Volks USA Autumn 2009 Event Rush

Sep 19, 2009

    1. Check again, there is all sorts of items up.

    2. OMG SUNLIGHT SKIN NOW IN THE US!!!!! T___________T Thank you Volks!!!

    3. Here's what it says:

    4. At first I thought it might be another US Dolpa but it looks like it isn't. I might enter for the class though as I would love to have a white open eyed A head to be twin for my sleeping A :) I have a feeling there will be a ton of entries though. I wonder what the capacity will be?

    5. Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

    6. Thank you, Midori

Yes I am pretty sure this is to replace with the DP LA.

I guess all the DPLA will be virtual on line thing. But I totally understood.

Yes for the Japanese welcoming dress for FCS I want one... Now who should I get for sunlight skin who should I get for sunlight skin.....

I wonder who will fly out here to teach the workshop. It will be totally awesome to meet the artist again

    7. Dude you are applying with me, RIGHT?!!!

    8. You're welcome, Anavel.

With the announcement of sunlight skin coming to the LA Sumika, it's making me go back to an old doll plan that I put to the side because of its limitation to only Sato. I'm totally happy about this. :)

    9. So much going on, how cool! :whee:
I'm not sure I will enter for the workshop though I was really hoping for an LA Dolpa this year
since I probably won't be in CA if they do one next year. I wonder if there will ever be another US Dolpa?
At least I now know when VolksUSA will be getting Kanata. :)
Excited to see the one-off models and special web lottery items though.
Ah, and sunlight skin for fcs, I bet so many people will be happy over it!

    10. It does look like this will be more like an "online Dolpa" than the one they had last year, and it's nice to see that they'll be holding the classes again, even though there's no LA Dolpa, which is a shame.

    11. While the classes seem really cool, I don't think it'll be enough for me to fly home that weekend. I am excited to know that they'll be getting Rinon and Kanata, hopefully meaning they'll be available online at that time as well. I also really want to know what the dealers' items are going to be~

    12. I am so excited over this news! I've been wanting to do a workshop for a while now. I regretted not going to the last one they had in LA, I'm not going to make the same mistake twice... assuming I can get the day off.

I really wish there would be a LA Dolpa to, but I understand that things are tough for everyone right now. I'm just so happy for that workshop!

And now I get to save up for a Sunlight girl... I'm also excited to hear that (she'll be my birthday girl next year- at the rate I'm saving).

    13. definitely most excited about them offering sunlight skin now in the US :) thats just awesome and makes my bank account cry lol

    14. It's great news! Now, if we could ONLY have SD16 and SD17 bodies...I can but dream! Maybe next year!

    15. Wonderful news about the classes. They were loads of fun and very informative at the NYC Dolpa. Sadly, I don't think I can get away from work smack in the middle of the holiday shopping season. I don't think the Volks staff understands the difficulty of traveling in the states during the holidays. But if I can swing it I might try to get out there for a visit again. I don't think the Volks USA shop is big enough for an event so they might be renting a hall or something. I can't wait to see the one-off dolls again. That was the best part of the last web event. :)

    16. *O* OMG sunlight in US lucky! Wish Volks came to Europe already T_T..

    17. I participated in the last makeup workshop in L.A. at the Dolpa... Is there a price listed somewhere for the workshop if I don't need the Tool Kit? I may just be reading too quickly, but I couldn't find it...

Does anyone know where the workshops will be held?

I'd LOVE to know who will be teaching them, too!

    18. I'm so glad to have a more official date for the September Release items at VolksUSA and I'm glad to know the LA Sumika will have sunlight skin and the additional order option.

    19. Ooh, I'd really love to have a white skin SwD School A. I think I may try to drive down for this workshop. I'm sure I can find other Vegas people who'd want to do it!

I'm also glad we finally have sunlight skin at VolksUSA but it's too bad they discontinued the head mold I wanted in that color. A sunlight F-11 elf would have been adorable!

    20. yep, it's here.
      http://www.volksusa.com/volks-usa-autumn-2009-event-rush-workshop.html

I agree. They were such lovely dolls last time.

