What colors do you tend to buy in doll clothing?

Jan 6, 2017

    1. When my next doll (Fairyline Lucywen) comes in, I will choose whites and pastel clothing! Specifically baby blues :)

    2. I really like whites and pastels too!! Right now I only have two dolls that are dressed (rest getting face ups etc) in my small collection, and they are both wearing pink clothes.

    3. Pastels are my favorite colors! I also like various shades of brown/tan because of their versatility. Most of what I like are summer clothes <3

    4. LOL, the theme of my dolls are their colors, one color to each doll: red, blue, yellow, white, gray, black, brown and rainbow.

    5. lol my I bought a mint dress yet for my girl thats yet to come! I'm even buying her a little doll and she has a mint dress on aswell, and I got her a mint wig! I guess my favorite color is showing

    6. I would like to have more black colored fashion. But I'm a bit scared to leave the clothing on, because of the possibility of stains.
I also like brown, blue and red in my doll's fashion.

    7. You can buy little undergarments to save your dolls, kind of like a scuba suit! or even make some!

    8. I usually go for colors I wear most often: black, white, grey. But I'm always open to other colors if the clothing is cute :3nodding:

    9. I would love to give my dolls different coloured clothes but for some reason I keep ordering things in blacks and greys.

    10. Sounds like a good idea. I'll try this one. Thank you :)

    11. Monochrome hehe, blacks and whites~ ^u^

    12. Mostly black and white. I also love light grey, pink, light blue, browns, purple and burgundy red, but it not easy to find it in the right shade of color and for certain characters the color has to be exactly that shade of color. Even white can be a problem, because it is often mixed with other colors or gold or silver. I'm still looking for the perfect snowwhite dress for my Iplehouse EID Doria.

    13. Whites, pastels and anything pale. Partly because I prefer to wear black or dark colours and want to see something different and happier; and partly because I'm scared of staining.

    14. All of my dolls' clothes are usually black or blue or red but when it comes to gowns, they're white. ^_^

    15. for girl dolls I love to buy pastel if I can find some at the right price , if not regular white, black , etc

for boy dolls I love dark colors , black , dark grey , dark blue :)

    16. dark colors :) that's his personality

    17. Depends on the character I'm shelling the doll into. I normally go with what fits personality wise.

    18. Blaaaaaaack.

No, seriously, but I tend to go for muted colors (brown, beige, khaki) or black and white by default.
I only have very few "colorful" pieces, and they are usually combined with one of the above colors :sweat
At least black is easy to get.

    19. for me, of course the character im making for the doll would have a say in the colours i pick, but for the most part im not all that interested in a lot of bright, light colours, and tend to gravitate towards neutral, earthy or muted colours :- )

    20. Purple. Purple, purple, purple, more purple, a variation on a purple, some different purples, and hey, maybe some purple.

Also a lot of gray, black, and white (because they all go with purple), and emerald greens.

      Oh, yeah! I nearly forgot--purple!!

    21. It really depends on the doll and their character, but I find myself buying a lot of black and earthy tones for my boys, lots of mint, pink, brown and peach for SD girls and lots of pastels for MSD girls. I don't buy much for my yoSD and tiny girls, but what I make tends to be bright colors.

    22. I've bought a lot of pink things for my dolls, despite the fact that I think pink is overused in the doll world. Pink contrasts nicely with my green Bobobie's resin while playing up her girly personality, and it'll look nice for the Minifee girls I'll soon have.

At the opposite end of the spectrum is my favorite color, green. I do have a few things for my dolls that are green, but not nearly as many things as I'd like. It's surprisingly fairly difficult to find green things for my dolls, so I usually resort to making them.

    23. I lean towards black most times, but have been getting out of that notion when I got my HID. I'm too lazy to sew small scale so I bought what Iplehouse had a available that I liked!! I'll continue with black but color isn't out of the question especially when my Merlin from Ringdoll comes... he definitely is not a "black" clothing guy. Now with my other 2 guys coming, another HID & a Titan we will see, though I'm not sure...

