@FemmmeFatality Rey's wig is a Monique Johnny pale blonde size 4/5. Erica's wig is borrowed from the Integrity Avantguards line of vinyl fashion dolls. I have a handful of theses wigs. All fit on her head but, not all are in scale to me. They will do until I master wig making.
Sno4wy - I can tell you without a doubt, that it is worthwhile for you to make them from scratch. I know a ton of who is out there right now. And there are two people who are making them, only one that is making them right now. One is making them for Dollshe, but won't be getting them out for, and I quote "2-3 months" - and that is if you can get them before they sell out (we all are a big lot of those who have him, not just the BJD people, but the HUGE HUGE fashion doll community). There are clothes from Tonner that you CAN find, but you hvae to put on the superhero ones to be SURE they'd fit. But literally, two people dedicated to it. I've spent probably 6 months searching. And if there isn't anymore info here that someone is making them FOR those dolls (which there isn't ) It is safe to say my list of 'dedicated' people is TWO. Chewin (rather his sister, and she is backed up , and I quote "six to ten weeks, minimum") and the guy that Dollshe hired. And as I said, he is 2-3 months. And taking all that with a grain of salt, at least 4 months until I get anything lol. This is one I'd say you are SUPER safe making the clothes yourself and not be wasting your time. If you have patterns, I'd even buy them from you. *hugs* HOPE that helped!!!! Richie - THANK YOU. Most of my dolls ARE fashion dolls, my only foray into BJD is my DollShe guys. Maybe a Popovy. But all are within the 16" fashion doll arena. I just stumbled upon the men when I wanted more realistic than Ken dolls (I have a pic of Dollshe next to a Tonner man, it's funny...if anyone wants to see it for proportions). That is great info, thank you so so much. I had Chewin make me a few hardcap wigs, so I have two, wigs, then my own - and he is making me another two. But I'm a wig hoarder. I love that the AG ladies can swap. I collect modsdolls, Inamoratas, Popovy, and the rare Sybarite besides, so it'll be interesting to see if they can share the wigs (the females). If they can, they have a billion to choose from. I hate when they can't share lol. Then I have to get a NEW tote out and start fresh. I have a problem making sure they have plenty of wigs. I can make them myself (only mohair), but I...am slow. Again, thank you Richie.
@FemmmeFatality -- Wow, I had no idea that so many non-BJD types of people were into them! :O That's a huge eye-opener, so thanks for the info! I got into BJDs only for BJDs and never had much interest in dolls in general, so I've never investigated beyond BJDs.
We don't have a lot of male counterparts for our ladies. The ladies are made by the dozen it seems. We just had one manufacturer make a man doll and it sold out in 30 seconds, but they were too girly for me. When I found DollChic, it was the first manly doll. THE, when Dollshe came out with these, I was like FINALLY...a man doll. A real one. Up til now, we had plasticy ken looking men, and few at that. But now? woohoo! Though no one has capitalized on this quite fully yet. Just as an FYI - Emilia Couture, of Inamorata (the dolls that are my biggest collection), has done beards for the men. They are so much fun. And she is amazing. You can find her stuff, I believe, on her Flickr.
If the question regarding the fit of MNF clothes on the Dollshe guys is still relevant - no way in hell. I put an uniform jacket made for MNF guys on my Dollshe body and I barely got it over his shoulders, he was not able to move his arms and closing it? No chance without ripping the seams. Worked for a picture but not recommended
I think we'll take any information. Maybe we need to compile this... On a side note, I'd really like to know what size horns you think would work for them. I mean, from already established companies. I see you had a pair of Leeke horns in size small, but I'm hoping maybe we have more options?
I think the biggest issue is how small the head is... however, I am a fantasy parts hoarder with too many horns so if you want I can totally put every single horn in my possession on him xD (mostly Leeke and Soom though).
I am sure everyone complains about this, but I found a pair of 25.00 horns that then required 40.00 in shipping. *sigh* I didn't think it would be this hard to get a pair of ram-type demon horns for my guy.
What eyes do you guys use for these little guys? I don't much like the available 6 mm eyes that I've seen, they all look too fake/plasticky for my tastes.
