Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXVII

Dec 15, 2019

    1. While we're on the topic of oldies, Allegra my discontinued F11 :D

Once I have the latest two additions painted, I need to attempt an updated picture of all my senior citizens - count is up to seven now, holy sh*t (F04, F06, F07, F08, F11, F12, F14)

    2. @Roterwolkenvogel, I love this photo -- she looks like someone from an old-fashioned fairy tale. That wig is adorable on her!

      • x 1
    3. @beamlette thank you! I was super fortunate that she came to me with that custom made wig and it's perfect on her :D

    4. @Roterwolkenvogel She is gorgeous! And yes, the wig was a custom by Eclipse21, it is such a luscious colour <3

      • x 1
    5. @Roterwolkenvogel She's lovely. I don't have an F11. I love her Victorian style outfit too. Something about lavender and redheads.

    6. I did a quick bunny day photo shoot with Felix, my custom Anais. Not sure they like the look!

    7. Does anyone know if the measurements for the SDGOU are available online anywhere please?

    8. Looks like Volks closed down another set of stores today. I hope their employees are being given compensation.

Just popping in to show off my most recent purchase, an old f-09 option head! It even has the original manual! It seems to be in pretty decent shape considering how old it is, and it didn’t cost me nearly as much as i thought it would lol.

    10. Just saw it on twitter about the latest Volks news:

      ボークス スーパードルフィー 公式 on Twitter

As expected the next DP will be postponed to June (hopefully)
And looks like we'll have a new or re-release of dolls from the Oath of Silver Coin series XD
I'm not familiar with this series, but was the doll on the cover of Volks news Reisner?

      • x 8
    11. My guess for the Volks News cover boy is Reisner. That's exciting news that there will be Silver Oath re-releases! Wallet, watch out!

      • x 2
    12. Congrats to you! That seller's auctions were so cool, so awesome to see everything in their original packaging! I tried to bid on some of the oldskin WS body pieces but for some reason was unable to :? I'm not sure if Buyee was bombing out or if it was the auction itself!

      • x 1
    13. @Moria_ash -Thank you so much for the Volks News! That certainly does look like Reisner on the cover to me. Or perhaps for a bigger surprise a grown-up Cecile? One can dream! Oh man regardless I’m in trouble! :dohI just love the Oath of the Silver Coin Series. Reisner has been on my wish list for awhile now. :drool Pirates, Bounty hunters, bring it!

    14. That definitely looks like an SD17 Reisner to me! Was he only released as an SDGr?

    15. @TabletopPhantom - I believe limited fullset Reisner and one-offs were only released on the SD17 body. I could be wrong though.

I miss that one-off Sunlight SDGR Scarface Cecile at LA dolpa 2017. He was awesome! I have not seen him since. That would be cool if Volks had a limited SDGr Cecile for this Dolpa too! Just saying! :wiggle

    16. To me, the new Volks News cover looks like a potential SD17 Cecil; the face looks a bit rounder to me, and it would be a fantastic time to bust out such a long-desired aged-up sculpt! But maybe that’s also my wishful/hopeful thinking!

      • x 3
    17. @KeiCai_Ayan -I’m not the only one! :kitty1 That pirate hat screams Cecile to me! (Especially based off other releases in the past. Even the Yo-SD/SDM Midi Cecile had a similar one.) Either way, I’m excited! I adore your SDGR Cain by the way! :love

    18. Here's an oldie (though not quite as old as the original FCS heads) from the year 2000: a Volks Ian! She was an un-assembled kit when I got her, her clothing and wig are still in their sealed packages. I sent her off to the talented Seony in Korea for her faceup and then assembled her for the first time in the 20 years since she was created.

Ian is the predecessor to the Volks MSD dolls and is quite a bit smaller than them but larger than Yo-SDs.

I still need to take actual photos of her with my camera but here's one of her on my desk taken with my phone.

    19. I absolutely adore your Ian! Seeing her on your instagram is what helped me decide that I wanted one myself. I wish she wasn’t so difficult to find though lol.

    20. So many beautiful old faces in this thread lately, it's so wonderful to see. <3 I have a huge weakness for a lot of the earlier Volks sculpts. The newer ones are great as well but there's just something about a lot of those old ones.

