I work part time at Spencers, and am a housewife. I have taken dolls to sit in the back room at Spencers, especially if I'm going somewhere after work like a meet or photoshoot or something, and nobody minds. Some of my coworkers collect other dolls/figures, so it's welcome. Other hobbies would be retro video gaming, travel, sewing, drawing/painting, reading about unsolved mysteries, growing herbs and cacti, exploring abandoned places and learning about the solar system.
I’m a cosmetologist and I have brought my bjd with me. I absolutely love having my little pupu to take when I can. I want to enjoy her as much as possible. I think it would be cool to have a desk job and have them to sit with you.
I'm a science fiction writer. I also like painting (digital and watercolor), composing, learning languages, and game design. Sometimes I display a couple of my dolls in the study where I work because they just make me smile.
I'm a portrait photographer. And bjd hobby made a great impact into developing my photo hobby into photowork. That was like a first step before I've became brave enough for photographing people Concerning other hobbies, I'm animefan and keen on art.
I work in an construction business office processing invoices for payment. I have only taken a doll to work to show a friend I wouldn't leave them out as its a busy office and wouldn't want them to be knocked or drinks spilt on them. My other hobbies are collection resin model horses, crochet and listening to audio stories. I used to ride and have my own pony, and show Shetland Sheepdogs and guinea pigs but had to give up due to a chronic illness
Seamtress and sahm, so my dolls are always with me. My other hobbies are enamel pins and I'm part of the SCA(though I haven't been real active since having a kid).
I'm a quality control clerk at a clothing warehouse/distribution center. I have brought a couple dolls up to my workplace before. Nobody cares as long as I don't leave with the product we sell. My desk has zero traffic and is tucked away in a corner so I really wouldn't worry about bringing them. I do have a few re-ment poseable skeletons in front of my monitor and I always have pretty much all of my coworkers in my department know about the dolls as I do keep pictures of some up. My other hobbies would be reading, gardening, aquariums, video games, anime, and even though they're more family than they are a hobby I do have 6 cats and 2 dogs that demand a lot of attention.
I run a security main desk at Cummins Engine. I am former SCA, currently very into Jane Austen fandom( I am planning to make a little white Regency dress this weekend), I paint, do silversmithing, leatherwork, and woodworking, but mostly I recreate historical costume and read ( I read 18 hours a day if no one makes me do anything else!) I have done LARP, and D&D...but not recently, sigh. I have taken my BJDs to work, to restaurants, to the Pennsic War, to picnics and libraries... but I have decided I need smaller dolls as most of mine are Iplehouse EIDs and they are too heavy to carry around easily.
Preschool teacher; weekend caregiver at a nursing home; and probably most exciting is managing an app a friend and I created.. Hobbies when I have time are anime, DnD (am new), some videogames, reading and reading some more, painting miniatures, drawing, archery, easy hikes, Pokemon Go. Previous hobbies included horseback riding / horses (drassage, favorite was hunter/jumper!) , magic the gathering, flute, languages (Spanish, Japanese). Should the app fail, I think I'll go back to school and try for a Masters in data science
I'm a software engineer. I work for a marketing automation company, helping to create the software that we sell. My hobbies are diverse and change a lot (I have ADHD and sticking to one hobby is hard, I tend to hyperfocus on one thing for a few weeks then switch to another), but the ones that are the most consistent are video games, digital painting, and writing. I also really like crochet, polymer clay, beading, watercolors, taking care of my houseplants...
I work in the Information Technology field, which is related to computers. My other hobbies are playing instruments and singing. I play the guitar, bass, ukulele and cello. I don't have a band though but I play just for fun. xD I'm passionate about it and it makes me feel better whenever I'm feeling under the weather. I draw once in a blue moon or when I feel like it too. I also play games but most of the time I feel like I could have done more productive stuff.
