What's your hobby obsession?( apart from actual dolls)

Cloth for sewing doll clothes for modifying, Miniature things, Miniature stuffed animals, Face ups.... Gosh ABJD's have become one of my only hobbies besides making clothes and costumes for myself

 

Eyes and Wigs! I've got 23 pairs of eyes for 3 dolls and a long list of wants! I've got 22 wigs and I have culled quite a few from my collection with plans to cull more. I really only like certain wigs for each doll so there's no need to keep that many. They need shoes!

 

Fabric. I've hoarded it since the three years I lived in Japan. It just.. GROWS. >.<

Aside from that -- writing, drawing and my webcomics.

I buy lots of supplies (fabric, paint, etc), but what I'm really crazy about is footwear.

Clothes first and foremost. Most of my doll expenditure goes to clothes. Fabric would come in second. I give in SO easily to cute jersey prints and cotton lawns which are doll scale. I've clmaped down on this recently...but I still have boxes and boxes of untouched fabric. XD;;

I also used to be fixated on optional parts and miniature food from Y!JA...but I've collected most of the former by now, and I gave up on the latter as a bit too expensive.

 

Shoes--I love their little shoes : D

 

Eyes. Beyootiful, Prescious, Glass Eyes!

 

Ok this is either going to sound stupid or creepy, or a combination of the two.

Hands.

If I had the extra funds I would buy so many different hands for the boys I'd probably drive myself nuts. Hands are important because they are just as expressive as eyes. So, I want a drawer full of doll hands. (and sneakers, I love to be able to afford them more than one pair of shoes T__T )

My roommate is right, this hobby can be really weird sometimes!

 

My obsessions change from month to month. I'll go on a wig buying spree, then get a bunch of eyes, then I'll need hats, etc. I just bought a bunch of sunglasses & recently came off a purse obsession.

The two consistant things are shoes & fabrics. There's just something about perfect little shoes. I've always loved doll shoes & have huge collections of them for each type of doll I have. My gang are fashionistas & have to have coordinating shoes for every outfit which isn't as easy as it sounds since, other that sneakers, most BJD shoes seem to come in black, white, pink or red. So every time I see another color I have to buy them. I've even managed to get yellow boots & metallic burgundy ones. Still looking for some nice blue shoes though. And some gold ones too.

And fabric...what can I say about fabric? If I started sewing right now & never stopped, I doubt if I'd run out of it till I died. I've come to the realization that my fabric is a collection in & of itself. It doesn't matter if I ever use it, I just have to have it. And it has to be the good stuff, silks, embroidered linens, patterned velveteens, Japanese cottons, antique lace & even some high end synthetics. I figure my dolls deserve the very best.

Shoes. Not boots, not dress shoes... those awesome converse hi tops, and the vans and and. Yes. Hayden has seven pairs of converse shoes. Vin has none (he wouldn't be caught dead in trainers) and my new boy has a pair or five coming. Cheap and adorable. Yay!

Oh, and eyes. Expensive eyes.

 

Since Im still pretty new to this, I just love buying it all!

But, right now Im really into buying wigs. Wigs, wigs, wigs!!! I can't get enough wigs! Its just so amazing how you can absolutely change the way a doll looks by changing the wig. I actually had trouble bonding with a doll until I changed his default wig. The right wig can make all the difference.

Oh, and I love buying shoes. Those little shoes are soooo cute!

Currently I've been obsessing over eyes. Before that I used to be obsessed with fake fur for wigs (well, actually I still am...).

 

Other dolls I don't look at my dolls and think "Katsuyo needs a new dress" I look at her and think "Katsuyo needs a boy!"

 

Wigs. I have more wigs than I have bjd's. Which is really, really bad because each wig was at least 10 bucks each. I could put that together and be on my way to buying shoes! And pants. Yeah, he has no pants.

I need to resell the wigs. The one wig that I was sure was not going to look good on anyone hasn't left my Wu's head since I first slapped it on him. The one that I got specfiically for him looked hideous. Elfdoll male resins just don't look good in black in my opinion. XD

I'm now looking at clothes for Wu. Clothes that are in his style, and it's so hard! >_< I've been obsessed with finding just the perfect style of clothes and shoes since even before I ordered him.

Shirts and wigs, I love giving my boys new hair and clothes.

 

After getting my first doll and not having anything for her to change into at the time.. I've been buying up outfits for the next 3 dolls that I plan to get.

2 will be here at the end of March, and the 3rd I'm not 100% sure which one I even want, but I'm going to have enough clothes.

 

Buying clothes and shoes is my other obsession. I find them too lovely to leave xDDD Specially shoes. My dolls have got a lot of since they came, and I still want more!! xD

 

Shoes! Doll shoes are just so wonderful, miniature (well, 1/3 scale) shoes that look just like real shoes. And shoes are the one part of the outfit I'm not able to make myself.

Especially red shoes. All my dolls must have a pair of red shoes, and I have actually bought red shoes for dolls I don't have yet..

