Volks USA Autumn 2009 Event Rush

Sep 19, 2009

1. Oooo so many beautiful new boys & girls. I love love love Williams, but I think I will put in for Miruku since I missed out on her last time. *fingers crossed*

2. Wow, that Tsukasa is to die for. :aheartbea If he were in sunlight, I would be in real trouble. Good luck to all those entering!

3. I think I'm just crazy enough to try for the Williams...:sweat Good luck to everyone else who is trying!

4. i wanna try for the Michele since i missed him in the lottery and i put in for the makeup class and a ps school head A

5. I wonder if anyone can win TWICE or more since we can put in for more than one one-off???
Alex

6. Wow! Could you imagine that kind of luck? That person would have to have some amazing cosmic karma. lol

7. And be extremely broke!!! LOL! I think I am going to put in for Ruby! I just love her face-up!!

8. Wouldnt that be super? I would be happy with one one-off! I really love Shinku, so I may try my luck.

9. They're dark red with blue tinge on the edge if you look. Can't see the brows but they look to be blue too.

10. I wondered that too, my guess would be that you can't but it doesn't say either way so you never know..

11. Good luck to you! I hope you win her. She is a beauty and would fit right in with your other girls. :)

12. I'm going to try for Shinku since she's always been my dream doll. I have terrible luck though, so I doubt I'll win.

13. I'm just going to chime in here...

*shakes fist* Damn you, Volks! Tsukasa is so freakin' pretty. And there's no way I'd be able to try for him now. *sigh* Maybe there will be a next time. :(

Good luck to all of you trying for that special girl/boy! :)

14. So if you put in for two will they put a temporary hold for the amount for both combined on your credit card?

15. I believe so. Should work like last time.

16. So I just put in my application for the workshop. Now I have to sit and wait to see if I got into the class.

17. I think that would be pretty unfair to everyone else. I hope Volks wouldn't let that happen.

18. Maybe they would let the winner choose the doll they wanted most and draw a new winner for the second doll? That would be fair.

19. I should hope they would.

20. I would think that if they drew your name for one, they would take it out of the running for any after that.

21. Congrats to the lucky ones who get to go. It looks like this event will be very exciting!

22. I want Shinku! Like really badly.
~Gus

23. I will cross all my fingers and toes for you Gus! I know she is one of your dream dolls and (selfishly) I would love to see her in person!!!! :D

24. I was thinking about the exact same thing the other night. I have no idea if one person has ever won more than one one-off (in person or the website). I am pretty sure last year on the website only 1 person won each, but who knows about the in person events. It also makes me wonder if you win one, if you get taken out of the running for the others.

Regardless, I think I am probably just gonna enter for the one (maybe 2 as there is another a really want as well, but not nearly as much or for nearly as long lol).

After searching I finally found my Volks card so I can try to win. I always get confused because I have 3 Volks membership cards and I forget which one is the most current :sweat Luckily, I still have my confirmation email from last year's wig lottery so I know which one to use.

Gus251 I feel your pain. It is so hard to find this girl! I wish they would release a limited run for her so that those of us who have been pining after her for all these years could get her. If neither of us wins our girl, lets hope it is someone on the boards so we can can enjoy more beautiful pictures of her! :aheartbea

25. At the first mansion party, someone's name was actually called twice!!! But Volks allowed the person to claim the first one-off only - and I can't remember, but was this really Volk's policy, or was it a reaction of the crowd that swayed Volks???? I remember hearing some immediate grumblings and (howling) protests from the participants!
That person is a DOA member too I think - I think I sat near her at a later event and she (or a friend of hers) related the story to the rest of the group at one of the Volks classes.
Alex

26. I remember at last year's NY Dolpa someone won a one-off as well as the special auction model. But that's not the same as winning two one-offs. I thought that at actual physical dolpas you only have one slip to put in for a one-off, so you have to choose which one to go for.

27. I remember that too. She won the both of the Midokas (spelling?) but one was an auction so it doesn't count. ;)
At the live Dolpas you only get one ticket for the one offs, but online you can put in for more than one.

28. That seems ok though because isnt the auction one usually for charity? Anyone willing to pay enough can have it and if you were nice enough to help with a big charitable contribution like that you shouldn't be punished by not being allowed to win a one-off.

29. You get one slip per guidebook, so if one buys more than one guidebook, you get more than one entrance slip.

The winner of the charity auction used several auction entrance slips last year in order to win the auction.

30. You mean the person bid against themselves?

31. Oh, well that makes sense. I've never been to a Japanese Dolpa so I've never dealt with the guidebook. :) I've only been to US functions that are modified Dolpas anyway.

I also didn't think about the functions where guests are allowed to put in for a one-off. If your guest has no interest in buying one, they could easily give you their slip and you end up with multiple entries. So I guess it's not at all a stretch, other than the odds, that someone could win more than one.

