Volks Tenshi-no-Sumika Fair & Standard Model Fair

What?? They are discontinuing SD Nono? Really? I thought Nono was one of the popular SD molds after the sisters... But I love the fact that they are making the MSD F-04 mold into a standard model! I love that mold :-)

I can't believe they are discontinuing Nono, I had no idea she was so unpopular. And Hisui/Kohaku is one of my favorite MSD molds ever! It seems that the more "anime" style head molds (not dolls, as Sara and Maggie are the same molds as other standards) are getting discontinued. Luckily my sis and I already have Hisui and Nono in the house, but still, sadness. ;_;

I'm not too surprised about Link though, I don't think he has ever been very popular, poor boy.

But it is nice to see new standards!

Volks improved their photogragh technique, lol~ The default pictures at this time looked very nice.
I like Kun's new look, she is the most lovely SDGirl to me. And even Mark looks better in his new faceup.
For the discontinuing molds I hope volksusa will restock some of them, or take pre-order at least.

 

I am really sad about all these discontinued dolls! Link most especially. He's such a unique guy and now that means the only standard SD13 boy is Syo. Hope they have a new SD13B in the works!

I'm a little disappointed that the "new" MSDs are simply FCS heads. I am in the minority but Volks MSDs are my favorite type of doll and I want to see more new heads!

To end this on a positive note, I absolutely adore the new makeup. Myu looks SO cute! Even though I already have a SwD Myu and a Magie I sort of want a 2010 Myu now ^^;.

I'm kinda sad that they are discontinuing Link and Ryo, those are two of my favorite molds. I hope they will at least replace them with some new boys though.

 

I'm not really surprised about Hisui and Kohaku since it seems they're trying to get rid of their Anime styled dolls ... But Link is super surprising o.O

I hope there's some new MSD heads in the works for the FCS @-@

 

I'm surprised that SD Sara and MSD Magie are off the standard list. The other models with the same molds are still around. Pretty odd. O__o

 

Thanks for the info! I didn't know the Sumika Fair was coming up so quickly! I'm really happy that there will be new MSD kits available. I absolutely adore the F-19.

Yeah but if you notice they only have 2 of each head mold now, one with a dark wig, one with a light wig. They just got rid of the medium color I guess...

Nono was the first girl I truely fell for. It is just really odd for me that they are discontinuing 2 of the original 5, and one is a 4 sisters!
I am pretty sure it will all make more sense soon, but for now, I'll just be sad.

Nooo!!! They can't retire Nono!!! Not Nono!!! I thought she was their most popular mold in Japan!! They can't, they just can't retire her!! I will be so sad on the day she isn't a Standard Model anymore.

On the bright side, Mire is sooo cute!!! I've always loved the MSD F-04 mold, and now she'll actually be a Standard Model!!! So much cuteness for a smaller price!! Woo-hoo!!!

I can't wait to see what molds will be added to Sumika FCS!! Here's hoping for SD F-32!!!

 

I'm pretty sure Kun is the most popular standard girl in Japan. I'm a little sad that all these familiar standards are being discontinued, but they'll still be available through FCS.

I like these renewal faceups on the standards than I did the last go round. Elena looks especially cute.

 

Count me in a surprised too that Volks will discontinue Nono.

I like the softer look of the new renewal faceups. Especially Yori. I really disliked her 2008 ver. faceup and she's such a cute model that doesn't seem to get much attention. (I miss my Yori sometimes...) I think I like Syo's 2008 ver. expression more than this ver. though.
It's really cool that they are offering faceup options on the MSD's!

I love Yori's new faceup, her expression seems so much softer. I didn't really like her previous default faceup. She looks a lot more like the FCS F-23 I'm planning to do !

Wow, the times they ARE a-changin! We never see enough of Link on this side of the world anyway... now he will be getting to be even rarer. What a shame. And I am extra surprised to hear about Sara & Nono, as they've always been so popular. But, I suppose they have to make room somehow.

 

Wow, I love the direction these new faceups are going, especially Nana and Kun! If I didn't already have an F-22, this would have pushed me over the edge to buy a standard Kun... As it is, I'm sorely tempted by Nana. I just love those glossy lips!

 

I am so saddened by this. Nono was my first SD =( I am glad she will still be a FCS though. I am also sad they are discontinuing Sara. Now there are only 2 of the original 4 sisters left as standards.

Maybe she is most popular as a FCS system doll instead of as a standard? I have noticed most of the new Nono's I have seen the past couple years have all been FCS. I am sure they would rather them discontinue her then have them made and sit there with no one buying them (you do not have this problem of course with FCS).

Looking on the bright side, I do like the new standards and the new make up is very lovely

 

It may be just me, but I personally think that the F-04 mold has an anime style to it too :-S (But I love the mold!)

Well, still, I'm sad that Nono is being discontinued. As sumomo123 says, Nono is one of the original that helped start off the company... :-(

Me too...she's my only Volks SD-10, and hers was the face that lured me to the hobby. I was under the impression that she was one of the most popular Volks girls, I know so many people that came to BJD collecting because of her. This makes me very sad.