I've got 8mm by Volks made for their Dollfie Plus line in both my guys. 6mm looked too small and these have lots of white. catch the light nicely. not sure if Volks still makes them. perhaps on ebay or marketplace. not sure what David will wear. he's not coming home any time soon.
I ordered from Glazky - they cost 2 bucks, and you can order them in sizes as big or small as you want, you even get to choose pupil size!
Not pupil size, but iris, which is very handy with these realistic sculpts. A small iris is often needed. I ordered Glazki eyes for everyone and the tracking stopped working after they reached the UK, about two weeks ago. I have got a horrible feeling I am never going to see them. I'll give it another week and get in touch. Hopefully they can claim compensation from their postal service (even though it is clearly ours that ballsed up). Why is eye buying like a recurring nightmare?
Awesome, thanks guys! I was going to drop another 20 bucks on a pair of Masterpiece eyes before their 40% off promotion runs out, but $2 is certainly better than $20! XD
Poulette found that the 7mm Glazkis fit the eye well best. There are some photos in here somewhere, if you have a dig around.
Yeah, I got to order ten sets of eyes and I'll choose from my preference. I ended up getting the 7mm and some medium size and large size pupils. Even able to get popovy sized. (which they have given the exact size in the popovy thread)
Ok, I consider 'pets' accessories, I apologize if this is not allowed, but I'm new to 'sizing' things. Does anyone have BJD animals for their fashion sized peoples? I'm looking at the Eve cat, not sure if 4mm will be too small. Would that seem like kitten size? I am using their handy 'calculator' to see things, but still isn't helping.
I a m not sure I understood the question but I have an Evethecat British Cat and the scale is OK with fashion size Dollshes, IMO. Iplehouse doggies are too big to be the breeds they represent but are too cute to leave out of the fun.
Awesome, hopefully that size will be fine. I would imagine even the 4cm would work and that would make them more of a kitten. You have been very very helpful.
I have been sewing for my guys for ages. I have Classic David and Rey Lewis and have made tailored and period clothes for them but jackets for the fashion boys I find actually more difficult on that scale. My Fashion Rey Lewis and Grant have ballet costumes and here they are in my casual gear on a canal in Amsterdam. I have taken commissions for many years but lately I'm enjoying semi-retirement. I have just ordered Fashion Amanda Beauty and was wondering if there is a thread here for the girls? I am particularly interested in where I can buy shoes to fit. The Fashion boys have fairly large feet. My boys have been lucky on Ebay so far.
Just as an update, sartiorialJ's stuff is up on Dollshe's site, it's a bit hard to find, it's way at the bottom of the drop down. But he had pants, a shirt, and shoes for the guys, and dresses and jewelry for the girls. not a ton, but he's working on more (he's been great at answering my emails). I have ordered and I will let you all know how it looks (with pics!) Busy with my Grant Phillipe, who JUST arrived after MONTHS of waiting. @charon - I just had to order shoes from NigelChia for my female. He made me a OOAK gown, btu their feet are 3cm larger than my other fashion sized dolls. It's nuts. I can't find anything else. Maybe we'll have a thread? someone able to point us in a direction or make a new one?
I have been checking around and I feel that Facets by Marcia should have some shoes that fit. I actually did find a box of my MSD shoes here and also Evangeline Ghastly is about to be shared. Facets by Marcia - Larger Fashion Doll Shoes I expect the usual long Dollshe wait and which shoes will fit. I believe the new Iplehouse Fashion girls have a similar size foot so there should be plenty to choose from. Now for wigs and I do like Monique for my girls. I'm not sure if Amanda is size 4/5 or just 4.
The fashion sized girls from Iplehouse are not actually fashion sized, just - in case someone isn't aware. They are going to be really tall/giant compared to all the other fashion dolls, from the likes of Dollshe and standard ones. Facets by marcia - she is a poster on the fashion doll board I'm on, she is very nice. Which shoes did you think would fit?
About the shoes that fit Dollshe Fashion girls: somebody on the board suggested Tonner American Model, and I must report that it is an excellent fit with a ton of options on ebay. I have three different pairs from different makers, they are maybe 5mm too large but look fantastic on the foot nevertheless. Also, a tiny bit of double tape solves the size problem.
