I'm not sure if I'm going to try for anything tonight in the International AE but I hope we don't experience the same thing as Xpass in that you may be able to put things in your cart, but you may not be able to check out as the item may get sold out. So, just kinda a heads up, just because it's in your cart doesn't mean it will be yours. Hopefully, it's not another 5 hour+ battle online .... Fingers crossed.

 

Thanks @pris84! She sold out right as I was in the doorway at Dolpa. It's amazing she stayed in stock that long, since I wound up with an absolutely abysmal place in line. I was like somewhere in the 7-900s? Maybe there's a lot of them or maybe she's less popular than I thought? Ranko lasted a really long time too, I was like, 30-50 people back from the door before she sold out too.
I honestly don't think I have a snowball's chance in hell with the clickwar though. If only it were a lottery T_T. Maybe USA will get her? Though that's no guarantee either. I've definitely cursed myself though, I bought her an outfit at Dolpa even though I don't have her yet! I just can't justify paying scalpers for her 2nd hand price, either, unless it goes way, way, way down. (And even then I'd feel really gross about it, but she's the one I felt I let get away so I'd probably at least entertain the thought if the price was right. Ugh.)
I made plans to go to a movie before I realized they'd changed the date for the dolls so tickets were bought and it only gives me about 25 minutes to try for her. I'm pretty much out of luck knowing how Volks' site works during these things.

Edit: I decided to check out the clickwar for clothes/accessories on the Volks international site that's happening today and it's 20 minutes before it starts and the website is already broken from too much traffic. I can't even log in, so getting Arle via clickwar is absolutely not happening tomorrow. Why do they keep having clickwars? This always happens.

 

Yeah I really, really wanted that SD13-boy sized Herbalist outfit and of course that's the only one that sold out. The site was down for me all night. I really hope they bring these to Volks USA!

Yeah, it was a disaster. The site came back online after about an hour and 45 minutes? Then it went down for another hour or so, and by the time it was back a second time all of the items that had sold out in person at Dolpa by the time I went to the Sumika shop (maybe 1-1.5 hours before closing?) were sold out as well. That tiny purse keeps getting away from me!

I'll try for Arle this evening but since I've got plans that start at 5:30 I'm not holding my breath and would honestly be surprised if I got her that way. I don't think any of my friends are around to rope in to babysitting the website for me tonight either. At least this way it doesn't matter how fast your internet is in relation to how fast the ping is in Japan if the site itself is broken (lol!). I'm still surprised it was completely trashed (at least!) a full 20 minutes before the clickwar was supposed to start. I guess I'll try logging in at 4 today and refresh it every 5 or so minutes and hope for the best. I assume there will be less traffic since the only things going up today are two dolls, but I also completely expect the server to crash and burn.
Crossing my fingers for all of us to have luck in the US lotto! I'm so glad that Volks USA does lottos! Please... please keep that up

 

I checked the wiki but none were available for either gender. It would be pretty info useful for hybrid purposes. If anyone gets back to me on this I'd like to add it to the wiki.

 

According to dollheart website it's 14 cm for long legs SD13 male and 11,5 for SD13 female.

 

This weekend I have finished cleaning, restringing and new faceups for my latest dolls SD Sara from 1999 and an old F08

The online doll after event was a complete disaster as expected. Both my friend and I eventually got Arle in our carts and then lost her at the last page of payment due to the website crashing. Here's to hoping the USA lotto will be kind to us both!

I received an email last week that they were being prepared for delivery. I called and picked up my doll last Friday. I’ve been meaning to take photos, but I now have an ebony-skin SD16 Pearl. I hope you receive your email soon!

Just sharing an old picture that I never got around to posting here. I know a lot of people are aware of the Christmas ornament ears, but the Mickey ear hats that come on the headband fit SD heads pretty well! You just need to cut the thread that attaches them to the headband.

 

Sorry to ask a stupid question, but I've tried looking and haven't been having any luck on DoA or otherwise. I have a Kanata and he's beautiful, with a smaller head than the other Volks kids I've owned - going from Kun to Kanata was like shrinking down the planet Jupiter, lol. But I have a secondhand F-17 boy on the way (who I am SO EXCITED ABOUT!!!) and I can't seem to find whether he'll need an 8-9 or a 9-10 wig. Does anybody have one, or know? I haven't been active on the forum in years, but my search attempts turned up a whole lot of MP threads and not much else.

