Wilde Imagination Amelia Thimble discussion part 1

Jul 6, 2011

    1. Glad to see you post this Wilkies! I assumed she would be off topic so I didn't even mention her. I would love it if she were OT.

I received my Amelia a few weeks ago and love her! Wilde Imagination had the set for $210 which was the gift set that they offered to convention attendees of the Tonner Convention in May. DD and I already have her whole room figured out. Now we need to just make it, lol. Amelia's back history is that she is a doll that lives in a seamstresses room. Similiar to the cahracters in the Borrowers' books. She poses super well, too.

Here are some pictures I took of her with my other BJDs:

    2. I'm glad you started a thread for Amelia, wilkies! I don't know why she wouldn't be considered on-topic. She's a resin bjd made in Asia, has everything that fits the on-topic description and there are plenty of other on-topic tinies with similar looks. Here's hoping she can stay!

    3. Yeah!! Thank you mods for letting her be on topic! She has become my favorite BJD now and I just love her. DD will be back next week from her month-long trip and we are going to start on Amelia's room. I remember having a book growing up which showed how to make button furniture, etc. so we are going to create a sewing themed area for her. Right now she is living in one of our sewing boxes.

Amelia and her dog and some accessories will be available through WI in August. The gift sets were exclusive to the convention and won't be available again. According to Michelle (who has always been super nice to deal with) at WI, there will be a basic Amelia, her dog, the bed set and a few pieces of clothing. More will be added for her though. DD and I have been dealing with WI since it first came into being years ago and consisted of basically Deborah DeForte. We have always had excellent service and their products are made well. Another great thing with WI is that they come out with coupons quite frequently so you can get a pretty good deal.

    4. just because she is so cute, here she is with her baby sister from elfinhugs....she is just not sure who her mother is.............she is not having a mother but she is the favorite doll from my limhwa to you sara.........but that girl won't be home for a long time, so in the meantime she can talk and play with my other dolls

    5. Can someone who owns Amelia please measure her head and tell me what size wig she wears? Thanks in advance!

    6. I think she wears a size 3 because the pukipuki wig size 4 is to big, she can wear it if you glue it...my elfdoll wig from kai does fit her, so I guess she can wear the dollmore banji wigs, they have nice ones.

    7. Hi Nikopiko. you can purchase Amelia through Wilde Imagination website. I was just at the Tonner luncheon in Kingston, NY where he featured all her little furniture and outfits - and what's new coming up for fall. SUPER Cute! She's available now, unless she's sold out, which I don't think she is. - but you might want to wait to see what's new for fall - if you can stand it. Probably won't be till around end of September. You can always write to Wilde Imagination and ask - Michelle responds to all emails and is very very nice and helpful. The Wilde Imagination site is total eye candy, whether it's Ellowyne, Evangeline or Amelia. Get ready for some new offerings from him too - Steam Punk stuff - gonna be very cool. haha - sorry to be so long winded - I just love their dolls and designs.

    8. She is darling! Thank you for sharing:) I am still trying to decide on my first BJD and am looking at all the tiny models that work well with 1/12 scale. She would be more of a child, but may be my new fav! I only want the tiniest BJDs:)
She almost looks like she could wear Kelly Doll or RealPuki clothing? Perhaps Mini Pullip/ mini Blythe/ mini Bratz? I saw some pics of her in LPS Blythe clothing that fit well, not sure if that is the same as mini Blythe. If anyone has any of these to try, I would love to see some pics.
Your friend's pictures of her in the Tardis made me CRACK up! Too perfect! I just might have to show my husband.
I was also pleased to see she is compatible with some Sylvanian Families items as I collect them. I was thinking- if she fits in well with Lundby sized houses...Sylvanian Families/ Calico Critters homes and furniture would probably work well. They are about 1/14th-1/16th scale.

Clothes-I have been scouring for photos... and did find these:
In Littlest Pet Shop Blythe clothing:
      http://charmed-dolls.livejournal.com/163911.html
In Heidi Ott child clothing- a bit large
      http://www.flickr.com/photos/48784812@N07/5794274494/
If anyone has more I would love to see them.
I love the clothes she comes with, I hope the fall release has some of those and lots more; I am very impressed by the clothing line they have out for their other dolls-high hopes!:)

    9. Hi Rose - I am thinking I remember seeing a new package of clothing for Amelia coming out this fall - not positive - there were quite a few items that were shown at the Tonner luncheon - I know she has furniture - little items based on buttons and thimbles. There may be some new of that coming too.

