Has anyone had their global membership status approved recently? I'm starting to really worry that my membership status won't be upgraded in time for the online events. I applied yesterday before the time stated in the listing to have it upgraded same-day, but I imagine they got a bunch of entries suddenly due to the HTD online event announcement.
Hopefully they'll get it before Friday JST, but I remember something similar happening with Dolpa 40 (before the new webstore was implemented) and Volks not even approving basic memberships in time to enter the lotteries, so my hopes aren't that high

 

I think I was approved? I bought mine yesterday. I got an email confirmation about it. When I log in my membership rank says "VOLKS Online Customer" does it say that for you?

 

Sadly that's not approved yet either, that's just the basic Volks e-shop membership status. It should be changed to something that I assume will reflect our Global membership status, as well as have an expiration date for our memberships. Apparently someone on DollDreaming got theirs approved in 3 days, so hopefully ours be approved soon too.
I really do wish that Volks hadn't set up a false expectation for me with that note about if you buy by x time on a weekday then it will be updated by y time on the same weekday. There is a note saying that high application volume will make it take longer, but I'd rather just not have the time expectation there at all in that event That said, this online Dolpa had such short notice for the first round of preorders/lotteries, I'm a little disappointed that they don't seem to have someone updating memberships ASAP (I am 99% sure they have to be added manually). There's always something to cause mild anxiety when it comes to that silly international E-shop!

Thanks, that's what I assumed it would change to! I don't think mine's gonna get approved before sales actually start since I ordered yesterday (8/4) way before noon JST if that 3 day mark is anything to go by. SO grateful these aren't clickwars for a multitude of reasons, but this is still stressful because of how short notice everything is.
Sorry for all the questions, but did they send you a confirmation email once your membership status was changed? Do you remember how long it took?

 

Ah dang. I'm such a noob. Guess if it doesn't get approved in time I paid 5 bucks for nothing lmao.

 

Oh, I wouldn't say that. It's good for an entire year, who knows how many other Dolpas they'll have to hold online? And they might actually "branch out" a bit and have other special offers for Global Members available. Also, if you're visiting Volks stores in Japan, Global Membership allows you to buy some stuff that's not available to non-members, or so it said, like some of the special items at Tenshi no Sato.

 

Might as well cross post this here too, since people are worried about the GL process.
This may not be of much help, but I got two e-mails regarding my GL membership when they first opened in June, so I'm guessing there was a rush in processing similar to now. I ordered on June 3rd Japan time and got the standard order/entry confirmation e-mail. Then on June 9th Japan time I got a "shipping complete" e-mail for the GL membership. That's a 6 day lag. Hopefully that's just their awkward way of them closing out the order and not when they activated the GL membership.

I never bothered to check when my GL membership activated, so I'm only guessing the second e-mail was when it "activated." It's definitely not instant. But they back date the expiration to the order date as mine expires June 3, 2021.

 

For the "shipping complete” email, there is no membership card to be shipped to me LOL. I guess we only have online status but not being able to receive an actual card. Though, I hope to have one

 

That's what made me laugh about suddenly receiving a "shipping complete" e-mail. I'm guessing we'll just have to print out the membership number for them to confirm? Looks like they also track in-store purchases for the GL membership. Hopefully someone with a GL membership will figure out how it works.

 

No card. It stays on your 'my page' info and will show the expiration date. It took me about 3 days to get mine showing up back when it started.

 

I don't think GL membership was supposed to be available for in-store purchases until September anyway. I imagine it might be pushed back anyhow since it's not like people can really use that option considering the current situation?
Edit: I was also assuming you'd print it, or could log in on your phone/mobile device and show them your membership info from there.

I just got an email thanking me for registering, but my membership status hasn't changed and I've had an international webshop account for I don't know how many years now. Volks, what are you doing today

 

@Roterwolkenvogel Clytemnestra is divine! My F-07 has been sitting without a face-up for years I really need to work on her. But here are her sisters. I always thought they looked a little similar.

 

Does anyone’s Williams be shipped out from VolksUSA?
I am worried because my face up artist (Locates in another country)needs to get the head before Sept. Lol.

That's really weird. I bought my GL membership a few days before the lottery back in June/July and it was in by the next or 3rd day.

