@PinkBear I highly doubt it. USA is on a delay since I think the dolls are shipped over via surface mail in bulk.

I picked up a boyhood Williams outfit from my friend who didn't want theirs, I'm excited cause the blouse is so cute! I'm always happy to have extra SD10 shoes too, they're just so hard to find.

 

Villians would be so fun! I'm literally on the edge of my seat waiting for more Frozen doll news.

I wanted to share, I finished the outfit for my second Suiseiseki that I bought on accident (that you can't even see in this photo). I had absolutely NO intention of ever getting another one, but a forum member listed hers for sale in her Instagram story and, well, here she is! Her faceup is by Komorebi dolls and makes my other Suiseiseki look bad

Online FCS is:

SD16 girl: F-63, F-64, Amethyst, Garnet, Pearl
SDGr boy: F-16, F-36, F-38, F-53, F-57.

Nothing new as usual so I'm safe.

 

Has anyone kept a document of which head molds are available for each FCS period? There's nothing in the Wiki here. I feel like it's the same heads over and over and never the head/body combo I'd be after.

Also, I’d suggest emailing VolksUSA with a request as to what sculpt+body combination you’d like. They have requested for customer feedback before, and most likely if it’s approved by corporate then they’d oblige. They don’t know exactly what people want unless we tell them.

I always back off in every FCS because of one thing or another, usually money but often just a feeling of meh. I need more photos of each sculpt and each skin tone from Volks. they should provide us with all the info. I shouldn't have to scour the internet. (not that I'm against some scouring)
So many dolls here in my crew and few girls. only 1 Volks girl: DD 2B who just arrived this year after a superlong wait.
I have sd16 shoes and clothes for a Soom, an IPlehouse and a SmartDoll. wouldn't mind an actual sd16.

I am trying to decide on choices on my first FCS, and I'm so torn on skin colour and face model.

@petiteballerine Same for me, I don't know if it's how they do their faceups and/or the lack of photos, I'm never super impressed with their standard or FCS dolls until I see someone's individual photos of them on instagram.

 

It's always been a problem with Volks that their promo photos are sort of lackluster, but it does give the dolls an advantage of always looking better when they show up.
Thanks for the FCS link @Daniel Falls I guess I always forget about that list because it's so hard for me to read it in that format (and is incomplete). Better than nothing though!

ETA: Just for my own curiosity, I translated all of the FCS release info from Tenshi no Kichi into a basic spreadsheet so I could see with what frequency each headmold was offered. Might as well share.

I can't get over how much Pearl looks like Cecile in the natural makeup on the Volks page.

Twin Garnets, @Roterwolkenvogel are gorgeous and so different. I like them both.

@purplepaws, your twin Pearls are very beautiful, and I do love the mold. I'm thinking about Pearl myself. What color is your tan girl? (I have Shadow Shiro and it's a very pleasing color and for some reason I think it is one of the darker resins that Volks does. I actually have no clue about that as I don't have any other tan colored doll by them.)

@petiteballerine, I have to laugh, I love Sakamoto Ryoma, and have him also. I think that you and I have the same taste in most dolls.......which imho is a very good thing. I think he's so unique and I'd never change his faceup.

I just received a YoSD Puff that has been modded to look like a mini Pearl, and it's making me wish I could splurge and get a big Pearl to go with him

 

I'm mostly amused by the fact that they have Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl (and Steven!) all on offer.

The outfits for the October collection are up on the Japanese website! I'm tempted to buy one of the Japanese styled clothes for my SDGr boy... does anyone know if this outfit might fit him: 錦の奏(漆) ? It's aimed at the SD16B/SD17B/SG Gou body but maybe it could fit a smaller sized doll as well?

 

The outfits are nice, but thankfully nothing on my must buy list. Maybe the long pom pom skirt, but that's it.

 

Text on the new Frozen site indicates Volks will be releasing both Anna and Elsa! Likely in their original outfits.

Love the ayakashi outfits out of the Oct releases, but it's nothing I'm really looking for at the moment. Might have to bend for that princess pom skirt, though

@Ayanami For Gr it'll probably be large especially in the shoulders, and will of course be too long in pretty much every direction. This type of outfit is pretty forgiving... but on the other hand it's already sort of large on the 16+ boys by design, so... Depends on the effect you're going for!

 

Sadly/happily I'm safe since everything I want out of the October collection won't fit the dolls I want it for! Might pick up the grey blouse that fits SD10 since it's super cute, but nothing big to stress over. I love so many of the designs though, that tanuki outfit is adorable and I hope to see a lot of people get it!

It's been a while since they've had the F-36 up there, and I could get it in suntan, and I even have a tentative character idea...I may be in trouble.

 

Thank you @purplepaws for the information about your beautiful doll. I could have sworn that she was the Amber shade. The Volks picture of the Tan (SC-03) looks so light. Gosh it's so hard to decide. I love how the white pearl looks, too.

Added: Their shipping is kind of slow at the Volks USA. I ordered my SD17 Williams from the USA store and have yet to get him. They told me a while back that he'd be shipping in mid- late October. I so hope that's true. I want him.

