Volks "Yume no Grand Prince Hotel Kyoto 2010" Owners Event

Sep 15, 2009

    1. Sister Yo (x 4), Ryo and Kun are re rerelease again for this event, that why they are not so expansive ! It is my ideas...

Thoses Megu, Sara, Nana and Kira are very the same mold !

    2. Mimi, Nono, and SwD Nana sell in the 45,000 range as well. I've never followed Syo, but he did not strike me as being very popular. Nono and Mimi were the two that were commanding the higher prices right after the event and have come down in price.

    3. you are lucky about nana swd, i have paid mine arround 50 000 yens... or more ...

But perhaps those mold are more popular, i think they are really cute :)

    4. Oh it's all so cute! It was only a matter of time before Volks did an AIW theme and I like how they are going about it. I may have to beg someone overseas to get me that Yo~White Rabbit. :)

    5. :abow:
thanks so much, rkold! :) I swear I will figure this volks business out in entirety someday! xD I am definitely going to the dolpa the next day, but am a little unsure about this Alice event. The dresses are gorgeous... but I think if I go it will be out of hopes that they sell a big Williams mad hatter. :?

I am headed up towards osaka this weekend, so if I have time I will poke into the Osaka store and get my VS and application. Though.. it is getting mighty tempting to just forego the Alice event and plan to splurge big time the next day. :fangirl: (they should have a greedy emoticon)

    6. I will save and then look after Y!j auctions I think...as I really like alice dress and the Yo themselves ^^!!! I hope to find a good nude half broken without eyes cheap Alice ahhahahh ^O^

    7. The yo's are adorable and the outfits fit theme very well. I really want to get the opera pink cat outfit..its looks so cute on Elena:)

      Briar

    8. Wow...I wish I could go there !! Thanks for the infomation.

    9. Thanks Kim they are so darn cute!!

    10. superdollfie.net has updated with info on both Yos. It's probably nothing you all haven't seen already, but the photos are nice.
      Little Alice
      White Rabbit

    11. Alice Theme... original =__=* !

    12. Why do I never have money when a doll I would really like to have comes out? I can just imagine the price Alice will fetch on the MP. I really wish Volks would hold another US Dolpa actually in person here so I could possible have a chance. It doesn't change that I still love their dolls I just wish I could get more of them. I love 4-sisters Yo and someday I will get one but I have a hard time paying the same amount for a Tiny Yo as my SD Girls. I am truly amazed at the cost of the event even for the Japanese. I had no idea a hotel room cost that much. I must be doing the conversion rate wrong. It looks like $500 per room. Is that right?

    13. Well, Tim Berton is doing it. This event will be about the same time as the movie release so perfect timing as far as marketing is concerned.

    14. Yeah... I know... I am quite tired of Alice Theme BTW... is everywhere!

    15. Even ignoring that, the Japanese have a special obsession with Alice in Wonderland which is only remotely matched by their special obsession with Anne of Green Gables. Personally, I'm suprised it's taken them this long to do an Alice theme.

    16. Tsukidoll: It's 36,000 for a single and 25,000 yen for a double (per person). Using xe.com that bring it to $398 and $276 respectively. Seems like the yen to dollar rate has gone up since the last time I checked. >3<

Has anyone else e-mail Volks about VolksUSA member entering? I sent in an e-mail yesterday and am curious if anyone else has gotten a response.

    17. Well I am not tire of Alice Theme when it is done correctly. When something is classic it will be repeated until the end of time.

Romance of the Three Kingdom has been done numerous time just within the last 2 decades LOL LOL

I do love the Little Alice and the Hatter.:aheartbea

    18. VolksUSA forwards those requests to their corporate offices in Japan. I had already sent an email to their corporate offices in Japan and got this response from them:

So if everyone keeps sending their emails, VolksUSA may be offered a chance to go. But if anyone lives outside of the US and Japan wants to go, they should email Volks too. The more they hear from their international customers, the better. Their email address is: [email protected]

    19. Aaah, thanks for that Izayoi! I'm guessing I'll eventually get the same response. I really hope they open it up to international members. >3<

    20. I believe that makes 3 of us >.<
      ~Pandora~

    21. I emailed them and heard back that for people who live in Japan, it is possible to get the VS membership app via mail, and then again the event application once that is turned in.

edit!~ i had to clarify my message's content.

    22. Did anyone else in the USA get this message?

Thank you very much for your continued support of Volks.