    10. Rose, thank you for the links!

The Kelly sandals fit, but are slightly large on Amelia. I have a few pieces of Kelly and mini-Bratz and they are too large as well. Amelia is slightly taller and thinner than RealPuki so their clothing might be too short on Amelia. Dresses would probably work as long as they aren't too short.

I don't think you want to go with the Heidi Ott clothes either. They are superbly made, but they are too large. You can sort of see that in the second link. I use Heidi Ott child clothing for my Tinybear Moona and she is slightly larger than my Elfdoll tinies which are larger than Amelia.

Michele told me back in June that they have quite a few things coming out for Amelia. Of course she said August and August is almost over. I've had issues over the years with WI clothing, but Debra has always been wonderful in swapping something out whenever there has been a problem. I do think the clothing sometimes is a little too expensive for what you get, but obviously it isn't a problem since we had practically all the clothing for Ellowyne since the first doll came out. If you sew, though, it would be super simple to create things for Amelia.

If you are looking for your first BJD and want one this small, I think Amelia would be perfect for you. Out of all my tinies, she poses the best. Very, very well made and absolutely adorable.

    11. Thanks! I customized an American Girl Mini Room Box into a special Halloween Room for my tinies. :)

      • x 1
    12. So some Puki Puki, Lati White, and Mini Pullip clothes are all too large? My what a tiny thing Amelia is! :) I looked at the Petite Blythe clothes in stores and just wasn't impressed...often I loved the hoodies, but they would be too large for Amelia's little head.
I ordered a Japanese pattern book so I can try my hand at some petite Blythe clothes and modify them. Sewing that small is going to be ... tough. Too bad- they have some darling costumes. Waiting is hard... I have decided to make Amelia my first BJD and am going a little crazy wanting more pictures lol.

    13. they changed the face-up, mine looks more like an innocent girl ......but then perhaps they will have more options? I mean if the make a blonde girl they will do a lighter face-up..........not sure, mine has a good default face-up, only the face-up from her cheeks is already getting of, but that is because I always hold the dolls cheeks while I change dress or wig etc...really should be more carefull, but then I just like to be able to play with them....

    14. Did you click on the main pic from the link I posted? It should open a slide show.
      http://208-75-84-179.static.cloud-i...button-wilde-imagination-s-new-amelia-thimble

She came!!! Squee!:) New pics on my new Flickr. At least what I could get harried by my two toddlers, more later. One of her eyes was crooked, which seems to be common? I was messing with her wig when her head popped open, so I went ahead and fixed it even though it scared me! It was actually really easy. But now I see that the other eye needs adjusting. I had to use a wood skewer as my fingers don't fit in her head lol! I am amazed by the poseability, but this is my first BJD.I think her right arm may be tight, it springs back instead of holding a position... I have no idea how to fix that yet. Would I have to restring the entire doll? *terror*
As for the faceup- I might consider glossing the lips at some point; the eyebrows and eyelashes are very delicate and sweet. The wig is a nice texture, and the clothes are well made even if a little hard to get on. I mostly struggled getting the little loops of thread over the bead buttons. Some of the outfits have no closures, but are pretty easy to get on. It looks like it will be easy to make her any number of hair ribbons, the design is very simple.
She discovered my knitting basket and a bunch of unfinished sewing projects she wants to help with! Is it normal to receive a set of needles with the doll? I got a 'gift set' which inluded Amelia, four outfits, rags with cushion and dog bowl, and a little needle set which I haven't seen anywhere else. Couldn't be happier:)

      She says hello

Somehow I double posted instead of editing? I will just add another pic:
The inner workings of her head, which is mostly full of eye putty. It stays in place, but comes off easily enough. I was surprised how easy it was to adjust the elastic tension in the neck. The wig is securely attached by two strong pieces of velcro and should be easy to change as well.

    15. I've been stalking the WI website too. It's the first page I go to when I get on the computer. I hope she arrives soon!

      Merci

I hope I'm not repeating an earlier post. Has the Hittyville Gazette website blog been mentioned? It is an ongoing blog about an imaginary place called Hittyville and the dolls and creatures who live there.

