EDIT: I got a camera! A Panasonic LX10, Its beautifully small (like a normal digital camera) and has macro capability I recommend it for people who want a smaller camera for them closeup shots I need a camera to capture the closeup details in face-ups but I also need it for nature photography since I want to take staged photos (and the occasional moving animal). Price isn't a big issue, I would love recommendations thank you
I mean, if price isn't a big issue...get some mid-range Canon DSLR and the 100mm Macro 2.8 L lens. I use it for nearly everything, it has gorgeous colors and is very sharp. It's not the fastest lens, but unless that animal is running at full speed it's usually still fine. The lens is pretty big though! You can see on Flickr which lens has been used for which picture, and it's nearly always the 100mm: AraDolls My customization stuff is also always taken with it: IN TENTATIONEM I also took general human portraits and nature shots with it as well. I'm using it on a full-frame though, on a crop camera it might be a bit too long for some cases. If you want to see a specific example of something, just let me know.
I question whether you actually need a macro lens. I shoot a full frame Nikon and while I have some specialty lenses my "everything" lens is Nikon's 28 - 300mm zoom. It's my travel lens and I use it for most of my doll photos. I find it great for tight doll portraits. The wide zoom range makes it convenient to take extremem close ups or full length photos with he same lens. Glittering eyes by Tom Beach, on Flickr Outdoorsman by Tom Beach, on Flickr
Nice, if you ever want to upgrade to a DSLR camera so that you can control depth of field and have lens options, entry-level cameras from Canon and Nikon should fit your needs pretty well unless you want to do, say, night or sports photography. The big expense is going to be lenses.
