I don't work, my husband supports me. But as far as hobbies, I love game dev and video games, 3d modeling, and music production, I'm also a mom to a spoiled dog and cat Maybe someday I can get good enough to make money with my hobbies and help my husband to retire early, but I'm very lucky to be in a situation where there's no pressure to do so I'm always learning some new hobby to stay productive, like right now I'm learning how to crochet and sew for my dollies. It's cool to see a lot of fans of similar things here, I suspected a lot of doll fans would of course be into crafting, but I always wondered how much overlap there was between gaming and dolls... seems like there's quite a bit
I failed at a bunch of creative things, but so far, by best gig is paid GM! I run Vampire the Masquerade and Kids on Brooms for Ann's Adventures. It's been really rewarding and a wonderful job. I WAS shooting for the stars- an agented children's author- but I have run out of time and other people's money LOL! So that's been set aside while I do something that is actually paying money. I also freelance for Otaku USA reviewing manga. I have ONE novel I'd like to finish and self publish, it's based on an indie TTRPG called Wanderhome but I am really burnt out on writing. I spent the last three years editing multiple books, non of which received an offer from agents. My hobbies are are art and dolls for the most part. I play a ton of TTRPGs on Discord/R20 and one day hope to return to writing.
I'm employed as a graphic designer and my other hobbies are video games, cosplay, drawing/painting, photography, screen printing, anime/manga, fashion, and cooking.
I work as a call centre customer service rep, and I also do payroll and help with some of the scheduling team—with the very exciting subject of electricity bills haha. The company treats me really well though, so all in all I’ve come to love it. I’m also a fulltime student, and I’m doing a combined degree in English and psych, in my last semester. The English degree shows up a lot here—I have 2 dolls from Paradise Lost of all books, 1 who is a part of PL canon but is from the Faerie Queene, one who is Cassandra while also being Dru from Buffy, plans possibly for Helen of Troy because Euripides made me love her, and a vampire partly based on Augusta Webster’s A Castaway, possibly, because I fell in love with her deeply flawed but very human speaker in my last paper. I also write in my spare time—which I have very little of, but here we are. I have a main series of modernish fantasy novels—for someone who loves old books, I actually don’t super love medieval settings. Currently the draft of book one is sitting at 43k, and the proto-draft of the alt timeline is at 132k and finished but no longer canon. I have a lot of smaller projects with my dnd characters (the other large group of dolls in my house), an allegorical-ghost story called “deboning Euripides” that is actually about trauma and executive dysfunction, and a piece of shamelessly X-rated vampire fiction. Also I write tons of Buffy fan fiction. As part of the current degree, I have “All Delight in Violent Ends”—a choose your own adventure mishmash of All’s well that ends well and Shakespeare’s Venus and Adonis that’s about Bertram, and more broadly about men that don’t want their stalkers. The flash-version for class was 7k but the draft is ~23k and has 2 playable characters, but only “one” ending. I’m also a dnd player (but it’s been so long since I’ve played honestly idk if I still count) and the miniatures paintbrushes are a godsend for doll things, and I hoard dice like it’s a hobby on its own. Dnd also gets me tons of the characters I’ve shelled, and also when I DM it gives me the excuse to shell all the characters from my worldbuilding. Which has gotten me a rather expansive group of hell-characters. I’m also a big fan of reptiles—right now I only have 2 snakes (one old, one middle-aged) and a grumpy tegu but I love chameleons and I’ll have them again soon, once I move out.
I'm a retail vendor for a card company. But I've also been a dog nanny, and obvsly prefer that one but unfortunately there's not a lot of call for that in my current small town For hobbies there's reading, journaling, my collections: toys/dolls/nature, art: photography/painting/mixed media assemblage/ceramics, board/card games, puzzles, Lego, and plants. Needle/fabric craft of most kinds eludes me, but I can & enjoy some basic xstitch & (hand stitch) felt craft. Dabble in jewelry making. I have a srs love for the online dragon "game" FlightRising? My dragon bebs are like family now. Also I do a lot of writing - fic mostly, as I remain A Fandom Peep. My two biggest loves are animals & music, but consider those a necessity, not a hobby.