    21. I dont like the sunlight in the usa thing personally, It seems its going to make ordering a sato so much less special. Same for the japanese outfits. There web lotto is going to kill me please no cute clothes ^crosses fingers X.x

    22. Uhhh the Japanese outfits are going to all the Sumikas in Japan starting this week end I believe, so they're already not Sato only. ^_^;;; I think it's only fair that if the Japanese Sumikas get them the LA and Seoul Sumikas do as well.

I think it's lovely that Sunlight skin is coming to the USA permanently. Even if most of us go to Tenshi no Sato in person we still can not order a FCS in person because we have no address to ship to.

There are still plenty of special things about Sato (many molds are still Sato only, they're likely to get their own new outfits, 2 new eye colors, a bunch of the harder to make and popular eye colors just went Sato only.)

Having actually been to Tenshi no Sato (and ordered FCS there), the LE-ness of the FCS is not what makes it special even when placing an order. It's the entire atmosphere and presentation.

    23. White skin School A *.*
I'm so sad that I can't go, but I definately will try to get one through commission!

    24. You pretty much hit every point that I wanted to note.

Sato will always have special things. Every time the Sato welcoming outfits comes to all Sumikas, they always have a new one. That has been the trend since the very beginning. And it's not like all of the Sato heads and options are coming to the US, even if we wish for it. They are still just for Sato until Volks decide to make a couple of them into the Sumika line up.

    25. I agree, having done a FCS at both Sato and LA that it's the experience itself that makes the FCS so special. Sato by itself is so nice to visit, and you can only get the Tenshi there and experience all that Sato has to offer in terms of atmosphere. I think it's nice that they give the LA store a little something special as well since it's a big enough destination for people to get to already. It's great that more people will be able to get their dream dolls and sunlight skin is very popular in the States, moreso than in Japan.

I will miss the old FCS outfits, but I think the kimono ones are nice as well. It seems they're really trying to give fans a bigger chance at getting access to more items.

    26. I'm so excited to hear that Sunlight skin and the welcoming dresses are coming to the US!!!!!

And can't wait to hear more about the Web Dolpa one-off models...wishing, wishing, wishing for a F-01 one-off!!:)

    27. Well I feel a little better about it now at least X.x

Addicted omg dont even let me think about one off models X.x my wallet couldnt take it lol XP

    28. I LOVE the Japanese welcoming outfits and I'm happy these are going to be an option everywhere. I'm also really psyched that sunlight skin is a viable U.S. optionm now. I DON'T care if it make ordering from Sato less special. The likelyhood of me actually GETTING to Sato is slim to none. I just wish the Sato heads were available in the U.S. and that's what I've REALLY been hoping for years because of the expense of the shopping services.

As for online Dolpa- it looks like it's JUST going to be a couple One Offs and some outfits. Not even a new doll. And there were only 7 or so one-offs last year which makes odds absolutely terrible.

    29. Nell--Thanks for the link! I SO fail at negotiating the Volks sites! *_*

    30. chehime there are supposed to be sato only molds, Otherwise sato wouldnt have to much to exist for anymore. If you cant get to sato there are plenty of people who you can order sato with doesnt seem your trying hard enough.

    31. Oh man I really wish I could go to that class. My Mom and I both want Schulze, he's just so cute!

I think I'm most excited about the addition of the sunlight skin option though. I might finally be able to get my tan F15! :D

    32. I'm so excited about the class! That was what I was most disappointed about when they decided not to have an in-person Dolpa last year. Oh, I hope I get into the class!!

    33. T_T..I've order 2 FCS's before...that wasn't much special for me lol...so having sunlight skin as an US option makes it probably easier to find a service US based. Probably cheaper fee/shippingcost anyways seems just perfect. But still some molds are only available at sato.