@Katyok, would you happen to have a pictures of the shoe styles which will fit? Or links to the fitting styles? I have about 5 pairs of Tonner America Model shoes and none of them fit the Dollshe Fashion girls. On some of them I can't even get the feet inside. The pairs I got fit really well for the MNF high heel feet but Dollshe girls have different shape of high heel feet.
After a few days of searching ebay for MSD shoes that have 7+ cm inner length (and after getting progressively more desperate), I had an idea. What if we use the GIRL 1/3 boots, like those in the picture, I mean, the more gender-neutral style? The description says the inner length is 7cm. What do you guys think? Picture is clickable. UPD: More footwear I found that looks masculine enough for, say, a historic character, and has inner length of 7cm: low boots ; high boots (if you remove the bow) ; sneakers
I have had those exact boots in mind for my aGatti Guarvo. If you remove the fur trim, they are effectively desert boots. However, each time I am ready to buy, they have sold out. In some listings they have them as inside length of 7.5cm, so there is probably some room in there. The others look a little blobby. With their huge feet, these chaps need something pretty delicate if they are not to look like clowns.
@Katyok I will have to find somewhere to hang pics, but I have about five pair of dress shoes for Rey Lewis. They all fit inside but the outsides vary. I got them all off of ebay, but most of these styles have been discontinued. Some seem to be too big but it could just be that the material used is too voluminous for the size. I'll get on it tonight.
OK..... So apparently I've had a Flickr account since 2008. Who knew???? I started collecting Rey's shoes way back in December, but he didn't arrive until March. All of these styles came off of ebay, but I can't find most of them any more. I searched under 1/4 MSD shoes and did the link to link dance to find other possibilities once I chose a pair that I liked. I've had these for a while but I still check periodically to see if there any new styles in this size. That's how I found the Oxfords. I even wrote the maker to see if they would make those 1/3d size animal print shoes in our size but they said no. I would have bought every color! Sizes are to the best of my memory. Black Dress Shoes- 7cm inner,suited-up or formal, perfect fit and they're my faves! Black Patent Leather-7cm inner, really good fit, got 'em in white also. Brown Oxfords-6.8cm inner, pre-bought for Arsene but fit Rey perfectly as you can see, got 'em in black as well, still available on Ebay. Black Boots-7.5 inner, ample room, but the style works really well on Rey. Brown Boots. 7.5 inner, I think Rey is swimming in these, but they seem to fit on nice enough, would probably be perfect fit for aGatti men. wiz91us
Here are the three pairs I got off ebay (pix clickable): My fave so far, comes in tons of colors and textures. Fits really well, very stable. Comes in great many colors, a bit wobbly in the heel. A bit large, but with a tiny piece of double tape on the heel it's perfect. Very stable. Also comes in many different textures.
@Katyok thank you so much for the pictures! They look great! So it's just as I figures that the open toe shoes fits well and closed toe doesn't. As all of the ones I have are closed models and none fit on them. I just made my first shoe order and got those golden ones and those last lacey ones just in different colour. Must order more later as there really is plenty to choose from.
I'm starting my long wait for a Saint and Bernard Mystic body fashion dollshes and thought you might all appreciate some of the research I did. For now, I just got the measurements to compare. Here is 28M Fashion: 28M FASHION POSE Body Size & Measurements Head circumference 133mm Neck girth 82 mm Chest 233 mm Waist 166 mm Hips 205 mm Upper leg girth 132 mm Lower leg girth 95 mm Upper arm girth 72 mm Lower arm girth 66 mm Wrist girth 44 mm Ankle girth 56 mm Height 440 mm Shoulder width 107 mm Arm length 132 mm Leg length 227 mm Back length 107 mm Hand length 47 mm Foot length 66 mm Foot width 23 mm Pubic bone to tip of foot length 265 mm Wig size 5in-5.5in Eye 6mm, 8 mm And 18M Mystic body fashion: 18M FASHION MYSTIC BODY Size & Measurements Head circumference 5.5 in –6 in Neck girth 8 cm Chest 20.6 cm Waist 16.5 cm Hips 19.7 cm Upper leg girth 10.5 cm Lower leg girth 8 cm Upper arm girth 8 cm Lower arm girth 5.5 cm Wrist girth 4 cm Ankle girth 5 cm Height 44 cm Shoulder width 10.7 cm Arm length 14.5 cm Leg length 23 cm Back length 11.5 cm Hand length 4.5 cm Foot length 6.5 cm Foot width 2.4 cm Pubic bone to tip of foot length 27 cm Eyes 10 mm And someone mentioned Model Delf...so I looked up these measurements and found them a little shorter than dolshe, but here they are: Model Delf BOY SIZE DATA Height : 45cm (head included) 1cm = 0.393inch Girth of head 17.4 cm Girth of chest 21 cm Girth of hips 20.2 cm Width of shoulders 11 cm Length of arm parts (shoulder - wrist) 14.2 cm Length of forearm part (elbow - wrist) 7.6 cm Length of back 9.2 cm Length of thigh part (hip - knee) 11.2 cm Length of calf part (knee - ankle) 11.6 cm Girth of ankle 5.7 cm Foot 5.3 cm If anyone knows measurements of Tonner boys, I'd like to see them...since I don't know where to find them as I'm not in the fashion doll hobby, just bjd. Also, can anyone think of more measurements to look up?