Wow. I'm speechless. Nono (along with Kurumi) was the first BJD I saw, she was the doll that got me into this hobby, I simply can't believe Volks is discontinuing her T^T NOT FAIR.
I don't understand why they "discontinue" Sara either (even though they'll still have Megu and Nana, personally Kira is my favorite of the four kind of stupid since they're the same mold...)....can't wait to see what those limited outfits look like. I'm glad I'm not into MSDs (though they look so cute) since I'm broke from the last dolpa >_<;;;

 

Oh I just love the new faceups! This may be what I needed to prompt me to get a Rinon or Elana.

 

Looking forward to seeing what new changes are made to the FCS line-up!
I don't understand the upset over the discontinued dolls when they're all still available through FCS, though. Given the choice between a standard and a custom doll painted to my specifications, I'd pick the custom every time! Not surprising that Volks would try to streamline their inventory wherever possible. That's a lot of materials, shipping and labor costs that could be eliminated to give the company more financial flexibility in an increasingly cutthroat marketplace. FCS shopping services will be there ready to pick up the slack, no doubt.

 

Seeing all the boxes in Sumika of even the pre-2008 standards was always a little sad, too.

I think with the economy as it is today, Volks is probably making the best decision by decreasing the number of their standard SD/SD13 molds. This does make their decision to release F04 and F19 as new standard MSDs even more confusing, since people can buy these same MSD molds through FCS. And I thought MSDs were not as popular either. Maybe these MSD molds are more popular than Hisui/Kohaku and more popular in general, so Volks decided to make them standard?

I think I'm most excited about how the VolksUSA FCS lineup wil be improved after this event, since they usually make Sato-only molds more widely available after each Model Fair. My hopes are that the human ear option and both SD F36 and F40 come to VolksUSA!

 

It looks like I will be buying my Link sooner rather than later! I'm sad to see that he is being discontinued as a standard.

 

I am also sad they are getting rid of Nono, but at least she will still be available for FCS, if they got rid of there I would be super sad. She was also my first BJD and I still love her and her anime style big melon head I have both SD Nono and Yo-SD Nono

 

I'm really shocked that Nono is being discontinued! I'm glad that I took the opportunity to buy her when I did. If I would have kept waiting I would have had to order her FCS--and even though it's technically the same head, there's also something that's not quite the same. I can understand why they're retiring some of the standards, but it's still a bit sad.

I am very excited to see Mire (F-04) as a standard! Now I'm thinking about getting another MSD. x_+ Before I located my Nagisa, I was seriously considering an FCS order for F-04.

 

Daniel Falls, the MSDs are very neglected IMO in the Volks lineup, but there are many fans out there. I think that Volks viewed them as "starter" dolls for a long time but they are beginning to see how popular they really are.

 

Oh, there is a lot of good news here! MSDs are my favorite size and Volks are some of the best MSD sculpts in my opinion. I am happy to see them paying more attention to their MSDs by releasing the FCS heads as standards. I think their f19 standard is adorable, and ironically I didn't like f19 before now, haha. Guess I never saw the right owner pics.

I am loving the new faceups. I'm thinking of getting a Nana soonish. And maybe a Kun. And Yuuto? Arrrgh, my pockets are grieving, Volks!

 

As others have mentioned, we are really hapy to see she is actually still around via FCS, but like MilkyTea said, there is just something different when you want a standard Nono. It's almost like when you order the Nono head via FCS, she is no longer an actual 'Nono' if that makes any sense. lol

I'm a little sad Nono is going to be discontinued, I have been admiring her for a long time.

Any thoughts on if the MSD faceup option would be available for if/when this event comes to VolksUSA? I love Mire, and the only reason I don't have a MSD yet is because a faceup isn't an option and I don't want to paint them myself. ^-^;

 

St. James For me personally, I find it a little sad because she was my first SD girl. If she had not been a standard, I would not have purchased her. Becoming FCS only makes her harder for those new to the hobby to obtain. Think of it this way, when I was first starting out I was comfortable sending $600 to Volks International website for a doll I would receive within a week. I would not have felt comfortable sending over $900 for a doll to a stranger to go order her for me at a store where I would have to wait several months for her to arrive. So, if she had not been a standard she would not have been my first SD. Becoming FCS means she is a little bit harder to obtain and perhaps others will not have the joy of owning her as their first doll the way I did. I still know many people who are more comfortable ordering directly from a company instead of commissioning someone to purchase a doll for them. I hope that makes sense lol! Sometimes I tend to be a little long winded.



On a different note, I love the new MSD standards! I must say I love MSD's and having new standards is so awesome!
I wonder how long it will take for them to show up at VolksUSA?

 

I second that. Yes, Nono may be available through the FCS, but having her discontinued would make it harder and longer to obtain than a standard... Which is kind of surprising to me, because even when considering the economy and whatnot, I wonder if taking Nono off the standard lineup would help, because as far as I know, she is one of the well-known and popular molds... Well, we don't know what's really going on within the company, and I'm sure they made their decisions after lots of consideration.