32. This makes me wish I lived in Cali >.< I really want to attend a workshop to at least get a School A head :( And at this rate I don't know if I'll be able to come up with enough money to go in for the Tsukasa... Bills suck :...(

~Pandora~

33. Slips on guidebooks are for one-off entry. Charity auction is determined by highest bid.

Also at physical NY Dolpa we would get one slip for one-off to write your name in but some people were not using their ticket and let their friends enter more than once for the doll they really wanted. I'm not sure if Volks would check for duplicates then put the entries in the box to do the raffle.

wickedstitchery: It was Madoka (basically the same mold as Shizu)

34. Hmm...it seems like the online event is run differently than the in person events. Has Volks ever done online one-offs for any of their other sites or is this unique for the USA? Either way, I feel pretty darn lucky for the chance to enter for a one off. I am getting so nervous! I am trying to not get my hopes up too much because I know my chances are slim, but it is still a lot of fun just to participate in the even. ^_^ I also can't wait to see the limited items they are going to have latter on. <3

35. NabeeRain: Just volksusa last year for one-off online it was their first test. It is a unique offering to North American customers. Chances on the online event are actually less slim than most Japanese dolpas

36. Were they BOTH Madokas??? I remember that the charity one was - G won them both, and shes a DOA member....
The first mansion party was the only USA event where I could recall that Volks officially permitted people to put in for more than one one-off, before this upcoming one....
Alex

37. We were all given one charity auction slip as well at the NY Dolpa to place a bid, and I clearly remember the winner being outbid at least once and using other people's slips to rebid.

38. (Edit for correction:)
nathankatt: It was two mermaid not two Madokas. Photos from last year

39. Kim: I also vaguely remember Volks announcing the current bid on the auction during the party. So I can't see why they would do that unless it was allowed to bid even without the slip.

40. The blue one was actually a Cristal, not a Madoka.

41. Kim: You're right I was wondering why they don't look quite the same. I'm not the expert on large dolls. So it was not two Madokas but 2 mermaids that were won last year by the same person

42. From what I remember that was written on the slip, and I might still have it since I was not at all interested Madoka as drunken Carnival mermaid and saved all the stuff from the dolpa since I have a sister who works on scrapbooking pages for a doll album for me, you were supposed to put your maximum bid and then place it in the box, and they would say the high bid as new slips were placed in as people bid throughout the day. I know someone who held off on bidding on the Madoka until she saw what the rest of the one offs were. It was definitely not run as a regular auction. If they discourage winning multiple one offs with your guest's entry slips, it seemed a little off to not discourage using their slips during the auction as well.

43. Kim: I think they provided the one auction slip to everyone to encourage bidding. Providing more than one slip would waste paper. I wasn't interested in the Madoka but I think if you wanted to bid higher why would Volks discourage it. They definitely were not providing multiple one-off tickets though.

44. At least for this event we know you can only enter for each doll once but can enter for multiple dolls. We don't know what would happen if the same person gets chosen for multiple dolls.

45. Thank you Aree~ I knew I remembered they were mermaids and one was a Madoka. I thought they both were. They do look different. Both have the best costumes. :)

46. AreeElf thank you for the info ^_^ Yep I figured any on line chances events have slimmer chances than in person only events. But, it is still fun to try ^_^ I hope one of these days to make it to a Volks event in person (I actually planned to go to the NYC event, but that didn't happen). I still really appreciate having on lines events too for those of us that cannot fly out to LA for the workshops.

47. NabeeRain: Online US events have better chances that real live Japanese dolpa. But less than a live US dolpa.

48. Can anyone remember if last year's one-offs were displayed at VolksUSA prior to the entry time for the lottery? I do know that they were displayed for a while afterward. It sure would be nice to get some feedback from people who could actually see the one-offs in person before we have to make our choices. It is really going to be a tough decision this year -- so many fabulous dolls!:love

49. A lot of the SATO FCS services are going to be in trouble :P

50. Darn, it's Oct 1. I've been so caught up with school, work, and vacation that I didn't realize this was going on. Is it too late to sign up? Maybe I should give the store a call...

It looks like fun. It's local enough for me to attend. Glad that Volks has not forgot about their west coast (LA area) customers.

51. I forgot about the deadline too. Humm.

52. Lately my luck had been very bad with volks lottery >.<
I hope all my luck has been saved up just for this time >.> (so many one-offs to die for

53. Hopefully we will get a sneak at the limited/special items tomorrow! I wonder if the lottery will be starting tomorrow or they will just let us have a look at them and gives us a date for the lottery to enter for them. I will be kinda sad if it is before the One-off lottery since I want to save my money up just in case. Oh well, knowing me I will blow my money on the limited/special items anyway lol.

54. Oh, definitely I plan to splurge on any of the limited/special items that I fall in love with. No holding back. >=D

55. There are so many wonderful items! In the lottery terms, it says "4. You can enter for as many items as you like and you may also enter for multiples of one item." So that means we can put in multiple entries for each item!

56. Hmm...I wonder about the items that there are only 1 of? I wonder than if only one of your entries count or the number of your entries can only be up to how many of a certain item there are? Meaning, if there are 3 of a certain dress, you can only enter up to 3 times? That would make the most sense to me.

EDIT: nvm I see it now ^_^

57. I hope there are lots of SD16 and MSD outfits available. SDs and Yos get too much love. D=

58. Now that I think about it, Volks should clarify which items have 1 in stock and which ones have multiple quantities. It's nice we can put in for multiple entries but they should also make it clear of how many entries are allowed since I could just keep entering over and over again.

59. So there aren't any pictures of the actual outfits up yet, right? I see the designers and there are some I really like. Just want to make sure I'm not missing a link that has pictures of the outfits :sweat
