What mythological character would you like to see as a doll?

I'm seconding all of the Hindu mythology ones, I'm in love with Kali and she would make a beautiful doll

 

I'd love to see that ~

I love looking at mermaids, angels and elf BJDs. The more, the merrier. And knights! Female knights!

 

Egyptian gods/goddesses would be interesting if done right, particularly Isis, Osiris, Horus, Bastet, Anubis, Set, Nephthys, and Nut.

 

Arachnea, hands down. Or even Anubis or like a human with jackal like ears, that would be awesome!

Sorry, if anyone has already had these ideas, I didn't feel like reading the 11 pages full of posts just to see if my idea was there before posting ^///^

 

Hmm a centaur of course, something more dragon like, a dark mermaid instead of a disney one would be cool (don't get me wrong I love Ariel ). I doubt an Amazon is really mythical but an Amazon would be awesome. An Imp, wood nymph, ooo even a sucubus or incubus would be cool.

I'd like to see a "Harpy" either female or male (though I believe there are no male Harpies XD)
But I'd love to have a doll with a beautiful face and feathers sticking out of the lower arms (close to a full wing) together with bird paws.

i would like to see any of celtic godesses...Maybe Morigna or Blodeuwedd or Epona...with a pure celtic white skin,long red(maybe even curly)hair and celtic clothes...i like celtic gods very much and i thinck that theres something magical and tragical in them..

 

I second Epona! I love Celtic mythology I also love to see Iris (Greek) made into doll form as well

 

I'd love to see a Madusa BJD or a Haydes from the hercules cartoon because they would make very unique looking dolls.

 

Heh! The first mythological character I thought of was Sleipnir, the eight legged steed of Odin! XD But that might be a bit much... XD

I know fantasy dolls are the big trend right now, but though I don't/can't buy everything, I like to see them, and it pleases me that there's so much interest in ye olde gods! ^_~

I too would like to see some type of mermaid/merman. I'd also like a siren as well because I think it'd be cool to have the two opposites. One that represents beauty, life, and grace while the other represents lies, death, and ugliness.

The character that my first doll shall step into the role of is a long-existing (Pushing 10 years) OC of mine that is a reptile-hybrid-thing, with lizardy hands and feet. Ideally, someone would release some perfect hands and feets for him and I'd jump into a split with somebody.

More realistically though, I'll probably teach myself how to sculpt, and make my own. x_x

 

I can't think of much of anything that already hasn't been done, either as a mod or as a doll. Going out on a limb, so don't quote me, but Soom was one of the first companies to really do a non-human doll, and not just with the elf ears. Souldoll has a couple now, and Unidoll is even getting in on it.

But what I'd really like to see is ball-jointed demon/dragon wings. Wings that could actually be posed, and/or semi-prehensile tails. Demonic/draconic feet, clawed and able to even move like the jointed hands. Possibly even, more beastial heads.

 

I would really love a Centaur or somthing half dragon, half human.

Hmmmz well I would like to see ghosts, there is see trough resin right? Just use that. Or dragon like dolls. But I guess they are already doing a good job with all the interesting dolls I have seen so far, so let's see how it goes.

 

I'd like to see a Pan BJD. Greek mythology Pan though, not the faun from Pan's Labyrinth... I think he's cool but he kind of creeps me out at the same time!

 

Oh, I would definitely buy a jackalope bjd if any company ever came out with one.

 

I just realized-- in addition to the Achilles and Patroclus BJD's I'd so totally get (and oh, fine, a Briseis just to make Ach happy) I kind of want one of the Furies. 'Cept that you really don't ever get just one of those, so I'd end up with three. Or Clytaemnestra. With her bloody robe...

So uhm, i think if miraculously a list of all mythological beings from all of human history appeared, they should all be sculpted.

Personally, and I may be alone in this, but I want to see Pre-Colombian American deities and creatures, like Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl, or the Wendigo. I would love to see BJD artists' twists on that mythology.

 

Mermaids are my favorite! It would be great to see more done with that theme!