    34. I don't know why some people are getting up in arms about it because "omg its not Sato anymooooooore..." I think Sato can still exist even if by some radical change LA gets all of the things that Sato carries [which it won't anyway. Sato will always be 'special']. People will still go to Sato that want to visit Japan and experience the atmosphere of Sato. To say that people that don't commission a person aren't try hard enough to get their doll is also a bit harsh...when you take into account how expensive it is to commission someone to go to Sato for you and pay twice the shipping from Volks to the person and then to you..I do not think it's unreasonable to wish that some things could come to the states and be available to people here as well. Sadly most of us won't have the luxury making a trip out to Sato or LA...so that 'special-ness' of either place doesn't matter much since it will still be done via online.

    35. But these are also luxury items. I understand both sides of the coin too, but remember, these dolls are luxury items. Some dolls might always be out of reach because of the price tag. If you really, truely want it, you will find a way to get it.

    36. Point taken, If you truly want a Sato only, I agree there are plenty of ways to get one you just have to decide if it's really worth it...i don't necessarily equate someone who wishes to avoid the high expenses that comes with it [commission fees/hassle with shopping services] as someone who hasn't worked hard enough though. I don't think there is anything wrong wishing for an easier way to get a doll either, and hope that a company like Volks will try to reach their US fans by releasing more things to LA. That just my opinion..but most of this is getting to be off topic anyway...but I do agree that yes if someone wants one, it's not like they are impossible to get. What I didn't understand is why its so upsetting that sunlight dolls can be ordered in the states?

    37. Hey, if they're more popular here, I see the reason to letting it come here. Maybe they noticed it when they held Dolpas here or had One Offs in sunlight skin, how popular that option was. Like a normal skinned one got oh...say 100 people putting in for it, but the sunlight got 50 more, maybe a light bulb went off in their heads?

Nothing wrong with wishing there was an easier way by any means though! But I don't understand it either. It's nice to share something with Sato stores!

    38. Exactly! I know that many fans love the Sunlight skin, and Volks mentioned it was because of many fans wishes that they brought it to LA~ It's nice to know Volks is listening~ I hope that maybe in time they also include more Sato only heads in LA, and I know they will still keep many Sato only heads there too...especially as they release more headmolds. >w< I'd be thrilled to finally get an F36/F40 from LA~

    39. Have you ever been to Tenshi no Sato? Like even once? Because if you have, that is seriously a ridiculous statement to make. ^_^;

Tenshi no Sato is special for more than just the FCS options or tenshi that can be purchased there. There are many Sumikas in Japan, but none of them compare to Sato. Sato has a gorgeous garden, a museum of all past LEs, a small cafe, and a doll doctor. It's a place for SD and Dollfie Dream owners to come together. Even if every single thing one could purchase in every single other Sumika Sato would STILL BE SPECIAL

Were you bothered when Volks took the elf heads that were supposed to be a LA exclusive and brought them to Sato? Those were supposed to be LA only, and then they gave Sato a human ear option that was not offered in LA.

I think it would be great if Volks brought more of the Sato heads to LA even if it were just for say a 3-6 month special order period. Again, even if most of us PAY to go to Japan to visit Sato we STILL CAN NOT ORDER FCS THERE It's not even a matter of luxury, it's having to actually know someone in Japan to receive shipping. At the very least Volks should allow people who travel from the US to Sato to place a FCS order and have it shipped to them even if they don't bring the heads.

Maybe some of us don't feel we should have to subsidize someone else's hobby by paying for a service. And isn't the whole point of FCS that you get to place the order for your dream doll?!?

The biggest difference would be some people's dolls might not resell as well, people who paid services might feel resentful, and services might make less money.

    40. Wish I could go to the workshop, but Cali is just too far. Bummer.

    41. Oh how wonderful! A in store event, new full choice options, and great limited web items! What fun!!

    42. Well that is really nice that they are going to add the workshop. I guess that sorta makes up for not having a real Dolpa for West coast.

    43. edit-sorry dlb post

    44. OK, now I am vexed. FCS Sunlight Boy, or Kanata??? *head desk*

    45. The knees of both bodies look different I think. They finally made new legs to end up the knee breakage thing? I really hope so, cause that would be absolutly great.

