On my tinies I like pastels and earth tones. On my MSDs I try to go for brights and jewel tones. Rich blues, purples and pinks. For my one large fellow, he looks best in pure white or black.
Over a span of five years, my dollies' wardrobe is pretty colorful, but many of the colors I tend to use are black, white, and pink.
I tend to buy mostly reds but sometimes black..the colors most likely to stain horribly it's honestly a miracle that I have yet to have to deal with bad staining
For one of my girls she stays in the yellows and purples, while my MSD girl wears whatever colors she pleases
I said I wouldn't do it but....BLACK lol My Ring Doll Jack The Ripper thinks he is Bill Kaulitz from Tokyo Hotel (younger version with the awesome hair) So he wears black leather and punk clothes. The rest of my dolls are in darker clothing as well because of the place and time they live in but they like to switch it up from time to time and a girl sometimes has to wear pink!
Blacks and whites usually unless the character demands something else but truthfully my own preference takes presidence!
my wardrobes are as black as my soul... at least right now. when i get the shells for Seras, Andreas, Iris and Jack they will be alot more colorful but as far as Echo, (soon to be) Mercy and Eric its going to be mostly black. i will say Eric will occasionally break that trend with plad and band shirts.
I always seem to go for darker clothes because I like the gothy look. However, I like pastels for a lot of my dolls too. But my tiny Sophie (a lati white sp) gets to wear all the colors. She is in tan, and I think she looks great in all colors!
My dolls have favourites. Kurumi likes black and dark blue, basically only wear those. Hyo Shin loves red, but would wear most warm colors. Elide is all about baby pink. Rowena is supposed to be a gothy vampire in all black with red accents, corsets and laces but I still need to find her the right clothes. When they don't have a preference I just get a bit of everything.
Ivory, white and beige are my three most liked colors of clothes that I’d like to buy for my dolls as all my dolls are girls XDDD These colors will not going to stain but just hard to wash out once get dirt.
It really depends on the doll for me! For example, Alice wears blue, Ellie wears darker blues, Darcy wears a lot of yellow, Helena wears browns and reds, etc. But for the most part, with the exception of Helena and Dahlia, my girls stick to more pastel shades.
I tend to buy black, red, grey, yellow and beige. However for my incoming Aooni boy, I go for brighter colors that seem to be from the 80s.
I've recently started sewing for my dolls so I use old clothing of mine from when I was a kid... But when I buy, I love the Mori Style clothing which is usually in the grey/brown/tan/cream range.. Plus floral prints, not bright ones but creamy colors, light and pale whites, pinks and blues.. I do love stars so I tend to buy clothing with star prints too... But my most favorite color to buy is grey...
I’d like something in a deep green or blue, but I haven’t seen anything I adored in those colors yet.
It depends on the doll. My gray Resinsoul, I knew she would like frilly things in soft colors. The other Resinsoul, she's a punk so she'll be going for black, mostly.
pastels usually but thats just me. my characters themselves would probably stick to greys or black and probably some more vibrant colors.
I have some preferences (like pastel colors) but honestly none of my dolls have the same style... I got a goth obvisouly wearing black, a ginger with a mori style in yellow and pale hues, an explorer wearing kaki and brown, a fashion gal wearing blue jeans, a romantic in grey and white, a pastel goth in pink and purple... I love all colors !
Much like my own wardrobe, most of my dolls' clothing and accessories are black and purple. ...I should probably branch out more haha
I think I have more pastel/ lighter color, I actually really love dark colored clothing but i always panicked if any of my dolls get stained.
Light colors mainly depending on the character. I would buy more dark clothes for all my boys but the one time I put black pants on one of them he got so dirty that cleaning him was a hassle. He managed to get stained everywhere including in his joints from bending which luckily did clean off, but now it's only white clothes for him.
black and white are so reliable. but i also like pastels, earthy colors and neutral tones ... as long as the clothes' design isn't too busy (i favor simple and minimalist looks with a few patterns sprinkled in) then i'm open to a lot of options other than bright neons and bright primary colors!
Definitely the color blue! And overall I like muted colors for their clothing, nothing flashy or bright.
I buy my dolls a lot of black clothes, but recently I've been drawn to neon colors. I recently got a black and lime cat hoodie for my island doll Apollo....he's still without a name.
Black and white are easy to find, but recently I'm trying to branch out into earthier colors. I feel like more toned-down colors look less like "toy" clothing, especially if the fabric has a nice in-scale texture as well.