One of the options on the final best selection poll for characters we haven't seen yet back in 2018 was the mature appearance of Cecil, so maybe it's that! There were a couple other male options but out of the male ones he seems likely to have been the most popular... It's hard to tell from the video, and it could still be Reisner, but his hair looks more solid silver than Reisner's silver and black... It'd be great to see an updated version of Cecil, it's been an age!

(And mayyyyyyyyybe if we can get a new version of Cecil, we can get a new version of a certain Tokyo Boy that tragically has never seen a re-release... I know, I know, I've been harping on this for over a decade. XD)

    21. If they release grown Cecil I am done for. His original release was the first boy doll I wanted, but I didn't own any BJDs at the time and couldn't afford one. When I finally started buying dolls, my direction changed and I realized he wasn't going to work with my plans.18 years later and a more mature version of Cecil? That could finally work for me.

I am both excited and scared.

      • x 6
    22. Ohhhh that hat does make me think Cecile! If it's grown up Cecile, that will be very exciting to see, though maybe not for a lot of people's bank accounts lol

    23. Guys, What is they made Elizabeth to go with him?

      • x 1
    24. I would also love to finally see Elizabeth too @Yurikun! I have very high expectations after a long wait to meet her. :chibi

    25. Eek. I'm safe from pirate boys. But a pirate era girl could be a problem

Just came across this: Dollfie World Cup 2020
I'm actually really excited to see what people come up with for the outfit challenge theme. If google hasn't lied to me, it's "Adoration".

    26. @idrisfynn Yes I agree I have high expectations for Elizabeth as well. It would amazing if they finally released her.

    27. @eland that is really exciting!

i must admit though, i’m a little confused about what it entails. can anybody shed some light on the dollfie world cup event? what have previous years been like? did anyone here participate?

    28. For anyone else that uses Buyee, do you ever have bids canceled due to "circumstances on the seller's side"? I was trying to bid on a Scarface Reisner and had the highest bid value, but then all of a sudden all the bids fell off back to a much lower figure. I got a cancellation email as well. I'm a little bit crushed as I was willing to go much higher for him but the bid was canceled. Does this happen a lot on Volks doll auctions?

    29. It might be that the seller is not comfortable dealing with a shopping service and has thus canceled your bid @I<3MySD?
Never had that happen to me but I've heard that this can be a problem

      • x 2
    30. Ah, that makes sense. Ughhh. Hopefully another one will come up again sometime :XD: Not somebody I see often! He sold for WAY less than he would have due to that! Very strange.

    31. Elizabeth would be really cool and if they used the SD16 small chest body since its new, it would be interesting too. I love how that body looks elegant, but then again it might be Lady Oscar that makes the outfits look elegant and not the body :P

I hope its Cecile, because then it means that Chris and Lucas in SD17 form can be a reality. You cant have Cecile all grown up and leave Chris/Lucas behind! I loved all the early pictures of them together in the Dollfie Bible (that Nono in the black and white dress with the purple makeup... so pretty. Ive never seen her for sale)

@eland that sweet dream head ! So cool.
Cant wait for the reveal to see if it will be available in white since Ive seen some DWC heads on auction in white.
If I recall correctly, the competition heads were available for international customers, but Im guessing this time will be harder because they dont ship internationally because of covid19. Im cautiously optimistic because it says that its available for those outside of Japan too

@I<3MySD I always bid as soon as I see an auction with the highest Im willing to pay from day 1, so if it gets cancelled, I would know beforehand and not have to worry about the seller deleting my bid later, and I wont have to stalk the auction since I already placed the highest Im willing to pay.
Some sellers dont really care about the monetary value, its because dealing with some forwarding companies can be difficult for them and communication is easier with a real person, vs business hours of a company. There are many US sellers complaining about buyers buying their auctions using mail forwarding services, and the difficulties/scamming probabilities of mail forwarding buyers. I think it may be the same for Japan sellers too. Some sellers delete the bid, but if you contact them, with the bidder's ID and ask for permission, some will allow you to bid after cancelling the bid, this wont work with sniper bids/ ended auctions.

    32. @GreenTeaSlug that is great advice! Normally I am a "wait until the 6 minute mark" person but I certainly won't do that again! Thank you for your detailed explanation.