    46. Which bodies are you talking about? I've never heard of the SD13 boy body having a leg problem, just the SD10 body and those knees look same as my guys. I've only had a tiny bit of that problem on one of my dolls, but if they did do some re-engineering that'd be nice so long as it pretty much looks the same~ :aheartbea

    47. I think, thought I am not positive, that those are pictures of older knee versions. I have a pureskin Nono from 2004 that has knees just like that. They are different from the pureskin knees that came out later that year or the following year I am not sure of the exact time (and all the knees that came on the standards until 2008 and the renewed bodies which may or may not have better knees, I dunno). They were the first pureskin knees and they changed them to be more attractive, of course the new attractive ones were prone to the knee breakage.

Of course, I could be way off and they could be new knees! That would be pretty cool! :)

    48. I'm so excited about this "Event Rush!" I hope there will plenty of spaces for people to join the workshops, I know I'd be interested in taking one or both!
I'm wondering where they are going to hold the workshops, the store is way too tiny to have a class of more than 5- and even that would be cramped!

X3 I'm just so excited to hear more details~

I'm so glad that sunlight skin is now in LA, I went to Sato 2 years ago, but there was no way I could order an FCS when I was there, so this is so great! And I agree with rkold- there is no other Sumika like Sato- even if my dreams of the LA store come true, and they get a larger store and have a garden and tons of photo spaces- it still won't be sato. There is no way they can have a 2nd doll museum, the tenshi will still be sato-only, and Sato is the only place where you can meet Mother SD in person. <3

    49. Glad about the sunlight being available in the US I hope it's always. I'm glad some events are online with timing I cna't possibly swing going o the west coast at that time.

    50. I feel the same way. The new options are really fun and I love the school heads. However, I would need a bigger incentive to go to the West Coast. A Shinku would do it! *dreams*

      ~Gus

    51. Poo, I know they love hawking School A, but what I really would have loved would have been School D. School A is so easy to find, School D requires a little more effort and I would love to have one.

Can't wait to see the one offs, though I have to admit I am not as tempted as I would be thanks to finally getting Michele. Maybe a gorgeous Luna boy ;)

    52. Sigh. Bad month to travel but I'd kill for a ws school a. Here's hoping they do a dolpa in ny next year and bring some with them.

    53. I'm definitely excited about sunlight skin coming to LA sumika FCS! I might have to make a trip out there so I can complete my F16 trio, as I already have one each in the other skintones. :XD:

I'm also glad I can give a pass on the workshop. It's exciting to have some kind of event from Volks, but not being a white skin enthusiast, and having taken two workshops at the previous two NY Dolpas, I won't have to worry about trying to fly cross-country for it. ^^ I'm sure lots of people will have fun though! The workshops are pretty cool. :3

Definitely looking forward to seeing the oneoffs even if I don't put in for one, and am wondering what type of "fancy outfits from famous Japanese dealers" they'll have. I hope it's more than just Pure Drop, since I'd love to see something slightly more casual. :sweat

    54. Kanataaaaaaaa.... :sumomo:

    55. I agree with rynn, If you really want a doll you'll find a way to get it whether its sato only or not. Its not just about the expense.

I more meant ordering from sato would be more the same not the in person aspects. I know sato is alot different then the other stores. Unfortunately I cant get to japan at the moment so I was only thinking of the ordering aspect of it.

    56. Well, the only bad part about Sato is unless you know someone in Japan willing to take the package, they will not ship to you. I'd love to go, to just SEE the place, but I wish they'd ship everywhere too at Sato stores. But can't have everything. :)

    57. I can't wait to go to this :D

    58. Sunlight skin in the US! :o Amazing! Now if only someday (preferably far in the future when I've saved up >.>) the cute F-21 were released in LA Sumika and offered at a future NY Dolpa FCS event!

...wait, the molds offered during FCS at a US Dolpa are the molds available at the LA Sumika, right? :sweat

    59. Yep, anything that is available from the LA Sumika is available at US Dolpas. So maybe the next NY Dolpa will have sunlight skin! :D