I tend to want to buy black a lot, because it looks awesome on dolls...that happens with white clothes, too . But black always wins !!
At the beginning I bought a variety of clothing colors. Recently, my doll clothes have been all black or mostly black.
They have default white. I do dress them in other colors but worry about color transfer and not noticing in time to do something about it.
I have certain colors assigned to my characters, usually in pairs of colors, but they are usually saturated tones because that's what I also like for myself. I also keep a fair amount of neutral colors (black/white) to combine.
I think my dolls wear mostly dark and saturated (bright) colors, seldom pastels, seldom blue. It depends on characters but I don't like most blue or pastels which is why they don't appear often for anyone.
I had an idea what colours my characters would have but seems life made it's corrections. Eve wears mostly red, some blue, Adam green, blue, grey. I up-cycle my and husband's old clothes so I really just have to look in our own wardrobes to see what the dolls will have next.
Most of my dolls wear white, black, grey and beige. But my cyberpunk boys have a different colour scheme - they wear vivid colours like yellow, red or green, neon and metallic, and shiny fabrics.
Light, warm-toned pink and cream white are my favorite colors for doll stuff. I am honestly a little scared of darker clothing, even though I know it isn't that big of a deal if it ever stains. I do have a dark brown coat I really like, but I only use it for photos.
I usually buy black clothes for all of my dolls, my boy dolls have red clothes as well, and the yosd and tiny sized girls have a lot of colorful and pastel colored clothes. So, they wear a lot of colors, but everyone has their own style.
I like the same kind of colors that I wear, so lots of jewel tones and a nice, neutral black. My vinyl girls have me branching out into more pastel colors, too, though, as I prefer their look and feel without stain suits.
It depends heavily on the doll, as each of my dolls has their own color motif. Light neutrals and whites are always welcome, followed by mid-tone and dark neutrals. I'm drawn to a lot of jewel tones for my resin crew, but tend to air lighter and more pastel for my vinyl ones. My most common proper colors are ruby/burgundy for my resins and pink for my vinyls.
i generally love/gravitate towards earth tones or pastel tones :3 im excited to make my own too. i found some really pretty spring fabric in the pillow case area recently of my local thrift store!!
In terms of buying outfits, the ones I buy tend to be things that are beyond my skill level or that I don't enjoy sewing, like modern tailored outfits. Most of the outfits I buy are in dark or muted colours, e.g. suits for the "suit and tie job" type characters. In terms of sewing, it's still mostly dark or muted colours. I use recycled fabric from old human clothes and bedlinen, which is worn and faded if it's served its original purpose, but has nice drape and wear and tear for doll clothes. Most of my doll characters are on the "lower rungs" of society regardless of what kind of story they're in, so it makes sense for them to have more faded, worn clothes. I do have some ideas for characters who wear brighter, more vibrant clothes, but the closest I have for one of those is a floating head whose body is on order, and I prefer to have bodies on hand before making any purchases or sewing any new outfits.
Short answer: I buy whatever colours best suit the doll. Long answer: My blonde girl Cori with tan resin simply favours white and light neutrals with the possibility of warm pastel colours in the future. I've found that certain medium to dark tones either washes her out or makes her look too severe. I try to style up some of those pieces in order to salvage them. Goth girl Amara on the other hand, dresses almost exclusively in black and dark jewel tones. It's more that just her personal style, it's her brand and uniform.
I trend toward darker or neutral colors for my dolls, save one, who I have inexplicably deemed has to be pink. I do worry about staining with my color preferences though, so I check on them once in a while to make sure their costume hasn't stained them.
My dolls often wear clothes made from scraps of fabric I used for my clothes or from my old clothes So we share a palette of mauve, sage, blues, and white. But my bought clothes for them tend to be beige or shade of blue denim. And my Fairyland fullsets are blue, pink, purple, and black. I like cool tones, beige, and white. Soft and summery. Though I’m going to make more autumn colored clothes for one of my characters, and add more black and dark tones for another.
I’ve never met a color…nope, not a single one…that someone in my expansive crew didn’t absolutely love.
This is very dependent on which doll I'm dressing, tbh. Each of them have separate color palettes, so some of my girls gravitate toward whites and pastels, while others go earth-tones or darker clothing. I'm a bit all over, but I am admittedly a sucker for white dresses.
