If I were you I would try to ask Volks explicitly just to be sure! You wouldn't want to forfeit your entry because of it just in case.

I'll also be applying for the Volks membership and while I'm not particularly interested in one of the one-off models, I'm very glad that international buyers (like me) finally get a chance to enter the lottery!

This is a huge step forward! Volks is finally rewarding ALL of their loyal customers all over the world! I don't think the membership is going to eliminate things like shopping services and scalpers but it will definitely open up possibilities for everyone. In store FCS ordering and one off entries are the icing on the cake. And finally! Earning points on all your Volks purchases!! That Dolpa 43 couch is looking ever so tempting now!!

Does the global membership show in our Volks accounts after purchase? I bought one earlier today but I'm not sure if I should be expecting an email other than an order confirmation.

It depends on the head, but if it's a sculpt that's only released on SD16 bodies, then most likely you'll want a 8-9 wig.

I bought it too so I'm guessing it will eventually show up on My Page? And I think there won't be an actual card?

@whitebread I know, right? Actually, I really want one. Stupid piece of laminated paper. I'm not sure if you know the Korean movie, My Sassy Girl, but the last scene is pretty awesome and I think of it every someone mentions the Volks membership card. I want to recreate that scene at Sato!

The shipping fee for my card was 23 yen. I wonder if Volks really is mailing us cards but is just sticking a stamp on them and crossing their fingers, hoping they make it all the way from Japan in a timely manner. :-/ I bet it will be months at best so I do hope the number shows up in our accounts like the page suggests. I tried ordering some shoes with it to get DHL shipping but it would not allow it.

Well, this is a first. I bought a Volks doll from Dollyteria, and DHL is requiring import/duty tax on the shipment. About 20% which is about $219. Yikes! I sure do miss EMS.

 

Dollyteria mark their packages as "merchandise" rather than what they actually are, so if the USA has any tariffs for something that could be considered merchandise this will be why I think. Hope your doll arrives safely!

 

Applied for a membership too! No changes to my account just yet, so I remain politely confused and excited.

I had a question actually - any advice for how to add a US address to your profile on the Volks online store? I feel like I’ve gotten all turned around with the fields. The main one is, I’m not really sure where to put city/state.

Hmm, is it just me or are the global memberships already no longer available? I didn't think something like that would be sold out but now when I followed the link on the site it says "the specified product was not found" Anyone else have this issue or have a better link to use? I'm logged in on the Japanese site and I was able to add it to my cart earlier today. Now I'm a little worried.

I just paid about 20% ransom fee for my Michele and Williams to be let out of customs, too.

I bought the membership like a minute ago! This link worked for me, along with some judicious use of Google Translate.

I've always just put the entire address in "city address" separated by commas -- has worked throughout the years with multiple address changes so far. >w<

 

What a shame! Sadly it's something us in Europe have to deal with all the time...hopefully just a one off for you.

Had to pay about the same amount to receive Lorina via DHL last week. With EMS she would have slipped into Australia gratis. *sigh* oh well...
But yeah, very unusual to be hit with import costs in the US isn't it? I honestly haven't heard of that happening before.

Oh, no..... I ordered from Dollyteria for the first time on Sunday. Paid my shipping yesterday and am patiently awaiting a shipping notice. I also opted to go with DHL, so now I’m nervous. Also in the US, btw.

 

I have a question about entering for the one-off models. Can I enter for more than one of the models (difficult to narrow down my dream list to just trying for one), or is that I cannot enter for the same doll more than once. The English translator on the note on how to enter is a bit confusing to me. Thank you, Barb

You can only enter once per account/under your name/address too per doll. So you can totally enter for multiple dolls, but only once with the same info. And if I'm not wrong technically you can only win once as well.

GL membership obtained! I'm so glad that weird vague email I got from Volks when I was asking about the the One-Offs and stuff actually had a positive outcome! Definitely going for my Suigtinou. Gotta at least try. Maybe Souseiseki as well! If I don't win them, which is a most likely thing then in I go for RG Williams and Scarface Reisner in the next rounds of lotteries!

I mean since there will be no card issued for GL member, can someone ask a friend/proxy living in Japan to pretend to be the applicant and use the service? If yes then it would be just a new business chance for proxy XD

Wasn't quite sure what the response meant. The rules don't specifically address the last name / same address situation. It mentions multiple web user accounts, and how that would disqualify someone -

*If there is an act of applying multiple times with multiple web user accounts (regardless of individual or group), use of the web user account will be suspended and subsequent transactions may be declined. .. Please note.

And it seems like you can enter perhaps for more than one doll -
*One person can apply once for each product. If we determine that the same person has applied multiple times, we will cancel the application.

 

@Moria_ash Hmmm ... I suspect that you will need to show your photo identification as well as the account information, so the account would have to match your name. Looks like it the system won't be starting up until September so I guess Volks has some time to figure it out. I think having a card makes it easier for everyone because what happens if your phone dies on you? It's going to be interesting to see what happens in regards to points. Like will Volks type in your account or scan your phone to collect points or will we have to enter our receipt after into the website? And for those of us in North America, will we be able to get points from VolksUSA or will it be another membership or ??

