What's your hobby obsession?( apart from actual dolls)

Let me put it this way: I have more pairs of pants for a single doll than pairs of shoes for them all combined...

I also really, really love wigs, but mostly just to look at; all but one of my dolls has a pretty set style for now. And even then, Tuesday only has two different wigs. So many of the wigs I really like just don't suit my crew.

 

Faceups. Doing my own, looking at others, always finding ways to improve my own. I think that's my favorite part from the dolls themselves. I'll finish a faceup and already want to wipe it away to do a new one. At least I can resist for awhile

 

Fabric. I need more fabric! Every time I have a genius costume idea it turns out I do not have the right cloth for it. I have a gigantic stash of several small cuts of many many many kinds, textures and colors, and I'm always looking for MOAR.

Fabric is probably the #1 obsession, I have 3 giant tubs of it in my basement plus scattered pieces all over...

Second would be wigs. I have probably 5 or 6 wigs for each doll if not more! Eyes are running close behind that, but not just any eyes, they have to be expensive urethane eyes, so that probably makes them worse than the wigs in terms of cost to me.

 

Masterpiece eyes! That's the one thing I can't stop buying! ><

I just love high heels but I can't wear them so for me it is very important girl dolls come with heel feet

 

I really have a problem with continually buying fabric for my boy even though he doesn't need it.

 

Wigs. I have over 40, if you count the ones that are coming in. I don't even know.

 

I think fabric hunting, I have more fabrics in my room than I care to count and more than I get myself to sew But there's always some "that would make so pretty dress to X and that to Y"

Also starting to go to want to do face-ups, but don't have enough dolls and not good enough to do comissions And getting face-up of is ****ing pain in the ass (I have chemical allergy which make doing it even worse) so I'm not wiping up old ones away when they're perfectly fine

 

dressing them as ninjas... I have a weird liking for cheesy ninjas
(as my sig should suggest)

 

Accessories. I love finding them things they can "use" (I bought a laptop and 3DS for my MSD boy.) I also love buying re-ment stuff.

All of my boys seem to end up with animal ears of some kind.

Shoes, shoes and more shoes =_____= I have a big drawer full of dolly shoes, I have to have every kind (sport, formal) and color and when I thought that my boys had enough shoes I see more beautiful new shoes >__< this really has become a problem for me, but I just love to dress up my boys and get a nice pair of shoes that goes along with their outfit

This is why I'm afraid to get female dolls because I know I will go crazy buying girl shoes and stuff and right now I need to save money for other things.

 

Shoes and wigs. I need to stop or else all I'll have is well tressed, funky shoed nekkid dollies..

 

Plushies. I have a horrible collection going for my girl, but they make such wonderful props for her.

 

I buy so much fabric. T__T I can't seem to go through it all!

But I do love clothes in general. Some owners just buy one outfit and have their doll wear it for a long time, but I just can't keep her in the same thing! I love changing outfits!

 

WIGS! I have soooo many wigs, most of them blonde. XD

Kimonos too!

 

Planning. Down to the last detail... I make lists of incoming/future dolls with everything the need from the doll itself to the details of their first outfits. These are updated constantly. As are pages of all the little details of the characters.

 

I have another hobby: Movies. And whenever I see a costume I like, I try to recreate it as accurately as I can. It sometimes gets an obsession to find all the odds and ends - or to fiddle out a way to make them.

And, well, carrying bags. I am always on the hunt for "the ideal bag". So far I have...two of them? For two dolls...ah well.

 

Props and accessories for my tinies. Take me into a toy store and I'll spend hours looking for the perfect prop. I have more mini Lalaloopsies than the three year old I babysit! I can't help it, they make perfect dolls for my YoSd-sized dolls.

 

This SO much! I'm also big on the mini Lalaloopsies and I have a Sylvanian Families collection my nieces are jealous of. Other props for photoshoots as well, I'm obsessed with dolly-scale furniture. It doesn't help that my dolls range in size from 11 to 62 cm... And from the start I've been completely addicted to wigs. I have about three times more wigs than I do dolls. And I have a lot of dolls.... ;-)

 

Eyes, I think! I have a ginourmous amount of eyes, and quite a lot of them in sizes that my dolls don't use, and that I'll probably never have any dolls to use. I have the eyes on display in a case, hehe ^^;

 

I think, as of now, it's fabric and notions. I don't have a lot of things sewn, but I have a lot that can be sewn into something.

 

Glass eyes for me, definately. I feel like the eyes are one of if not the most important "accessory" for a doll. The right pair can really bring out a doll's beauty & character, so I love shopping for them.

 

Well, besides more fabric than any 10 people could sew, I look for furniture. I don't just have more chairs than dolls, I also have more dressers and beds and trunks.
Also must keep a weather eye out for mini props to complete the apartments that the dolls will have when the doll room is done. (There are some advantages to being an empty nester!)

 

Wigs.....
I am...a wig-a-holic.

 

I don't buy many pre-made items for my dolls, but I absolutely love making clothes for them. I already have a cloth bag filled with clothes for my 5 MSDs, and I have an SD girl on the way- here's to the adventure of making her clothes!

Wigs! I can't stop buying wigs - especially unnaturally coloured ones!

Thankfully I'm becoming tamer in the gothic clothing department...

 

Shoes! I don't buy too many shoes for myself but my biggest obsession is dolly shoes I also have a thing for wigs but I hate buying them. There are just too many decisions to make between material, style, cut, color etc. I am starting to just buy wigs I like when I can in whatever color so that I have some on hand to try with new dolls.

 

Maid costumes. My girl Corby has one too so we can match.

 

Shoes and resin props like masks, swords, shields, crowns, etc.