    24. Wow! It's great that everyone's dolls have their own distinct tastes :)

    25. Well I haven't bought much, as in the past I spent all my money on dolls not clothing... and now I'll be making most of the clothing.xD However I don't think I have a set colour group? I have fabric and designs in almost any colour and style that I want to work with! My fabric bin is a rainbow of colour and styles! I can't wait to get a doll so I can start... :')

    26. I think it depends on the character of the doll, but since I have an SD boy in tan skin, I tend to lean towards black or white as I think they suit his skin tone..

    27. Black, it contrasts nicely with her pale skin. However my favourite colour is cerise pink so I'm currently looking for some clothes that colour.

    28. To quote James Taylor, "The colors I choose are deep greens and blues..."

    29. Olives and other muted greens seem to be my go-to whenever they're an option, otherwise I usually default to neutral shades such as brown, white, and beige. Once I build a sizable wardrobe for my dolls, I think I'll feel confident enough to branch out and go for more adventurous colors. ♥

    30. I'd like to try and find earthy toned outfits.

    31. I am not very experienced with resin, but I have read in several places that dark colors can stain the resin. I prefer pastels anyway though so just naturally stay away from darker colors.

    32. Pastel pink and pastel blue clothes got me every single time. They are just adorable!
Even though my dolls have their own colour scheme, I usually just go for my favourite colours anyway.

    33. Black, grey and crimson dominate my doll wardrobe. It was not until I started collecting Dollheart Fer dresses that my color palate started to branch out.

    34. The color of clothing I like definitely depends on the character!

I like white/cream/some pastel for Rhea, and for Rowan, well I'm not too sure yet!

I do really like earthy tones though!

    35. I've been buying lots of blacks and greys for two of my dolls, since that's their general theme, with som sequins and glitter thrown in xD But now I've always been buy white, creams, coppers and gold for my new boy, whose head actually came in today <3

    36. I prefer lighter colors for my dolls, especially pastels. x3 I just favor those colors naturally, and so I like seeing them on my dolls, and also, there's the added bonus of those colors not really causing any staining on the resin either, so I can keep them in their clothing. ^.^

    37. I feel like this answer is reflecting the fact, I don't have a favorite color.
I have clothes for my dolls in a variety of colors. I don't think too much about it, when I buy for them. I do, probably, have more black clothes, simply for the fact, that it's much easier to find. :whee:

    38. In my normal chaotic fashion, none of my dolls have a color scheme, so they have clothes in all the colors of the rainbow and then some.

    39. When I shop for doll clothes, I tend to like the ones that are either black or a off white/ cream colour.

    40. I don't look at color first. I tend to look at design of the clothes first and then see what color options there are to decide from them. I have passed on items if I don't like the colors offered in the design I'm interested in. I tend to swing to more neutrals and jewel tones the most.

    41. My girl likes pink and black mostly so l try to get clothing in these colors.

    42. Same here--and, because of that, I've noticed I'm trending toward black and gray a lot. Or denim. Lots of neutrals. I keep thinking, 'Nooo, I like that shirt, but I already have a black/gray/white/insert-other-neutral-here shirt.' I know my guy (soon to be guys) won't care. . . but I do :/

    43. For me it would be easier to ask what color I don't use lol. I pretty much use all the colors. I find a lot of mixed colors and patterns with clothes look really cute and I do shop the fabric samples area for that. I've been craving a rainbow hair actually. The only color I don't use a lot of would be purple.

    44. I love green and white/off-white for girls. My boys get blues and greys.

    45. I can't really speak to doll clothing, but I do buy fabric for my dolls. They seem to each have a type of color that they generally wear:

Pip: Pip wears dark colors and jewel tones mostly, although for her, my main concern is that the clothing be pretty casual. She's the only doll I have with clothes I have not sewn.

      Orpheus:
She wears more muted colors and fabrics that are more commonly available (denim, cotton flowersack, wool). Her colors seem to be red-orange/coral and blue, but she has a rainbow of other muted tones.