I'm poor so I don't buy much. XDDD
When I do have the money, I always buy clothes and accessories.
And fabric that I am CONVINCED I'll make something out of for the boys, but I never do. TT___TT;

Right now mine seems to be "WIGSSSSS! MORE WIGGGSSS!". I have one doll. she has 3 outfits (one being default). 1 pair of pants on their way. but she has 3 wigs and 1 on the way --;;;;;;;;;;;

 

Pretty dress for my girls.......Well, Pink House like or Lolita style.
I love them dress in that style :P

Beside dolls, drawing fanart and writing fanfiction for Animation/Comic/Game.
And also surfing on the Japanese ACG website for drawings and fictions.
Oh, ACG/Seiyu music.

 

It's still toys and props for my crew... Followed closely by fabric for sewing clothes for them, ready-made clothes, and the ever-present eyes and wigs. (Although I'm getting ready to sell off a lot of the wigs and eyes no one around here ever uses, and probably won't be buying many more except as replacements-) ^_^

 

Bags and shoes! O___o

 

erm I am obsessed with cheesecake pin-up and anything particularly clothes and accessories from the 40's and 50's. I am also particularly fond of burlesque and any burlesque related books, stars (mainly vintage/older performers). I am also a horder of fabric and sewing supplies (I have mountains of trimmings etc). I just can't control myself if I see something I like sewing wise I HAVE to have it.

I should really get around to doing more sewing though... but I sometimes feel loathe to cut into my beautiful fabric. Weird hmmm...

 

This probably sounds a bit weird, but..new looks ^_^ I love to just think of a look for them, and then make an outfit, find a wig to go with it, search for some shoes(though luckily, most of the time I can use the shoes we already have XD)pick out the eyes, search for some props and take pictures or just stare at them and their new look..I love 'reinventing' my dolls

 

lately, it's books and toys- my guys spend a lot of time reading, and Akemi is very fond of his Mp3 player

miniatures. tiny cups, tiny plates, tiny backpacks..tiny watches..tiny food..tiny little everything.

Miniatures have always fascinated me and I used to pick through my mom's old re-ment dollhouse from when she was a kid..and i was just blown away by the detail of these gorgeous toys...Now I try to make miniatures of just about everything i can think of X3

they fascinate me..and realistic props can really make a doll's personality stand out

 

Lets see. First it was wigs. I have one and three on the way (and sorely tempted to buy two more). Most are for dolls I wont have for quite a while

Then I found a less expensive habbit. Eyes. I have one pair and am currently drooling over around four pairs of Schwarzaugen eyes. One is for a drow elf that I don't even know what size she will be so its kinda silly. Two are for my future BW DES, and one pair just looks cool. Don't know what I will use gold eyes for....

Now I am finding myself wanting little BJDs for my big BJD. I am getting a petdoll and want to get a Pury.

I need help......

Oh and I am in the process of learning to make little books for my doll...

And I am trying to make a dress...

I am the queen of tangets!!!

I just got my doll towards the end of last year, and I already have three pair of eyes, three wigs plus one more on the way!!!

I want more, more, more eyes and wigs. They can change the look of a doll so much it's unbelievable

Well, for me it's just possibly, fabric. My mom is a quilter so she just adds to my obsession. I have a large tub of fabric in my room that is full of fabric, mini chains, elastic, leather, ect for there dolly needs.

 

I can't stop buying eyes, wigs, and clothes! It can get pretty obsessive!

 

My dolls are becoming total bookworms, as I keep making little doll-sized books for them.

 

Shoes. I can't stop buying them! Every pair of shoes I see from leekeworld, Luts, DoD, Dollmore etc etc i have to have them!

 

My life revolves around bellydance and costume making for said hobbies.

Same here, jackets and coooooats! Warm and snuggly sort of clothes :'D. Winter is a-coming.

 

Clothes.

Frilly dresses, especially Alice in Wonderland kind of ones.

: ) But any girly dress will do.

But I only like clothes that are completely to scale for dolls. They look like little mini-human clothes.

If I can look, and see it's not perfect, I probably won't spend money. : )

 

For me that would be deifinitely wigs and clothes, especially kimono. My doll has way more kimono than needed lol

 

I am even more obsessed with Checking DOA. Cant stay away to long, ill get afraid i am going to miss some awesome news, forget to comment on a friends new doll or miss out on someone selling a severly underprized doll.

 

one of my obsessions has not been mentioned here yet! Jewelry! Oh the jewelry! my girl is a jewelry whore!!!! last time i counted she had over eighty pieces of jewelry!! a whole stinken box worth! -and i can not help but make her even more jewelry i see it and i have to make her one! and oh boy the fabric obsession! got that one too! LOL!

 

It was scouting out doll shoes, so few of mine can share a shoe size, need more shoes! That was cut short by the realisation the only doll of mine lacking shoes was a hooved doll. Now it's clothing, more specifically matching "sets"- shirt, pants, jackets, jewelry, the lot. I hate buying just one item and having to pay as much in shipping as I did for the item so I try to make sure I'm ordering many items I want in one go, rather than have individual peices trickle home.

Oh, and waistcoats. I got this neat waistcoat-type thing that had coat tails recently and now I want a leather waistcoat for my Sabik, it's at the stage I am thinking up outfits I want based around the general idea of leather waistcoats and wanting to buy specific dolls to fit into them!