 

As for myself, I keep obsessing over glass eyes. I have more eyes than dolls, and many of them I have never even intended to use on dolls; I just think they look very beautiful and I want to collect them.
Same goes for kimonos.
I absolutely adore kimonos, and keep looking for beautiful, well-made and authentic-looking kimonos.
I almost like these two obsessions more than actual dolls. Almost.

 

fabric- i look at the stuff and doll clothes designs come outta my head. i just wish i could sew as good as the stuff i envision. and i have a few wigs too.

Shoes. I have two girls and two boys and a total of 12 pairs of shoes (4 for the boys and the rest for the ladies). BUT I have a ton of shoes on my wishlist as well.

Also, eyes. I always buy random packs of 10 pairs, not because I need any eyes, but because of the surprise.

 

Oh wow. Lets see. First would be face ups. I LOVE DOING FACE UPS!!!!!! I was so nervous at first but after I got that first one out of the way I can't seem to stop. Thank god for DollFamily practice heads or my finished dolls would be stripped. Does that count. I buy more heads just so I can do their faces. Which leads to bodies... you see how this hobby sucks me in??? I think finding new technique, new brushes, new materials to use...it's just fun. Then the act of doing the face up is very Zen to me. It's relaxing.

Eyes. I have 7 dolls and over 20 pair of eyes. Why?? I don't know. I love changing them out and seeing how they look. I think it ties into my face up thing I think. The eyes complete it for me. And I never know it's right until those eyes are in.

 

I'm obsessed with buying mine socks. Not just socks, bright, colorful, slightly obnoxious socks. XD

 

For a while it was wigs, and I ended up with a pile of wigs until recently, of all different styles and colors and NONE of them right for the doll I bought them for! I've finally decided enough is enough, and I've been trimming down the pile as much as I can.

I've actually been selling a lot of my stuff lately as I realize the things that just aren't right for my doll, and I'm refocusing my efforts on what really suits her!

Aaaaand from my wishlist for all my dolls, I realized that I'm kind of big on shoes XD . But not just any shoes, I'm really picky now and have a Shoe Plan all laid out. Clothes are a big one for me too now, I guess, but since they're clothes, I feel like, that's normal...? But I want nine pairs of (expensive!) shoes for my one girl, and another nine pairs for a boy I don't even own yet! And I think I enjoy high-quality shoes on a doll even more than clothes, for some reason.

Shoes. Definitely. I have always bought fabric so that doesn't count; & I'm not really obsessive about furniture or props - I have lists LOL
But shoes. I have bought cute little shoes when I KNOW I don't have a doll right now who can wear them (the idea - I'm going to get one LOL). I spend more on the dollies' shoes than my own! Just love the shoes

 

I tend to obsess over wigs and get upset if a wig isn't the right one. I like to try a lot and then choose a firm favourite and stick to it. I also adore little props. I've just ordered some from Dollmore, including a tiny chess set, and I'm so excited about it!

 

I obsess over shoes mainly, even if i don't have the outfit, i'll still buy shoes and boots

Craft things ... oh wait, I've always had a huge stash of them, and fabrics, too ...

Props and tiny things. I can't see anything doll-sized without wanting to buy it

 

Probably fabric for sewing purposes and I recently bought a sewing machine so I can keep sewing and go up in scale sewing wise without wrecking my fingers. I've also picked up crochet.

 

I can't get enough of wigs. I end up buy more than 10x the amount of heads I actually have, which is sad because I don't change the wigs very often.
I also really like buying outfits, but not as much as wigs. I just end up changing outfits when I get a new one and never changing back.
However, this is because I'm really just starting out in the hobby. I'm sure I'll be able to regulate myself when I have one of everything, lol!

 

It would have to be fabric, especially small print calico. Almost every time I go to the hobby store or the Wal-Mart that still carries fabric, I have to at least check out the remnants. If I don't avoid that section altogether, I'm sure to come out with a few remnants or at least half a yard of something. Other things I might obsess over really depends on the doll, such as shoes that will fit the one that has different sized feet than the rest, or the one that never looks good in any wig I get, etc.

 

SHOES! I LOVE SHOES!!

I rarely buy shoes for myself, but I can't resist buying shoes for my dolls!

I also like little accessories or props, like glasses, a laptop, headphones, handcuffs...stuff like that :P

 

oh man, i find that i cant stop buying them props!
I know they do need more clothes but i keep looking at rements and other stuff and saying "omg they'd have so much fun with this!"

Oh goodness ... Probably shoes and wigs for my boys. I havent even bought any yet, but I know Im obsessed with real shoes, so Im going to have too much fun buying miniature ones. I also like Hello Kitty way too much, so my boys are going to have to get used to HK clothes and accessories. *teehee*

I also really like getting her wigs.

and I'd like to get her more eyes and shoes and props eventually.

Right now it is fabric. I love sewing outfits for Sarah and it is becoming a bit of an obsession. Thankfully my local fabric store has a huge bin of left over cuts. They price them at how much they would normally cost then put them on sale for 50% off. It is pretty nice for Sarah and thankfully not too pricey for me. My fabric bin is just starting to overflow though.

I collect dolly headbands. > v >;; I like cute hair pieces. Which is funny because most of my dolls are dudes... Hehe.

 

Fabrics, laces ..lots of stuff I need to sew or craft. I've got so many and can't stop buying themX'D

 

Wigs. Since I found out that YOSD is my favourite size I buy lots and lots of wigs, especially limited wigs in all styles and colours. Because I know there will dolls be released that I will need one of these wigs some day so its good to already have it at home. I always take forever to get clothes for my dolls but when they arrive all bald and naked I want them at least to have hair asap

I have a miniature obsession... which was a preexisting condition to getting BJDs so now I just have a legitimate reason for buying and making tiny things.
