What mythological character would you like to see as a doll?

After reading this thread I decided that the doll on her way home to me right now would have to have a selki outfit. I bought a yard of seal skin velvet (beautiful aged-honey brown with an extra long silky pile) and HW blue silk to make her a "seal skin" cape. And I think the wig I ordered for her is the same color as the velvet. I'm super excited for her to arrive so I can get started making the outfit! Thanks for the awesome idea!

 

I would love to see a griffon (as a mount) or half-griffon doll (like centaurs). Something with jointed feather wings or a naga (half human/half serpent). To pick a specific mythological character though, I would have to say the Chinese deities Suzaku, Shiryu, Genbu, and Byakko. Suzaku should have brilliant crimson wings, Genbu a serpent tail, Shiryu dragon scales and Byakko white tiger stripes, ears and tail.

 

I'd love the see a Jack Frost doll! I'm planning one myself with a design I've done~

 

I second/third/fourth/whatever the siren doll. I'm actually in the process of making one! I bought some Soom Galena feet off the MP earlier this year and plan to put them on a DZ Una for this express purpose!

 

While this isn't necessarily a mythological creature, I would love to see a llama/alpaca inspired satyr. How they would incorporate the long neck without making it too freakish .... oh jeebus Thinking of a working humanoid profile would be cool, too. (Soom and/or Doll Chateau, this means you!)

Huldra from Scandinavian folklore without a doubt. A caved back like a hallow tree trunk and tail would have been so awesome. Gonna make myself one of these once I find the perfect sculpt.

 

I'm not sure if it's been done but I would like to see a series based on the zodiac constellations like sagittarius, aries…that would be pretty cool!

that was just what i thought just a moment ago, because im really into Ursula from disneys little mermaid, not really a Mythological creature, but a doll i'd like to see.

I aktually like all those Fantasy/Mythologicals as dolls, especially Dolls with angelwings are really beautiful, my opinion.

 

I've always wanted to make an undine, but have never gotten around to it. (I would likely use a blue resinsoul SD for it)

I think it would be cool to see Egyptian Mythology themed dolls. Anubis or Horus maybe....although, I'm not sure how I would actually feel about a doll with the head of a jackal or falcon...

 

I wouldn't mind seeing a doll based off of Arachne (did I spell her name right? ><") or some really cool Nymphs with like....long, gangly bodies, really wide eyes (one of which could have a flower blooming out of it?), and bark like skin. Those'd be cool....

 

I agree with that. Like how Cancer could have claws instead of hands? They'd have to get smart though, so signs like Aries didn't end up looking like any other hooved Bjd.

 

Well, the Soom Cancer doll DID have a claw instead of an arm. Soom did the whole zodiac.

 

Some of the Fair Folk! A Dullahan or a Baensidhee! Oooh or one of the Gentry, with their hollow backs and maybe a Redcap tiny? All kinds of fun things!

 

I'm sure this has already been said in the multitude of previous posts, but a Medusa sculpt would be kick-arse!

Other than that what I'd love to see is an actual Sphinx doll; there are centaurs so why not Sphinxes?
A phoenix would also be lovely, as would a hell raven... and a humanoid dragon instead of all the dragonoid humans...

 

I'd love to see an Orc~ Like the remade ones in Skyrim. They actually look really good, and I have an Orc character, but can't make her into a doll unless I find a perfect mold and do heavy modding.

I don't know what this would count as, maybe a ghost or something, but a doll entirely see-through (but tinted a color) would also be awesome.

 

I would love to see a phoenix with transparent coloured resin for the wings, feet, ears.

 

I've got the Greek Gods all planned out in fairyland dolls right now. ^^
Artemis is my first project and I chose a pukipuki since she is also the maiden goddess, appearing to young girls.
Pan will be my second ^^

I'd love to see someone try and make a sphinx. would look amazing if they did it right

 

I'd love to see a griffin, one, of course with the head, arms, talons, and wings of an eagle and the hindquarters of a lion. I'd want it to be an SD: 80cm long when wings are folded and 90cm tall when wings are vertically extended. The wings would have to be fully pose-able, jointed feathers, skeletal structure, and base. It would probably take 14mm eyes and have two optional heads. The default being calm and elegant, and the alternate intimidating and fierce. ....I'll shut up now.

 

Medusa would be perfect. After all she was known for her stare and that is the one reason why a lot of people find BJDs a bit creepy is their stare. Also, she would be an easy make as it would require only a wig that could be changed out. The best part of that option is you can have Medusa before she was changed into Gorgon by Athena and then you can have her after, just by changing her wig.

Another idea is to make dryads, naiads, oceanids, and oreads. They are such minor mythological characters that have such potential. There could be subtle or small things done to make them fit their bill. Dryad ears could be elfish, but with tips that turn into small leafy branches. Oread legs up to mid-calf could look as if made of stone. Naiads could have small patches of fish scales at random on the sculpt and Oceanids could have wigs that make their hair appear to be made of kelp, along with barnacles at random on the sculpt.

