I think with WLD they get there dolls around the same time as volks usa. because they are shipped in the same container as theirs.

 

As far as I know you are totally right. However, you do still have to wait for Volks to ship the order to WLD and then for WLD to sort everyone's order, package it up and mail it out! it can take a little longer but it's never been a huge deal.

No problem about the helping- people willing to help out is the best part of DoA.

 

Oh no, I'm going to be in Japan right after this Dolpa! Does anyone know if they have information up yet about when the items will be available for Japan afterevent / for sale at the Sumika stores? I don't need any of the dolls, but I would really like to pick up one of the outfits while I'm there if it's possible...

 

We have been at Dolpa yesterday!!! Will write a description later because our return flight is tomorrow. But my husband uploaded some pictures here also while unattended he bought a bunch of dolls that now I don't know what to do with especially since they don't fit in our luggage...

According to the Volks blog it sounds like the DP30 after event is going to be held on January 18th.

OMG! Ksusha thank you so much for the awesome pictures. I have been looking for pics of the dolpa but everything is always too far away~ Thank you, thank you, thank you for linking us!

 

Ryo and Akira look amazing! I thought I could enter for both but got hit by end of year stuff and now I don't think I can get either! Here's hoping it won't be too difficult to get them in the aftermarket.

 

I've been checking y!J just to see what their default faceups are like (they look pretty nice! Akira has the manliest eyebrows for a tiny, ever.) and there were at least double the number of Akiras floating around than the Ryos, he at least should be pretty easy to grab.

I managed to score an Akira through the WLD lotto! Wish I'd had the presence of mind to decide that I really did want a Ryo before their lotto entry period was over, since I don't think I'll have to pay sales tax on Akira since WLD isn't located in my state? Possibly having that option for Ryo would've been great too.
I wound up entering the Volks USA lotto for Ryo at the last minute... Crossing my fingers!

Congratulations Astro​! You're halfway to completing the Devil Man set! I'm tempted to enter for at least Ryo in the International After Event but it might mean having to eat ramen for a month hahah and I would love to see shots from all the lucky people who won their dolls. User pics are somehow more lovelier than the stock pics.

I'll be entering the International Lottery - can't wait for Jan. 18th! Still trying to make up my mind whether I really want Akira, though, or if I would prefer the Cyborg 009 Isao ... He looks really cute, too. Of course I could enter for both but since I can't afford both, I'd be in trouble if I actually happened to win both ...

 

Worth it!!
I tried for a month to convince myself that I really didn't want him and that all ended really poorly and after a massive debate and testing out my finances I figured I'd just do it to see what happens. Of course now I'm in so deep that if I don't win him through Volks USA, I'll try for the international lotto for him too.
As for user pics, I found a whole bunch of all the dolls in dolpa reports but I don't have the time this morning to go collect them again this morning. I'll try to remember to dig a number of them up for everyone once I get home from work.

I'm glad that the prices all seem fairly steady so far and at least on y!J they aren't horribly over the original price/some of the BINs are actually lower. Of course I've seen a few that are marked up unreasonably high but that seems fairly standard for this hobby.

I found my invoice from WLD this morning in my paypal inbox (sent last night, apparently) but it's already been canceled? It certainly wasn't me that did that.
I sent them an email already, hopefully they'll sort if out ASAP because I want to be 100% confirmed for Akira!
Has anyone else had any issues with their WLD invoices?

 

WLD confirmed that I won and told me to contact her about payment method. So I left email and voice mail saying I definitely wanted belldandy and she sent me the invoice the following day. She gives 24 hours to pay, otherwise it goes to the next customer.

 

That makes sense. It doesn't say anywhere in the initial email how long you have to pay and unfortunately my work schedule + needing to sleep can sometimes keep me away from a computer for over 24 hours at a time. If I'd known that, I would have told her in advance that it might take me slightly longer than 24 hours to pay but definitely intend to do so as soon as I get to one.
Regardless, 24 hours hadn't even passed before the invoice had been canceled so ???

Luckily I got it all sorted our and have paid. Now the waiting game begins!

 

Oh that's good! Maybe she needs to at least hear back from you, since there might be people who are wishy washy about their decision somewhat.

I've been pretty firm in my I WANT TO PAY YOU, PLEASE SEND ME MY INVOICE since before she even sent the invoice, but obviously in a business with a bunch of flaky patrons you really can't trust them. I'm honestly willing to pay for the whole thing now (and would prefer to do that) just to get it out of the way. Then the only thing I'd have to pay later on would be the shipping once it has been calculated.
It'd help a lot of she had clearer instructions + terms and conditions written either in the email or on the WLD website. As it is now it is rather vague and confusing. Now that I'm properly awake I calculated how long the invoice had been in my paypal inbox and it had been 18 hours since it was sent and I found it. It was canceled somewhere during that time period. Is she only giving us a 12 hour window to pay?

