Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXXII

Oh thank you so much. The proportion looks ok to me though. But is that suntan skin on instagram? Now I want that skin instead of white skin lol

So as I understand this head is the new head in FCS only in Japan. If I order through proxy, can I choose SDGR girl body? If yes I'll wait to find a proxy to get the tan skin

Yeah, the one on IG is the sunlight tan skin. It looks really pretty.
As far as getting the head, it is FCS in Japan only for now as it's relatively new. SDGr girl body is not available for FCS, unfortunately. The SD16 is also not available in FCS for order as a regular thing either. They've had a few special order periods where it was available but that's not common. Typically, VolksUSA offers the SD16 via online FCS once a year but I doubt we'll see F101 for a long, long time.

 

My Maximillian arrived today! I have to wait until I get home from from work to see him though! >_<

 

My Regulus came home today as well! Thankfully had the day off from work so snapped a few photos of him. Crazy enough this is my first Volks full doll. I have only had heads or really old bodies before so it took me literally 30 mins to figure out how to put on the hands because just looping the s-hook through the string and letting go sounded like disaster lmfao. Idk how it works haha magic.

Anyway here is my Regulus, Jahar my Egyptian jackal boy (need to blush his resin ears still):

 

Just opened the box and... holy moly, he is GiNORMOUS!

I've never seen an sd17 before .... I have other dolls that are considered "sd17" size - I even have a dollshe boy! But this boy. He's. Wow. He's.... a lot. Idk why I'm so shocked by him, haha. Maybe because my Megu only comes up to like, his waist.

Edit: can I just add that I think my favorite detail is the little drawers they included with the outfit? So cute!

 

@Adalaire Haha I'm the opposite! I have a bunch of 70-75cm boys and some are pretty buff (The Voice) so I was expecting the SD17 to be just as heavy since its what I am used to. But I was carrying my Reg around with one hand he felt so light to me LOL. So funny we had opposite reactions based on what we are used to.

 

@RebelViva idk, haha. All my dolls have actually been packed away for a little over a year. Maybe I've just forgotten how big they are!

It's been taking me a really long time to dress my max as I keep having to stop and marvel over all the little details in each piece of clothing I take out. I think my only nit pick so far is that the shoes he came with are entirely too big for him. Hopefully I'll have him in a state where I can post a picture or two soon.

Handsome boys @Adalaire and @RebelViva ! I think I love Max more and more seeing him in owner photos. I'm just too in love with tan resin I had to go with Regulus, but I love seeing Max's popping up.

My doll arrived too, but he was delivered to my mom's house since I moved recently. Forgot to update my shipping address when checking out... oops. Hopefully I can share him soon!

It is September 7th, so I came by with FCS date spam! Here is Ilyana, my F-97 girl, to celebrate her day

 

Thank you! She spent 3 months in a dark box because a postal delay so she is tired and melancholic =) I think change of eyes size help her cheer up.

 

@snowgray thanks!! I really lucked out in getting this outfit on the second hand market I feel it fits him so well.

@snowgray, is your cute Ilyana a rebellious type? I ask because of the tee she's wearing; where did you get it? Last month at the Resin Rose con in Oregon, I happened to find one at the swap'n'sale; one of life's funny bits of coincidence.

 

So I’ve been in this hobby since 2005 and this is the first time I’ve run into this….. but the more I look at my Max, the more dissatisfied I become. I feel like he doesn’t look at ALL like his photos. I entered the lottery for him because I absolutely fell for the face in the photos…. And the doll that arrived barely even seems like the same doll to me. All the other owner photos I’ve seen of him look just like my doll- and none of them look like the company pics? Did they just….. really fail at photographing him properly? I think most of the owner photos of other volks dolls I’ve seen look just like their company photos. Reg, for example looks just like the company photos in all the owner photos I’ve seen. At a bit of a loss. He’s beautiful, but I can’t help but be a little disappointed…..

 

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way. I actually decided to get Max because the owner pics were so different from the official ones, but I could understand the disappointment if you expected it to be exactly like the Volks photos. They seem to do odd things with their lighting and angles so it’s hard to tell if the IRL version will be the same or not.

Are you able to pin point what about him isn’t to your liking? Maybe he’ll have to be customized slightly to better fit the image you have in your mind. I’m sure there’s a solution!

 

His face in the photos looks much wider. His eyes look set further apart and his nose and mouth also appear flatter and wider….. his real face is so much narrower and his nose and lips protrude more. His real face looks a little like I’m seeing him through a fisheye lens, haha.

