Volks USA Autumn 2009 Event Rush

I'm sad there's not going to be another Los Angeles dolpa.

 

They did not mention anything about any events in LA for next year because they haven't had a chance to plan anything yet. This is the first event that Volks USA planned on their own-the other events were at the mansion and the LA Dolpa was planned by the Japanese staff. So we just have to wait and see what plans they have for next November.

 

Yeah. It's amazing that they were able to announce the dates for the NY Dolpa so soon. They might not even know what they want to do for LA. My personal guess that they'll do something pretty awesome because of the store's anniversary.

I have noticed that at all of the parties except the last LA Dolpa that Volks has said something about "be sure to come next year"! So I think there will not be another LA Dolpa in 2010. I think they will do another web event to celebrate the 5th birthday of the store and sell some special items at the store. It makes sense to me that Volks would concentrate on New York since FDQ helps them organize the event and FDQ gives them extra publicity in their magazine.

 

I suppose we should feel happy that we have the LA store here, so we're able to do a FCS and buy items every weekend... Unlike NY, and unlike almost everywhere else in the world.

It would still be nice to have a proper Dolpa, but if they hold some special events such as this last one, it won't be that bad for us, I think.

I totally agree. I really would like to go to New York, but if I did, I don't think I could buy anything at the event and what's the point of that? XD

This sounds like a ton of fun on an intimate scale. Wish I could've made it to LA for the occasion. I had just got back from a trip to Japan where I'd already encountered most of the Nagoya-4 items for sale in the sumikas, coincidentally (and did binge on all that cute SD13B stuff ^^)... but nevermind the shopping, I miss the classes & I miss getting to see everybody! It's sad no more LA events, but am very stoked that NY events will be back. I never need an excuse to fly back east. A 5th anniversary is as good an excuse as any, though. So, till summertime...!

 

I remember speaking to Volks USA manager Kayo-san a year ago about events and she wanted her first event to be a small one. The Volks USA staff were excited about this event and seemed to have a lot of fun planning it. I have a feeling that Kayo-san has something bigger planned for her next event.

 

I just received shipping notification for my One Off She apparently shipped from Volks USA yesterday and is already in town. Unfortunately, not early enough to be able to get out to me today but delivery is scheduled for Monday 23.

 

I just got my shipping notice too!! I am SO excited! Unfortunately, Tsukasa isn't scheduled to arrive until Wednesday. It'll be hard to stand the wait!

 

Please please please! Everyone who won a one-off post some picutres! I really want to see them!

After some drama with UPS, I was able to get my Tsukasa. He's gorgeous, beautiful!! But...broken.... He arrived dressed, wearing a face plate with his wig in a little bag. But when I picked him up out of his box I heard a rattling sound. I also saw that he was really loose and his head was kind of flopping. So I looked inside and saw that the area around his neckhole was shattered. I wonder if he was strung so tightly that it popped, or if UPS dropped him! I'm just beside myself. I'm emailing Volks these pictures right now, but I don't know what they could possibly do for a One-Off!

riversoblood-Thats awful. I hope VolksUSA can do something. You will probably have to open a claim with UPS though.

 

I'm going to wait until I hear back from Volks first. I had to file a claim with UPS once when they smashed a doll cabinet I bought. They made me surrender the cabinet and took it and its packaging to their claim center. I did get my refund from the seller, but neither I nor the seller ever saw the cabinet again. It would be terrible if Tsukasa had to depend on the mercy of those package smashers at UPS. T_T I really hope Volks can help!

 

That is so horrible I worked for UPS years ago, they treat their packages really badly. Some times people throw them around and play games with them. It looks like the doll can be repaired, I hope you can get some kind of compensation that doesn't involve them taking the doll away. ><

 

riversoblood - that is horrible. He has such a beautiful faceup too. Hopefully Volks will make it all right.

 

That break looks fairly reparable. It's a part of the head where the only force is going to be pushing downward due to the S-hook and stringing, that I bet you could reattach the broken resin pieces with apoxie and suffer no loss of head mobility and probably have no issues with rebreaking.

riversoblood - That's horrible! D: But at least he's not broken anywhere noticeable if he's glued back together. Still, I hope UPS pays for that mistake. At least he was sent UPS, though - the post office is infinitely worse when it comes to claims.

After a little email mixup, Volks got back to me about my poor Tsukasa. They said:

"We are so very sorry to see what has happened with your Tsukasa.
We have never had a doll arrive damaged so severely and to have it
be one of our special One-Offs is very upsetting.

For now, please leave Tsukasa as he is. We are sending the pictures to
our headquarters to see what can be done for you, so we ask for your
patience regarding this matter.

We will also be making a claim to UPS and they may need to be in contact
with you regarding this matter as well, so we ask for your help in this should
we need it.

Thank you again in advance for your patience and understanding during this
process.

So I'll wait to hear back from them. I really hope it doesn't come down to dealing with evil UPS taking him away!

 

Oh that's good to see that Volks is on top of things and will get this fixed somehow riversoblood...hopefully really soon! Those one-offs are so special and your doll's face is so exceptional and beautifully painted up. Darn UPS!

 

Thanks, yeah, I'm happy at least that Volks is being efficient about it. UPS called me already and had me email the pictures of the damage. They did want to take him away, but they were happy I'd already taken pictures of him, so they said it would probably be enough for them to process the claim.

I got a reply back from Volks about my poor Tsukasa. They said:

"Thank you for inquiring about the UPS Claim.

We haven't heard anything definitive yet. They did contact
us to let us know that they would be sending us the results
of the claim by mail, but we have not yet received it.

Also, we spoke to our headquarters about Tsukasa for you.
They let us know that they will be preparing a new head and
body for you.

Although he won't be exactly the same, we know that they will
try their best to make him as close as possible and every bit as
beautiful as the original.

So, for now please continue to leave Tsukasa as he is and we will
let you know what we need you to do as soon as we can.

this situation.

Yaaaaaay~! Volks rocks! I'm so happy I still get to have a Tsukasa after all. I just wish it could be the one I have right now, he's so lovely. T_T Hopefully, they'll look really alike.

 

That's really great Rivers! If they ask for the whole doll back [which will be most likely I think] I hope that they won't destroy the old head. It could probably be fixed with epoxy putty. It would be sad to see such a nice doll just thrown away. Maybe if you wanted you could offer to buy the broken head or something, because if they are just going to toss it they would probably be happy to make a little off of it.

 

Yeah, I figure they will want him back. That will be hard. T_T I doubt they'd let me make an offer on the head, though. It doesn't seem like something Volks would do. I do hope they don't throw him away either! Maybe they will repair him themselves and use him as a display model.

Question- When is sunlight skin going to be available for FCS? I am correct when I say you can go and order it right now if you went to the Sumika in LA, right?

I'm popping on to say Volks finally had a resolution with UPS! They had me ship the broken Tsukasa back to them last week. I was supposed to keep the outfit and head plate, but I couldn't get the plate off so they said they'd do it for me. They say when they get the doll they'll ship me the new Tsukasa. It was really hard to see the old one go, but I'm looking forward to the new boy!

I entered for this One-Off back in October! It's been a long haul!
