Apate and Moros will have, haha. xD But we'll see what happens.

I really love Gray skin because it's lovely to photograph. xD The reason why I have fantasy characters to begin with, is because that way I had an excuse to buy Gray skin dolls. :'D It wouldn't work for my human characters, haha.

I came on this thread to check things out because I'm becoming more and more interested in With doll... everyone has such amazing photos with beautiful sculpts! Does anyone have pics of their withdoll with other companies of similar size? (I'm think they are 41cm? and seem on the slim side, so any with minifee or other similar sizes..). I'd love to see

One of my WD girls is actually is part of a couple with one of my MNF girls. My WD is taller than all my MNF's the girl in the picture is on the cutie legs, so is actually the tallest of my MNF girls. There are both wearing shoes in this picture though, but even bare footed the WD girl is taller.



I actually only own Slim MSD girls. ^^;

She is actually a fair bit taller, but I really like that actually. Since I like my dolls to vary a bit, and in this case I also love couples to have a height difference and think it is really cute!

Karla-chan, I am in love with both of your girls! The face ups are just perfect! I love them! Die you do them all by yourself? And which eyes are both wearing? They look amazing.

 

Thanks so much, no I can't do face-ups myself. My WD girls is actually by WD, it was a custom one. I just got them to change the colour of the eyebrows for me on the Dark Knight Priscilla version to match her wig, and my MNF girl was a collaboration between Foolbot and Princessabiliss.

My WD girl Ophelia is wearing eyes from Mako Eyes, and Ico's (MNF Shushu) where just from Ebay.