 

I'm thinking maybe a Griffin, a Hippogriff, Pan, a were-bear, a kitsune (fox spirit), maybe even a totoro BJD?

 

Ah, indeed they did! They even had a male naga! This is what absolutely sucks about being so new to this hobby. Damn limited sculpts. Thanks for the info, though. The pictures are quite nice regardless.

 

Seeing some creatures from the Land of Oz made into dolls would be so sick. I would LOVE to see a Wheeler doll! Oh man...I may have to mod that.

I'd like to see a living scarecrow doll, too, or a living plant of sorts. A doll with bark-like skin and roots for feet could be amazing. I've seen Blythes modded to look like they were carved from wood, but that's about it.

 

Dryads or Naga, I would also love to see any indian god/goddess, maybe Shiva! (4 arms and a blue body)

As others have said, a sphinx. A cat body would be amazing! I think everything else I'd be interested in has been covered by various companies. Here's looking at you, Soom & Impldoll.

 

I'm still waiting for a large curvy feline (lion or cat) fertility goddess type to appear... such as the Egyptian goddess Bast / Bastet / Pasht or the Norse goddess Freja. I had a lot of hope along these lines when Soom released first Ender then the lovely little Trond & Kivi (the concept was good but execution not so much with the small rounded ears, the odd feet and cutsey paw hands a little off-putting)...but no hoped-for Goddess ever emerged. Yes, there was Iplehouse's Noctarcana Circus Yur the Astrologer release...probably the closest so far but too much a shy and humble feline face... if an anthro head was used I'd prefer a bolder and prouder type.... or better yet, a mask option on a girl with feline / lionesque legs & tail as opposed to an anthro head at all.
Hearing mention of Medusa types, Soom's new Gneiss is quite sweet and pretty, much as was Angelheim's Zena Medusa but I think I'd much prefer a darker Medusa altogether, personally.

I wish that a company would make a Minotaur type doll. Think of it, a doll with a bull for a head and shoulders, then with a man's body.

Odin, with the beard and the missing eye and the long blond braids and the huge muscled body. Complete with his ravens and a leather/viking outfit.

A dryad might be cool too. Make her look like she's out of wood. Her body could be carved to look like wood and her legs like tree roots with leaf patterns on her arms and face.

 

Hum... I would definitely love to see Cernudos, aka the Green Man - the celtic male deity of fertility, and the triple goddess. I would also like to see some greek mythology characters such as Dionysus, Apollo, Poseidon Aphrodite and Athena.
Some African-Brasilian gods would also be great - the Orixás, like Oxum, Ogum, and so on. I bet that some Hindu deities like Shiva, Ganesh and Kali would look stunning... I would also love to see, some Inca, Aztec, Mayan deities

 

I think someone said earlier about Alchemist dolls, you were referencing FMA maybe? Yeah, not really mythical, but maybe more anime style dolls? Well, not anime style XD. Dolls modeled after anime characters.

I believe it's Loongsoul that has a new line with a really handsome Odin. And another company did have a male sculpt with a head of snakes (mag-on, non-articulated though). Souldoll has done a girl Shiva, and Soom had their MD doll with the optional Anubis head and Egyptian trappings.

 

Kitsune! I'd LOVE a kitsune doll, complete with nine tails and ears and a sly looking, teasing face! Or a devil girl/succubus. Long twisty tail, big demon horns, possibly petite little cloven hooves. And as had been said before, a dryad or tree spirit -- wood-like legs and/or body, leaves and vines, elven ears...

 

That was Angelheim who had a Medusa doll. Their Zion. And I'm sure that Soom had a medusa doll also, Gneiss.

A linyaari, there's a bunch of dolls like one except for the leg fur, ears, and the hands. I have been planning to modify a doll to have the correct features, but first i need to find a body for my fairyland head i am waiting to arrive

 

I was thinking that the new Iple Aliyah would make a great Medusa actually. I can't afford to go there but I'd love to see her done up as one...

I'd love to see a Sphinx - an Egyptian themed doll with lion paws and tail. Feathered eagle wings could be an optional extra, since not all sphinxes had wings. I'd also love to see a Kirin, with scaled, hooved legs and a branched unicorn horn. Some water sprites that aren't mermaids would be nice too (I love finned ears, arms, legs, hands and feet, but hate the look of jointed mermaid tails)

 

I would love to see selkies, fairies, dragons, goblins, Pegasus/winged centaur, insects, snakes/serpents.

I want a big terrifying Minotaur. I don't want him to be pretty at all, just big, scary unyieldy minotaur, with an awesome warhammer!

 

I would like to see a Faun (or sader or pan whichever you would like to call it) in an SD size. With fur around the hips and legs not just at the feet and goat horns like you see in the story books (C.S. Lewis comes to mind).

 

Mature tiny fantasy dolls! Centaurs, and a lion body/ human upper body. Overall, I want Soom to make mini versions of their awesome fantasy dolls, with paws or hooves instead of fairy feet. Mature MSD centaurs and other fantasy dolls would be nice too. I really like the new dragon Resin Soul has.