 

I'm the same way, NabeeRain; I prefered the standard to FCS even though I knew the FCS would be personalized and customized to my liking. However, this works in Volks' favor in regards to the new MSD standards: I liked MSD F-04, but didn't really want to order FCS...but now that she's going to be a standard I'm wondering if I might purchase Mire. X3 She's awfully cute! &#9829;

 

My thoughts exactly, Nabee!!! You've said it much better than I would have!! While I love the idea of a white-skinned custom Nono, I'd rather have the convenience of being able to order her as a Standard and save money at the save time! Volks' Standard Model line just won't seem the same without Nono.

On the flip side, Mire is sooo adorable!!! I love the MSD F-04 mold, and now I won't have to order it through FCS!! I hope they release more FCS molds as Standards!!! I can't wait to see which heads will be added to Sumika FCS!! I'm hoping for SD F-32 and MSD F-27.

 

The LA Sumika carries all of VOLKS standards as far as I know . . . I can't think of any reason they wouldn't carry these new MSDs too.

When I was new to this hobby, I found that I loved a _lot_ of VOLKS limited sculpts, but only one of their standard SD13s - and he was my favorite of all standard dolls at the time. I am very glad that I got my Link (<- That's him over there - his name is Kisho-Ryuu, and he's pretty excited about his upcoming trip home to Tenshi-no-Sato) when I did. Link is a funny guy - there are a lot of really snarky looking ones, but Kisho's not. He's got a sort of a gentle smile...

Funny that Link would still be so unpopular even with the trend towards releastic looking sculpts this days! I really think link is very releastic for a volks mold (esepcially when you compare him with some with some of the most popular Volks boys these like Genji and Williams with their too-good-to-be-true bishounen looks) with his face that isn't quite a perfect beauty, he looks just like a real boy.

 

SD Ryo was and is still my first doll. Though the standard version of him will be discontinued I'm glad that he won't be totally gone. I still want to order another him but as an FCS so I could have a tanned female version of him to be a twin sister.

That is not a stupid question. The ways of Volks are mysterious. I would think they will be released for the event first, then they will be made available to the US market. They are meant to be standards, so yes, you will be able to buy her from the store in CA.

 

It might be the faceup, it might be the photography or lighting, or it might be the mold. The mold seems to change over time (either due to the duplication process or Volks make slight alterations).

 

o woah this is pretty interesting news! I wasnt too crazy about msd's but they are soooo cute!!~ I can see why they would retire sara. I mean they have the other two which are the same anyway so taking out one and maybe replacing her is understandable. I wonder whats new in store for this/next year!!~~~ More dollies more dollies !!~

As long as Volks still offers them in FCS but I'm surprised by their decision. I believe nono's were the first to have a sweet dreams version, even before the four sisters.

Arella, Cammy, and MilkyTea I am glad to know others feel the same way. It is sad that she is being diso(ignore me, my vocabulary is underdeveloped)inued, but I know that now I will treasure my standard edition girl all the more (and count myself lucky for getting her at such a great price)

I really do like the F04....soooo cute! I am still waiting for my NYC Dolpa MSD FCS, but nce she arrives I might have to start saving to get her an F04 sister I also am excited to see what new editions will be added to FCS.

Though it's sad they are retiring Nono as a standard and Hisui too but at least they are still keeping them in the FCS lineup. FCS is more expensive but at least it keeps second prices market prices of the existing dolls levelled. So they are not totally gone. It also doesn't keep Volks from at some point reusing the Nono mold in a future limited.

I just hope they eventually add new standards to fill the void.

I really like that they added the faceup option on the kits. I think it would help sell the kits. Assembly of dolls are not as daunting as giving faceups. The new faceup on Myu makes me see her resemblance to Shizuku.

I try to see the positive side of retirement as much as I still admire the old molds for their history seeing new molds show up that fit the current tastes can attract those new to the hobby.

On the more on-topic I hadn't even thought of an FCS Nono not being the same as a standard Nono. Usually even with limiteds I go out of my way to make my dolls more my own so the first thing I do is change their eyes, hair, and sometimes I even add faceup enhancement.

I guess never really look at it as buying that doll as the character Volks sold it as I tend to embrace the customization aspect.

 

There's nothing to worry about!!! *big hugs* Let's just get back to squeeing about the new MSDs and hoping for our favorite Sato heads to be added to Sumika FCS!!!

Which Sato-only heads to you want to be added to Sumika FCS, everyone? I would be sooo happy if SD F-32 became a Sumika head!!!

 

I'm happy that the MSD F19 is being made into a standard. I always thought it was a cute sculpt.
Now if they could just make the MSD F07 standard, I'd be over the moon. That one has always reminded me of a mini Four Sisters/Syo, I'm a little surprised it's not more popular.

When I first fell in love with Super Dollfie, and I learned that Nono Sweet Dream was sold out, I desperately wanted a whiteskin FCS Nono as my first doll! I'll miss Nono as a Standard, but maybe this way I'll have an excuse to splurge and get the white-skinned Nono I always wanted!!!

I love MSD F-07 too!!! I'm so surprised there isn't more of them around!!