There are picture stories about Amelia Thimble arriving in Hittyville and interacting with friends there. She has adventures from the day she arrives in her introduction:
      http://hittyvillefriends.blogspot.com/2011/07/introducing-amelia-thimble.html

And there are lots of other adventures in the following months. Just look at the menu on the right side of the page. You'll find all her adventures. They always start with "Amelia Thimble..." They are in the months July, August and September.

It is fun to see how she looks in the different stories. You can probably tell I'm so excited to get her!

      Merci

    16. Thank you merci and acexkeikai:) I hope you are both able to get your Amelias super quick.

I'm looking forward to see what WI has to offer. My Amelia is wanting something new and getting frustrated because we haven't made anything for her yet.

In honor of her first major debut, here is my Amelia, wishing you all a Merry Shopping! Amelia was hopinng to head for the beach today, but it is raining hard so no beach for Amelia. Sorry for the not best pics. Dark here today and trying to figure out new software.

Next weekend is the first weekend of the Epcot Food & Wine Festival and I usually bring one of my tinies with me. This year Amelia is the guest of honor so she'll have pictures for you all next weekend. She is super excited to meet Mickey and the gang

    17. We got the email as well, and my Amelia is excited to hear more friends are on the way! My crazy week at a conference is over, so maybe I can snag more pictures soon:)

annieaday- go read the den of angels rules about the marketplace...I believe you have to have over 40 posts and have been a member for 28 days for marketplace access and are not allowed to inquire about buying or selling in the regular forum.

    18. I got the basic doll. Very happy. She was a fair price I thought compared to other tinies that are around. So size 4 wigs will work? I heard her eyes are teeny tiny (3mm) I may leave them alone lol. Now just the waiting. Congrats to those who ordered

    19. Congratulations to all the new Amelia owners! I hope she comes super quick for you all.

I measured my Amelia's head and got 3.75 inches. That is with her wig on. My Elfdoll tinies wear a size 3 and Amelia's head is a lot larger than theirs. I don't want to take her wig off yet to see. Maybe wilkies could be of more help. Her head isn't as large as my Pukis, though so size 4 might be too large.

I got the cost of the basic right on, but I was a little surprised by the cost of the clothing and accessories. WI owes me a dress, but I don't think they would give me the princess one, though, lol.

I have to see how the money tree is fairing. Lately it has been a little too dry so I might be waiting a while to get some things. Still, I hate to wait. In the beginning, you could wait for Ellowyne things, but in the last year or two, more people have gotten into her and stuff flyes out the door. I've missed two of the dolls I've really wanted because of it. Debra used to send out an email when stock was getting low, but she doesn't anymore.

For me, I adore the princess dress. I really like the set of three outfits. We're are going to pass on her dog again as well as the furniture. We already have ideas for her and I think what makes Amelia special is the ability to be so creative with her.

    20. I am interested in Amelia. What size eyes does she take? Is it really 3mm? My Banji takes 6mm and that is tiny.
      Thanks!

    21. Hurray! Amelia has friends on the way & I am excited to see what you all do with her. I have been too busy to get many pics, but will soon. I will definitely be getting some outfits and another Amelia some day.
I am a little bummed all of the clothes, wigs, and eyes are not available seperate from the doll & very glad I bought the gift set as I love the outfits and wig. The quality of the faceups seems to vary as well...some of the close ups do not look as good as my Amelia.
      ?s
I didn't see the little needle set my set came with either?(pictured below)
Did anyone else notice the raven haired 'cute as a button' version says it comes with green eyes, but brown are pictured??
How fast do you think these LE will sell out? I need to save up, I would be very sad to miss out on the clothes.

Wilkies' pic of Amelia in a PukiPuki wig isn't showing up anymore, but she said the pukipuki wig was too large.

As for questions about head size- it is def oversized for her body, but I like it even though I do not like large headed dolls. That pic is not distorted... Perhaps this pic will help:

Try perusing Flickr, there are lots of great comparison shots.
Does anyone know what this is, part of the convention release, it was included with my order...but I haven't seen reference to it ANYWHERE.