 

I emailed Volks and they suggested to wait for "Complete Order” email as they’re inspecting all packages which were delivered from Japan. I hope my William would be ready by next week.

 

Agree, especially now it's global membership available...

Yup, you can always shoot them an email. They're pretty quick to response to on an inquiry nowadays. Unless, you ask about how the lottery works, they might not be able to response LOL

 

Hey! Anyone here entering the DWC? I've never done it before, and I'm a bit confused by some of the fields for "work information". Maybe you know!

Is "creator nickname" the name you gave the doll you painted?
Is "work title" the same thing? 'A'
What is "work PR"?

Hope that makes some sense. Thanks a bunch!

 

"creator nickname" - Your nickname to show in the entry
"work title" - your face-up title (ie. what is the name of the face-up you're doing)
"work PR" - a description for your work, so in English term it is to provide your artist's statement

Has anyone else tried ordering FCS this round? I’m having trouble with the form not letting me select everything (once it gets to eyes, it just stops allowing me to check boxes). I’ve tried on a couple different devices but it’s always the same problem. Was wondering if anyone else had experienced it before e-mailing Volks. Thanks!

 

@Majenta Are you NOT ordering a faceup with the doll? Eyes and any options related to eyes are tied to whether or not you chose to order a faceup. When you select/click on "Coordinated Makeup" then all the remaining faceup and eye options should now be clickable.

I just tried it out now and didn't have a problem.

 

Did anyone else order young Cecile and Williams? I caved in and put in for both. Even though I am mostly collect adult dolls. They called to me.
But of course, it will go to a lottery. I never have any luck.

Another newbie question. The one off dolls that are shown on the Volks blogs for the individual stores. Are they one of a kind dolls used for displays and then a lottery is held to sell them?
Or are they limited editions?

@Kbarberdav The one-off lotteries happen at individual stores. I know you have to fill out an entry form at Sato and I'd always assumed it's the same at the Sumika shops. From my understanding all Sumika shops, Sato, and Mado are still open during the pandemic, so the only one-offs that will have an online lottery are the ones that were slated for the HTD Kyoto17. That will happen through the international site, so the entry pool is sadly quite large. I don't believe those one-offs have been shown yet.
They're one of a kind in that they have unique faceups and clothing from individual artists, but are made from existing head molds.

I entered for Cecile. I hope he comes home to me! I've really liked his sculpt all these years that Oath of the Silver Coin has existed, and the SD17 version almost got me. But boy, those chubby little cheeks and kind of judgy appearance from his young version absolutely nailed me. If his sculpt has teeth I might actually cry
I hope Volks USA gets them because I don't expect to have any luck in this lottery. I think there are very few made since they were initially meant to only be sold physically at Dolpa, and never even go to an after event. I assume their lottery will be a bloodbath and I need every chance I can get

 

@Astro Do you know if they give you a receipt when you put in an entry for a oneoff?

I ended up entering for both Cecile and will! I will be astounded if anything comes of it, but in general I’m just pleased as punch to even be able to vie for these cuties whatsoever. Woo online dollpa! (Tho my bank account might disagree haha)

For online or for in-store? I've never entered for either outside of entering at a Dolpa so I'm not sure. I think they do give them to you physically since I seem to recall having a 2nd half to the entry ticket at LA Dolpa last year that was used to claim winning entries?

I just asked some friends that also entered a normal lottery about a receipt email though. I don't think they do, I realized I never got an entry receipt email. But the entry is listed in my list of orders on the international site so I'm not worried about it having gone missing. Anyone else get/not get one? I've had a lot of issues getting email from Volks USA in the past but have been receiving everything from them recently.
I do wish they'd have a specific "in lottery period" tag for lottery entries. Right now it says "preparing for shipment" and I'm sure someone will manage to misinterpret that and think they've won the doll.

I may or may not have bought a Rapunzel, so unless there's a one-off I really want to enter for then I think I'm gonna skip the dolls this Dolpa (however adorable that little Cecile pout may be). But I can't wait to see owner pics of them, especially with their bigger counterparts!

 

Did your credit card get charged? My card got charged for both Will and Cecile.

