Of course as soon as I type this and log into the Volks store, I realise I won Prince Claude. My first lottery win!

 

Having breakfast, checked my email. I won Crystal! I NEVER win doll lotteries let alone a one-off. I'm a fan of the SDGr girls and guys. Maybe she's not super popular, but I like her a lot with this subtle makeup. She fits right in with several of my crew.

Mother SD has also blessed me for the first time internationally! I won the SD17 Alain! I'm so thrilled, he's a sculpt I really admire though he isn't too popular

Apologies if this is a silly question, but I can't seem to find where the lotto doll line up was. The only thing I'm finding is this: 2023 Holiday Greeting Event Super Dollfie(R) One-off Model Lottery | VOLKS USA, INC. and it doesn't list the dolls people here have won!

 

This lottery was on the JP/international Volks store and the listings for the dolls seem to be hidden now – I was only able to find them via the lottery entry section on My Page.

Just got an email from the Volks USA Holiday One-off Lottery -- I won the SDM F-61! Should arrive in time for my birthday in January! Anyone else get some good news from Volks USA ?

For any JP/international One-off or Best Selection winners, Volks should be starting to send the dolls out on the 2nd of December.

I'm hoping mine is going through DHL instead of EMS even if I have to pay customs because having a package sit in limbo for a week courtesy of Australia Post is an experience I'd rather not have again!

 

FWIW everything I’ve bought from Volks for the past year or so has shipped via EMS (including a full doll in a huge box). I am actually the opposite here - the experience I had in 2020 where I had to pay a hefty ransom fee for DHL is something I hope I never have to do ever again so I will happily take waiting an extra week in comparison. ;_;

On a different topic, it’s pretty likely we’ll get the next Princess announced at the end of the upcoming Dolpa, right? I’m really curious if it’s Belle or Jasmine - it would be weird to release those special shoes for them earlier in the year otherwise…?

They only notify the winners now, and it can take up to two weeks (probably if there is non-payment from a winner and they need to select an alternate). So there is still hope!

Crawling out from under my lurker rock to add to the US lottery list. I...definitely did not expect to win. At all. To the point that when I saw the email in my inbox this morning, I just saw "Volks" and "One-Off Model" and immediately assumed it was an announcement about a new set of one-off auctions coming up in the near future. I completely managed to filter out the "Invoice" part of the email subject until after I opened it.

I'll be bringing home Alice.

For anyone who won JP/International Best Selections or One-offs, mine have shipped today (and my Yo-Lieselotte preorder but she's OT for this thread) instead of starting tomorrow as the original listing said.
Now the obsessive tracking refreshing begins...

 

Oof does anyone know when the Volks USA Sapphires are meant to ship? I lost my email. I thought it was "Winter 2023" but I'm not sure. And if it is - does anyone have experience with "Winter" dates from Volks? Does that mean strictly within 2023 or could it actually be next year as it's still Winter then (in the northern hemisphere anyway)?

 

I thought they shipped a while back..? @BeyondTime is someone I know who won her through USA and he said his shipped at the end of October, and has photos of her from early November. Silly question, but have you paid for her?

That’s weird, my friend got the Boyhood Cecile from that same release via volks USA and had him in either November or early December. I don’t know if Will was different though.

 

I finished a month of daily Williams drawings and decided I will be entering for him. May Mother SD recognize my efforts.

Whoa. Oh my god. I understand that wigs can be annoying, but... this is not the way!! Say goodbye to custom hardcap wigs! And will this even work for all kinds of stretchy wig caps, or just Volks ones? Also I feel like handling the head will be really uncomfortable? It takes many hours to do a faceup, my fingers are totally going to rub against that awkward chunk sticking out on the back. Not to mention that BJDs have been moving in a direction of hiding the "doll" elements like joints and string channels when possible. Even though the vast majority of doll heads get covered with hair, it would bug me to have these random protrusions on my doll's head.

Maybe I'm being dramatic but I really, really dislike this design and I can't believe it got put into production without even, like, polling fans or something first??

Maybe we should pretend this is like buying an unoa kit where you have to remove the casting gate at the top of the head yourself. I'd really prefer they don't add this to all future heads.

 

Yeah that's a no from me...I prefer silicone wig rings to sticking-out resin bits...

