"When my doll arrived, I..."

• Grab my camera and other things needed to take half way decent photos
• Grab my other dolls because they want to meet the new doll
• Grab my Hello Kitty exacto knife to cut open the box
• Take tons of photos of the shipping box, the inside of the shipping box, the doll box, etc. with my other dolls
• Remove all wrappings from the doll
• Go ohh and ahh
• Put in the eyes
• Present the official "new doll" dress, the dress specifically meant for new dolls to wear until I make something for them that fits them.
• Make introductions with the other dolls
• Have a tea party
• Make a post or two on my blogs
• Start hunting down a suitable wig and patterns for their new clothes.

 

Dressed her up and played with her! Got the camera out and took as many photos as possible. I also got down to business trying to make her clothes!

 

Well first of all i aperently have a "dolly Squee" acording to my fammily and house mates ^^; that is released upon sighting of the mail carear. I then rush outside full speed to cradle the box in my arms ^^
i then get everyone who is at home at the time to come into the living room so that they can help with the box opening ^^ (normally i'm to excited to manage to spot scizors or a box cutter and they must be found for me ^^ my fammily helps keep the animals away while i get my new dollie unwrapped and then we normally pass the new doll around since everyone is really excited and wants to see what they look like
after that i normally get them dressed and take a picture or two for face book ^-^ then off comes the head and out comes the MSC!
I like doing the face ups as soon as i can because they are so much fun! so the next few days i'm in face up mode ^-^ then once the doll has been resembled i hot glue sued and restring as needed ^-^ i also spend a lot of time fidling with them and learning how their joints work ^^
and if its a doll that dosnt have a review for it on youtube i like to go ahead and make one for other potentiol buyers who want more information on the sculpt ^-^
then i just spend time with the new doll normally carrying them around the house having them sit and watch movies with me ^^ oh oh and i have to figure out where "their spot" is on my dolly display ^^

 

What i did after the box opening of my new doll was: stare at her beauty, almost cry lol, test out the posing and see if she could stand, try on wig, eyes and clothes to see how they fit, then went straight to work on getting her completed by styling the wig, figuring out how to remove the head and then worked on her face-up and started taking lots of random pictures of her

 

when they arrived, one by one:

Tessa: I worked, and after that, all the house just stared, how I opened the box (4 flatmates).
Ayana: I got the box from the postman, and flatmates were the same like when Tessa arrived. They were more excited then me
Alicia: I was at Leeds, and the box waited me on the piano. When I tried to open the door, I've seen the box through the second door (frosted glass door), and I was more excited, then the previous two times. Just grabed the box, caddle it, and fly to the second floor, where is my room.
Macaron: One week before she arrived, I've got another pack from parcelforce, and I was soooo excited, because I tought, it's Ronie. But it was not her... When she finally arrived, I just stared her and her beautiful wings.
Nova: I knew, that she arrives that day, so I sit down in the living romm with a big mug of coffe in the early morning, and wait. After a while, a flatmate sit next to me, and we talked about something, when the postman ringed. She said, I flyght to the door.

 

When my (first) two boys arrived, I had a severe case of buyer's remorse. How could I possibly justify spending ~ $400 on dolls when there are so many people less fortunate than me? I put them away for over a year. When my dad suggested selling them, I decided to try my hand at restringing them and, to my pleasant surprise, I wound up falling in love with them. To make up for neglecting them, I gave them all new faceups, sewed them wardrobes, gave them names and took over a hundred photos of them. Now they have their own little personalities and everything. Now I wouldn't trade them for the world, not even my grail doll.

 

When my first boy got here, first thing I did was see if I could make him stand. Second thing was make him some pants!

 

When my doll first got here, I filmed a box opening video, and then did her faceup ^-^

 

I think the first thing I did was put her eyes in. It took me about 20 minutes to do since it was my first time :P Then I moved her joints all around to get a feel of how she moves and then I dressed her up and took a million pictures

 

Dress them, straighten their eyes if needed, put on their wig, pose them, take their picture, and verbally welcome them home. No joke on that last one; once I get them settled I always say "Welcome home, <insert name>!"

 

When my first SD arrived I cradled him for a while, then put him in my lap and took a pic of him just to see how big he looked. Then I put him back in his box... and now his head has a new owner. Couldn't bond with him in the end.

