@TabletopPhantom I bought his head here on DoA and then bought him a secondhand SDGR boy body!! I was so lucky, because the match was almost perfect @u@ Here he is in his old faceup and then his new one! I'm waiting on his default wig and clothes, so good photos have to wait!!

And btw - he's the one from his "Unicorn" release : D

Proper photo shoot won't happen until the weather is better and my F62's new head arrives (somewhere in the next week^^), but I put all three of my girls in their Volks jumper skirt sets and I wanted to share this one of Yuni modeling her Volks Christmas Box Lilac Rose dress:

For those that have Rapunzel: is her body packed with bubble wrap like other Volks releases? I’ve finally received her, but I won’t be able to open her until next weekend.

 

Her hands and feet are packed with bubble wrap, body is surrounded by cotton pad. Volks use double carton boxes for protection. Should be safe during shipping.

 

Recycling an old picture of my Kaelin, but yay to more Kaelins! Mine is from the 2009 release and her heads abit too yellow for her new body but oh well X'D

And jumping on the Kaelin hype train: I'm also currently waiting for my Kaelin head to arrive. Seeing all your photos makes me even more excited about him! I've never owned this sculpt before and I'm very interested in the elf ears he comes with. Hopefully they'll look as good/detailed as in the photos.

 

Random question but does anyone happen to know of a place that has all volks sculpts shown? I only know like a handful (10 sculpts at best and its the named ones). I gotten more curious about what else might be out there besides Belldandy XD (shes my grail still)

I didn't ever think I'd actually I'd be tempted to invest into a Volks myself (I liked to look at them, but didn't feel the urge to buy), but the other week there was a Jun Tachibana and well... she's mine now XD

Currently disassembled for cleaning, hotglueing and restringing, but I really love her original default face-up. She looks so gentle and... yeah :3 Perfect for a character I have wanted to give shape to.

I really do want to hit myself for forgetting that with a doll this old, of course she'd be single jointed in the ellbows and knees (still would have purchased her, even aware of that). The other person I kind of want to hit is whoever at Volks EVER had the idea to hotglue the damn eyes in. -.- This was an experience I could have done without.

That said, I ordered some stuff for her, but it will take a bit of time for anything to arrive. So I'll probably do some temporary styling this weekend, so she'll at least be presentable and decend XD

 

I don't believe mine has the form you're talking about. I'm guessing because she has new resin colour? Correct me if I'm wrong though

 

I have Rapunzel and I was not expecting any order form with it ( did not come with one). Not all Volks limiteds have an option for ordering additional parts.

 

No order form? That's going to be disappointing for a lot of people I think. I wonder why they decided not to in this case.
Speaking of Rapunzel, I spotted an interesting repaint on twitter just now, for those who were curious.

 

Oh that repaint is really awesome! I love how the face ups change a sculpt for the better!

 

Well my bite of the Volks bug continues. Ecstatic to say I am purchasing a Volks Williams (Young Ensign)! Another (nearly) decade old grail to cross off the list!

I have another photo request if anyone is able. I love the romantic glance wig but wont be able to get that beautiful sculpt for some time. Does anyone happen to have it who could put it on a regular Williams in normal skin? I think I may be finding the color so appealing in contrast to the beauty white, and it may look weird with normal skin. The wig would be a big investment so I just want to be sure before taking the plunge! Thank you in advance

 

There is no mention in the description of Rapunzel for an order form for extra parts. If extra parts were available, the order sheet would be mentioned.

@Pooki It's so true! There's a couple of Shirou one-offs on Dollyteria right now and even though it's the same sculpt they look completely different! Or Link who was always super unpopular and looked grumpy and pinched with his standard faceup, but softer-eyebrowed FCS/one-off faceups reveal how lovely he really is. XD

I got my SD16 F51 in this week and I had handled the body before but completely forgot how huge it is! Had to invade my Mom's doll clothes stash for SID clothes and in the end she stole my Mytyl default dress... Doesn't completely close in the back but the cape hides a lot of sins

 

Wow, this repaint is splendid.
My local community has been discussed for Rapunzel sculpt as people think she is not as good as previous dolls.
I believe its just a problem with the faceup. Now this can be an evidence.

My Rapunzel arrived yesterday I'm planning to change her character but I'm definitely going to try different wigs and outfits. I'm enjoying all customs on Instagram and Twitter so far.

@Lyrajean, I just tested my H-10 hands on my Graffiti girl, and they fit, although they might look a titch small, but really not bad. Some people have dainty hands, lol! I can take some pics for you, if you'd like.