I work with 3 languages, as both a school teacher and a professional translator. I also do art, primarily as a hobby, but I would love to turn it into my full-time job one day
Job? Meh. Other hobbies? I like hobby grade RC cars and trucks. I really like what's called crawlers and trail trucks. That's my favorite kind of RC. You can take them on hiking trails and turn a hike into a video game. I've been doing it for nearly three years, and it has gotten me off my butt so much! I have two 1/10 scale trail trucks. One is a generic version of the current generation Toyota 4Runner, and the other is an officially licensed 2021 Ford Bronco. I also like to do RC car racing. I got fourth place in last summer's Kyosho Mini Z points series!
Currently a student (again!) my last few jobs were in retail but I’ve also worked in a few galleries and arts education spaces. As for other hobbies, I sew… dolls clothes mainly but I used to make a lot of cosplays I want to get back into it but I haven’t really found any stuff that’s inspired me lately… My main creative outlet is drawing, I am one of those people who draws on everything lol and I collect comics and vintage heavy metal magazines aside from dolls
Currently a student and TA, but other hobbies include just about everything visual arts related and video games!
I posted here a couple months ago, but I figured I'd post again. The job's still meh. I work, but work is more a means to an end than anything else these days. I don't usually go on about my RC stuff here, but I've got some newer pics that I liked and thought some people might enjoy seeing and some talk about upgrades that some people might find interesting. I've been out with my RC trucks most weekends and seeing how spring is turning into summer. Things were starting to grow again here in early May. My Enduro Trailrunner was really hidden in this narrow trail. And here we are later in May. This is actually a bicycle jump that my Trailrunner is going up. This was from last Sunday morning. I actually had to cut this outing short because of all of the bugs. I've now got better insect repellent and a hat to help with this. At least, I hope it helps. We'll see! This isn't just about me going out on trails and doing Instagram pics It's got a serious modding, customization, and maintenance side. A lot of parts on my Trailrunner have been replaced with upgrades and even a bit of personal customization. My steering knuckles are upgraded aluminum ones that I have fastened on with a personally customized setup that I haven't seen a lot of people do. I did it for durability. The steering servo has been replaced with a more durable NSDRC one. I've got steel pivot balls instead of metal ones in many spots, and I'm looking into alternatives to even that. My rear links have been replaced with high clearance links. Those links are fastened with longer stainless steel screws with nuts on the other ends for added security. My shocks have been modified slightly with stiffer springs in the rear as well as enhanced fastening for added security against parts popping off when I least want them to. I have a 3D printed rear bumper with a spare tire carrier that has paid for itself in usefulness. I upgraded the transmission with machined gears. I replaced all of the bearings with ceramic bearings except for the ones in the steering knuckles. In that case, I used the cheaper but more durable option of Enduro SE bushings. I kept on breaking bearings in the steering knuckles, steel or ceramic. The front differential has been upgraded with a forged spool gear. I have an equal upgrade ready for the rear differential, but I haven't felt the need to upgrade it yet. It continues to hold up with the stock gear nearly three years down the line. There are probably more modifications that I forgot to mention. On top of that, I got some upgrades for my Trailrunner recently. I haven't installed them yet, but here they are. The big thing is I got the Hobbywing QuicRun Fusion SE 1800 brushless motor. This should help with durability because it's a sealed motor. I already upgraded my motor with a Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster brushed motor which is very good, but this one is better equipped for the challenges I put my truck through. I could submerge my Trailrunner in saltwater and the motor wouldn't fail. It's also a two in one motor and electronic speed control system, so that frees up the ESC spot on my Trailrunner's chassis. I got a second radio receiver box which I'm going to use as a container for spare parts in case I need to make repairs on the trail. I'll be able to make more repairs than I used to without having to lug around extra parts on my person. These changes stand to drastically change the way I build my Trailrunner and on how I prepare my loadout. The motor is more efficient, so I'll be able to carry less batteries. With more spare parts and less batteries, I may even be more prepared to go longer distances. Moving on, I got a set of stainless steel screws custom sorted for my Trailrunner. This hardware is rust-free, though much of the stock hardware that's still on my truck has held up pretty well to be honest. I also got all of the Bowhouse Enduro independent front suspension version 1 steering upgrades which will help reduce slop in the steering linkages. Not pictured here because it's on its way is a set of stainless steel skid plates made for the independent front suspension version 1. It's coming from Poland! Finally, the Knightrunner bumpers were things I picked up that I had an idea for but ultimately decided against using. However, now that I've got these bumpers, I might use them in a future build of a Toyota Tacoma with the upcoming independent front suspension version 2. We'll see. I was planning on building a Jeep Wrangler next, but I might change my mind. Finally, check it out. My Trailrunner is a mini me
I'm a mathematician the only link between dolls and my work is counting them and calculating their cost which leaves me with a worse headache than my students after a complex number mathematical analysis lesson
I work in graphics for marketing (layouts, etc). It's a dry job. I've started drawing comics in the 2010s and I thought I'd never find anything I'd be more passionate about than drawing until I discovered BJDs.