And...who is Elizabeth? Is she part of the Oath of the Silver Coin story line?

    33. Yes she is. She is William’s sister and Cecile’s love interest. She has never been released as a doll but she is part of the Oath of the Silver Coin story line.

      • x 2
    34. @Yurikun wow how interesting! Is there any concept imagery of her?

    35. New heads!! Dollfie World Cup 2020
      I waaaaaaaant the torsos....

Edit: @GreenTeaSlug no white skin :(

Edit edit: I'm confused. I thought it was open to overseas participants, but it looks like the items are limited to VS/VIP members? Can an overseas person be a VS/VIP member?

    36. @eland as far as Im aware, VS/VIP is only for Japan residents :(
Im kind of received that white skin sleeping head isnt available, its not so heart breaking. I only now worry that when they hold a lottery for the potential Cecile... and others, it will be for Japan residents only because of Covid19....!

@I<3MySD There is not much information about her out there, but I hope that if she is released, that she's one of the pirates. I love big dresses, and princess looks - but a pirate female, with a scar and a hook hand even? would look really cool! I am going to keep expectations low and expect her to have a princess look if she does come out.

I was also thinking that maybe there will be an SD16 Cyndi down the line too..... Her dark look with sharp features will be striking.

    37. If the seller knew that quickly that you were using a proxy it's time to switch proxy companies. They've likely had trouble with the company in the past.

      • x 2
    38. It's actually not so hard to guess one of your bidders is a proxy ...

      • x 1
    39. I agree with @Khell
Large number of feedback in short amount of time, with the items won being very random and not similar
the address having a suite/box/room etc number
placing a bid but not replying or messaging (some sellers require the bidder to contact prior to bidding if they have had a negative feedback in the past / 0 feedback)

There are other hobbyists here who offer shopping services for YJA, plus they are usually individual / small team so they are able to get you your item without setting off "proxy shopper" alarms. I think it maybe a bad experience that someone warned about, so some sellers are wary of dealing with them. You see it on other websites too, sellers warning others of people using proxy buyers/middlemen calling them scammers. Its the same thing I imagine.

    40. Oh darn, I was hoping to see much more different looking head sculpts for the next dwc, but it just looks like school head a and the sleeping version of it. I wonder if there's a chance they'd release more sculpts.

    41. No... The point isnt to hide you're using a proxy LOL but most sellers have no issues selling to proxy unless they've had problem in the past. Since these sites don't support proxy use (sites will side with seller 100% of the time when dealing with proxy sales) it's usually due to past experience with certain companies. Some will even specify which proxy theyre ok with... If your proxy bid is being rejected, change proxy.

    42. Thank you all for the proxy tips! This is the first time it had happened to me so it was a bit of an eye-opener. Of course, it'll always happen with the doll you wanted the most, right? :)

I agree about the DWC head, it seems to be a bit of the same. It will be cool to see how many faceup artists can make it look so different though!

      • x 2
    43. As far as I know there hasn't been any concept imagery of Elizabeth, only mentions of her in the flavor-text story bits advertising various old Silver Coin doll releases. I did vote for her each day in the BotB polls for unreleased story characters, so it'd be neat to see that followed up on one day (whether that's soon or later).

The Silver Coin girls have gotten noticeably fewer releases than the boys of the line have, and that's too bad because the girls are just as great. I'd like to see more of both, but especially of Sylvie, Cyndy, and one day Elizabeth. Pirates just make cool dolls.

      • x 3
    44. Many sellers don't sell to proxy company. They may be okay with personal proxy.
Honestly speaking as a seller myself I don't like to deal with proxy company. They seem not really reading the description and request a lot AFTER winning the auction.

    45. The pirate dolls are my favorites, even though I never leave them in their defaults. For some reason they are all my favorite sculpts so I am excited to hear of a hopeful new addition someday!

I can understand that, many buyers do not do their due dillegence in reading descriptions or understanding terms! I can see if a seller lost money due to a difficult buyer via proxy why they would adopt this policy, especially if it was an expensive SD!

