Hi everyone, I just order my DD Snow Miku a few days ago and I am waiting on her now. I got her off of ebay but there is a story to how I got there. I learned from this experience to always look for deals. I know that should have been obvious but you know when you are looking for out of stock dolls, you then to jump at anyone that has her or him. I went to amazon and found miku there but I had so many problems. Then I went to ebay and the seller was so wonderful and had more included than the other guy on amazon and a perfect rating. My transaction went perfectly and he was so nice with keeping in contact with me.

Sorry to talk so much. I am just so excited!! This will be my very first Dollfie Dream. Oh, the guy on amazon was a little less than the other guy but he only offered snow miku with standard shipping. However, the wonder guy on ebay gave me snow miku, with special made miku full bodysuit, and EMS shipping. She will be here sometime this week!! X3 I can't wait! I have two bjd's and I remember how hard it was waiting for them for months to come; so, the wait for miku is not to bad. I still want her now but I can't wait. giggle

How was everyone's experience with getting their first Dollfie Dream? I am so curious. ^__^

@Lady L I really enjoy my Dollfie Dreams (my husband actually likes them better than my resin dolls, probably due to the anime aesthetic.) I got my first ones when Volks closed their US physical store (to become web-only) in 2014. They were selling the optional body parts for cheap, so I actually built my first Dollfie Dreams. They're easier to handle than the SD-10 sized Super Dollfies because they are so light, but you do have to be vigilant about staining. Snow Miku is lovely, I hope you enjoy her!

 

Thank you! I heard about the staining; so, I made sure I got the special miku full body suit that has her 01 on it. That must have been so much fun making your own dollie!! X3 Dollfie Dreams do look really light. I have a resin SD boy and MSD girl; so, this will be interesting experience a totally different kind of doll! I can't wait! The tracking said Miku should come by Friday! So excited!!! ^////////^

My Una came in today! I'd lost the light for pictures by the time the post arrived, but I'll try to take some soon!

 

I'm currently waiting on a Saber DD and a DDP body (which will be here tomorrow)!
I can't stop thinking about tan Dollfie Dreams... I kind of want to proxy one. But I don't even have my first vinyl girl together yet!

@Hollytastic - you're so lucky to have a Saber on the way! I want one in the future for sure. Shes so refined and elegant in my opinion.

I recently bought Momo and I'm so excited to get her. I've been wanting Momo since I first saw her pictures online a year or so ago. She was delayed by a week but I'm sure she's definitely worth it.

I've been going through all my DD clothes and wigs and eyes and...I have no idea how she will end up looking. I'm very excited - shes an unknown blank slate and I cant name her until she gets here.
Of course, I have a list of names all ready

I’m waiting for my MDD Liliru from Volks USA (ordered Tuesday) and Sheryl Nome from Volks Int (ordered yesterday). I know it’s only been a couple days/one day...but I’m so impatient to get my shipping notification! This is my first time ordering from Volks directly so I’m not sure what to expect. Any recent experiences?

Well, I placed an order with Volks USA on the 4th. Last time I ordered it shipped within 3 days, so on Tuesday I emailed them.

Last week they were apparently working on the Anime Expo and just got back into the office on Wednesday (which is when they replied to my email).

They said there is a bit of a backlog and they will ship out in order, starting end of this week and beginning of next week.

I hope yours isn't delayed too much but I still havent gotten a shipping notification. Hoping for it soon though!

 

@Sylvanjade Thank you! This makes me feel a lot better, actually. My Volks International shipment shipped out this morning without a hitch, so I was getting worried about the USA site. It’s also nice they’re responsive by email. At least now I know to be patient and it isn’t the usual.

If you're in the US, Amazon is having Prime Day. I was just listening to the radio yesterday about how packages may be delayed because they simply can't keep up!

 

Still waiting on Liliru, but my Volks JP order arrived earlier than expected! So glad Sheryl made it safely. I am in the US, so bracing for Prime delays.

 

I impulse-bought a semi-white 06 (head only, I have a SW bust waiting but I might try to colour-match her to my NS body) from a lovely lady on the DD forums, because 1) she's in Canada, shipping will be affordable and the currency conversion won't kill me, 2) the eyes she was selling are cheap and the right colours and sizes, 3) I hate my job and it was payday so I celebrated.
Canada Post is stupid and priority shipping was $0.76 more expensive than regular, so I went "why not" - and then I realized that I should NEVER DO THAT AGAIN because I'm sitting in the entryway of my house hoping and praying that she'll arrive tonight and not tomorrow. I want my girl! And I want her now! (I feel like a petulant child.)
Hope everyone's handling their waits better than I am! Here in Chateau Stupid, population one, we very well are not. >.<

The 06 heads are so lovely. Any ideas what kind of faceup you want to do? Or does she have one already?

 

The waiting and worrying is the worst part >.< I hope your Momo arrives soon! She's such a sweet sculpt - her little face always makes me smile. The wait will definitely be worthwhile.

