Shopping What are your opinions on Volks wigs?

May 25, 2024

?
    1. Volks wigs are abit on the pricey side (for me, at least) yet I want to play it safe since the aesthetic is what I’m looking for and I haven’t heard of any complaints from Volks wigs.
I would like to ask if anybody does have Volks wigs, are they nice quality? Do you think they are worth their price? If you have complaints, what are they? Please let me know :)

    2. I haven't bought a new one in several years and I have a mixed opinion. I do like them, specifically I liked the short styles. (I've had a longer wig from them I thought was not very good). For me they are not worth the price at all. Few sewn weft fiber wigs could be worth that much for me. I feel volks wigs would be fair at about $25. I would begrudgingly buy one if they were the only place on earth offering an extremely specific style I wanted and that's about it for me unfortunately.

    3. I never liked them much, even before I stopped buying sewn faux fiber wigs. Too glossy, too fine (but not in a good way). To be fair that was years ago, no clue if they got better by now. But I still feel for the price you could buy a lot of other wigs of equal or better quality from other makers. Unless the style/color is absolutely nowhere else to be found, I'd probably shop around on Taobao first.

    4. Some of them are ok, a lot of them are literal garbage. I like a couple ones I’ve bought but then a couple other ones felt super cruddy. You just have to guess with the listing photos.

    5. Never really liked them and I generally love Volks products. I don't like the selection on their site either. For the price they command, I've bought 2-3 times the number of wigs in way more varieties, colors and styles.

Some of the wigs that come with their LE dolls are lovely... but I'm not buying a whole doll for a wig

    6. I have good luck with them, but I also have not had good luck with wigs from Etsy shops in the same price range, including some that have damaged faceups. I also prefer soft cap to hard cap wigs and I think they hold up well to regular play and restyling.

    7. I have a few volks wigs that I really love. But I guess it really depends on which one you pick as I have heard before some are not good :3nodding: mine come from fcs and full sets, maybe that makes a difference. I don't find them especially more fantastic than most other wigs in my collection, but I'm quite happy with them. Maybe you can share specific ones you have your eye on and someone who has owned it can tell you

    8. The fibers are too shiny for me. I have 3 and use none of them. I didn't even take my last fullset one out of the package.

    9. I have only 1, which I got in my Dream Choice order. So it might be different from the ones sold in the store.

I personally would never, ever buy another, especially at the price they're asking. Personally I consider mine to be poor quality, but it's at least nice enough quality that I still use it. And I'm comparing it to $5-$10 taobao wigs, so my standards are pretty low.

My biggest issue is that the fibers are really coarse and unpleasant. And as you can see in the picture, this short style has a ton of tiny unsightly stray hairs towards the top of the head.

    10. So far I've only had two wigs (short hair) from Volks, both came as part of a fullset. I don't know if I just had bad luck but the quality wasn't good. Both wigs had so little hair that you could easily see the mesh underneath. They were my first dolls so I thought that maybe this was normal but since then no other wig that I've bought looked like this.

    11. It's a hit or miss. I've many of them (Both directly from volks and secondhand) And while I use the one that work well quite often, there's plenty of them that's not to my liking and cause me buyer regret :doh

I'm not going to vote here. I love the one that I'm using too much to say they are not for me. And I hate the feeling of buyer regret when it turn out to be the one with bad quality and weird style to the point that I can't say I love volks wigs too

    12. I recently bought a Chou Tails (W-1033D) wig from volks secondhand. It was REALLY hard to get on my SD's head that I triple checked that I had even gotten the right size. I finally used velcro dots and got it on. I would say from my experience alone that it's one of the good ones, very cute and required minimal styling efforts besides the trouble of squeezing it on.
