Someone please tell me I'm asleep, because I think I just saw a screen shot of an SDGr Williams and SD13 Elizabeth on the next Volks News.

 

I am sad (for our wallets) to report that that is real

 

Yeah, my wallet didn't need any money in it anyway. It made friends with the dust bunnies long ago.

 

So is she a woman worth waiting 20 years for? I can't wait to see her!

I feel like Elizabeth looks... just like F-94? I'm hoping she'll be a bit different from other angles!

Does anyone happen to have Regulus as well as any of the Luts tan colors (brown, light tan, or tan) for comparison? I'm wondering if they're just as reddish as Volks Bronze? Thank you in advance!

 

Silly question, I was trying to look up the Disney dolls' info pages with all the pictures and details. . . And cannot find them? I looked under the "SD limited model special site list" and cannot find any of them in there. I was wondering if anyone else could see if they noticed the same thing? Or provide me a direct link to Rapunzel?

See pictures below! I have one with flash, and one with no-flash. As you suspected, Volks Bronze is warmer than the Light Tan. I used to have Real Skin Brown as well from Luts, but it was much lighter than both these resins. I think it was more akin to the sunlight/tan skin from Volks. I wonder if their newer tan skin tones (terra cotta, bronco, etc) might be a better match. Anyway, I hope this helps you!

@overlordu Elizabeth is Williams' sister, and up until now has been the only named character of the Oath of the Silver Coin story arc to not have a physical doll. I don't think there's been much else said about her in the story.

Super Dollfie Encyclopedia 2006 says she was Cecile's lover when they were young and has also sworn the oath of silver coin. She seems to be a pretty important girl to not appear for this many years!

 

At this point, I want Volks to hire a professional mangaka to illustrate and bring these background stories to life!!! They could have special issues and stuff released along with the dolls lol

I feel like I can finally join this thread! I put a down payment on an 2005 Scarface Cecil, who I never thought I'd ever get to own. He's my first Volks doll too despite being in the hobby since 2007. I'm so excited.

 

I may need Elizabeth's outfit for Ophelia... It'll be fun to see what people do with Elizabeth herself.

It’s a shame the recent SD best selection votings have had this 5 year cutoff (the recent DD voting this year was for all DDs), but there’s some interesting inclusions here anyway - like Haru from the 2019 Sumika fair (isn’t he a 57?) and Hyde (not sure if him winning will result in a more accessible release but it may at least indicate a demand for similar collabs).
I will be diligently voting for Captain Cecile each day.

The rerelease of dolls less than five years old seems so silly when there are popular dolls from the more distant past who’ve never had a rerelease! Where’s Reisner, hmmm?

 

The Harry Potter dolls may have wound up on the list because they were somewhat limited and difficult to get. Must say, I'd love another chance at Snape.

 

Have they ever re released Scarface Reisner? He's so hard to find.

Poor Reisner, no! If I recall correctly, Scarface Reisner had one release, and regular Reisner had two… and Scarface and the second Reisner were cruise events!

 

Dang, I suppose there goes my hopes that Scarface Reisner will ever get a re release. I suppose it's back to stalking Mandarake...

Is there a translation for the genealogy page? In Elizabeth's description it mentions 2 older brothers but I'm not sure if that's just an iffy translation and they mean Williams (her actual brother) and Cecile (who was close enough to be her brother?), or if there is an unreleased brother to Williams and Elizabeth.

 

That's what I thought. Maybe Volks will give us a definite answer. Not that it changes much for me.

I saw that to and was wondering the same thing! The genealogy page just lists Williams and Elizabeth as brother and sister, and Cecil as their childhood friend.

I can't recall any recent limited releases (with the exception of special collaboration dolls) not being available via Volks USA or Volks Int. I expect US collectors will be able to enter the lottery via both channels as usual.

 

I didn't even notice that until I read your comment and zoomed in. I guess graphic designers have a whole new suite of tools now with AI!

 

It’s actually a real background with a photoshop filter over it (seems to be the ‘oil painting’ filter). If you look at the website photo, you can see it without the filter, which reveals the ‘spaghetti’ is something like a doily on the carpet that was likely put there to cover the doll stand.
On the version with the filter, the swirly effect can be seen all over the back wall and affecting the bottom of Liz’s dress where it’s touching the carpet. It looks kinda silly so I’m not sure why they uploaded that version first, but I’m glad to know Volks aren’t actually using AI like this. (The AI translator is bad enough)
I was lukewarm on Liz at first, but I really, really love that photo of her with the teacup on the site. She has a commanding and mischievous vibe to me. Good luck to those who want her!

Edit: the JP text does say two brothers, although the word doesn’t necessarily imply a blood relation. I assumed it meant Williams and Cecile.

 

Whoa, that lip IS weird! Not only is it ugly, but it looks kinda sharp?? Honestly even if it works, I would be sorely tempted to sand it off.

 

After being generally out of the hobby for years, I stumbled upon an email from Volks announcing the end of a one -off model lottery. I entered for the Victorique de Blois. I couldn't find a thread devoted to the lottery. Is this it, or all intents and purposes? Things seem a bit changed here since I've been gone.

 

Thank you. There used to be hot threads whenever there was a lottery. We'd all hang out and bite nails together, but I think my last lottery was the one when I got Daria.