I'm an aspiring writer, and I'm working on completing first draft of my first story, but I have several more stories planned. Besides that I'm on an early retirement due to mental health problems. My hobbies includes writing, learning photography, diamond paintings, playing around with creative stuff in general, reading and watching series.
Lots of IT folks here!! Which makes me very happy! I’m currently a student, hoping to study Software Development at collage in September. Kinda want to take my dolls it’s me but I don’t know how people would react! And coding is a rather male dominated field too so... I wouldn’t want my hobby to be another reason to potentially ostracise me. My other hobbies are gaming, photography and playing the piano
You guys and your cool jobs! I am currently an elementary school custodian. Since I’m not in the office all day, I don’t bring my dolls to work for fear that they’ll be stolen. Not that our students are big on stealing, it is quite a difference from the middle and high school students I previously taught. My other hobbies are casual gaming, art, and the SCA, so not much hobby-wise goes on during my breaks.
I'm a database technician (meaning I just add docs on that database and do nothing actually complicated). In my spare time I like to draw (especially comics) and sometimes write. I also sew, knit and do crochet, although I rarely finish anything for the last two. Plus I read. And play Zeldq. And sibce I have a desk job, I have dolls at my desk. Not bjds, but I have two hairdorables permanently there, and a 3d printed t-rex that sometimes gets to also keep me company
I'm a private tutor/teacher. I'm really into art (both traditional and digital media), reading (mostly fantasy and sci-fi), video games, and dungeons and dragons. Sometimes I do commissions, so I guess my home also doubles as "work" on occasion.
So happy to see so many IT folks here as well! I’m a software engineer as well, site reliability engineer to be exact. So I mostly write software(buildsystem, devtools) around our infrastructure, security and databases. As for hobbies, I like reading a lot. I just started doing knitting, crocheting recently!
i currently work at a daycare but will soon be working at a hospital near me as a CNA(just finishing my classes and clinicals) but as for hobbies... I love to draw and play the ukulele!
I'm an accountant. The only other hobby I have is The Sims 4...a lot of my free time is lounging on the sofa and watching TV, and I don't consider that a hobby hahah
I work at a factory making car batteries. Not exactly the job of my dreams, but I've been there 17 years now so I guess it stuck. Aside from BJDs I'm an avid writer. I work on original stuff but I seem to write a lot more fanfiction these days than anything. It's just something I find fun and relaxing and people seem to enjoy my stories so why not.
Dog groomer/ kennel assistant. Before I just worked in retail. I have A LOT of hobbies that well...help with this hobby Reading, drawing, writing, knit, crochet, sewing, cosplay, bullet journaling/planner stuff, jam making, Disney theme park history (studying?), jewelry making, beading, make up looks, just... I enjoy learning new things but doll customization has been what I’ve really enjoyed and stuck with.
Hi! I am an RN, I currently work in a community hospital in the operating room. I am also a mom to 2 very active kids, so that increases my job scope to - chauffeur, chef, event planner, housekeeper - and I could probably add a whole lot more. I've only collected BJD's for the past year, but previously I collected fashion dolls for many many years (I'd probably date myself here....). Beautiful dresses and intricate clothing have always intrigued me. My other hobbies include scrapbooking (I have an office dedicated to this!), cross stitch, gardening, mountain biking, hiking, and cookie/cake decorating.
This is such a fun question. I currently work at Walt Disney World. I have so many hobbies, I’m an avid movie watcher, reader, video game enthusiast, miniature painter, artist, board gamer, and doll collector of many types of dolls.
i always joke that i got into it through nepotism, but i had always been interested in stop motion, so i was willing to really dedicate myself to it right off the bat! so i guess a combination of hard work, knowing the right people, and managing to stumble my way into success.
I'm a young adult working in the security industry. I would prefer to work as a crime scene investigator of some kind or maybe perhaps become a paralegal, anything to help put the community I live in. I live in the 3rd most dangerous city in my state. I already customize fashion dolls, and I also do lots of sewing, arts and crafts. I love to draw and create. I'm also an avid gamer. I enjoy traveling, festivals, dates, and spending time with loved ones. I also love getting tattoos!