 

I try out poses with them to see how they pose best and learn what their joints are like. Once I learn how they are at moving/posing I try to get some clothes and wigs on them and form good personalities/back stories for them^^

 

When I receive a new doll, I always try to find it a name, and then I always go in my garden to take some pictures ^^

 

All the dolls that I've had I've bought second hand. So in the first days I clean them, give them a face up and a bodyblush, restring them and then play with them a bit. Then I usually sew them a couple of first clothes.

 

I always make clothing for my new dolls when I am waiting for them to arrive so when they are home I am redressing them the whole day. I take them everywhere with me in the house and take like 100dreds of photo's and stuff.

 

my doll arrived a bit before i had to leave for work. so when my doll arrived i quickly but carefully opened her, i was so excited i could not wait till i was back home.

and then try on her wig/eyes/outfit
and finaly took a picture

 

• Firstly, give myself some time to have a mild meltdown over how much more precious they are in person than on the internet, as always.
  Also: Try and fail to film the box opening as usual.
  
  
• Then, play with all of their joints one at a time, experiment with poses and standing, then cuddle for about twenty minutes, in another state of mild meltdown.
  
  
• Dress them in as many things as I have available in their size right away, changing and re-outfitting over and over.
  
  
• Verify, now that I know them better, if the name pre-picked matches well enough or if it should be changed. Same with character.
  
  
• Then gush about it on every internet outlet available, including flooding poor Instagram with photos, filling my Flickr, and redoing my website.

Next month I may have a photography setup in place, so who knows? It might be more involved for the next arrivals!

 

First, get myself a camera man, like my friend or my mom, to film me opening the box, as I always get distracted and started playing the new doll without turning off the camera lol.
After I take some quick initial pictures of him, I will then get all the clothes and eyes and wigs the new doll can fit in and start dressing him up. I really enjoy this part, as it is probably the last time I see him "plain." He will soon be sent off to a custom artist for faceup.

I Take pictures and try to dress them. Then i keep them with me (in my arms ect) for the rest of the day.

 

I dress them (in Hiraku's case I sewed for him) and then I cuddle them, pose them and snap pictures and take them with me when I run errands.

 

The first thing I usually do with them is get out my box of eyes and try all the different ones that fit. Then I pick out the ones I like the best and put them in. Next I'll find a wig for them. Then I'll play with them to see how they pose and what not. And I just look at them a lot and enjoy their beauty.

 

I usually shake a bit, and when I take them out I sniff them a bit. xD I like the smell of fresh resin. Then I take photos of them while blank!

 

When my girl arrived, I immediately made clothes for her (she's my first and only, so I didn't already have something on hand to dress her in!), took pictures, and kept her sitting near me/on my lap for the next few days!

 

After the unboxing, I generally keep them naked for a few days and carry them around, periodically bending joints and posing them at random intervals in the apartment. After that, I start playing Pretty Pretty Dress Up with them until I decide on an outift. At first, my husband gave me some worried looks, but now he just smiles because he knows I'm happy.

I was getting redy to go to work. The mail lady came to the door with this big long box I thought "wtf" she asked what it was I shrugged with confusion. When I opened it and saw what exactly I shrieked with delight. It was a surprise birthday gift from my friend in NY. I opened up the inner box from junkyspot and found tons of little gits and candies, salor moon socks, lord beerus poster, and a Japanese copy of the grudge (which the hubs makes me keep in the basement it creeps him out) I immediately called my friend crying I was so happy. I unpacked her gently and immediately took pics. Then I went to work sad I couldn't take her with me

 

It had been a couple of years since I got an officially new doll, but my Pado girl came and I realized that I always get the clothes out and ready and wig and everything that I have ready for the doll so that I can start really picturing them as themselves as quickly as possible. I always feel bad if I don't have anything waiting for them, like my poor little Pano, who has no clothes and doesn't fit anything I have...

 

I usually keep them close by for a few days while I get used to them in the house, then I'll figure out who they want to be friends with from my other dolls

 

When my dolls arrive, I usually try all my eyes and wigs on them, even if they already have their own stuff prepared. Then I dress them up, take the first photoshoot and lots of silly pictures (snapchat filters,...). I also carry them with me wherever I go in the house for a few days.

 

The first thing I did was work on his faceup, because I thought he looked so strangely blank, like an alien, and I wanted to do something about that lol And I had already purchased the tools weeks before he arrived, so I spent the next several hours working on it until I thought it looked right

 

I usually clean (it's my way of inspecting for damages) and re-string them first and then I try on wigs and eyes and give them temporary clothes until I get the ones that I ordered for them.

And of course there's the hours of admiration before I put them back in the box and wait for the weather to settle down a bit to give them a face-up.