Eurydice: Her color is black, as well as earth tones (closer to brown than Orpheus), but she is made to wear both magenta and red (together) because they clash horribly with each other and her hair, which is a way to illustrate the divide between herself and her (adoptive) culture. She wears a lot of leather (biker).

      Kore:
Her color is white. She wears very lightweight fabrics (laces and chiffon, mostly silk).

Dollshe Arsene (not even a placeholder name yet): Her colors are silver, grey and black. Her clothing is very futuristic.

Hermes: He wears mostly white, heavier fabrics, with some transparent/clear accents. His clothing feels much heavier and more substantial than Kore's.

      Hades:
He wears jewel tones of really luxurious fabrics (velvet, brocade, etc), with so many patterns and colors that it gets tacky. Right now, his main colors seem to be red, gold, and purple.

Impldoll Nicholas (also not even a placeholder name): He wears pastels and his style is very preppy. His colors seem to be chartreuse, because I hate the color and I am trying to get myself to like it, pale pink, and yellow.

I have some other dolls, but they don't really have defined styles yet.

    46. It depends on eyecolour for me. As most of my dolls are anime characters, they tend to follow pretty set themes as far as colour schemes go; drapery matching the windows, if you will.
For my offtopic girl, lots of teal. She has beautiful, unique eyes that look like the sea, so I incorporate a lot of different shades of blue and blue-green into her wear. She looks good in white too, and lighter pastels due to her darker skin colour. She wears a lot of 'street clothes,' and tops that expose her shoulders.
For my other offtopic girl, colours aren't determined yet (since I don't have her) but she'll wear a lot of dark colours and dainty, elegant clothing. Probably lots of classical Lolita outfits; like, actual Lolita, and not short-skirted low-busted lace monsters that I see on dolls a lot.
For Super Sonico, she wears... mostly loose kimonos, chest-window white tops, and anything that is white because I'm completely terrified of her getting stained. Lots of white lingerie.

    47. I mostly dress in black clothes, so I ended up reflecting this on my dolls. My last one will be a bit more colourful though. And I like pastel goth and lolita, too, so I may get some pastel clothes in the future.

    48. I tend to dress them in pastels and colors I don't typically wear. Mainly because it makes them look so adorable, but also because I don't look good in lighter colors, and wish I could pull them off! :aheartbea

    49. I end up buying a little of everything. However, I do gravitate towards pastel colors for most things. I do have one Red and White Polka-dot dress for my 1/3rd doll that I got from Ring Doll at a doll show. It is lovely and one of my favorite outfits.

    50. Black is my favorite color, so most of the clothes for my dolls are back. Sometimes there's purle or pink as little details on it, but mostly black

    51. For white skin dolls NEVER white clothes. That was my first big mistake when I got my first doll. A pure white doll with a white sweatshirt. My brain hurts thinking about it. All my tan dolls seem to have mostly white clothes. White skinned dolls mostly pastels, pink skinned dolls have a lot of black clothes. I wish I would have found this thread before I got clothes for my first doll. :)

    52. I'm all over the place with colors. I love pastels, but then again, I also like older, vintage looking outfits which tend to be more muted, darker colors.

    53. For now, it's mostly whites, blues and reds ! (*´▽`*) They're the colors that I associate the most with my characters, so it's not really that surprising ✩

    54. Black, gray and maybe some white. Every time look for clothes I´m just going to these colors. But it´s the same with me, almost all my clothes are black!

    55. Mainly dark colors for all of my dolls

    56. I want my dolls to have a variety of colors in their wardrobe so now I try to buy colors out of my safety zone(orange, green, hot pink, lime green).

    57. That depends on the character and the colors they prefer. Schemes vary wildly from character to character.

    58. My favourite color is gray, so my dolls have a lot of gray outfits.

    59. One of my girls veers towards purple and reds, while another likes greens. One of my boys likes bright colors (even if he can't see them), while my dancer likes blues and greens that remind him of the sea and oceans.

    60. I like pretty much all colors but I do tend to stay away from dark colors because of the staining. Most of my dolls wear "regular" clothes but I do finally have my "kawaii" girl so she will always be in pastels.