My job is Information Technology Services. I've done everything from help desk to server installation and setup. My other major hobby is reenactment, particularly the SCA, which has been touched on in other threads.
I'm a graphic designer/ illustrator designing in the infant/toddler feeding industry (bibs and what not). I also collect reborn baby dolls and customized Blythe dolls! (In the past, I have had Pullip and fashion dolls, but I stick to the previously mentioned 3 now). For the most part I love to paint/draw and I'm highly addicted to makeup and learning new ways to apply eyeshadow looks :P Ive brought my dolls to work on a couple occasions, as there is another doll enthusiast who works along side me...we're the oddballs of the office and love it ^_^
I'm another RN. I just finished my BSN, which took me away from a lot of my hobbies, but I used to be a voracious reader. I still enjoy sewing, knitting, crocheting, art of any kind (I like doing faceups, too!), and gaming. Currently WoW classic, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and knitting blankets for my floor for the holidays are taking up my free time. I have some heads on my table for faceups, but I always get this fear of failure before starting! Edit: I've never taken dolls to work... too much VRE and MRSA and CDIFF and ESBL and other random letters. I do take my yarn work to work on night shifts, though.
I'm a CPA and I currently have no time for hobbies but when I do enjoy training my dog (currently learning treibball), playing Splatoon 2, cosplaying, and quilting.
I am a bartender though I am starting my Master’s degree in Fine Art at the end of this month! As for my art I am a printmaker, painter and photographer. I want to incorporate my dolls more into my art as a lot of my imagery lately is inspired by them.
Cosmetologist I love doing chigirie art as a hobby. Nothing better than the texture on a canvas ❤️ And ofcourse playing with Bjd doll. I love watching videos of every artists dolls, it’s so amazing how much time and love the artist puts into making them ☺️
I am a low-level state government office drone. My hobbies mainly involve staring at my phone: reading, watching videos, listening to creepypasta narrations. I also enjoy drawing, occasionally writing, and spending too much money on random cute stuff. Pusheen is my downfall. Also Halloween. I work in two offices, so there's twice the cubicle to decorate!
I'm a librarian and I drag off-topic dolls to work 9n a regular basis. My superiors are aware of this and are okay with it as long as the dolls are not distractions. Indeed, some of my younger patrons love it. As for hobbies, I like to take pictures of the sky and collect rocks. Once in a great while i also knit and crochet.
I am a hostess at a restraunt during the day and at night I paint, write novels, and give tarot readings and other magick works for people. As for hobbies, I play dungeons and dragons, go camping and mountain climbing, I knit, and I work on my art.
Right now I’m a college student, jobless. Other hobbies are: drawing, photography, watching boy bands lol, anime and music.
I'm a Librarian by profession (currently a cataloguer, although that branch of Librarianship has effectively been deprofessionalised because "it's just data-entry..." apparently). My hobbies are reading, costuming (basically the same as cosplay unless you listen to the pointless, ongoing-for-years, debate between costumers and cosplayers... {sigh}), gaming (mostly old-school tabletop D&D, board games, occasional but rare LARPing), toy and dollmaking and collecting, and crafts in general. I'm also a science fiction fan (mostly fantasy, rather than hard SF), filker, murder mystery fan, and historical reenactor (although little of that recently due to medical issues). Teddy
I am currently a PhD student majoring in history. I used to work in a museum before and hopefully I can go back to museum work at some point. I don't think I would take my dolls to uni or working environment, just because I am scared that somebody will touch them without my permission or break them accidentally. My hobbies include yoga, penpals & postcrossing, crafts in general (sewing, old furniture DIY projects, jewellery making and so on), photographing, painting, visiting in museums and galleries, hiking, reading, Steam-games, collecting vintage stuff, etc. If I had bigger place with more natural light I would love to grow herbs again. I used to love horseriding before and hoping I could start in again in the future.