I didn't actually check. I assumed it would turn into a lottery and that they wouldn't charge anything until after the results are determined at the end of the month. Even in the extremely off chance it doesn't turn into a lottery, the way the listing is worded makes it sounds like you don't get charged until we're 100% sure it's not a lottery. It seems like it'd be a hassle to charge everyone and then refund those who lose? Is the charge just pending or did it actually go through?
I haven't done a lotto on international in a few years now (not since the change to the new website), maybe that's what they're doing these days

 

I believe my card was charged, @Kbarberdav . Not sure exactly how it’s supposed to work, but I’m assuming the amount will come off if the lottery is lost?

 

Just checked and the transaction is in pending status for my credit card, so it hasn't quite officially hit just yet. Fingers crossed it doesn't become a lottery!

 

I asked around + checked mine and yeah, it's pending. I think it's not fully processed until the lottery results are determined and is only charged if you win.

 

Volks has pre-charged for lottery dolls before, and then refunded anyone who didn't win. Not sure if that's exactly what's happening now, but it's a possibility.

I'm going to hold off on placing an order for Williams just yet, since I want to see what Volks USA will get, and do. The site did go done for heavy traffic when they boys first went live, which I thought was kind of funny considering we've got 10 days to place orders.

 

Been catching up on reading all the chats. I love the heads for the Cecile and Williams boys, but I want girls and the boy bodies don't sell for much. I saw the le petite frere in person and what a gorgeous head! But alas on another boy body. I've been waiting for a limited sdgr girl whose head sculpt I'm absolutely in love with because that's the only body I want, but with the Disney girls, it doesn't look like I'll be getting a Volks girl for another year still. I like Cinderella's head sculpt but with the limited/different skin, I don't like how hard they make it to get matching parts. I've been waiting for a fcs sdgr girl option forever and it doesn't look like it'll ever happen so I'll need to buy a limited and an fcs and swap bodies and sell, so that means I have to save for twice as long and wait for when they release regular skintone sdgr girls. I keep getting tempted by other doll companies in my long wait for the perfect Volks girl and it makes the wait even longer. T_T Anyone else with this dilemma? What hybrid Volks dolls have you all done?

Are you me? 'Cause it feels like I could have written this! I love Rapunzel's sculpt, and I can deal with her special skin color since she has the regular legs as default and an extra pair of hands are included. But there are so many gorgeous Volks sculpts I'd love to own as girls, and I vastly prefer the SDGr compared to SD and SD16 girl bodies. I've looked into hybrids a lot, and I'm considering a Guudoll body for my next NS Volks girl. I've also seen someone use a Xagadoll body, though the resin color seems like it might not match freshly made/unyellowed Volks as well. SQLab bodies are a lovely option too, but the company seems to be kinda unreliable lately.

Hope you can find the perfect Volks girl for you!

The Volks site went down even before the lottery was open. I checked it about 2 minutes before the entry period started and it was already gone

 

@idrisfynn I'm also thinking of putting Cecile on a DSD body if I get him. There's actually a DSD body up on Dollyteria right now (or was, it may have sold in the week or so since I saw it) that's extremely tempting, except I don't even want to imagine what shipping the DSD house box would cost via DHL. I wonder if they'd be willing to toss the box and pack it in something smaller?
Still, no sense in getting it until we know if we've won.

 

I was just popping in to mention that I'd managed to coax the Volks site and my bank to co-operate for long enough that I could successfully enter for SD Williams, but I see that @idrisfynn beat me to the punchline. I think the resemblance to both Williams and Suigintou is what tipped me over the edge. Never had either one and now I can maybe have both!

@Peachdolly I gave up on waiting for the SDGr girl body to be added to FCS and just resigned myself to an old secondhand body (the deeply frustrating first version with the horrible neck ball) and I'm kind of glad I did because that was six years ago and they still haven't added it. I think their story that it is too expensive a body to produce for FCS is a fairly lame excuse, as there is ample proof that we we will keep spending money just name the price!

 

Earlier other people were saying young Will looks more like Suigintou, but I've always thought Suigintou (and F-62? or 63?) looked like she could be Williams little sister, so young Will looking a bit like both makes sense to me. It would be cool to see them all side by side.
