Wilde Imagination Amelia Thimble discussion part 1

Jul 6, 2011

    1. Has anyone heard if there will be a Halloween edition this year? Or is the fall sailor girl release the only new intro coming out?

    2. I guess not....lol !!!!!

    3. di4dolls, I haven't heard of any. It seems like their release schedule with Amelias is off somehow. Anyone else feel that's the case?

I really, really hope there are Halloween releases, but given that the sailor Amelia just came out, I am seriously doubting it.

    4. Thimblehouse you are likely right that the latest sailor set may be the only fall addition. I do still hope some more new items will come out, although the likelihood is thimblesized!! Amelia is such a cutie and I think very beautifully made. I've recently ordered from Fairyland and from Lati so it will be very interesting to see firsthand how they all compare in quality.

    5. Ooooh! Do post what you think of them in comparison to Amelia. I am seriously considering a LW Arin and a RP SoSo. I love my Amelias, so it's going to take a lot of research/persuasion for me to branch out. LOL

    6. I will for sure! A huge difference right off the bat is the unbelievable wait times for the order to arrive. For the RP delivery is likely January and for the Lati -- it could be spring 2015 !! If you are interested in cute little Arin I think the order window for basic white will open at the end of the period for the Steamland series -- October 4... so just another week from now.

    7. The Halloween Amelia / Hamish last year were event dolls for the Wilde Imagination con which had a Halloween theme. This year they are holding it on 3-5 October so a bit earlier and there's an "all holidays" theme - each of their doll lines has a different event with a different holiday theme and Amelia's is Valentines day - the event description says

Sunday Breakfast, 9-11am โ€“ SEW Sweet!
      Roses are red,
      Violets are blue.
      Join Amelia for breakfast!
      And Hamish, and Izzy, too.

Itโ€™s Valentineโ€™s Day โ€“ a day for sweetness and love. Cupid and his faithful assistants Amelia, Hamish and Izzy are taking aim straight at YOU, so get ready to fallโ€ฆ in love, that is! Weโ€™ll be presenting the Competition Awards over a romantic breakfast, and youโ€™ll swoon at a thoughtful favor left at your seat โ€“ by a Secret Admirer! Love is in the airโ€ฆ

There should be at least an Amelia and possibly a Hamish and an Izzy unveiled at the event and I'm sure they won't all sell out. I'd expect photos to hit the web by next Sunday night even if the doll isn't released online until later. So it's a Valentines theme for the next release

      (Full convention information is here)

    8. Tide N Thyme, Thanks so much for your update and the link. With the convention coming I wondered what we might see. Valentines theme sound very cool and could definitely be some 'must have' items they unveil. Will really look forward to it!!

    9. Thanks so much for this thread! I keep looking at all your lovely photos over and over. I badly want an Amelia, she was the doll that got me interested in BJD. Maybe oneday. For now Ill eep enjoying looking at all your lovelies.

    10. Hi youngatheart! These dolls are very nicely made, and made in America (I think) and are actually in stock, so they ship out right away! Unheard of with most of the other BJDs unless you are buying secondary market. I'll look forward to seeing the convention releases after next weekend to see if I will be adding a new Thimble to the group!

    11. This is exciting! Thanks for the info. I never even check the convention pages. I'll never be able to have both the time and the money to go to one. LOL

    12. Welcome, youngatheart! Amelia is the doll that started my tiny bjd obsession, too!

    13. Calphedoll, I like him much better as a girl!!! You've done a great job with the makeover!
I am looking forward to this weekend's convention for some new releases.....

    14. I just saw the facebook updates from the convention. I'm sure it would have been fun to be there and see these all first hand. For me I'm focused on several other BJDs so my budget is not going to include this new set -- which I think was $450 LE 50 for the whole set with the display stand. Cute though..

    15. Thank you di4dolls. The newest ones are cute, I love the little bob wigs.

    16. Yes I like the wigs too. The only thing is they use the same sculpt for every doll. So once you own one Amelia/Izzy they all look the same. They are nicely made though and I love the size and quality. i'm very happy with the ones I have and will keep watching with interest as they bring out new items..