He can, but he'll be ready for the flood the pants have to be pulled so high XD. Even then there is a hint of butt and he will lean back some but it's not too bad.
No, Vito-sized would be huge. I have some for my aGatti and they are nowhere near the same size. What are the other options? ETA: I just had a look. From my table of measurements, JID boy is likely the closest of what there is.
I know there's discussion in this thread about shoes that fit, but has anybody sourced any reliable boots that look good (ie not clown-like)? I'm looking for black boots for my guy, that look like they're for walking, not fashion, and aren't blobby. Any I find with correct interior measurements have an exterior I can tell will just look awful when I put it on a 44cm doll. I am probably going to have to venture into boot-making myself, I realise, to provide boots for my most awkward dolls. That doesn't appeal to me much though, so if anybody has found a reliable alternative, I'd love to know!
SartoriaJ make shoes for the Fashion boys. No black boots, though, just brown suede ankle boots and black Oxfords. They might make you the boots in black if you ask. Worth a shot. Handmade Victorian dress for ball jointed dolls by SartoriaJ
Haha I genuinely forgot that asking was a possibility! Thanks @MadamMauMau ! I don't think SartoriaJ really has the style I'm looking for mind you, oxfords aren't hiking/tough terrain style things. Plus I forgot to mention that one of my conditions is that it has to be imitation/artificial and not real leather. I think I'd overlooked SartoriaJ previously because the materials aren't listed on the etsy page (and I've been stung by gambling on no info before). I'm going to have to make some myself aren't I...
Hi all, Has anyone tried Iplehouse JID and/or FID clothing on their Dollshe boys? Also, is there a thread for what fits the fashion sized dolllshe girls? Thanks!
FID would be waaayyyy too big. I wish they would fit though because the clothes Iple makes for them are so nice T_T but they're almost 50cm and the Dollshe boys are 43/44cm? JID things should work. I've seen an Arsene in that JID gray athletic outfit they had for JID and it's a bit oversized for him but perhaps would look better on the 28M. My handsome fashion Arsene - DollShe craft
So far only a thread exists for the Classic size Dollshe girls. If you start a thread, I will post some pics of clothes I have made for my Amanda just for fun. I have a lot of fun taking photos of Amanda and she looks real good when her clothes fit. I have fitted the big bust on my doll which makes fitting her a challenge. I would love to see other people's girls wearing fashions too!
one of my 2nd hand 28m came w iple jid tank and pants. they fit but proportion a little bit off for realism imo.
The brown and white is the bull terrier and the black and white is a Boston terrier. They are both lovely.
I know this is about clothes, but is there a thread mentioning alternative heads? Or does anyone know what other heads can fit the male?
I was wondering what eye size people use? I feel like the general rule is to go down a size from what makers tell you for a more realistic look
For a long time, I gave up on finding my Grant an outfit that I really liked. So, he sat half-naked for two years, until I recently happened upon this Volks outfit. I loved it, and even though I was prepared for it to end up going to one of my other dolls and my search to continue... it fits. Not the same way as it does on the model, of course, and the pants only just "fit", but I like the end result. I'll probably add a cape and maybe a shoulder guard to it, but I'm very happy with it as a base outfit. Now, if only, I could find proper boots, I'd be thrilled. I have a feeling that I'm going to have to get crafty...
