While so many people are excited to be able to order Williams and Cecile, I'm exhilarated to say that today I was finally able to order my absolute grail doll via a proxy from the Volks website.
He's the SDGr Date Masamune 2nd version and I've wanted him since I began collecting three years ago

I couldn't order him myself from their official website because the customs office in Germany would have made me pay ~400$ extra for customs + taxes on top of his already hefty price tag.
But I finally found a shop in the UK that offered to order him for me for the regular price + shipping, no extra fees added!

Ahhhh I'm so happy!! And I think that it's such a nice coincidence that I'm able to get my grail at the time when many other hobby enthusiasts are able to get their hands on a Williams/Cecile

Yesterday I made a 2nd attempt for GL membership and received Volks’ auto reply acknowledgment. Unfortunately my page is still unchanged. I retyped my info. Let’s see if that does the trick.

How should I enter my address? Is this okay? nnn Street, City, State, USA
Should I enter ‘94109’ or ‘941094810’ or ‘94109-4810’ for my zip code?

I time is short, but I’ll try until the bitter end! Lol!

Under the "My Page" section you should have a "status" section. There it should list your membership number, type and expiration date. Did your purchase of the membership go through?

 

*sigh* It looks like my membership still hasn’t gone through as I’m still shown only as an “online customer”. No expiration date.
Maybe late tonight, my time since It is already late morning in Japan. (Fingers crossed)

(Couldn't figure out where to put this thread, forgive me if it's in the wrong place)

I just got a SWD Nono. She is the first release of SWD Nono from 2002 Dolpa in C3.
There's no question she's legit, comes with all her original stuff/faceup.
Though her headplate had fallen out, and the seller has included a headplate.

However, this reads: 02,11/RE

The year matches (2002) but the month (11) doesn't match with what I can find with the release date (08/25/02 according to Nono Sweet Dream) and I thought 'RE' meant regular or renewal - which seems odd as she is not a regular release or on the renewal body.

Could it be that RE does not stand for regular or renewal? Did all early headplates say this (I believe headplates started in 2002)? Could anyone else offer insight here, especially if you have this version of Sweet Dream Nono?

Hello everyone! My application for GL Membership was also canceled. I don't really see where it might have gone wrong, as I did not receive any follow-up from Volks. The address field is probably at fault, but it's a bit of a guessing game

Here is how my address field was filled out. I've received several orders with this configuration during the past year, so I thought it would be alright to leave it as is when I applied. Should anything be changed in order to have the GL Membership application go through?

Postal code : (left blank - the website used to not recognize my postal code when it was written here)
City address : House number, street name, postal code, city name, COUNTRY
Building, apartment name : (left blank)

This is how I have mine. I did not enter it this way, it seems to have just done this on it's own accord. I'm not going to touch it because the system seems to like it It definitely is odd though!

Underneath your name, there should be a section for:
Country Information: (where I have my country input, ex USA)
Postal Code: (5 digits only postal code for USA residency, ex 10011)
City Address: Street address only (ex 12345 Main St)
Building Apartment name: City, state (ex New York, NY)

 

If her plate was no longer attached, is it possible the seller may have just gotten the plate mixed up with another doll they owned? Maybe all they could recollect was that she was from 2002 so they made an error in which plate to include with your purchase.

The month definitely doesn't align with SWD Nono, but it's comforting to know she has all of her other goodies! A lot of the early headplates seem to really like to abandon ship. If this owner had a lot of early dolls, I can imagine it may have gotten chaotic quickly if plates were jumping off of heads left and right!

These are the items I updated and how they were entered (Where ‘n” is a number)
Postal Code: nnnnn (5 digits only)
Address: nnn street name, city name, state, USA (commas separating each item)
Building Apartment Name: n (only a single digit, no punctuation)
Phone: nnnnnnnn (no spaces, no hyphen, for US, first digit is 1 followed by 7 digits)
Email magazine: HOPE (checked)
Email magazine type: Dollfie (checked)

Yes, that was my initial thought too! Unfortunately I bought her online from a second hand hobby shop in Japan, so there's no way for me to contact the original owner. I assume they were moving on several dolls from around that time period and mixed them up. Not much point gluing it back on if that's the case

 

I had a very similar situation with my regular Nono, she is from 2002 and is marked as such inside her head and cap, but the plate she came with is from 2006 It's very obviously been glued back in. She also came from Yahoo Japan so I'm assuming it was a similar situation where the owner probably got themselves confused! No way of asking them either haha. It's fairly common, unfortunately.

 

Just noticed that Volks had sent a cancellation email, which ended in my spam folder In case it could be of help to anyone, here is what it said :

We regret to inform you that we will be cancelling your order.

Please correct the problem before placing your order.

-Please enter your name(please write 'remarks') address in English.
-Please enter your correct postal code.