Something of interest to point out regarding the Global Membership and Tenshi no Sato One offs, trade in service and Bisque :

* You must visit Tenshi-no-Sato to apply and hand over all products. The shipping Services is not available inside or outside Japan.

I take this as Volks won't ship your one off or bisque home to you and your friend can't pick it up. One offs are usually displayed at the beginning of the month, winners drawn much later in the month and then after the winners are contacted and have paid, they still usually have a period of viewing so the total time ends up being about a month or maybe a bit more? And as for the bisque, they are not released to their owners the day that they are won. It's usually about 2-4 weeks before they are released. Again, after winners are decided, they usually have a short viewing, a period of waiting (I have no clue why) and then are picked up. I think the waiting time may depend on the time of year like if they are released close to a holiday. And if memory serves me correctly, the turn around times for trading in heads or Volks resin is usually 1-2 months.

So .... FYI, if you are planning to go to Japan and wanting to take part in any of this, plan to stay for a while ....

And on a completely separate note, is it me or does anyone else ever wonder, "Where the heck did Sara (4 sisters) go?" Like, did she go on permanent vacation? Is she off on some exotic beach? I'd love to see her make a dramatic comeback in a Tan resin!

Yes Volks won't ship your one off or bisque home, but what if I let my friend or proxy use my account to apply for the dolls and pick them up? As far as I know there is no photo on the member card (Japan) and Volks' already said there will be no card for GL member. I'm curios what would Volks do to make sure the person who show up at Sato is the chosen one XD. Let's wait for more info to come!
I really hope Volks take the identification as serious as possible. We have waited for so long for a real membership and we finally got it. I would love to get my dolls by myself, not by proxy.

In case there are ppl who don't know who Amabie is, she's a legendary Japanese mermaid or merman with three legs, who allegedly emerges from the sea and prophesies either an abundant harvest or an epidemic (by Wiki)

I's sorry this doesn't have a English ver. (probably Japan-only...), but what's so special about this FCS order is not just because she got a special mermaid ear parts and three legs (I wonder what'd they look like), but also there will be a special option that you can replace her SD13 body with a SDGr body (high heel only) for JYP 22000!!! I'm pretty new to Volks, but is it the first time we have a chance to get a SDGr body through FCS?
Maybe Volks will bring this option to regular FCS ....fingers crossed!

 

Ah ok, made an account with my international address as the previous had my friend's Japanese address, that let me get the Global Membership, I'm excited!! I'm guessing they'll be emailing us the card details/number rather than mailing it which is too bad but at least it's something and I can enter for the doll I really want!

 

I remember them posting about her and showing the makeup application back in April! I need photos of this three-legged-ness pronto! My mind can't seem to sort out how that will look.

Also I'm not sure if anyone saw the post from Volks USA, but they showed the Dollfie Icon wearing these same ear fin pieces. Very interesting.

 

@I<3MySD seconding the need for photos of what three legged Amabie looks like! I keep trying to picture how that works in my head but none of the configurations are good

 

At Tenshi no Sato, with the current Japanese Volks member card, the front door staff will scan your card and your name will come on their system. I suspect it gives them any notes on a person (outstanding orders or reminders for pick ups?) or to make sure that the card is still valid. I suspect with GL members either Volks will scan your phone (if they give us virtual cards?) or type in the membership number which would pull up your information and I'm sure they will check the name on the account to the name on the identification. But yes, let's wait and see!

Thanks for the link on Amabie (3 legs? ) ! Very interesting! Yes, I think it's the first time the SDGr girl body has been offered as a special FCS. Me too! I hope this means that one day we may see the SDGr girl on the FCS menu!

 

I hope a bunch of people order Amabie with the SDGr body and Volks can finally put a dollar value on how much people want that as an option. Even if it means a lot of second-hand Amabie heads floating around!

 

ha I hope there is a flux of Amabie heads available for those of us who would love one but can't get the FCS. I love that faceup so much

 

I've seen people on Twitter talking about buying Amabie for her SDGr body... fingers crossed that the SDGr body popularity will drive Volks to see that it should be in FCS!

I also managed to take photos of my F-64 for June 4th! I'd love to see other FCS 60s dolls this month if people have time. And 70s dolls for July! Thank you in advance!

 

Does anyone know when volks switched from having "造形村 1999" written on the oldskin headcaps to having "造形村 VSSD" with an extra "VSSD" inside the head?

It's here! My F-20 is here! I'm so excited! @Daniel Falls the smell is extremely faint, I really have to get my nose right next to the doll to even notice it. I wouldn't even describe it as cigarettes, more like that stale garage old boxes smell. @Khell I will post pictures as soon as my phone cooperates and uploads them to Google and as soon as I can figure out how to actually make them stay on my post.

The traffic volume on Volks website right now is crazy. I’ve tried three times right now to try and pay for a Global membership, and then I’m immediately prompted to the heavy traffic page to wait and please be patient.

 

You won't see the membership showing in your account right away after you paid for GL member. I waited for like 24 hours to see an update in my account 2 days ago. Just FYI.

 

Does anyone have this issue? I tried to enter the lottery but the “lottery application” doesn’t work at all.