We are writing to inform you in more detail regarding the Grand Price Hotel event being held in Kyoto next year that you inquired about previously.
Thank you most sincerely for your patience in waiting for a response.

We are truly very sorry to have to tell you this, but unfortunately due to a variety of circumstances it has been decided that VolksUSA members will not be able to participate in this particular event.

We would like to apologize most humbly for not being able to live up to your wishes.
However we will continue to work our hardest to be able to broaden the scope of our future events and activities for all our customers.
We truly hope and pray that you will not take this too much to heart, and that you will continue to support Volks in the future.

      Sincerely,

      VOLKS Web Site Service Center

Boooo!! Booooo!!!! Hissss!!!!! Alright, I'll calm down now....its NY and FDQ for me next year then!

    23. I wonder what the real reasons are for barring Volks USA customers. It had better not be silly swine flu fears or something. :rolls eyes:

    24. nathankatt-I got that same email sadly. But I'm going to the SD Workshop and Reception next saturday so I will talk to Mikey and see if maybe she can do something.

    25. Considering they allowed VolksUSA members to go to on the cruise at the beginning of October, I highly doubt it is this.

Perhaps due to logistics, they're unable to work out something for foreign visitors. I imagine it adds stress to a large event to have a small number of non-Japanese speakers attend who are going to require special attention.

I'm sure they have valid reasons for doing so, and considering how accommodating Volks has been in the past, I don't think continuing to push the issue is what should happen.

    26. Oh well. I guess that means I will just have to stalk y!J after the party.

    27. I would not be surprised if they change their mind. They did for the Kobe cruise.

    28. Oh yeah, please do! Remind Mikey tactfully that we haven't had a real full-fledged Dolpa on U.S. grounds since NY of 2008, and are itching to participate and buy a limited bjd or two!
      :lol::lol::fangirl::fangirl::fangirl:

    29. Well, at least Kyoto Dolpa is the next day. :)

    30. It could be as simple as they didn't get enough people in the US showing interest and so they don't feel like it is worth it for the extra work they will have to go through for it. ^^;

    31. Maybe it's that they had too much Japanese interest that they have no extra spots for volksusa fans.

    32. I agree. Plus, in the US we have VolksUSA member events only, so why wouldn't the Japanese members have the same type of events? Maybe they just do special events for their different customer bases.

    33. I got the same e-mail. I have to say I'm really, really sad about it! I was so looking forward to maybe going. T_T I wonder why they decided against allowing VolksUSA members to apply? I can't imagine it would take that much extra work for VolksUSA members to apply or attend or what kind of special attention said members would need especially as they've done it in the past. I'm really curious!

NabeeRain: I know during NY Dolpa 3 there was a Japanese girl and her father who attended so I don't think it's been strictly VolksUSA member events. And the last in-person LA event was open to Japanese fans/dealers as well if I remember correctly.

    34. Yes, I guess I was thinking of the events where Volks said you had to be a VolksUSA member (like with the on line events and one-offs). I know about the dealers and fans being invited to the LA event, but I did not realize the other events were open to non members (except for FDQ was open of course). Oh wells, it was just a theory anyway ^_^

    35. .....Hmmmm I like Kansai and I would definitely recommend visiting it should you ever go to Japan, however I can see how for someone who has never been to Japan before and does not speak any Japanese getting from the airport to Kyoto itself could be a bit complicated. I am not 100% sure there is a shuttle between the main Kyoto station and the hotel, in which case you would then need to navigate the subway. To me, and to someone who lives in Kyoto it's easy, but I can also see it as something complicated for someone who is new to Japan.

However, you're welcome to try talking to Volks to see if the decision can get changed.

      I still think it was not enough interest on the part of VolksUSA members. ^^;

The deadline for the applications for the Japanese is in a little less than a week. I know plenty of people in Japan do things semi-last minute so that would have to be a pretty huge turnout or very limited rooms to have Japanese response be the reason.

    36. but just a question: are they realizing also an after event sale for the one who can't afford to go there like Dollpas ..??

    37. pacchan: Like with most of the other Owner's Events there will probably not be an after event. The dolls available at the event (like SD17 Williams and the different Ceciles for the cruises and YoSDs at the Tokyo Disney event) are only for those who attend the event and are not available otherwise.

    38. No, there is not going to be an After Event.

Since the dolls are Pre-order for all attendees there are sure to be a lot of them on Y!J though.