I work at a center for adults, teens, and children with special needs. From 8am to 2pm I work with the adults; we do a lot of practicing life skills like hygiene and writing. We also work on job skills, and we do all kind of things for that depending on the person. It can be anything from practicing folding towels a certain way so they can work at the local YMCA, going to job sites and getting to work at places like a bowling alley or a restaurant for about an hour a day, or even inputting books into the computer to sell them on Amazon. From 2pm to about 6pm, I work with a mix of teens and children for our after school program. Very high energy, constantly keeping the kids going until their parents arrive to take them home for the day. We focus on behaviors and using applied behavior analysis. I'm actually thinking about becoming a registered behavior technician and taking the 40 hour certification class so that I can make a little more cash by being certified to work 1 on 1 with our more difficult clients. I'm also going to school, and I haven't decided what I want to do yet-- I'm struggling between becoming a sign language interpreter, a special education teacher, and an educational psychologist. I would never bring my dolls to work, lmao. It's too risky, plus I wouldn't want my coworkers to look at me strangely. I'm still a new doll owner, so I'm not used to the stares As for my other hobbies! I write fanfiction sometimes and I love learning languages. I'm currently at the conversational level in American Sign Language, and I'm learning Korean and Russian. I also want to learn Gregg shorthand writing, just because I think it looks neat. I'm thinking about double minoring in creative writing and Asian studies. I love j-dramas and kpop groups (BTS and blackpink, mostly). I love plants. I think I rambled a little I get excited talking about my job.
I am a former Surgical Technician. But now I work as a Sterile Processing Technician. I have brought my boys to work before. My hobbies include reading and collecting Manga. I also love to collect and listen to vintage vinyl records.
I am selvf-employed with a crafting related webshop (only domestic in DK atm, sorry). On top of that I work as a SEO web text writer. My hobbies..... They are really on the back burner atm, as I am struggling with depression. But I enjoy lettering, drawing, crocheting, knitting, running, kayaking, scrapbooking, bulletjournaling, sewing, reading, writing and my dolls (and probably a lot more).
I’d never in a million years bring my doll to work because I work in an office attached to a warehouse and dust is constantly everywhere and the walls shake. I do logistics coordinating in the door supply industry. Other hobbies are baking/cooking, gaming, cats, and anime.
I went to school for electrical engineering but currently work in supply chain (as a buyer) for a Japanese robotics company here in the States. I work in a cube and (once I get some) could bring my dolls to work. I already have a bunch of figures/toys on my desk so it wouldn't be a problem. Other hobbies include photography, reading, tabletop gaming, paper crafts and crochet.
I'm currently finishing up my last semester of college and I plan on going to get my Master's in Health Administration next fall while also joining the ROTC. Besides collecting BJDs, I also collect Pullip & Taeyang dolls (mostly Taeyang though). I also like hiking and cooking!
Anyone familiar with that old Dunken' Donuts commercial, "Time to make the donuts"? I'm that guy haha. I'm a donut fryer, bread baker, and occasionally muffin mixer at a bakery. I love it. In my off time I play video games, garden and care for my tiny succulent forest, and cook! I also draw, paint, woodwork, make jewlery and crafts in general. I really just love making stuff with my hands.
I'm a full-time in-house Graphic Designer (no freelance) and illustrator. (I have a doll at work with me right now! XD) I draw and paint and other art in my free time (not taken up by BJDs) and attempt to make comics. I'm stuck on a page right now, but I'm trying to get a shortish one done currently. Along with the comic writing I sometime write in general. I've been getting back into figure customizing since I do ok with BJDs, and it is tiny tiny work D: (but less expensive than BJD and they take up less room) I read a lot - books and comics. Lots of comics. And I collect action figures, mostly of the Joker. I don't game enough to consider myself a gamer but I do like to occasionally game! Video, RPG (I am new to this but it's as much fun as I always thought) and other. Also I play with my cat which is sort of another full-time job as he is very needy and demands all of the attention all of the time.