    17. Calphedoll your Hamish looks adorable! I've been holding off on getting an Amelia because I'm not too fond of her lip shape, but Hamish's expression is much more my cup of tea. I never thought of making a girl Hamish!
Would you mind if I copied your idea?

    18. I can't seem to get to Amelia's measurements. Does anyone have a list like above.
Thanks so much. I have Amelia event with the bee outfit. She is so cute.

    19. I am also wondering what her eye size is. Thanks so much and Hamish makes a great girl!

    20. Hi! I am so glad you posted! We need to liven up this thread! I am actually surprised that Amelia's measurements have not been posted before. That really should have been done for everyone at the beginning. Anyway, I do sew, but I do not design clothes, so that being said, I did measure my Amelia to the best of my ability, and I feel that these measurements are pretty accurate.

      Height: 10.2 cm

      Head Circumference: 8.2 cm

      Shoulder Width: 2.5 cm

      Arm Length: 2.5 cm

      Chest/Bust: 4.5 cm

      Waist: 4.3 cm

      Hips: 5.0 cm

      Leg Length: 3.8 cm

      Foot Length: 1.4 cm

      Foot Width: 0.6 cm

Eye Size: 6 mm Round (Please note that Amelia has very deep eye sockets.)

      I hope these help!

    21. Oh thank you so much. This helps so much. Love your Amelia' little ugg boots. The chef hat is gorgeous. Here is my girl with a mini Blythe I got in Japan and maybe they can share clothes. Cheers![IMG]

    22. You are very welcome! Thank you for your sweet comments on my Amelia! Both of your girls are cuties! I have never tried the mini Blythe clothes on Amelia, but they do look very similar in size. I'll have to try that myself. The pink dress your mini Blythe is wearing is very pretty! I'm sure you darling Amelia has been eyeing it! ;)

    23. Hi Lisa, I never thought about that, yes she probably is eyeing it. Amelia will have a hard time since I think mini Blythe will stay in her box. I'll have to get some mini Blythe clothes to try on Amelia.

    24. Yes, that will definitely keep her from trying it on! I have a couple of mini Blythe outfits. I'll have to get them out and try them on Amelia. I'll try to do that very soon and let you know how they fit. :)

    25. That would be great. Thanks so much Lisa

    26. You are very welcome! I've been gone all day today, but I will try to get to that tomorrow. ;)

    27. Agarva, as promised, here is a pic of my Amelia wearing a Petite Blythe dress. It fits, but it is a little on the short side. It is also a little tight to fasten in the back, but it does fasten. Personally, I wouldn't go out and buy any Petite Blythe outfits for my Amelia, but being I already had this one, it is cute on her. Of course, the Petite Blythe shoes will not fit Amelia. The hat, shoes, and socks in the photo are made especially for Amelia, as I'm sure you know. I have a longer Petite Blythe dress/evening gown that I did not try on her, but I held it up to her, and it would come to around her middle to lower calf area--definitely way above her ankles. Anyway, at least this gives you an idea of the fit.

    28. Thanks so much Lisa. When you see them on the doll it is so much clearer. But I do say she is just too cute in that outfit. Looks gorgeous on Amelia. Thanks so much for this. I will go and check the measurements and do some comparison. Cheers!

    29. You are very welcome! The dress definitely fits her, and I am going to keep it for her since it is just an extra dress I have. I do think it looks cute on her, too. Amelia appears to have a longer torso than the Petite Blythe. That's what makes the dress shorter on her. The Petite Blythe looks taller than her, though, when you put them side by side, but it is mainly because the Petite Blythe has such a large head, as all Blythe dolls do. That's where she gets her height. Her body is a little tinier than Amelia's, though. If you don't have or can't find any Amelia clothes, then you may consider getting some Petite Blythe clothes for your Amelia. I would stay with the simple styles, though, like this dress. That way, they will most likely fit.

Here's a pic I took yesterday of my Amelia in her cute jammies:

    30. Great ideas Lisa, will do. Oh look at her in PJs, so cute. She is very spoilt, all those toys! Have you ever changed her eyes? Wondering what size eye she is. I better not she my Amelia these pics or she will get jealous lol. Loving the pics. Cheers

    31. Thank you so much! That is so sweet! Amelia is definitely one spoiled little girl, but she is so much fun to spoil! All of her toys came with WI Amelia outfits. She loves them!