Since we're on the topic of hands, could someone maybe show me SD10 and SDGr girl hands side by side (or SDGr girl hands on an SD13 girl body)? I want my F62, who is on the SD13 body, to have longer, more slender and elegant hands than her current SD10 H03(?) hands. I have SD10 and SD13 hands right here, but I'm having trouble picturing SDGr hands in comparison. Many thanks!

 

Picture request, does anyone have a Tsunenaga Hasekura II and could spam him? I never really noticed him but there's one on Mandarake and the default faceup makes me think he'd make a kickass girl (or gorgeous boy as intended)

@Roterwolkenvogel Someone I follow on Twitter recently adopted a Hasekura and has a few photos on their account. I think he looks really handsome. I feel like the Volks promo photos don't really do him justice.

My F62 one-off head is home. I woke up to a text from FedEx this morning saying she would be delivered today as planned, when I got downstairs an hour later the parcel was already sitting on my couch. Fortunately for me my dad, who is deaf without his hearing aids and would not have heard the doorbell if he had been in the kitchen in the middle of his morning routine already, saw the truck from his room when he was getting out of bed, so he rushed downstairs and accepted the parcel. Now Komori finally has her face and I love her so much .. And to think I was worried that her faceup might look too plain next to my other girls. It's almost the opposite, if anyone needs a new faceup due to looking plain now it's Aihime (Mia):P. Quick photo, hopefully her proper wig will be here soon as well. She gives me a bit of a 1920s flapper vibe with this particular wig and that face, but that's not going to be her style.

As the Rapunzel site didn't mention an order form, I'd assume she wouldn't come with one, but it's still a little disappointing - mostly because a lot of those promo pics use heel feet! Maybe they're planning on doing more regular releases of optional Graffiti parts but that seems unlikely...

 

Rapunzel is the first one with new skin tone. Maybe Volks will release the order form for Cinderella, demand will be bigger after selling 2 models.
My friends are waiting for Cinderella and said she looks different from Rapunzel.
But I think they are similar sculpts. Need more photos to compare.

Meanwhile I remembered I have a Volks Ian (aka Volks' prototype MSD) in my storage so I got her out to go with Clytemnestra, my discontinued F07 - two oldies!

A morose little elf showed up at my house today! Kaelin is in near pristine condition and I'm almost positive he was kept in his box for the last 11 years. I had to open his elf ears from their original sealed packaging. He didn't come with his original costume, but I just so happened to have bought one from Yahoo Japan in the fall. The eyes and wig are also replacements.

Does anyone here know with which kind of SD10 boy body the original 2004 Michele release came? Because right now I'm about to buy his body (at least according to the seller) but I think that the 2004 SD10 boy body from the Michele release has the old (and ugly) notched knees? So I'm not sure if the body I'm about to buy really is from this release My guess is that it's actually from the 2009 release but I could be wrong!

@Ayanami Thank you^^. She is going to be my gothic lolita girl, the dress she's wearing in the photo does suit her, but she'll be wearing mostly dark colors once her black wig gets here.

Has anyone done an after event in person at a Sumika shop before? Was it busy? I'm debating if it's worth asking a friend to try for me or if I should cross my fingers and hope for the best during the after event clickwar ;-;

 

VolksUSA sent out emails that the November 2019 FCS orders are being checked and prepared for delivery! That was very fast. I can not wait to pick up my Pearl! And I hope they release information of the next Online FCS availability.

 

@Astro The Volks AEs in the Sumikas are crowded but highly organized affairs, much like going to Dolpa is. There will be rules for where to go and what to do, and these are posted online (in Japanese) on the AE website. The procedure is different for each store, so be sure to click on the correct one. Unlike going to Dolpa though, doing an in-person AE is free, other than train fare to get there.

Even if many people show up to the AE, there is going to be more available product per capita in person. It's no guarantee of getting your desired doll or clothes, but with competition restricted to only those people present, your odds are better than an online lottery or clickwar. It is also possible to get multiple copies of "1 per person" items if you go in person, because once everyone in line has had their pick of the stuff, you can go back for seconds unrestricted if any remain.

I had an easy time getting most outfits, an okay time getting Super Dollfie dolls (with difficulty correlating with size, with YoSD being easiest and SD17 being hardest), and a tough time getting Dollfie Dream dolls, which were made in shorter supply at that time. Since the AEs are run differently than Dolpa, your odds of getting different dolls are also different than with Dolpa.

I'm not sure what it'd take for it to be "worth it" for your friend to proxy for you since there are no guarantees (what do they charge on a failure?), but I thought it was always worth going in person if there was something I wanted in a release.