Wow!! Odd eye, full blush. This is the second time I’ve seen one go on the secondary market! It’s very interesting because Kasumi owners have a contract with Volks not to sell the doll on the secondary market but obviously this is impossible to control. I thought Volks would contact secondary shops like Dollyteria and just have an understanding with them that should a bisque come in that they would just buy her back. And I’m surprised Volks didn’t offer some sort of buy back program on her for people who don’t want her. It will be interesting to see if she stayed in Japan or not. I thought the price on her would be higher as that the price she sells at Volks. Congrats to whoever snagged her!

 

@pris84 Doesn't Volks have some kind of buyback program? I can't recall the details. Maybe the owner was embarrassed or something, but it seems like it would be easy to figure out who sold their doll since Dollyteria shows the headplate. I presume that means the owner isn't worried that they'll be shut out of future events.

 

@oriscany Here's a comparison photo of all four resin colors. And yes, my other Pearl is in pure skin fair (SC-01) but he looks quite light in comparison to tan. ^_^

 

Oh wow, thanks. SC-03 and SC-04 look remarkably different than on the website.

 

I wish that comparison pic were taken under more controlled conditions. There's a heavy magenta cast over everything, no matter what device I view it on. Neutral lighting with no shadows, a white card or perfect grey for control, and white balance the shot would be more helpful.

Has anyone asked Volks to change or tweak a faceup? I find it hard to believe they only give us Natural and Vivid as choices. Open or closed mouth wouild be a good option.

 

I think they just can't afford the labor involved in custom face-ups for overseas orders. They'd have to send the doll back to Japan, and it still not might be what the customer imagined. Some people just aren't good at articulating what they expect in a face-up, and any instructions are still open to artist interpretation.

 

@St. James As far as I know, there is no buy back program for the bisque girls. My understanding is that owners are suppose to just give her (and Yayori) back to Volks if you don't want them or can't keep them. I guess you could even buy one of those pink bags they sell and return her in that but I really don't think she would ever end up as an Adaption Model. It could be that someone is leaving the hobby or just doesn't care or maybe even passed away? This Kasumi looks like she has a black mark on her body and normally, bisque owners can send their girls back to Sato to pay for a special saetegri service unique to the bisque girls (cleaning, recoating, string, new eyelashes, etc ...) but I don't know if Volks would honour the service to the new owner. Hopefully? If Volks wanted them returned, then I'm surprised they didn't reach out to all the second hand places (Mandarake, Dollyteria, etc ..) and just have an automatic buyback if someone brought one in the store. But I guess she must be a rebel angel? Based on the number, it looks like she was from the 2017 year.

I'd be curious to know how many FCS get ordered every time. Maybe it's not worth the numbers to offer some new predetermined make up options? I am surprised that we've never been offered welcoming outfits or the carrier bags because I would think those would be really easy options to add. Love those new ones from Sato. Or just allow people to buy more than one extra hand/feet part. I keep holding my breath for that SDGr girl to make an entrance, even a limited one like they seem to offer with the SD16 girls. Tan SDGr girl! I would be so broke ....

 

They did also change up how they handle FCS faceups in Japan. Custom faceup is the most expensive tier of FCS and is like $200 more than the standard faceup option. The VolksUSA natural and vivid faceups are from their standard style tier for FCS, though I wish they did offer some of the more interesting ones in for the online FCS like the "ennui" or "dark" faceup options

 

I am such a broken record when it comes to asking for SDGr girls to be added to FCS. Maybe if we all just replied to each FCS announcement email with the request they'd revisit. The only reason ever offered - that there are too many parts and thus it's too expensive - never made sense to me.

 

There's some hope - you CAN get SDGr girl FCS at Sato right now through October. Maybe if it's super successful and goes well they'd be willing to make it a more regularly occurring thing?

 

Maybe the flurry of orders for Amaebi tipped them off?

For Amabie, definitely. I am unclear offering the upgrade for orders that aren't her sculpt, but the fact that they allowed that is big since they've been pretty adamant against offering it for easier order in the past

I'm pretty tempted to try for one of the FCS SD16 girls, but I also want to wait a bit in case Volks decides to release any new girls... it's such a struggle! >_<

On another note- so I have an SD16 girl. She came with her standard high heeled legs, and being curious to see what other changes Volks made to the SD16 over the years (I know they've changed the shoulder design a bit and added double joints since my girl has them )- I've found a statement somewhere on the world wide web that mentioned in passing that the newer SD16's also supposedly have double jointed knees with the flat feet option, but for the life of me, I couldn't find any pictures or reviews showing this. It'd be so nice if my tall elegant girl could do the kneel-sit as well. Is there even a way to purchase them aside from getting them in the options section when you order a FCS? I don't know why they don't include the flat feet anymore with the newer releases...

My little Williams arrived 3 days ago. He is such a cute little boy
I compared his head with my SD17 Williams and found out that the SD Williams have more cheek lol The shape of nose and mouth is exactly the same.

@idrisfynn Perhaps when we're finally able to have large scale events again, and we have another US Dolpa, we can all stand in the vicinity of Mr. and Mrs. Shigeta, and lament how we really need some relatively easily available tan and ebony SD17 boy bodies.