My F-17 wears a 9-10! He's one of those classic Volks melonheads.

I'm sure some 8-9s could stretch to fit, but 9-10 is safer all around.

I got a shipping notice for my VolksUSA FCS, a sunlight Pearl (no face up). It will probably be February before she arrives because of the post.

Does anyone have any photos in Volks' choco colored wigs? Really curious how it looks in a more natural setting vs what I've seen of the color from Volks themselves.

 

Just as a heads up: I just updated Neo Angel Den with all the new head molds, ears, and hands over the past two years. I didn't mean to get behind, but oh well! All caught back up now!

Also of note: The Omukae outfits are not updated yet. I need to take some time to research those, find out release dates, and get images.

 

Managed to not only nab a Volks Boy's Dormitory outfit on Y!J but also trade some unused fantasy parts fir for a blank F35 head and my darling Michele got a faceup slot - no more brows of doom!

@Tempest_Strife I'm pretty sure I had all the omukae's and dates up on Another Heaven. I'll see if I can pull them up if you dont find them elsewhere first.

 

I picked up my Volks SD16 Pearl from VolksUSA over a week ago, but I only managed to take a photo today. I love the amber/ebony skin tone and wish it were more available for other FCS sizes. She is the newest addition to my collection:

It's quite embarrassing but I recently bought a kimono from Volks for my SD13 Nono to see if I like her in that style and I can't seem to put it on properly . I'm left with a longish thin piece of material and some elastic with lace. I tried to watch some kimono tutorials on YouTube but I can't figure out what those pieces suppose to be since I assume Volks did some simplifications... Anyone would be able to help please?

 

@Renka, in the Volks sets, the stretchy lace elastic functions like koshihimo, the ties that hold the kimono closed at various places. If you have one left over, that’s fine.

The longish thin piece of material, assuming it is flat, may be the obiage. On a person, the obiage covers the makura pillow in the taiko style knot, but on dolls it is just decorative. It goes kind-of along the top of the obi and is tied in front in a neat knot and tucked in, or for a young or stylish person it can be tied in a bow, tucked into the edge of the kimono, etc.

If the long thin piece of material is sewn into the shape of a stuffed tube, it is the obijime, which is tied around the outside of the obi. I hope you will post pictures when you are done! The Volks kimono sets are so pretty, and dolls in kimono are my favorite!

 

I won’t have any good natural light for pictures until the weekend but for now here’s a shot of Shiori. What a treasure she is! I’m so grateful I was able to do FCS this time around and bring home this delicate, lovely creature!

@Daniel Falls Thank you so much! Yes, she is in white skin with the natural face up. I really had a time choosing between the two makeup options as I liked the dramatic lips and eyes but the arched eyebrows were a but much for the character I had in mind so I went with natural. I’m really pleased with it! Her eyes are 18/9.

Carmen, my old F08, finally decided on a wig! (last night shortly before midnight smh)

 

@Roterwolkenvogel She's so pretty! Soft and feminine, yet tough and sassy.

 

So I got my November FCS orders last week and I'm wondering if I should contact Volks. I got a tan Pearl with faceup and I've noticed a flat spot on her nose that kinda looks like a rub? It's really hard to photograph and every time I look at other Pearl photos it almost looks like it's part of the sculpt. It just doesn't look right on mine. What do you think? @FunnyLori It's hard to tell from the photo. Is it the tip of her nose? Do you think it's just a flake of the MSC/Zouk powder spray? If you are unhappy with her, then I would contact Volks. The sooner you do it, the more chance that Volks can help you out.

 

@pris84 thank you, it is just the tip of her nose. The more I look at it, the more I think it is damage to the coating. I just emailed Volks about it. Her nose isn't blushed, if it had been I think it would be much more noticeable. It's so weird because I've been studying photos of Pearl and it does seem sometimes like some of them have flat spots. It's been really hard to tell.

 

...Might have just made an attempt for the Yukinojo that's been sat idling on Mandarake for the past little while... Despite telling myself I wouldn't/shouldn't... Main reason I went for him, unlike the past couple of listed Yukinojos that turned up on there - he came as a full doll, not just an extremely expensive floating head!

Not sure if I should be asking for luck that he comes back as in stock, or out of stock to be honest! On the one hand, grail that I've had for literally a decade? Yay! On the other - my wallet...