Debra & We Love Dolls is wonderful to work with. I have never, ever had an issue. I did not wait for an invoice and went ahead and calculated the downpayment & sent through Paypal right away. I have had issues with Paypal invoices through certain merchants so perhaps that is what is happening? I would just wait to hear from her before worrying too much -OR- you can always call her- the number is listed on the WLD contact page here.

The latter is probably what I would do if I were really worried!

I do think that the problem was probably on Paypal's account because I can't imagine any seller purposefully cancelling an invoice after such a short period of time. I'm just glad it got worked out, and so quickly at that!

Will do!! I can't decide if I want to keep her default or have her face-up redone custom, but if I did she would still be Belldandy, just by a custom artist, so she wouldn't look like every other Belldandy. I am so in love with the sculpt, regardless.

 

My Volks order status for Belldandy went from 'this is a Lottery Entry' to 'this is a Pre-Oder'... I wonder what that means? D=

woo hoo! sounds like good news. custom make up sounds fun too. However I wish they kind of all ready added the tattoo instead of us trying to figure out how to place it perfectly XD. But I guess it's interesting to see her non tattooed face.

 

Just got a second email from Volks... Apparently for $55, they'll do the decals and seal them in for you. This is on top of their other Satogaeri services and will add a month to the delivery time frame.

 

Can't wait for the 18th when the international lottery opens! Although I have to say if I don't win Akira in the lottery then I probably won't go for him on the second hand market ...

It seems there was a lot of Belldandys in YJA, not so much at this moment, but they didn't seem to go for ridiculous prices, pretty much stayed the same. So even if after event doesn't work out there's always YJA. But here's hoping that you win her in after event. If you do you will get her soon after winning, its all ready made in the japan website.

Oh I didn't know they offer the decal service. But I don't think WLD is able to do sagatori services. poop, okay here goes trying to find a dust free area

 

Oh boo, I was wondering if the stuff from the AE would come sooner than through VUSA or WLD. I'm so impatient, I'm gonna go crazy waiting until April.

I got an email from VUSA offering a preorder for a Midi boy body to go with my Yo-Midi Ryo. I'm sort of tempted to take them up on the offer, but at the same time I'd want a Midi body for my Akira too, so I guess I'll just pass on it for now.

 

Has anyone decided to go for the service that attaches the decals on? Since I got her through WLD I don't have that option of the application of the tattoos. Quite frankly I am actually getting nervous about applying it myself. I need like a dust free zone, and I have never worked with decals. I have seen snippets of people working on it, however I really don't have experience. Also to seal with the spray makes me nervous because even if you put masking tape, it would make a faint line between the masking tape and the new sprayed layers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Oh and let me know if any of you guys decided to get the service done by Volks for those who won through them.

 

International lottery approaches - and fast - and I still can't make up my mind whether to enter for Akira or Ryo ... Can't enter for both since if I should happen to win both, I'd be in trouble cos I can't afford both. Still determined not to buy any of them on the second hand market, though.

But for another question: Astro, you posted VUSA offered you a Midi body to buy with your Ryo. How much did they ask for it? Just wondering ...

 

The going price for a new one from Volks is $363, it seems. I'm still thinking on it, but I guess that I'd want a Midi body for both Akira and Ryo, and since I can only get one through the offer it kind of makes more sense to just save the money and maybe just pick a few up on the aftermarket once Midis become more popular and more bodies are around? Plus, I've always wanted tinies! I don't need more minis.

As for Akira or Ryo, if you do decide to change your mind and want to buy one on the aftermarket, there are about twice the number of Akiras floating around on Y!J than the Ryos, so I feel like he'd probably be easier to get later on. (but personally, I'd go with Akira because dang, he's cute and so interesting with that little crooked grin!)

Set my alarm clock for 4am this morning so I could enter the lottery early. Got up, stumbled to my computer, switched it on and entered for Akira. He won in the end - now I hope I win him cos if I don't, I'll kick myself for not going for Ryo.

Hmmmm ... I guess I'd like a Midi body for Akira. Just a question of whether I got enough money, should they offer them to international lottery winners, too. But right now, I can't wait for 21st to find out if I won. My first Volks lottery ...

 

I am confuse, can anyone explain something please, it's been a long time since I enter an after event but you use to check out and get the item, now is like another lottery?

Khell, good luck to you with AE! As far as I know I don't remember for Volks to offer any optional orders with the dolls at AE ever. It's only available when you get dolls at Dolpa or sometimes trough VolksUSA but not always.

ponygery, it was always a lottery but now they don't ask for your payment information when you enter the lottery, so don't worry about this.

 

Years ago the after event on the international site was not a lottery, if you manage to put the item in your shopping cart you could check out, people were always angry and upset because items were sold within seconds and the website used to crash all the time, but I guess they switched to the lottery system. Is better in a way.

ponygery, ah, I see what you mean, it's still like this but it only works with Tenshi-no-Sumika items (clothes, shoes and so on) but dolls were always by lottery.