 

Well, I don't hate it, I don't mind my dolls to look like dolls, it will be covered, and seems easy enough to cut off. But I don't really see the benefits.
It doesn't look much easier to put on the wig. And it seems like tight fitting wigs won't work with it... most of my Volks wigs have been challenging to squeeze on the dolls and are not very elastic.
Maybe you won't get surprise baldy moments, but there are other grips you can use that are less obtrusive, and you can take them off if you're using a tighter wig. Unlike these.
I like that they are trying to innovate. But I'm thankful that none of my dolls have this gimmick.

 

Uhhhhh.... just no on that resin wig stopper. good grief.

 

This feels like one of those bad infomercial inventions...
"DO YOU STRUGGLE WITH PUTTING ON YOUR DOLLS WIG?!" *dramatically missing the head every time resulting in the doll being flung across the room* INTRODUCING TENSHI NO BUMPIT! The easy to use, ugly mechanism to hook on your doll's hairpiece, and give them that extra lift no one asked for!

Oh Volks... I do admire their innovative spirit, but I think this is too drastic of a solution to a very easily remedied problem. I hope that they limit this innovation to just this release...

Those things are.. really something. And not in a good way.

If they end up putting those things on everyone's head in the future, the dremel tool and I will be having some very pointed conversations with any new Volks arrivals in the crew. I just don't like the look of them at all.

 

Aaaa, I just made the final payment on my Cecile and his body already arrived too! It was a steal from Y!J at only 60 cad.

I'm hoping the holiday post isn't too slow so I can bring him with me when I travel to my friend's on New year's.

I am shocked how solid this body is though, and how narrow the channels were when I was restringing it.

 

Payment was due 9/18, so if she wasn't paid for, that would explain it. Mine was on my doorstep on Nov 1st, but it's always possible there were ready dolls from Japan that arrived early, and dolls still in production that are due to ship in the Winter.

Wow, don't get me wrong, I love her in the red wig, but she looks so good in that grey one!

 

Does anyone know when we might know or see the next Disney doll? I thought they were usually revealed at Dolpa, but there was no reveal for one. I'm on the edge of my seat to know who the next one is. I feel like no matter who she is, I'll have to try and take her home. I'm kicking myself for skipping on Ariel and Rapunzel, even Ana and Elsa.

Ah good to know! We might not even get one next year. I'll temper my excitement and maybe put that drive into finally getting one of the ones I missed, ha!

I agree, Jasmine would be my top vote of the remaining princesses, but I'd also go after Belle or Aurora, I know they'd be stunning. A villain would be amazing and I agree with Cloudedmind, it'd HAVE to be Maleficent!

If it's going to be awhile to maybe never for a new Disney doll from them, do you know what might be 'next' on their schedule from them? If they do something repeatedly at similar times of the year? I never paid that close to their schedules back in the day.

 

Oh that's good to know about their Disney schedule. That will give lots of time to prepare. I would think the next one would either be Belle or Jasmine given they had resin shoe releases during Dolpa49. I love when Volks displayed all 5 girls with all their location paintings during Dolpa.

 

This is the history of Volks Disney releases I could find:

• A "cosplayed" Rapunzel (SDG Lieselotte) was made in in 2013 as a one off auction. SDGr Rapunzel as a unique sculpt licensed from Disney was released in japan in 2019.
  
  
• A "cosplayed" Cinderella (SDGr Belle [the volks sculpt]) was also made in 2015 as a one off auction. SDGr Cinderella as a unique sculpt licensed from Disney was then released in japan in 2020.
  
  
• A "cosplayed" Belle (SD16 Ami Ayase) was made along with a "cosplayed" Ariel (SDGr Jun Tachibana) in 2018 as one off auctions. And disney-licensed SDGr Ariel as a unique sculpt got released to the general japan audience earlier this year (2023).
  

So I'm pretty certain they'll also make and release a disney-licensed Belle as well. It might be the next one seeing how they did the timing of the previous 3 disney princess one offs and then 5~6 years later a licensed release, so possibly next year. but not sure how they'll do the sculpt name since there already exists a Volks Belle sculpt from 2013.

I dont think Elsa and Anna had a disney expo one off auction version, but technically they don't count as official disney princesses. They were released 4/2022

Personally, i'd love to see a Jasmine but i feel like if it happens it won't be for a long time. I also would like to see Snow white, which i think is more likely to come sooner than later due to how classic she is.

 

You never know….. the same year they had a Lieselotte cosplay as Rapunzel, 2013, they also had SD17 Reisner do a Jack Skellington. So we could even be in for Jack Skellington!

…. I am hoping for Jasmine though