 

@FunnyLori I just got my blank sunlight Pearl today and the left side of the tip of her nose is a bit flatter and shiner? It's very subtle and yes, it would be hard to photograph. Maybe the coating just didn't stick to that spot?

 

Ohh Yukinojo! The SD16 or SDGou version? I have got the SDGou and love him so much! Both versions of him are so handsome Just recently I got mine a new outfit (one of the priest sets from Volks, now he looks even more handsome). Would you like some pictures of him to help decide on buying him?

Ahaha - yeah the in stock confirm just came through from Mandarake - RIP my wallet... (Even moreso since Paypal's idea of the exchange rate is as warped as ever! Eek no new doll purchases this year after this, that's it lmao. Ahem, I always say that...)

He's the DP27 SDGou, still has the original face-up with weird little beard/hot-glue eyes - but not his fullset (not that I cared that much for the clothes!) Now it's the dilemma to keep that original face-up or not hah. We'll see how much I like it in person.

 

@Vetinari I will take some pictures when I'm back home! The tiny beard... oh yes, this was actually also an issue for me. When I ordered him, I thought of changing the faceup - but when he arrived, in real, he was so amazing - this bear is just a hint of shadow which didn't bother me much longer. The only thing I had changed was the wig. It was too small to wear with a silicone wigcap below and it also didn't look good on him.

Oh - that info is pretty heartening. Ah yeah, it'll be a dual question of how much do I like it/is there any damage that didn't show - it looked perfect in the mandarake photos and the usual listed 'damage' didn't mention anything about the face, but as always, the mandarake lighting was terrible.

 

@pris84 thank you! Volks has said it's probably a flat spot and they're not going to service it because I couldn't show it in my photos. It's there, it kinda bothers me, but I'm also in a place where I kinda don't care. I'm going to paint her teeth now that I know they're not going to work on her so I'll give her a really good bath to get any fingerprints off and respray her anyway.

She's gorgeous and I keep swapping her head with the F57 boy I bought. They're twins and I haven't decided which is which gender. I'd originally planned on a Pearl boy. I'm finding I love F57 more than I thought. Maybe even more than Pearl.

@FunnyLori Is that the Volks vivid make up option from the FCS on your Sunlight F-57? I love it. I think your right about Pearl and F-57 looking like siblings. Whatever you decide to do, they are both amazing!

 

I got my Volks Saki last night (Yay) and i was wondering what eyes you use for your volks. my Kiriko and Date masamune head have 14mm eyes and wonder if thats what you guys also use for the wider eye heads.

she has some blue ones in, but i dont know what size they are and i think the iris is a bit on the bigger side. i dont know it to look weird for her, so i dont know what would be the best option eye wise..; what do you guys use?

Congrats on your new girl! My Saki wears 18mm, I think her eyes are too large to wear much smaller, otherwise there would be gaps ><

Thanks for sharing @flowergirl ... i was a bit worried about trying to go smaller and normally id just buy all sizes that would be doable if it works and see what works best, or whatever may fit, but funds are tight, so i might just wait on it. im wondering if 18mm with a smaller iris is a possibility since i think the blue ones i have are 16 or 18 .. i dont remember what they are lol.

@Seditionary , yes! They both have the Volks vivid faceup options. I loved all the blue in F57's example photo and had to get it. In person it's just as once the top as promised. I also had Volks gloss the upper eyelids on F57.

Those shots are fabulous - you're very much making me look forward to getting my guy in hand, you've re-highlighted all the interesting looking posing possibilities of the SDGou with some of those shots! Thanks, looking at your images of his face-up I suspect I'll end up keeping my guy with the original factory paint from Volks, pending there being no obvious damage. Your images are making me go, yes, hrmm, he really does fit the character tentatively pencilled in...

(Already I'm getting terrible additional character ideas though - it looks like he's going to be joining the amusingly mismatched buddy-cop style pair in my extended gang, who both bonded over a shared love of surfing - Jehan (Venitu) the laconic space pirate/pilot/ex-military type, and Bismuth (Dragon Shell Snake) a classic evil gangster crossed with an aristocratic elven lordling, and now they'll be getting a third stereotypical surfer dude to join them... Only he'll be the only one living up to (down to?) the blond shaggy image.)

He should be turning up early next week (cries in VAT - I could have bought me a whole other doll from someone like Resinsoul with that tax hit...)