The 06 is technically supposed to be a practice head. (Unless I can blush her to match my NS body, but I'm not counting on that. I also might acetone-shrink her and pop her on a MDD or MSD body once I have the budget. Everything's up in the air and I'm excited!)
Tentative face plans include winged eyeliner (my best friend said he'd be mad if I didn't! I I spammed him with faceup pics and he really liked the eyeliner lol), drawn-on teeth, a couple of pastel looks to match the purple eyes she's coming with, fixing a small nick with Apoxie Sculpt, and experimenting with style and expressions!
How about your girl - any possible concepts or items set aside for her, or are you waiting until she arrives?

Wow you have so many plans for your 06 head! I didnt know acetone shrinking was a thing . I'll have to look into that. Do you paint first then shrink?

I think winged eyeliner is a good idea! I have massive respect for anyone who draws on heads - the very thought terrifies me, mostly cause I cant draw squat.
What sort of wigs are you thinking of going with the eyes? And what kind of purple? Lighter or dark? I love purple eye and my current girl has them. You won't be disappointed!

And I'm not sure about Momo yet. I went through a massive change with my first because i thought I knew what I wanted so I'm taking it slow this time. Shes also my first NS and will have a pink wig.

 

Shrinking is more of a fashion doll thing! It's only just barely migrated into DD territory - here's a thread on the DD forums about it, and here's the Flickr user that has a really cute shrunken Alna on a VM50 body, with shrunken DDDy hips.
I wouldn't want to risk a faceup, so I'll be shrinking her blank if/when I decide to do it. Yay, mad science!

Oh, oops! Light purple, always. I'm going to try to find a wig that matches her eyes, and maybe light grey and brown too. If she can't be a functional doll yet she can at least be a show piece... might just sculpt a stand for the SW bust I have and put her on display, I suppose!
Momo plus pink sounds ADORABLE. I have to see your girls!

Wow, I had no idea. The results are really interesting...I just love how there are so many options/modifications you can do - the possibilities are seemingly endless! Keep us posted on your progress if you do this - I'm curious to see how it turns out.

And light purple eyes are so lovely. I prefer a darker/bright purple myself, but its so hard to get that correct shade. I think the light purple would look stunning with the light grey or even white wig. I've seen some pictures and always wondered if I could do that someday in person. Brown is lovely too - that's my current wig color on Iris:



Please show some pictures of your girl when you get her all settled! And good luck on the eye search (if you haven't found one already). I love seeing other eye colors!

 

haha, funny story time!

i have been waiting on a shipping confirmation email from volks international for over a week, and finally checked the site and it shipped 4 or 5 days ago! so that’s neat.

and does anyone know what ‘retention’ means? it arrived in ny on the 20th and has been in ‘retention’ since the 21st.

 

My girl is here!... in the same city. Close enough.
She's supposed to arrive tomorrow - and my shift tomorrow night got cancelled! Assuming the weather cooperates, I'll have time to do a faceup test :') FINALLY.

Iris is ADORABLE! She has such a sweet face, and the dark purple adds a really nice pop of colour.
I'll post pictures once I give the new girl (Frankie, maybe? Short for Frankendollfie, since she's a project doll) a faceup that isn't crap, lol. Her eyes are coming with her (one of the reasons I bought her from that seller specifically was that the eyes were really nice skfdsklf), but she'll be bald till my student loan check comes

Ooh, what did you get? :0 Sounds like waiting for the email helped speed the waiting process along, while also... being a pain. Volks is such a big company, it's weird that the shipping confirmation email didn't send - you'd think they'd have that automated.

"Retention" sounds like your package is in Doll Jail - er, Customs - if it's in your city. Otherwise, it could be what Canada Post calls "processing" - which I think is basically the package sitting around and then getting dispatched to the right city? My girl's been in processing in Missisauga over the weekend on her way to [city that isn't Missisauga] - so maybe it's just waiting around in a convenient location until the post offices reopen for the week, lol

this box will be a very exciting pair of msd socks and then a yosd dai tacked on for good measure (as you do when buying doll socks that only cost ¥495 and you want to make the shipping worth it)

SHE'S HEEEEEERE! And she's tiny. 06 is so small compared to my 07 ;-; (Sorry, I haven't quite figured out how to @ people here...)
It looks like I'm going to be doing some sanding on her eyewells so her eyes fit better (and waiting out the stupid stupid rain so I can give her a face), but I don't mind. I'm just glad she's home!

How about your Dai? Is he even cuter in person?

since this boy is my first ‘real’ doll, i honestly didn’t know what to expect, but nobody told me it was gonna be like this ...... i am fully smitten. i spent hours playing with him last night! words and pictures do not come close to the power of dollfie in person.

Oops, I did it again... I couldn’t resist the SDC Renee Belling the Cat version. She hasn’t shipped from Volks JP yet (I only ordered a couple days ago). I can’t WAIT! She’s my first “real” BJD and first non-Dollfie Dream Volks doll! So I’m doing a lot of reading up on taking care of resin and strung dolls.