    22. well I measured her head and it is just a bit more then 3inch so wig size 3-4 should be alright? puki wig is to big, tiny blythe dresses fit and for shoes kelly shoes fit with socks, I have some tiny bratz things that fit(tops)don't have any jeans ...some smaller things puki size fit
here are a lot of tiny blythe things...if you type in petite blythe on etsy there are many nice things for her.
imajica your dreamhighstudio tiny girls can share :)oh on there is someone on flickr that has her girl in a red wig,(but she changed it because it was to big) you can all join the group :)http://www.flickr.com/groups/1725055@N23/

    23. I bought a TY Lil' ones outfit for Amelia, and it fits ok... The sleeves seem baggy & disappointingly the skirt is seamed to the shirt. I will try to post pics tomorrow. I heard 'Kelly' doll clothing is a bit too large. Petite Blythe Clothes, found in littlest pet shop seem to fit very well. I posted pictures a while back.
      Petite Blythe:

Why Kelly doll is a bit big:

    24. wow Kelly looks HUGE compaired to Amelia... darn... I've already made 2 crochet dresses... Ah well I'll readjust once she gets here. Rose414, I love the pictures you took andyeah those Petite Blythe dresses fit well!

I forgot to ask: does anyone got ressources for 3/4 wigs?
      Would Lati White clothing fit?

    25. Anyone try little petshop Blythe clothes?

    26. Hey Rose, Does the jacket from that set fit too?

    27. Hi Everyone! I have been collecting Ellowyne Wilde and Fairyland Littlefee BJDs. Now Wilde Imagination has won me again with Amelia. I could not resist - I had to order her. Thank you for the information about the clothing. I think the Petite Blythe Spider outfit is really cute on her. ToysRUs has several Petite Blythe's online whose outfits might work. Now .... where to get shoes??????? Any ideas?

    28. Hi Rose or anyone with doll furniture: would Amelia look strange sitting in a 1:12 dollhouse miniature chair. Would the proportions be all wrong?

      Merci

    29. Congrats to all the folks getting an Amelia! :cheer

Here's a pic I haven't posted here yet of Amelia wearing a Kelly doll top with a Ty doll's capris:

    30. TY Lil Ones looks cute we don't have them here....I love the rody:)

    31. Gasp! A miniature Rody!! That is awesome:)

Merci- Amelia looks like a child in 1:12, which could work bc she is childlike. Elfdolls are almost perfectly sized for 1:12... so see if you can find some comparison shots.

    32. FYI - I wrote to Wilde Imagination and asked them about Amelia's foot size. Michelle wrote:

"I just called Joe and he told me 5/8” for her little shoes…he said also that they had to have them made just for her, that sweet little scale and all!"

    33. Heidi Ott dollhouse dolls shoes fit. Amelia needs the child size, not teen or ladies, and there is usually someone on Ebay offering mary janes in a couple of different colors. The Littlest Pet Shop Blythe clothes fit pretty well, but are tight around the hips. Styles with a full skirt work the best.

    34. I posted some pictures on the first page of Amelia with my Elfdoll tinies. They are taller and thinner than Amelia. Amelia is more the size of Real Pukis. Elfdolls look like big sisters to Amelia.

I've got all the lil ty outfits. They were too short for my Elfdoll tinies and when I tried then for a RealPuki swap last Christmas, they didn't fit well so I'll have to try them on Amelia. At least someone will get to use them!

For shoes, Amelia can wear the little Kelly shoes, the same ones I use for my Elfdoll tinies, but they are quite large. Sandals work better, but they can slip off.

Julie I'm in Florida, too. Have you seen any at local Toys 'R Us? If so I'll have to check them out. Congrats on your Amelia!

cattwo Your Amelia looks so cute!

    35. Gracie Unfortunately I do not have a ToysRUs close to me. I ordered three petite blythe/littlest pet shops sets from the online site.

    36. O my, im so bad at working with non-metric measurements. I have a pair of shoes i thought might fit, but now i think they may be too small

Chraurelius, do you mean this set of childrens shoes?
      http://www.heidiott.co.uk/pairschildren-s-dolls-shoes-dollhouse-miniature.html
      or this set:
      http://www.heidiott.co.uk/pairs-childrenss-dolls-shoes-dollhouse-miniature.html

They are bot the childsize, but look quite different. Quite like the one with the different types.