I'm QA Tester of video games. I can't say what I'm currently testing, but it's a pretty nice job if you don't mind playing the same game everyday for a year. I'd love to get into development, art, design, of games- perhaps all of the above in my own tiny indie studio, and have some plans for that in progress, but it's slow. I do a ton of digital art and character design in my free time. Other hobbies are straight up more video games- I play a ton of Risk of Rain 2. And on the tabletop RPG I play DnD on Sundays. I do not have enough time in a day.
I am currently a student as I am finishing my art degree this year. I am interested in photography, especially vintage style photography and darkroom. For my grad project this semester I am attempting wet plate collodion photography. It was the type of photography popular during the civil war. Currently waiting for my chemicals to be delivered but should be here tomorrow so I am pretty excited to start. I also have a diploma in Child and Youth Counseling so I do that as well. So I guess you could say I am a Photographer and a Counselor. I would also like to branch into Graphic Design as I do a lot with that as well, but I am not very confident in my skills XD. For hobbies other than dolls, I read and collect an ungodly amount of books, play video games, draw, watch anime, watch movies especially horror movies, spend time with my kids, and I would really like to try my hand at creative writing and possibly start doing faceups for bjds. I think just like with my art though, I don't feel confident in my skills enough to feel justified in charging people. It's a problem really haha anxiety and all that jazz. Need to build my skills and self-esteem I would say.
What a nice topic I work two jobs- I am in pet care at Petsmart and I am a busser at Olive Garden. Petsmart is great for the obvious reason- I get to pet dogs every shift- and Olive Garden is a fun environment with fun coworkers! I am a HUGE horror fan, both movies, stories, and art. Started with Goosebumps when I was in elementary school and kept going from there. My other hobbies include writing/ journaling, my pets/ petcare (I have my dog Knox, who is my absolute baby and best buddy; my ball python Apollo; and my four Mystery snails- a black named Odin, a golden named Mello, an ivory named Casper, and a blue who is new and doesn't have a name yet....off topic but suggestions are always welcome!). I also love art, but I go through on/ off phases actively drawing. I also play an app game called Love Nikki- it's super addicting and even after two years it has stayed fun. Maybe it's kind of weird for my age, but hey, it makes me happy.
Oh wow talk about similar! I’m an engineering student, anime nerd, and hell will burn over when you get me off my games fiejfkehfkd I study a lot but free time is all fun and games. I don’t see many fellow females in my field of interest but I think I’ve seen some improvement lately. ;0 I work part time at a sports bar. I’m an athlete and figures my choice of work would reflect my interests. Favorite anime of yours? Last year I fell into the Chinese rabbit hole so now I’ve got favorite voice actors across English, Japanese, and Chinese media.
Heylo! I'm a cat mom of 3, I love sew, crochet, I am a burlesque performer, a fire performer (mainly hoops, wands, and fire eating) and my day job is booking special events, both social and corporate ^-^
I'm a courier for a pharmacy and deliver to nursing homes. I'm also in school for linguistics. Tbh I could bring a doll if I really wanted, but I'd be really nervous to leave them in my car or take them into the facilities. For hobbies I cosplay, sew, and do art! I'm a big anime/manga nerd and occasionally play games but I don't have the attention span for anything intense.
I provide API support for programmers and other developers using the APIs my company provides. Sometimes my job is as simple as forwarding an email to another team and other times it's pouring over detailed code to find an error written by someone else! I really like that my role changes a lot and is very challenging at times. I have a lot of other hobbies that I come and go from... I like drawing, playing videogames, baking, and lately sewing as well. I also have a dog and a cat if they can count as a hobby, I really love both of them -- and love spoiling them!
Software Engineer By day A tester for a RPA Project, Has Lots of hobbies Dolls, Watercolor, I also do other handicrafts Crochet planning to try knitting and felting haha
