I entered for RG Williams. I wonder how many thousands of entries he will get...

 

I wonder how many there are of "old stock". I was figuring its probably the leftovers that were made for the cruise, since not everyone probably bought one. Maybe 5? 12? For a thousand entries it seems like!

If nothing else, I hope the demand encourages Volks to have a re-release of him. Clearly the love is strong!

I personally entered for Scarface Reisner, and I wasn't going to enter for RG Williams, but in the end he's been enter for as well, though for a friend. I honestly just really, REALLY hope I get the Reisner! He's a dream boy that I've been dying to get my hands on for literally ever haha. I have some interesting plans too, because I think I'd like him to be tan sooooo could be fun!

I ended up putting in for Reisner! He would have easily been my pick if I hadn't been waffling on RG Williams, but in the end I felt like If I'd been lucky enough to win RG's lottery... I'd just end up tearing him apart and repainting him. And it made me feel like a monster lmao.

So I've been wondering if the limited releases of the SDGr Theodore / Date / Tsunenaga ... dolls on the Volks website have been "recast" by Volks since their initial release in 2018?
Because I've seen them going out of stock for a few weeks only to be back on sale again. It makes me wonder if Volks is still just selling their leftovers or if the dolls are being cast again once the in-stock dolls have been sold out - kinda like their SD10 Standard girls.

Do any of you maybe know anything about this?

 

You will love whomever you bring home. I truly believe Volks still has some of the best dolls in this hobby after all these years.

 

@Ayanami, I’m just speculating here, but I think it’s more likely that the periodic webstore restock is due to various stores sending their in-stock dolls back to wherever the webstore ships from. I think it’s likely that Volks anticipated a lot of interest from overseas buyers, and wanted to give the option of buying these dolls, which have sold very slowly in the Japanese market. Even very popular dolls are sometimes in stock at the physical stores after the event. For example, Neon the YoSD mouse was still in stock at Mado and Akihabara a year after the Dolpa where he was released.

 

I've been out of the hobby for long time. I just realized they had the Rose of Versailles collaboration and I totally missed out! That must've have been so exciting! I wonder if anyone in DOA had the chance to get Oscar.

It's interesting to know that Volks is selling the leftovers since this means that Date from my order of last week was cast in 2018, when he was initially released.

 

If I see a vendor selling an Oscar set, I would totally bite!

 

I was just wondering, is everyone else’s account saying “under arrangement” for Captain Cecile? Trying to understand Volks’ order statuses and seeing if there’s one that means it’s confirmed. XD

@Lautturi - you should have a confirmation email and the account online should say 'before shipping.'

It will say 'under arrangement' until it ships.

Also, you should have an order #.

I’ve got preparing for shipment at the top, the order number and email, but then it also says under arrangement. As long as that means it definitely went through, I’m good. Phew. :3

I know a friend is trying for Duke, and I wish them luck! The fullsets, are beautiful. The prices are higher than I expected for Lorelei, but its a charity auction, so Im expecting both sets to go really high. Its day 1 and Lorelei's auction is going really well!

 

I saw it this morning and the prices woke me right up


Can't blame them tho, Lorelei is gorgeous! Unfortunately the lottery win did not happen so far so I am just curious at how much both will end at!

The charity one-offs are both gorgeous dolls... Way too rich for my blood, but I can see why someone with the resources to spare would throw a small fortune at them.

 

Not surprised at all to see these prices on the auction dolls. It seems to be the new trend. Both are gorgeous and I'm sure who ever brings them home will be thrilled.

Very cool to see the Beth on the SD16 body! Really loving that ws Genji .... His outfit reminds me of the outfit I put on my Lady Oscar when we went to Atami.

Beth’s dress and nails are to die for. The details on Genji’s frock coat. So good!!

 

Williams arrived at my jp address today! It'll be a while until he comes home (whenever ems is allowed again) but he did indeed ship yesterday.

Yes the auction models are insanely beautiful. The Duke's outfit is incredible. I wish I had something similar for Etienne to wear because it would suit him so well. I hope we see more of him on social media! If anyone else gets a Williams or Cecile shipping notice, let us know!

 

Some people on Instagram have already received their Williams + Cecile orders and I'm really impressed with their face-up, it looks gorgeous, especially the one Williams has! His bottom lashes are so delicately painted

He is so gorgeous, I love the size of his eyes in the sockets. Really intricate eyebrows that we couldn't really see before too!

 

I did order him on the first day. If you order from the int site I wonder if the time is different.

I know the volks usa delivery time is different but I think that's because if I remember correctly they're sent by sea between jp and usa?

 

I ordered the first day on the international site. No shipping notice yet.

 

If you have basic sewing skills, try searching for human size clothing with tiny embroidery and repurpose it for your dolls. Depending how the garment is made, it can shortcut the sewing. Baby clothes often have pretty size-appropriate embroidery on them. It isn’t cheap bc you’ll probably need more than one baby garment to make one BJD outfit, but it has to be less expensive than the auction dollies. lol!

 

That’s a nice idea! I hadn’t thought about scavenging old baby clothes for details, they’d finally be small enough. I wouldn’t mind taking a crack at the embroidery myself, but time is never on my side. Thanks for sharing the tip!!

Yeah, that just seems kinda silly, to buy them on Y!A since
a) they were pre-order
b) they were cheaper when buying from Volks
c) they were available to everyone

Don't get it either. Why would anyone pay the Y!A mark-up, plus shipping when they could just have got them for the original price, plus shipping?

 

Well...

- no credit card
- no money during pre-order period
- simply missed the order period xD

are reasons I could think of. (Although they could have used a shopping service to solve problem 1)

 

Another reason I could think of was someone wanted to order, but also wanted to try their hand at the best of the best lottery. If they lose, then maybe they'll go back and snag a boy they couldn't order before? That was the only reason I didn't also buy Williams, to hold out for my hopeless dream of RG Will

 

Resellers were bound to buy and re-sell Cecil and Williams because :

a) some people forgot to make an order
b) didn't have the money at the time and therefore they may sit there for a bit
c) are new to the hobby and now NEED these boys

Those listings may not sell today but eventually they will. Not surprised.

 

Guys, if anyone will ever see blank Cecile somwehere or will be cleaning off their own, please share the picture! I'm really curious! I saw him already with other owners but I think we will have to wait for other faceup/blank head

 

In all likelihood I can help you there hehe... but I won’t see my Cecile until august if I remember. I’m looking forward to seeing any custom work that might appear in the meanwhile : D

 

There may also be people like me who wanted both, but couldn't afford both at the time. I'm honestly hoping that we end up seeing a lot more on the second hand market so that in a few weeks or months I could maybe pick up Cecile for a half decent price.

 

I’m glad you like the idea!. Scrounging is a treasure hunt for beautiful fabrics. Instead of cotton, you might find embroidered silk.
You embroider? That takes patience and an eye for fine details. Maybe embroider a flower on the collar or sleeves to customize the outfit or add a bit of embroidery just to enhance the existing embroidery.

 

Me too. I want white skin RG Williams and will wait only for him. Gosh, it sounds like an unrequited love affair, doesn’t it?

 

I would be lying if I didn't admit I look at him at least once a day, for the last year haha. Definitely an unhealthy obsession!

Can someone please tell me how to attach a head on the Dollfie World Cup SDGR female bust? I was trying to put an SD13 head on there but there’s just a weird stick instead of an S hook like I was expecting. Does the head just simply sit on it and not attach at all? :-/