Edit: like, I know exactly what the issue is…. Volks took their photos with a wider lens. Like the example below: volks used the wider lens on the right, meanwhile the doll actually looks more like the photo on the left in real life…

I think the lens used for photos is actually a big factor. I had to stop and make myself look very hard at Max before I could actually see his features. The styling was so pretty that it was actually distracting. He has a totally different vibe - that owners seem to have picked up on - than the styling Volks gave him.
He's actually a really good example of why a lot of people wait for owner photos.

 

I’m so glad someone else said this I was super shocked at the difference too and now I know I’m not crazy! I haven’t really decided if I like him yet or not. Mine looks very mischievous and impish when I was expecting a much sweeter and more mature look. I also think the faceup on mine is a lot darker than the promo photos especially on his lips. I’m having a hard time styling him and photographing him. I’m tempted to try repainting him and seeing if I like him better with a different faceup.

 

Oh my gosh, I just got the email notification saying I've won Yumepi. Whaaaat?! Was not expecting that at all! I'm shocked but excited!

 

I got the rejection email for Yumepi. Super bummed. I was hoping to get my first Super Dollfie after wanting one for over 15 years. I was planning on getting the second release Mytyl except a family emergency left me unemployed for two months so I didn't. Then I thought Yumepi would be my lucky chance. I guess not. I even bought their yearly membership in anticipation. I hope they release her again next year and not another Alice/Joe/Beth/Lorina.

 

Is Macha more popular than Yumepi or vice versa? I won one, but it wasnt the one I wanted most so I wonder if a straight trade would be possible

 

I got my rejection email. I tried for Yumepi. I'm so tempted to try for VolksUSA, but I'll take it as a sign to take a break from buying more dolls this year.

 

Also got a rejection email for Macha. I'm glad to see some of you were succesful though!

@enyka From what I've seen Yumepi seems to be more popular on Japanese auction sites though not by much? From the previous release Sophie also seems more popular than Angela. But ultimately it's the clothing that makes the dolls extra expensive.

@shiro_usagi Huh, I had leaned towards Regulus since they showed his impish side with Max repainted as a back up. Guess they didn't place the eyebrows different enough? Though I found putting him in a different, longer wig seemed to soften his look a bit.

@enyka I'll echo what Lamento has already said. WS SDGr girls tend to not happen as frequently so they are a touch more popular when they do show up.

Didn't get either myself which my wallet is much relieved. Though I did like Macha's outfit.

 

I got the reject email but my credit card is pending charge? It was pending charge as well when I first registered for the lottery, and then the charge was disappear.

 

I have to admit, owners photos of Elsa were what really sold me on her. Volks pictures seem to frequently be awful for showing the doll as is.

 

The one-off preview photos are even more egregious IMO. Volks is a bit ridiculous with those, the photos on their Instagram look so different from the real dolls in sumikas/sato/mado etc.
My Victorique looked quite different from their preview photos. Her eyes look very bright blue in their photo (right) but irl they're more of a muted blue purple (left)

OMG that's super exiting news. Now I'm very glad I do not have any dolls on order currently . I'm sure whatever they'll release will be awesome.

If they’re going to do a pair again, I feel like Marie Antoinette and von Fersen are the most likely picks.

 

I’m so glad I told myself no more new dolls (let’s hope my self control is strong enough) because some of y’all have me real tempted with these photos. And Volks teasing more Rose of Versailles? A very good test of control.

I’m going to post a photo of my two Link customs because this project has snowballed in the most delightful way. I started out wanting to make elf ears so I could have a Link from The Legend of Zelda games, then I ended up making a whole lot more. I just finished modding his arm and am almost done with this look. Next will be finishing up the other (grumpy) Link and getting even more outfits made. My creativity hasn’t seen an outlet this fluid in years.

 

Watch the new RoV doll be Loulou just to confuse everybody.

 

I tried both Yumepi and Macha and didn't win. Hopefully I will have more luck on VolksUSA..

 

Honestly, I'm just hoping for a plain old Oscar and Andre re-release... I still want an Andre that doesn't cost me an arm, both legs and 70% of a kidney, darn it.

 

My new Rose of Versailles dolls theory:

* Marie Antoinette in pink (gems on the fan indicate this to me)
* Hans Axel von Fersen (the green coloring and fanciness of that sword can be nothing else, IMO)
* Oscar re-release in her blue uniform

I have my custom Marie and almost finished with my Fersen, but I certainly want the official versions. My bank account is feeling very threatened!

 

I’m so looking forward to Rose of Versailles event. Lady Oscar is my most favorite manga character. Thanks to Volks, I was able to welcome her into my collection. I made a short video of Lady Oscar last Christmas. Hope everyone would enjoy it!!!