I’m thinking about trying out some more animetic-style eyes on her, just to see, but not sure how they usually look in the more realistic Super Dollfie style. Anyone tried this?

Renee arrived safely! I’ve ordered twice now from Volks JP and they honestly are so fast. I ordered from Volks USA the same day I ordered Renee, and it still hasn’t shipped. I know they tend to be slower around convention season, but waiting is so hard... Anyone else waiting on anything from either Volks?

 

congrats on renee !! and congrats on your first resin volks !! how is she in person vs. pictures? have you tried the animetic eyes yet? i’d love to see the results!

i am waiting on my midi girl from the volks usa july fcs, but that will be another month or two at least!

 

I haven’t tried the eyes yet, but only because I’m SUPER intimidated by the hot glue! I’m used to dolls coming with the putty, so I’m frantically looking up how to get the glue out without damaging her! tips are welcome!

oof yeah, that is tricky. all of the tricks i know for removing hot glue would definitely make the eyelashes let go too ....

I've placed an order for a custom DDH-01 and a MDD body in semi-white this week! I've been eyeing and trying to resist the call of custom DDH-01s for maybe over a year or so, but I guess I've succumbed to their cuteness.

She's going to be a birthday gift for myself and I hope she comes home soon!

 

How long does Volks take to ship orders for Super Dollfie from the full choice system?

i just got a confirmation email from volks usa that my sdmidi from july fcs is on her way to them from kyoto! should only be a few more weeks till i welcome my grail doll .....

So I placed an order for DDS Karin on the international site to get the DD-f3 body and I'm practically vibrating through furniture I'm so excited.

My payment did a weird thing that's making me nervous though. It came out of my account successfully immediately after I placed the order, but then three days later I got an auto-confirmation email from Volks. However, when I checked my account, all the money has been returned.

I emailed Volks and they got back quickly saying it can take days to weeks for payments to go through! I was surprised, I've never had that with a debit card before!

I really hope it goes through soon, she's so lovely and I wanna make clothes for her.

They did that with my card once as well which also freaked me out but didn’t impact my shipment at all.

 

Oh yeah? I'm still hopefully refreshing both my bank and the Volks website to see if there's any change but no luck. If they've shipped her they haven't mentioned it, sadly.

Still though, it's a cheerful thought to think they might have! And I'll definitely post lots of photos for you. And maybe even some videos about how I draft patterns for new dolls, since she's a unique size for me!

it’s very cool to me that the joints can be tensioned with screws instead of just friction fit plastic.

 

She's here and I finally had a chance to try out some fun goofy poses to show off her cool body! She was very nearly perfect, but her default wig had some wonkiness I had to fix with some careful trimming and styling.

Here you can see the chunk of hair on her left side (our right). I just could not get it to lay right or figure out why it was halfway between lengths.



Luckily, it was fixable! I trimmed down the weird length hair, and then trimmed a teeny bit of the chin length hair on that same side because it was so much thicker than the other side for some reason. Very pleased with the end results.

She's actually completely balanced in these next two! Not leaning against the wall or anything. I was very surprised.

Hi everyone! I fell in love with SD Lady Óscar the first time I saw it and I knew that she was destined to be my first BJD. Luckily, a contact is currently at Tokyo where Dolpa 40 is celebrated and will go and get her at the event for me. I am looking forward to have her in my arms. Sadly she won't arrive on time for Christmas but maybe for the 31th of december to give a golden end to this wondelful year.

 

I thought I'd join this thread since I am patiently waiting for 2B and 9S. I can't wait for them to arrive next year!

Edit: The pre-order period has recently ended, and I just got a confirmation e-mail from Volks for both of my pre-orders saying that they have been sent off to be processed.

 

I am now waiting for 2B, so beautiful, Miku was very lonely as the only dollfie. Got the preorder at the last moment. My friend was going for 9S but lost the preorder, now she need to wait for launch and for Volks to have any left over...

Impatiently waiting for my FCS girl and my one-off Claude! I got an email Monday that said my FCS should ship in the next few days and I'd get a tracking number then, but nothing yet.

No notice on Claude yet either.

I know it'll be Soon™ on both but I've been checking my email constantly since Monday lol

 

YES!!! I've pre-ordered my grail, a 9S Dollfie Dream. I'm so excited. I already have enough money for the rest of the payment, I just have to wait until around winter of next year. I've been writing a bunch of fanfiction and replaying the game.

 

My FCS and my one-off are out for delivery omgggggg.

Then I'm still here until next year rofl because 9S. XD

 

Well finally my friend could grab this little goddess for me. The sad part is that I will have to wait until january when he comes back to my country.

 

Finally the waiting is gone. My lovely Óscar arrived home.

 

It's a bit late for me to be joining the waiting room, but better late than never! I'm waiting for my Dollfie Dream Jeanne d'Arc. Volks said there was some delay so I'd be here until Early March.

 

Ahhh It’s only been 3 months since I placed my order on 9S and I’m already impatient! I still have at LEAST 8 months before he arrives. What if he’s lonely without me???