I am a Child and Youth counselor, but I am currently running my own dayhome to be able to stay at home with my almost 3 year old. As far as hobbies go, I draw, paint, play video games, cosplay, play MTG, read, and I collect vintage, books, teacups, and of course dolls haha.
I'm unemployed with various side gigs, the main one being paywalled NSFW art & art commissions & online shops with my stuff (artbooks, file bundles, merch, original artwork etc). I'm also a freelance art instructor for adult classes, but not actually working until September. And a volunteer vice arbitrator. I applied for the latter because I remember how where I'm from, arbitrators get the wildest nonsense, like "sir, this family's son dishonoured my daughter, I demand that he either marry her or die, but his father here won't accept either", but here in Germany, it's neighbour quarrels... "sir, the neighbour's horse ate my orchard" (that's mine. My horse ate the neighbour's orchard)
Hi. I'm in my mid forties, I work in marketing and my other hobby is collecting and building 1:48 scale miniatures. I don't bring my dolls outside unless it's to a doll convention. I do gravitate to things that involve creativity.
I’m a career office professional and currently Executive Assistant at a tech company. My hubby and I are child free, so I have a few hobbies: coloring, sewing, knitting, world cinema, police procedurals/crime drama, newbie day hiker, and reading classical literature.
I am a supervisor at a mixed antiques/ vintage/ crafts mall. My other hobbies are gardening, film photography, sewing, drawing and painting, reading poetry, listening to music. Also writing but I have not been able to adjust to having time or energy for (quite frankly) almost anything after I started working again last year and writing is the interest I have yet to try to get back to at all.
I'm currently working as a behavior interventionist in clinic for kids with autism spectrum disorder, which translates primarily to a lot of toilet training, helping develop emotional coping skills, and aiding with positive interactions with peers and others. My long-term goal is to get into psychology research, as I'm nearly done with a graduate degree in trauma research. Outside of that, I also have two small children of my own. My other hobbies are reading, writing, crochet, drawing, video games, and working out, though I've dabbled in most fiber arts and traditional art mediums you can think of. I'm never bored! I don't remember what being bored is like!
Haha. My previous careers had no overlap with any of my hobbies (researcher, social welfare, medical field). I'm happily unemployed/semi-retired at this point which probably aligns me closer to my hobbies now than it did before. None of my previous careers would have been appropriate for bringing a dolly into work day, but it would have been funny if I tried. My other hobbies include: Stationery collecting (stationery sets, letter pads, envelopes, stickers, wax seals, etc) Paper crafting/scrapbooking/junk journaling/journaling Letter writing Fountain pen enthusiasts (small collection) Book collecting Stamp collecting (postage stamps, not so much rubber stamps) Gaming Anime/manga Jewelry making (simple elastic bracelets with whatever beads I can afford) Coin collecting (small, mostly not mint, basic coins) Star Wars (original trilogy and some prequels) Formerly Lolita then Steampunk then something else now Sewing (when able bodied enough) Me being into gaming and anime/manga made doing my medical profession easier as my young clients were more willing to interact with me and trusted me faster than other non-gamer, non-geek/nerd paraprofessional. Hahaha. Other medical professionals with multiple degrees? They didn't trust as much. Me knowing what games they were talking about and me talking about games I played and animes I watched? Instantly trustworthy in their eyes. Woot!
