Shopping Where do you find dealers?

May 10, 2022

    1. Ive been reading through the forum, seeing the conversations about dealer vs company etc.
Where do you find dealers? Who has a good reputation?
I've just gotten back into the hobby after 3 years( covid did a number on my doll budget) and the one dealer i had bought from went out of business. I have one doll I really want to order and thought a dealer would be easier. So where do you go?

The doll I'm hunting for is the luts delf zuzu bichon. But I want her with no faceup if possible.

    2. There's a lot of dealers out there, but not all companies use them. So, the doll you want may not be possible to get through a dealer, depending on what it is. But I'll list a handful of the dealers I know:

      • Denver Doll
      • Alice's Collections
      • Legend Doll
      • New Clover Singing
      • Stacy's Pink Ocean
      • MyDollection
      • LulaDoll
      • BJDivas
And remember, if a doll you want isn't readily available (limited edition or discontinued), you can always look in the Marketplace here or post a WTB for it once you get MP access. Good luck!

    3. What doll are you interested in? It may or may not have a dealer.

You can find a list of dealers on the DoA wiki here. Most dealers mainly represent Chinese companies though.

For Korea companies, Luts actually acts as a middleman for quite a number of other Korea companies now.

    4. Adding a few more legit places I've ordered through:

The Junky Spot- they're still in business but only have in stock dolls available. They have Myou doll, Mystic Kids, and a few others. They pack dolls securely and ship out pretty quick.
Jane's Doll land- website at janesdolland dot com. New dealer. Has dolls in stock that ship out fast. Will also do orders for: True Love, Fairy Castle, Guard Love, Asleep Eidolon, Xaga Doll, and some off topic.
Dolk Station- Very Wide! variety of dollmakers represented, too many to list. Some are unavailable anywhere else. Shipping costs can be high. Responds to emails quickly. Since some of the people they work with are tiny artist studios and production times can be long.
Good luck with the search and welcome back to the BJD hobby!

    5. Some companies will have a page on their website that links to their dealers. For example, Souldoll has a current up-to-date list on their website. You can get to it by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking the "Dealers Links" link. Otherwise, there is the Wiki here like someone suggested or you can even go to the dealer's website and see who they represent. I will say, even with a dealer one should do research before deciding to do business. There are a few "authorized dealers" that are currently under scrutiny for various reasons. Some reasons may seem silly and you may wish to do business with them while others may make you question whether you feel safe giving your money to a dealership.

I see you are in Minnesota, so the US/Stateside dealers that I know of are Doll Peddlar (They have less BJD stuff from what I see, but they get wigs/eyes/etc and sometimes you can find old stock that is no longer available elsewhere), Fabric Friends and Dolls, Denver Doll Emporium, and BJDivas. I also personally like to order from Alice Collections as well, but they are not stateside so shipping can be questionable at times (I've never had any issues but I've heard of others who have) and I've heard of DolkUS, but I've also heard enough bad transaction stories about them that I am hesitant to order myself.

    6. @errinreynolds Makes good points. Do go checkout the Service Reviews sub-thread under the Reference tab for the company/dealer before you buy from them.

    7. Depending on the doll you want, ordering from the company could be easier/cheaper too!
I've ordered straight from companies, ordered through dealers, and bought in-stock from dealers. I've also bought second hand here!
I've had mostly great experiences for all of these methods of getting dolls!

    8. Do avoid DolkUS/Dolk Station if you can. There's a whole thread about problems people have had with them! They may be legit but their customer service seems to be either a hit or miss and when it misses, it seems to get quite bad...

I personally bought from them once and while my experience was mostly positive and their customer service replied to me quickly, it did get a little problematic when it came to shipping. I had to continuously chase them about my doll before they actually shipped it, even though they were the ones who told me that it was ready to ship in the first place... And this was way before the pandemic. (Just to clarify, I didn't chase them about it every day, but after whatever deadline they gave me.)

Their shipping problems (plus sudden and rather substantial additional shipping fees!) seem to have just become worse now that they have the pandemic to blame it on...

Aside from the previous dealer most of my dolls have been second hand. So i have such limited experience.
Awesome!!! Right now I've been using ebay to find wigs and just got a resin mold to make eyes. Excited to try that. But it would be nice tonhave another resource.

    10. Also for most dealers, even if the specific doll you want isn't on their site, if they sell other dolls from the company you're wanting to buy from, they will order it if you ask them to as long as it's available directly through the company.
For example Bjdivas ordered a doll for me from souldoll that wasn't listed on their own site but was still available on souldolls site :)

    11. For Luts, it's probably best to just order directly from them? They are one of the oldest companies around and very reputable. I've never had any problems ordering direct from them.

They currently don't seem to offer Zuzu Delf Bichon without faceup, but you can always ask on their Q and A board if you can buy one without faceup.
