Thanks for the hard work, mods! It's good to see the forum back (though I admit I kept poking into Brigadoon anyway, as did plenty of other people, from what I could see).

Now to figure out how to work it again...

 

as with every change, it does take a bit of time to get used to it. But I am really liking the look of the forum thus far. The "alerts" option is gonna be useful.

I'm gonna be playing about a bit if you don't mind...

 

It's so nice to be back here! I forgot all about the move until I clicked onto DoA the other day and most everything was in the process of being moved.

Hello again everyone! It's been a long couple of days without my go-to area for my dolly fix (and my habit of cruising the marketplace though I have no money to spend). I'm really liking the new layout so far, it's a welcome update in my opinion.

 

Oh my goodness! I've missed you DoA, moderators, and members!

Thank you so much to all of the DoA moderators (St. James, Desarii...) and whoever else that worked so hard to update and bring DoA back! I really appreciate the work you do.

The layout looks nice and the new changes are exciting!

It was my dad's 70th birthday this past weekend and there was a lot of celebrating. Somehow I did manage to squeeze in some Halloween craft time and brainstorming on my bjd projects. Otherwise, I might have gone stir crazy missing DoA. Oh good heavens...am I addicted to this site?!

Yes, it's kicked me out every time I go to the home page from another part of the site.

 

@kaien You're not the only one having trouble staying logged in. I am as well. But it's not fully up and running yet so it'll hopefully be fixed once it's all done.

Really nice to see it back, but it'll take me a while to get used to it. It's a little 'spread out' to me. When you have a large monitor for work, you kind of notice it when a site suddenly appears to be shouting at you lol.

I'm a little gutted that the last page of one of the threads has disappeared as there were some nice comments I had wanted to reply to, but ce la vie, I'm sure they'll repost in time. I've already been playing about with settings in readiness, can't wait to get started again

it's still long for me ><... I need to update a meet up thread but it's not ready yet... and the meet is for the 18th

 

I'm loving the new layout too, it feels modern and up to date! I wish I could change my icon without having to ruin the quality, I'm a little bummed that the size limit is 39kb for a 200x200 image :<

 

I've already updated mine and didn't have any problem with it (it's saved using the same defaults I save on all my photos).

 

oh wow... new way to quote... awkward... anywho... they said the new icon images here were 'bigger' didn't they... I just don't know how to re-size my originals on my comp to re-upload O_o yes I am that much of a pc n00b with some things ><. and working with files is my overall nemesis. ... that and spelling (thank god for red squiggly lines under words LOL)

 

WHOA and there's a multi-quote option too! I heard they were bigger, and the mods asked us to resize our icons. I'm using a drawing I did, and I'm surprised that the file size is huge for an image that contains minimal color. I'll keep this one until the size limit changes, or if I can find something that meets the size ><

 

Oh goodness, interesting new notification for being quoted, too... (I'm still trying to figure out how to tell if I've replied to a thread already, though.) EDIT: and the new mention system is pretty nice too!

@mionnaise, what program are you using? I might be able to help you with getting your image sorted.

 

@vicemage I'm using Photoshop CS6! I even saved my stuff as .jpeg, much to my dismay, and it still didn't lower the file size for me :/.

 

I'm in the minority who don't prefer the new layout. But I do appreciate all the hard work that goes into keeping DoA supported, up-to-date, and active. So thank you Mods, Crew, and everyone who contributed to make this move possible! All-nighters are never fun. Your dedication is very honorable.

It's great to be posting again. Longest weekend indeed! The nice thing about Brigadoon is seeing all the new and unknown names you don't always run into otherwise, mixed with the familiars. Such nice diversity.

 

@mionnaise, are you using just a save as option, or the save to web option? (the one I'm using is Save to Web exported at 60 quality and is 23.8 kb; you can visually tweak your quality in there to strike the balance between file size and quality pretty easily.)

@Dezarii Thank you so much! That's a much better size limit, because ideally it would be difficult to save an image with the previous setting unless it's super .jpeg-y ahaha.

@vicemage @Dezarii fixed it now, so there shouldn't be any problems ^^

 

Hoooo boy this is gonna take getting used to. I always have problems visually processing the currently fashionable look of big open spaces between text, and super thin outlines on everything. It's a very floaty, hard-to-track effect. Time to start figuring out what Customizations I can make to get this to work.
Still if years of Mac OS updates have taught me anything it's that I can at least get used to any format eventually.

 

lol I'm with you on this one... and my eyes have been going through changes as it is anyhow... I did find the darker grey for the text boxes helped? And I don't adjust to change very fast either ><... I should get the hang of this right about 10 minutes before they update/change again lol

 

Yeah, the grey text boxes break up some of the floating white space. I love that we have these custom options now! The Mods are getting so much done so fast! Being able to adjust things so they work for me is definitely helpful.

 

On some threads it says "You have insufficient privileges to reply here" ??

Welcome back, DoA. I really missed lurking about over the past weekend. I am still poking around the settings, and getting used to things, but I like the look so far, and I appreciate the hard work and all-nighters (man, I am too old for that...) that the admins, mods and other staff did to perform such a huge undertaking. I look forward to seeing everything fully up and running.

 

Okay, having some withdrawals here. I'll have to go clean my desk or something. Pinterest or Facebook maybe

 

I wonder when we will be able to access/post-to the other threads?

 

Came to explore the new site. It'll take some getting used to but I've been here since 2009 so I've seen DoA change a lot over the years this is just the biggest change so far. Thanks for all your hard work Mods! I look forward to further exploring when the sight is fully open again. I tried changing my background colors then realized after 6 years I'm waaayyyyy too used to dark blue and feathers to change it .

I'm dying to update some threads, but I'll wait patiently whilst they sort everything out. Been reading old project threads to fill the void for now. They've actually given me some new ideas to try out.

Wow! This looks amazing!! Thank you! And I don't know if this is a new feature or i'm just horrible about these things but I love that I can change my background to the light blue with the white feathers It's really the little things that make a huge difference.

I changed my text background to pale grey. Is there an option to change all of the white the same color?