I think it might be interesting to see more dolls that take the form of characters from Greek mythology. Like a line for Olympian gods, a line for creatures like satyrs and harpies, and possibly an animal/beastly line for creatures like Cerberus? The latter might be taking it too far, but I think that'd be pretty cool, considering some of the anthro/non-human dolls out there. ^^;;;

 

Oh, a Harpy would be fantastic~ So would an Anubis, but you can get pretty close to that with certain anthros and some crafty painting.


I was just giddy, happy that SOOM released a Dragon, eastern style Long, but still. I love all dragons, and have been collecting figurines and toys of them for years, so any sculpt inspired by one makes me smile. (Hoping a future monthly is of baby dragons, since Sphaler is way too large for me!)

As awesome as Sphaler is, I would love to see a company attack the kind of Medieval mythos; thick talons, leathery wings, cat-eyes, pointed horns, and maybe even bejeweled torsos.

I wouldn't want the horrifying typical look though. I'd love a gorgeous rendition of her, that had an optional head of snakes. GODDESS that would rock!!! The other one i'd kill to see, would be an werewolf that actually LOOKS like a werewolf. The pretty boy dolls are great, but i've never seen a rendition of a werewolf that had a gorgeous face, in wolf form LOL I'd like to see the optional head have the snarling wolf-face with teeth bared. Maybe something along the style of the Lycans in Underworld, and Underworld: Evolution.

But if there were so many choices in the market, I'd probably want ALL of them.

Anything from Greek or Egyptian mythology would be welcome… I also just have a major weakness for anything with goat horns.

I'd like to see a Medusa doll. Not necessarily with snakes for hair (that might not look very good) but they could be included in a different way. The Fates would be awesome too. I think the seven deadly sins would also be good, something I'd definitely buy if it was done well.

I would like to see a doll modeled from a Greek god, like Hermes or Atlas, and even Hercules (not the Disney Herc... but I like him too :P)

 

I have to say....spirit. Not 'ghost', cus I think of like....a white bed sheet with holes for eyes, but a WS doll dressed in a flowy layered sheer type thing. Really awesome faceup....

A selkie is a seal maiden who sheds her sealskin and becomes a beautiful human sometimes. If you steal her skin after she's transformed, she will be unable to turn back into a seal and will have to marry you.

I'd love to see a selkie doll. I don't want her with seal-parts - that contradicts the legend, since she should be either fully human or fully seal at all times. But it would be so sweet to see a limited edition selkie theme with a red feathered hat and fake sealskin.

That's kind of an obscure legend, though, even in the west - and maybe entirely unheard of in the east. And also the cap + sealskin are fairly useless as garments, they'd only be accessories and only have meaning if you know the selkie legend. So I don't think any company would use this...

 

Studying egyptology, I would really love a doll of the goddess Anukis, with the incredible headgear and staff and typical egyptian dress. Or a doll of the goddess Hathor with her maginificent headgear. The egyptian gods were said to have hair like lapiz lazuli, the blue semiprecious stone, so blue hair all the way. Oh and the dieties were sometimes described as having "limbs of gold", so it would def have to be a tanned doll.

Kogepan, I remember the seal legend also. I think it would be a neat idea. I have seen the Medusa doll & I like him. I would buy Greek mythology, Egyptian and mermaid characters as well.

I love the selkie legend!
If I were to design a selkie BJD, she'd be kind of creepy and long and damp looking, with long stringy hair. Water critters gotta be creepy in my book.

Of course, you could also go the cute rout and have the seal skin be like cute Lain-style PJs. XD XD

I'd love to see more of the Hindu gods and goddesses with multiple arms. DD-Anne makes Lotus Near (who is so adorable!), but I'd love to see some in larger SD form. I've always thought harpies were interesting creatures, so Soom Alk and Yrie look fantastic, but again I'd love to see them in a larger form. Dragons as well!

 

I'd love to see a dryad, either as a tree-ish person (branchy arms and legs, wood colored. I think that would be pretty awesome.