 

First thing I do is make sure my hands are clean before I do any opening.
Then I put their wig and some clothing on if I have any, to make them feel more welcome and get to see what their clothing aesthetic will be.
I'll take pictures after that, since I don't want to take indecent photos.
Finally, I'll set them on a book shelf that's dedicated to dolls and albums.

 

I don't do box opening pics, but I do like to take pics while playing with my doll for the first time. After getting my little Tania dressed, I took some pics of her waking up from her long trip home. My Jessica and Eva wore some lingerie that I already had for some time before I got them. After getting my Olivia, I tried lots of different clothes on her and took plenty of pics of her wearing those clothes.

 

The first thing I do is to look at and play with them to get a feel for their boy and then I restring to get ro know them even better, i tend to just look and adore them for the longest while x) (they always surprise me on how good they're done)

 

After opening pics, I make them some quick dolly clothes! I normally wait to order clothes for them until they get here, and I know the feel of the sculpt; therefore, I do it so that they have something to cover up themselves in.

 

I take them out of the box and dote on them, cooing all like "LOOK AT YOUUUUUUUUU!!!!" For like 3hrs, then it's dress up time~ and wig try on! :3

 

When the doll arrives, I first try on all eyes and wigs I have to find out which of them fit best. And then I quickly sew something for her, if there is nothing suitable in my stocks.

When I've received my first doll I dressed her up and tried different eyes/wigs to find the ones that match the character. But first I was in awe and just admired her for like an hour - her face was just sooo beautiful!

 

Box opening pics then spamming everyone who'll listen with pics of my new baby! Plus I spend a lot of time with them, posing them and sitting them on my desk.

 

First I usually give them a face up, then eyes, then I order them clothes/wigs if I haven't already done so. Then I spend a lot of time playing with their joints and take pictures and cuddle them.

 

I squealed and showed her off to my mother and then dressed her up to take pictures before making her a new wig!

 

Right after I get a doll I just carry them around with me all day and start the faceup

 

I had to see if his magnetic boy bits fit and all but one did. Now I need to remove the magnet and adjust it. (Reminds me of Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid.)

 

I was leaving for school and only got to look at her for a few minutes I looked at her a bit when I got home, but she has stayed in her box since then because I want to put up blackout curtains. She'll be coming out of her box Sunday though- I have to sand her seam lines and wire her!

 

Have them sit around naked until it finally creeps my mom out enough to tell me to dress them

 

I'll give them face up (the blank ones) and make them clothes and take a bunch of photos of them. The one I'm waiting for is a full set though so I'll start hoarding fabric to make her more clothes XD

 

I unstrung her to put on small bust, restrung her with her arms switched, saw what I did and literally cried!
I was so nervous to even touch her much, so that was just too intense for a first experience!
I put some gold powder on her lower lip, photographed her and went to bed.
The next day I re-strung her correctly, photographed her at several angles, then wiped her terrible face-up.
I'm pretty private with my doll arrivals, I've only opened boxes in front of someone once, through for legitimacy/proof purposes, I always photograph my box openings. I think whatever feels right for each doll and you at the time is right.
If the doll gets a makeover, they can always get a new photo shoot and gallery post!
Some days, I feel like just archiving all my old doll photos and starting fresh but I think this year, I will just turn a fresh page on my doll hobby and do a doll photography project and post photos from that, quietly replacing my database photos with my improved photos as I take them, and posting more often in the gallery.

 

I just hugged the doll and couldn't believe that it was real. Before that day, I hadn't seen bjd irl and didn't order anything on the Internet, so I did not even believe that I would receive it.

 

Sometimes I'm so happy to finally have them I hug the box before I open it. Then I try to find them a wig, eyes, and and clothes. And then just handle them to see how they pose.

- cried as I carefully opened the box and immediately changed out her eyes to the pretty bright green they're supposed to be She was my first and only doll so it was really exciting and I didn't know how to handle her because it all felt so fragile lol

When my doll arrived I almost cried, as she was a gift from my friends for my birthday! For the first month of owning her I took her all around the house with me, even though she looked kinda creepy as a nude being with no hair or eyes.

 

I cry (tears of joy) and then have to remember to breathe.

Squealed with delight, and promptly showed her off to my Dad. Don't think he was as thrilled about it as I was. Lol.

 

Immediately took pictures! And tried to find something to cover her bald head with because her wig hadn't arrived yet lol

 

Squealed and then spent 10 minutes sawing through the million layers of protective plastic for shipping. Then squealed again and whipped out my camera!