I haven't changed this Amelia's eyes yet--they are her stock eyes--but I have changed one of my previous Amelia's eyes before. The sockets are very deep, and that makes it harder to do, but it can definitely be done. All Amelias take 6mm eyes, and they need to be round. I have only used acrylic eyes in Amelias, so I'm not sure how glass eyes would work. I would actually like to try that, but I don't have any that small on hand. I'm sure they would work just fine, too, though, as long as they are round.

Please post some more pics of your Amelia when you get a chance. I would love to see them! I wish more would join in on this thread again. Maybe they will after the New Year.
      ;)

    32. Lisa, I only have the one Amelia. Thought of getting Hamish or her friend but then brought the Petite Blythe home to keep her company. I do have a set of shoes for her but found wigs small enough hard to find. I really need to get a shoe box and make her a home lol. Most of my dolls are 16" or larger and I am new to BJD. Its too humid here to do face ups at the moment but have to dress my larger nude dolls first. Then I can focus on her. Is Sad Sally considered off topic? Do you like her?

    33. I have only one Amelia, too, but this one is my fourth Amelia. Yeah, I know I'm strange! LOL I would buy them, keep them a while, and then sell them. This last time, though, I really missed having an Amelia, so I got the Basically Amelia back in November. I had saved my Sweet Treats Amelia's wig and Alice outfit, though, so that's where she gets the wig. I really love and appreciate this Amelia so much! I have had a lot of fun collecting all the Amelia stuff for her. She is my favorite little dolly, so that's why she is so spoiled. I own mostly tinies, but I do have a lot of the larger Tonner and Wilde Imagination dolls, which I love, too. I have Sad Sally, and I love and recommend her as well. I'm not sure if she is off topic or not. I honestly don't know who to ask--one of the moderators, of course, but I am not sure which one. I'll try to find out. I understand about clothing your larger dolls first. I have a lot of dolls that need clothes and shoes, too, and that can get really expensive. As far as wigs go for Amelia, you can find lots of cute wigs on Monique's website or even on eBay. Let me know if you need any help finding things for your Amelia. I will be glad to help out! ;)

    34. Wow, thanks so much Lisa. I will checkout Monique wigs. I know she needs size 3. I hesitate buying clothes as I know I can sew them, but too many dollies and not enough time lol. I've had my eye on SS for a long time, but have restrained myself, due to yet another different size dolly, but she is on my Wishlist.

    35. Always glad to help! I am the same way about clothes. I can sew, but it's just finding the time, which I never seem to do. I have had Amelia's little winter dress cut out for some time, but I still have not gotten around to stitching it together. I need to do that soon--before spring is here! LOL So much to do! I hope you can get Sad Sally in the near future. She is a fun doll, too! :)

    36. Adorable! That is a lovely gown. I love the tiny flowers.

    37. Thank you very much! :)

    38. Oh my how gorgeous Lisa! Lilac is lovely on her! Amelia downunder got a house and horse for Xmas. [IMG]

    39. Thank you so much on my Amelia's gown!

Your Amelia's house and horse are so adorable! They fit her perfectly! Wonderful Christmas presents!
      :)

    40. I just wanted to say thanks for all the lovely photos on this thread! I have an Amelia on the way now thanks to all of your inspiration. I see no one has posted here for a while but all the info here has been very helpful for me!

    41. Congratulations on your new Amelia! Amelia is such an adorable little doll and definitely one of my very favorites. I'm sure you will love yours! I have been wanting to take some new pics of my Amelia. I am going to try and do that very soon! I hope you will post some homecoming pics of your new Amelia as well. I would love to see her! :daisy

    42. Your pic looks great! She's a cutie for sure! Congratulations on her arrival home! :dance

    43. Is this the end for Amelia :( I hope not!

    44. I sure hope not, but I have to admit that it does sound that way. I placed a phone order because the website shopping cart kept messing up on me, but I forgot to ask. I think I will send an e-mail and ask them. I also made a comment on their Facebook page. Maybe WI will reply to everyone's comments. If I hear anything more specific, I will definitely let you all know--and please do the same. ;)