I got my Disney Yo SD Ryo fullset from Y!J and with fees ended up paying around $500.

    39. So soooorry about thaat...even if it is sooo far away for me...but on Y!j with fees handling shipping...maybe someone on Doa will sell their ^^
thank you for the infos ^^

    40. I think 500$ is a fair price for Disney Ryo...i ve seen soo much higher prices even here...
I am worried about raising prices since Alice is a very popular theme and one of my fav!!!
thanks for infos..and good luck to all!!
I have seen other pics...so stunning!

    41. For the most part Y!J Prices on these sorts of limiteds, especially Yos, are much cheaper than what you'll find on DoA. Even now I can find the re-release of Renge and Suzuna for under 40,000 yen but most of the ones for sale on DoA are over $500.

    42. I think rkold shared her price of $500 to ease our fears that prices would be incredibly inflated for these yos. I paid $432 for my Ryo when we ordered them from VolksUSA, so the cost of $500 is a great price [including fees]. I just hope that the White Rabbit won't be too expensive on Y!J, since he is the only thing I like from this event. I hope that your Alice will be just as affordable as well! :aheartbea

    43. Yes, thank you Daniel Falls, that is exactly what I meant. :)

At first the Disney Yos were all selling very high on Y!J (60-70,000 yen) but if someone is patient and lets the first few sell at super high prices eventually they all became a lot lower except for the people with the high BINs counting on people not having watched the market.

I got my SwD Nana in Japan at Mandarake for I think 47,000 yen. She was missing her wig and eyes, but had her outfit. I personally find the wigs and eyes on most Volks LEs do not resell well on their own so it was not a huge loss to me since neither were things I was going to use. I know I saw some end for similar amounts on Y!J I know I have also seen Mimi, Kun, and Syo all sell for 50,000 yen or less full set on Y!J I think Kira and Nono were going for 55,000 yen at most.

All of them were less though than what it would have cost me to attend the event (ignoring airfare, the hotel was like $200 a night per person!) and sold for less than what they went for in the DoA marketplace. If this event is anything like the last one I am sure there will be a ton on Y!J and even if you end up paying 55,000 yen+fees for Alice it still would have been cheaper than attending the event since again the hotel is like $250 a night per person ignoring airfare) You do miss out on the actual experience by not attending, but at the moment I am pretty sure the event is only open to people with Japanese mailing addresses and VS/VIP membership.

Personally, I think this event is a little more expensive than the last one. ^^;; And honestly, I can't imagine anyone is going to get to enjoy the breakfast the next morning if the Dolpa is the same day cause the Volks staff is going to have to be at the convention center by 7 and people will definitely be lining up by 7 and it will take at least 45 minutes to get from the Prince to the Dolpa venue unless like you have a car and then I am not sure what it is. lol

    44. No, nothing yet. *chews on nails* I hope we hear soon, I've gotta budget!

    45. Isn't it still quite early? I thought we weren't going to find out until mid-December.

    46. I know, I know... but a girl can dream, right? ;)

    47. I want to have the Little Alice! Who can help me to get her?

    48. Umm I would think any of the people taking commissions already did so since they already had to apply and put in their request for the dolls.

    49. Thanks for your info! I am a newbie; who should I contact?

    50. Well, at this moment no one's sure if they've made it in to the event yet :) Give it at least one more week; Volks will eventually begin notifying those who've made it into the event. Afterwards, I'm sure commissions will begin ^_^

    51. about commissions ! because the papers for the lotery was sent already... perhaps Yahoo auction !

      Me, i don't take any comission, i am full :'( sorry !

      it is 15th... no news...

    52. alice is soooo cute. i just wounder how much will it take to get one from Y!

    53. I must get an Alice:...( Anybody?

    54. Thank youuuu!!! I think I must start saving from now on :fangirl: ahahhahah!!
I know every expense is on the total cost of the doll...and finally if you haven't payed the hotel and the flight and so and so the final price is cheaper that have been there, but you totally miss the event!! I meant it must be (if one has the money) really huuuge!
well I must start saving now ^^ thanks for all your suggestion!
I hope you can get White Rabbit too he is so cuuuute!!!
and the dresses in my opinion are soooo well done!

    55. I WANT THE White Rabbit YO-SD :(

    56. I want the Alice YoSD.Really need someone to get one for me.Hohoho^^
