And just got myself a little christmas doll miracle that proves that the third time really is a charm sometimes So, somewhere during last summer I saw this absolutely stunning F62 one-off head on Mandarake and I fell in love, with both the sculpt and that faceup in particular. She immediately gave me a look/style and a whole character too. She was sold within minutes however. Then, a few weeks after, the same head popped up on Y!J, on an SD10 girl body this time. I bid, quite highly, and I thought I had her but then I got sniped at literally the last second. After that I managed to get a blank F62 and spent quite some time finding eyes for her like the one-off had and studying that faceup so I could hopefully recreate something similar on my blank head. And then... the one off was listed on Y!J AGAIN, last week, with a very good starting price. Coincidentally I had promised my F62 Komori I would do my best to give her a face on Christmas (aka try a faceup hopefully). Then that head popped up, and although the price went up quite a bit in the last few minutes, I got her this time. So Komori did get her proper face on christmas in a way, although in practice the head will be more like a present for my birthday in January. I cannot WAIT to have her here She is an (the?) Happy Christmas from my newly-opened Suiseiseki! Sewing her and her sister, my F-01 (once the mailman delivers) some clothes today!

 

Volks just posted lots of one-off models on Instagram! Major eye candy!

Too bad it is not open to international fans. I am still so sad that there was no Holiday Greeting event this past year. And they even posted a beautiful Belldandy that my sister and I are swooning over - along with many others! Lots of amazing models - many Shinku, Suigintou, Victorique one-offs! I saw two Kirikos, a Shiro Tachibana, Ami Ayase, an Iris, Souseiseki, and Suiseiseki to just name a few!

My original Suigintou from its initial limited release had a nice special creamy coating (so her resin color was very matte and not shiny like other Volks resin at that time) I was told by a friend from Japan that only Suigintou was like that so that release was special. I wonder about all the other one offs Suigintou's coating that's release after that. I think probably just the 1st release was a special color and coating.

I just got an email from Volks saying that they will be receiving the November FCS orders in a couple of weeks. That was faster than I expected! Hopefully I'll have my girl home before the end of January. My first (and probably not last) doll of 2020...

Also kudos to y'all who can pose more than four dolls together... I wanted the whole Volks crew in one shot but it wasn't going to happen ^_^;;

 

Happy New Year, everyone! I'm away from home so can't take pics of my Volks crew but they are waiting for me when I get back! I am determined to play more with my dolls this year...they've been sadly neglected, so my resolution is to work on taking better photos that I am not embarrassed to share!

But I am loving the eye candy on here...I feel inspired!

 

So I got the impulse control of a toddler but also a sunlight F51 on my wishlist... Which Dollyteria had. On a SD16 body but I see that mold so rarely, I had to XD

Can anyone weigh in which shoulders the body she's coming in has? Here's the listing link and I freely admit that despite looking at multiple pictures, I don't really see a difference between the square and the rounded shoulders...

 

@Roterwolkenvogel I'm pretty sure that she has the rounded shoulders since they look less square and more feminine. Especially when you compare them with the reference photos on this website: Neo Angel Den - Volks FCS - SD16 Girl FCS - Body, Arms, Legs, and Feet

I attempted to wrangle the crew into a group photo of the big Volks for the new year.

 

I have a photo request for anyone with a Volks Yori. I bid on a gal on Y!J I thought was an F-01, but it turns out she is a Yori! I'm not as familiar with the sculpt and there aren't as many pictures online as I would imagine. I'm just trying to get inspired and more excited about her, as my plans around her revolved around my misconception. Thank you!

 

Here's an old one-off Yori I got off of Mandarake. I enhanced the eyebrows, but everything else is the original faceup.

 

You should be ok as long as you don't have to change her hands. XD They tie on instead of having the one-touch system, but otherwise the body is really easy to pose and move around. The heel legs are single jointed but the design of the hips makes them a lot easier to deal with than SD/SD13 legs and they can sit with their legs together, cross them, Tori stands easily even though she came fairly loose as long as she's in heels. Arms are double jointed and pose well. It's also not as heavy as you might worry. It's a really nice body.

@I<3MySD She has sculpted teeth, actually. The original artist didn't paint them, but I decided it would give it a nice touch.

 

Interesting. Mine doesn't seem to have sculpted teeth? I'll have to check her again when I get home! I'm working on restoring her right now here. She does have a gap there though.

 

Hello! I was wondering if anyone here has gotten Rapunzel and redid her faceup? I'm having a hard time seeing her sculpt with those default lip coloring they did in her photos.

I been a long time fan of Volks and a Belldandy is actually my Grail doll which I honestly don't see too many owner pictures of her! I love her sculpt so much!

 

Hello! I hope you all have had a lovely holiday season. I decided to ring in the new year by buying a secondhand DWC-01 head, my first Volks resin! I was wondering where I can go to learn more information about him (head circumference, neck size, what eyes he takes, hybrid options, etc.)? My plan is to put him on an IoS Class 50 body when I get the money for it (he'll be a floater for a while, but I just couldn't pass him up when I saw him on IG from someone willing to take offers, from the prices I've seen him go for secondhand, I think I got a nice deal on the little cutie). Thank you all for any help, I'm very much a Volks newbie!

There were no identification papers with her and sadly no artist signature in her head so no clue which one off she is (I though this one maybe but starring at it again, the faceup is different). But she got her one-off headplate and had Volks' signature glued in eyes so no doubt about legitimacy xD

 

She is so lovely!! I adore those Minnie Mouse ears.

Congrats! I'm so glad she got to you OK! She's lovely. Haha, I know the feeling, I've got a one-off in a similar situation - Didn't come with his certificate, no artist name in his head. But, headplate intact and original mid-2000s Zouks still glued in, resin matches other old SD13 boys I have, no doubts. XD Sadly I'll never be able to figure out his origin - His likely date is between 2004 and 2008, long before any real online documentation of one-offs.

But I suppose half the fun of mystery dolls is the mystery. XD

I believe the boy in left corner is Kei (please correct me if I'm wrong!) but it's hard for me to guess about the boy in right corner as he seems not to have default make-up (but I still think it's a familiar sculpt for me...). Is he Reisner?

Now I am just awaiting my Yugiri back from faceup and my F51 and then I'll hopefully stop annoying you all

 

@Evendo - the boy on the left is a Kei and the boy on the right is a Claude. Claude has been repainted. Kei still has his default faceup.

@Roterwolkenvogel - ahhhh I love old F07!! She's gorgeous. There's just something about their facial proportions that make me think of a sweet little Japanese salamander.

Guys I'm super excited! I managed to grab a secondhand Kaelin and he's on his way from Japan right now. Kaelin was released about a year after I left the hobby. I remember seeing photos and being pretty sad that he was released after I had decided I couldn't afford this hobby while I was a graduate student. I'm glad I got a second chance to own him! I just happened to buy a Kaelin outfit from Yahoo Japan a few months ago, but the sale didn't include the sandals. Coincidentally, the Kaelin I bought ONLY comes with his sandals! But no default eyes or wig, unfortunately. I can't wait to share some photos when he arrives. I'm slowly building an elf army, I have a one-off F-31 as well.

Also, I'm really enjoying everyone's doll photos! Happy New Year!