    37. Hmmm- I think the 5 pair one is mislabeled... they look more adult and the description says
5 pairs of childrens dolls house dolls shoes to fit Heidi Ott teenagers.
Assorted colours and styles, including the shoe boxes.
High quality dolls house miniature from Heidi Ott, Switzerland

    38. Yeah, i think youre right. Cant find the 5 pair set on any other site either, to bad, they looked pretty cool.

    39. Hi everybody, Well, on the eve of my anniversary, with the next day devoted to putting up a fence ... I looked on ebay and thought I was hallucinating ... to make this short ... I bought my Amelia Thimble gift set for 310.00. I had looked at all the past auctions and I think the price was fair. (at this point in time)

I'm one happy camper. I told hubby I'd found a little gift.

Someplace in this thread there is mention of the Japanese doll books. Are there any recent "Doll foundation recipe books" with tiny Blythe. The eBay listings are kinda vague.

I'm going to start looking for tiny clothes in TRU and our last Kmart. Photos here are great! (((hugs)))

    40. annieaday: I'm really happy for you. Every now and then I check eBay for her and also check the completed listings. I saw a set had gone up and sold within 2 hours. I'm so glad you got it. Must have been your lucky day!

    41. Hi Merci, Thank you. I was so excited that I didn't even look at the time or the seller's feedback.

Only 2 hours! I was truly lucky. Someone here wrote that the gift sets should show up because the amelias are becoming available. It makes sense. I'm guessing there were 200 made, possibly 250/ 300.

I have 1" scale stuff plus a RGT Victorian Manor in the box. DH's winter project. lol!

I bought the kit when I first read the Doll People. (Our B&N has the large PB version for 7.99) exactly like the original, nice drawings. I LOVE that book. My grands say "i'll bet grammy wants that house!" yeah!

I hope you get the next set!!! (((hugs)))

    42. That second set is definitely an adult set....I have them for my Elfdoll tinys, and they fit them like a glove. They have 19mm feet. 5/8" would be about 16-17mm, which is relatively close to old style Lati White. Some of the smaller Kelly shoes should work okay, and Naripon shoes should fit her fine. I use the harder ballet flats for my LW. I know Juju's has one 17mm style.

    43. I'm so excited, I just ordered my Amelia Thimble! I ordered the basic Amelia and the 3 outfit set. I hope they really do ship tomorrow! I can't wait for them to start arriving home - it'll be great to see all the pictures!

Cattwo, that's an adorable picture! I love the outfit you put together for her!

    44. http://craftyline.blogspot.com/2011/08/petite-blythe-9-japanese-designers.html

This pattern is a PDF and has 9 different patterns for petite Blythe. I think it is very reasonably priced.

    45. Congrats Anieaday!

Could some one help me with the inches? Will these fit?

    46. Those are nice patterns although I do have to warn people, these were lifted from Doll magazines. Just be aware of that when you purchase. some are sold out some are still availlable but still it's cheaper than buying the entire mook that has just a couple of patterns

    47. Aahhh, thanks richila! That is an awesome price for all the patterns. Are we positively certain that petite Blythe will fit Amelia? I love the possibilities with the patterns.

Congrats annieday! I knew you could find one. When you think about it, it may have been $100 more than the original cost, but it is still a great deal considering how much the latest WI offerings are and it was still less than what some gift sets have gone for. Also, you could have spent a lot on the stuff on the website and still not been happy because you really wanted the giftset (yes, I have had a lot of years of justifing the cost of things to DH, lol.) I know you will love her and I look forward to seeing your pictures of her.

The only problem with the Japanese books is that the instructions are usually in Japanese. I think there might be ome translations on DoA. I have a few around here for the larger BJDs and the pictures are good enough that I can use them. If someone isn't experienced with sewing, though, they might not be able to figure them out.

    48. true I am used to reading patterns so I can figure them out and I got a webpage somewhere for commonly used terms in sewing magazine to help an english speaker.

    49. Thanks for the heads up acexkeikai. I hate when people try to make money off of others. If the patterns are still in books that are copyrighted, the website doesn't have the legal right to sell the patterns.

    50. Thank you everyone , Re Wilde Imagination shipping... I got a shipping notice this afternoon. My order went in 9-26. I am hoping my Thimble sisters arrive together. WI used UPS. The gift set is comiing USPS priority. I usually have to go to the PO and get them to dig in their bins. They seem to keep mail an extra over-night now. (((hugs)))

    51. About these patterns, they are petite blythe, not little petshop blythe and i dont think these two Blythes are identical.