I did add my address in the 'remarks' box, but not my name. Let's hope that this will not cause problems

 

That moment when I realize I've been in a daze for the last few days cause of work giving me 16 hour days and I somehow never actually entered the one-off lottery for either of the dolls I wanted (Souseiseki and Suigintou). I think I thought I did, but I just realized that today is the 8th, which means it is the 9th in JP. I definitely didn't enter.

I have never felt so much more like this emote till now, and I use it all the time -- oTL

@beamlette Yes, those are his default. They are glued in, and I might just leave them. They really suit him. His heat plate number is F. 1992. I'm currently waiting on a trip to the fabric store to get the fabric I need for his shirt.

 

Oooh this is the F20 on the girl body that was sold on Madarake right? He looks good as a boy. How does the skintone/yellowing compare to your other volks dolls?

Anyone else got a shipping notice from Volks about the Global Membership? LOL, it says, and I quote, "*There are no items to be shipped if you order global membership fee."

Cool. A shipping notice to tell me nothing is shipped..? I guess that automatic email service is working well.

 

I got a shipping notification email today as well, quite confusing tbh They charged for shipping when I bought the membership but I though they won't be issuing cards for global members...?

 

when I saw that shipping email, for a moment I thought it was the clothes I bought a week ago for my sd17s. but looking at 'my page,' I saw it was the membership. no card in the mail. shipping but not shipping.

LOL, yeah, exactly! I thought I'd accidentally bought something while I was having a glass of wine at the weekend...had to read all the details to make sure!

 

I got a shipping order and they shipped it. I've not bought from Volks this year, other than the Global Membership. I did get my NieR Automata dolls a week or two ago. So I guess they shipped the card.

 

With the uncertainty using Volks’ page and how many times I tried to finally get GL membership, the shipping notice made me think I might have ordered something I hadn’t meant to.
It would be nice to get a physical card.
Who kept the pretty membership cards that VolksUSA use to issue a lo-o-ong time ago?

 

I read the shipping fee for the GL memberships as Japanese tax. But maybe I'm totally mistaken here. I'd like a physical card too but in reality, it would just be another thing to clutter the wallet and waste paper/plastic.

@snowleopard Oh yes! I have my old VolksUSA card! I think I stuck it to my Dollfie wall with all my other postcards and such that I've collected over the years.

I'm safe from Cecil and Williams but I decided to place a small order at VolksUSA because the more I think about it, the more I'm concerned that with the creation of the global membership that they will disappear. Hopefully, events like online FCS will keep them staying strong. It would be really sad to see shutdown.

 

I have mine from Volks USA I keep it with my doll's box that he came in when I got my FCS in 2010. Can't believe my doll is 10yrs old already!

 

I also got the shipping email and just assumed they aren't able to turn those off for items that aren't being shipped. I will be amused if a card turns up at some point lol I still have my plastic VolksUSA member card. I remember having to have it to get into one of the NY Dolpas

 

It's actually on a boy body, his old owner just put him in a dress. He's a whiteskin, kind of a pale ivory. It's not as harsh of a color as my oldskin white F-04 is.

you're right about the shipping fee. It was just the VAT. Volks said they will not issue any point card for GL membership so there will be no physical card, though I'd love to have one (sigh).

 

Is it okay if I ask about the upcoming lottery for Romantic Glance William and Cain, et al in this thread?
I found this old post about them. Was 2017 when they were introduced?

I was quite indecisive which dolls in the 1st lottery that I liked the most, but now I find myself absolutely wanting both Wm and Cain.

Who already has these boys? I’d welcome your thoughts about them.

This head isn’t Cain, also wrong skin color, would it make a good stand-in for him? Even temporarily? Lol!

Cain is still definitely on the wish list, but since M just ordered Williams and Cecile, we're going to sit out the lottery. Saw him at the 2017 Dolpa and he's so gorgeous! Cain is in the Kohya/Tohya family rather than the Lucas family of sculpts.

[Maybe an outdoor meet in J-Town or a park? Safe enough as long as we are masked up.]

My F20's headplate number is F9902, which I'm guesstimating is from late 2009/early 2010. Yours is so much older; wow! A nice bit of old Volks history

Continuing on the F20 theme -- I was looking at my 2007 LA Dolpa pics, and came across these two lads; on the left, an F20! Wonder where he is now...

I am leaning towards RG Williams. I forgot, this is a lottery, there is no guarantee on getting even one.

Does anyone know if this actually means anything? Google is giving me nothing. I'm just super curious, cause I know I didn't input that.

Well, so far I know Ernie and Suiguintou have been won. And I've seen one other winner, unclear which doll they got, but they expressed an interest in F89, so maybe?
I'd love to know how many applications they received overall (and especially the breakdown of applications by doll, although I know we never will). I believe there were at least 5800 in all? I wonder how that compares with a regular Dolpa...
Hopefully the massive interest encourages them to offer the occasional international one-off lottery!

 

I won the One-Off Suiseiseki . I think I just used up my next ten years worth of Volks luck.