    45. I just got a reply from Michelle at WI, and they are indeed doing away with little Amelia. Such a sad day! :...( Michelle hopes that maybe there will be something special from time to time, like an event doll or something, but she cannot say for sure. I, too, am hoping that they will at least do that. But, I am also hoping that they will bring her back some time in the future with a new story and adventures. We can only hope! Maybe if everyone writes to them as I did, they will see that Amelia will be truly missed and will make new plans for her. At least in the mean time, we can keep her alive here on the thread. :thumbup

    46. Oh no!! I can't believe it.

Here is my little girl. She is such a sweetie and so fun to find props for.

And congrats to you, shelrie. Your little one is precious.

    47. Yes, it is very gloomy news indeed. I wonder why they decided to cut her line? She seemed to have a lot of followers. :pout:

Your little Amelia is darling! That is just the cutest outfit she is wearing! :love

My little Amelia was very sad to hear about the discontinuation of the Amelia line, so she decided to take Rags for a walk to cheer herself up. On the other hand, she cheered up quite a bit after I told her that she would soon be getting two new outfits, plus a new cousin and a friend. My Amelia is a clothes hog and just loves getting new outfits.

    48. Thanks so much Brightberry! Both you and Lisa have adorable girls...I love their outfits!! I am looking for hints on where to find the cutest clothes and wigs for Amelia...do pukipuki clothes fit? Or any other doll? I wish I could sew, but I haven't got the skills or patience for sewing big people clothes, let alone anything so eensy.

I'm so sad to hear the news from WI, especially since I've only just discovered Amelia. I do hope they will consider at least releasing special dolls and/or accessories for events etc!

    49. Thank you, shelrie! My Amelia wears mostly WI clothes, but you can also find cute handmade Amelia clothes on eBay and Etsy. Just search under "Amelia Thimble". I have a RealPuki, but I have never tried her clothes on Amelia due to the size difference. Amelia is a little taller and much thinner all over. I think the RP clothes would be a hit or miss. There are some other little dolls whose clothes fit sometimes, such as Petite Blythe, but, again, it is a hit or miss situation. To be on the safe side, I would recommend buying clothes specifically made for Amelia. Have fun shopping! :daisy

    50. Here she is wearing a longer wig. I think I like it better than the curly pigtails!

    51. I like the longer wig better, too. She looks very pretty! I see you found her some more clothes. I have this outfit, too. I can't recall which little doll it came off, though. I had bought several of them a long time ago at Cracker Barrel of all places. LOL They do fit perfectly! :daisy

    52. Thanks! She's keeping the long hair, at least for now :) I love Cracker Barrel!! You can shop, eat way too much, then shop some more LOL! I think that outfit came from a Ty doll that was about Kelly sized - I got two different styles a while ago but they were too big for my petite blythes. Glad I saved them!

    53. That's right--Ty doll! I was going to mention them the other day when you were asking about clothes, but I just could not recall who they were. LOL Yes, Cracker Barrel is awesome! I love their food and all of the great items that they sell. We always love going there when we get chance. I know what you mean about saving clothes and other dolly items. You never know when things will come in handy for a new dolly. Both wigs look cute on her. Plus, they are very similar in color, so it just looks like she put her hair up in pigtails whenever you want to switch, which I like--not an obvious change in color or anything. :daisy

    54. I love how different they look from one another. shelrie I adore that longer wig. She is so pretty in it. And Lisa, I love your little girl in peach! She looks so sweet and delicate.

    55. I really appreciate that! Thank you! :daisy

    56. Ah... she is so cute... where did you get her? I didn't knew of this Amelia doll's existence XD

She is tall as puki puki? Can you make a comparsion between she and a puki puki (nude comparison?)
Do you think lati white is more short than this Amelia doll?

      Thank you for the infos!

    57. [IMG]Comparison PukiPuki puki, Amelia Thimble and LatiWhite
Hopefully that picture came through. I'm trying to do this on my phone[emoji5]
She is shorter and skinnier than PukiPuki and taller than LatiWhite