    46. DWC heads really do look like Sch A or DWC01! Such a shame!

Anyway, can anyone explain to me how DWC works? You're buying the head to do a faceup on, then sending photos to Volks? What are the prizes if there are any? (But I see it's not available for overseas... RIP)

    47. Hi. I just saw a post from Volks Japan on FB. It looks like they will start accepting over sea orders again soon. I think they are going to start shipping DHL. I just had share the news.

    48. Oh gosh I really hope so!! :eusa_pray

Edit: I just went to look at their FB page and came across this and holy heck sooooo cool! I'm kind of glad she's not for sale, and suuuper curious about the "secret project"

    49. Yeah it looks like They are going on start May 1st. So I hope it’s true as well. Also I saw her too. I’m really curious about the secret project and I hope the ears are available for sale. I want them so badly. The more I look at her. The more I want an F-80 girl.

    50. Well, well, well. Look who decided to show up on Mandarake as a full set with his headplate! Losing out on that auction was meant to be! :love

It appears he had the "eye-opening service" done, but I don't mind. I'm ecstatic! I just hope he arrives here safely with DHL...my Suiseiseki was almost crushed by them so I'm very nervous.

    52. Thank you so much!

I woke up to like three messages linking me to him lol. So nice that people are so thoughtful! My heart was just absolutely pounding until I had the successful checkout; I was worried I wouldn't be fast enough! He was a steal. It's bizarre though, now that I've paid the listing doesn't show up anymore on the site. There's an older one in its place at a higher price. Funky!

    53. I've noticed Mandarake does that a lot; modify the prices higher after an item is purchased. They did it with a chair I bought previously too. Part of me wants to be like "oh system error" but the other side sees it as more than a bit scummy.

    54. Yes, I've seen that happen before with a vintage Barbie I bought. Not sure why it happens, and it doesn't always happen...

Ah, I've just never noticed except for that once it happened to something I bought and I wanted to double check the details once the doll arrived. In the end I messaged them, and they sent me a link to the one I'd got.

    55. @revien I almost wonder if it helps them "justify" the price increase for the next time they get the item in? I just don't understand it otherwise. It does seem a little odd, it made me panic to think I may have spent $1000 more than I intended for a moment!

@Alice80 I also buy vintage Barbie stuff on there but it hadn't happened to me before! It is strange it is random. Its good to know they at least keep tabs on the previous item if you have questions!

    56. Congratulations @I<3MySD
I wouldnt worry too much, its probably a placeholder/template listing, a listing that was available in the past but not now if that makes sense. If you click on the item, you will notice the item number is not the same as the item number on your email receipt.

I have alerts set up for some items, and one of them is a rare color variant. I got the alert, opened the doll section of Mandarake, purchased it and then when I see the listing without the cart option available, its no longer the same item. Its the common color variant with the cheaper price, but it was definitely the listing that I purchased and paid for when it was live. Ive noticed this almost always happening when purchasing from their SAHRA store, and if I recall correctly, their Ikebukuro store once.

I think if you copy and paste the listing title of the purchased one you have in your email receipt, you should find the listing you purchased with the correct pictures and item number :)

What I really want to know when Volks news becomes available, is if we will get any news on Cinderella... will she have glass/resin slippers or will it be silver fabric(?) like the one off Belle Cinderella

      • x 2
    57. Except they usually use the exact same photos between these "holder" listings, and the higher prices are generally in the realm of reality for desperate collectors. The only person who'd know the price was lower or that the listing number had changed is the buyer or someone who had the link saved. Most places that use a placeholder method would put a obvious number (like 9999). Whether Mandarake intends it to be the case or not people look to the site as a price gauge so using these placeholder listings (if that's what they're doing) is still dishonest imo. Imagine if Ebay or YJ changed the prices of their ended auctions when searching closed listings. Especially for collectibles, you'd never be able to properly price items. These sold listings do influence the market.

    58. The cover for Vol87 is out. Is it Cecile? I don't know enough to tell.

      • x 5
    59. I would 100% bet money on Cecil. The lip shape and how they’ve painted him is a dead giveaway to me. I’m surprised it doesn’t look they’ve they’ve changed the sculpt that much (compared to SD Shirou vs SD17 Shirou). But he’s stunning and I’m excited to see more!!

I did a quick comparison between a One Off Cecil and a One Off Reisner with heavier makeup. Here the lip shape really comes across.
